tvN’s “Tale of the Nine-Tailed” is gearing up for a new season!

 

On March 28, tvN dropped an eye-catching poster for their upcoming drama “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938” starring Lee Dong Wook.

Starring Lee Dong Wook, Jo Bo Ah, and Kim Bum, “Tale of the Nine-Tailed,” which aired at the end of 2020, tells the story of the male gumiho (a mythical nine-tailed fox) Yi Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) in a modern era. Although Yi Yeon found a happy ending with Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah) in Season 1, he will get swept up in an unexpected incident and get summoned to the year of 1938. The new season will depict Yi Yeon’s desperate struggle to return to present day where all the people precious to him are.

 

Previously in May 2022, it was confirmed that Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum will be returning for Season 2 joined by Kim So Yeon and Ryu Kyung Soo. Director Kang Shin Hyo and scriptwriter Han Woo Ri from Season 1 will be reuniting for the new project.

 

In the teaser poster, Yi Yeon is standing in the middle of an unfamiliar street in the darkness. The Japanese signboards suggest that he crash landed in Gyeongseong in 1938. The text that reads, “I and the world I belong to are all becoming distorted,” on top of the backdrop of the modern era in coexistence with 1938 suggest the prelude to huge turmoil that Yi Yeon will face.

 

 

tvN’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938” will premiere on May 6 at 9:20 p.m. KST following the conclusion of “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise.”

tvN has released a new poster of the upcoming K-drama Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938, starring Lee Dong Wook, Kim Bum, Kim So Yeon, and Ryu Kyung Soo, in the leading roles. 

As the title suggests, Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 is set in the year 1938. The gumiho Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) gets entangled in unexpected circumstances which cause him to travel back to the year 1938, the time when the Japanese ruled over the Korean peninsula. There, he reunites with Ryu Hong Joo (Kim So Yeon), a guardian spirit of a mountain in the west, who later - to blend into the world of human beings - becomes the owner of a high-end restaurant in Gyeongseong (old name for Seoul).

Lee Yeon also meets his brother Lee Rang (Kim Bum). Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Lee Yeon gets on the bad side of Cheon Moo Young (Ryu Kyung Soo), a guardian spirit of a mountain in the east who used to be on good terms with the gumiho. Now, Lee Yeon is trapped in the past and struggles to find his way back to the future. 

Most of the cast members from season 1 have reprised their roles and we also have an addition of Kim So Yeon and Ryu Kyung Soo in season 2. 

The first teaser poster of the K-drama portrays Lee Dong Wook standing in the mist with his back towards the front giving a side look, and in the background are the past and future cities of Gyeongseong (Seoul).  As usual, he wears dark clothes and the poster gives an eerie vibe, thereby, hinting we can expect supernatural horror in the drama. 

 

 

The screenwriter of Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 is Han Woo Ri, and Kang Shin Hyo and Jo Nam Hyung are the drama's directors.

After years of waiting, Lee Dong Wook is finally back as tvN teases fans with a sneak peek of the much-awaited sequel "Tale of The Nine-Tailed 1938."

As the hit romance-fantasy series announces its return, fans are looking forward to seeing the beloved duo, Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum, playing the role of Lee Yeon and Lee Rang.

 

The long wait is over as tvN dropped an update for "Tale of The Nine-Tailed 1938."

Over the broadcast network's official Instagram, the show re-introduces Lee Dong Wook's character, reprising his role as the gumiho.

 

Dressed in a trench coat, the official poster showcases Lee Yeon in an unfamiliar street in what appears to be at Gyeongseong in 1938. Along with the phrase, "I and the world I belong to have all begun to twist," tvN hints at his meaningful return to a different era.

 

Interestingly, the broadcast network announced the official premiere of the series.

Gumiho Lee Dong-wook returns in Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938

Our yellow-eyed gumiho Lee Dong-wook (Bad and Crazy) has returned in a new season of tvN’s fantasy-action Tale of the Nine Tailed, and we finally get our first look in the moody new poster.

Picking up after the events of the first season, Lee Yeon’s (Lee Dong-wook) happiness is sadly short-lived as he’s somehow transported back in time to 1938. We then follow our hero’s journey as he tries to figure out why he’s been summoned to the past and how he can get back to his loved ones in the present day.

 

However, having once lived through this time period, Yeon will be forced to re-meet familiar faces, with the complication of knowing the future. One of the hardest, of course, will be seeing his half-brother Lee Rang – with Kim Bum (Ghost Doctor) reprising his role. Although Rang is alive in 1938, this version of Rang still has animosity against Yeon.

Newly joining the cast in the second season are Kim So-yeon (Penthouse 3) and Ryu Kyung-soo (Glitch), whose characters were once heavenly beings like Yeon. However, centuries in the past, the two were hurt by Yeon – each for different reasons – and the trio are reunited again in 1938, both as old friends and as foes.

With production continuing under the first season’s PD Kang Shin-hyo and writer Han Woo-ri, Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 is slated to premiere on May 6 in the weekend slot.

tvN's upcoming fantasy thriller  Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 got its first teaser released. In the teaser, Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook), who is caught up in an unexpected incident and travels back to 1938 says, "The world I belong to, has begun to twist". 

The question is what circumstances propelled the gumiho, who at the end of season 1 got a happy ending with Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah) - to travel back in time. 

 

Season 1 of Tale of the Nine-Tailed premiered on October 7, 2020, with a rating of 5.80%. In season 1, Jo Bo Ah played the female lead Nam Ji Ah, an intelligent and fearless PD who seeks the truth behind her parents' death and seeks the help of a gumiho, Lee Yeon, who has a connection with it.  

The talented actress, unfortunately, will not reprise her role in season 2. Instead, we have a new addition of Kim So Yeon in the lead role. The stunning actress will play the role of Ryu Hong Joo. 

Ryu Hong Joo is a guardian spirit of a mountain of the west, who later - to blend into the world of human beings - becomes the owner of a high-end restaurant in Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul).

Other actors returning to the second season are Kim Bum, Kim Yong Ji, Hwang Hee, and Kim Jung Nan. We will also see a new character named Cheon Moo Young (Ryu Kyung Soo),  a guardian spirit of a mountain of the east.

Apart from an intriguing plot, supernatural horror, and gripping historical adventure, Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 also promises action and thrill unlimited.
