I can see why he doesn't do rom coms much although if the right one comes along with which allows him to show off his athleticism, he really should do it.

Every time a sentence starts with "So" I immediately think of So, but the sentence doesn't make sense and I have to reread it and order my stupid brain: It's not "So" stupid brain, it's "so". Even if "so" is in the middle of the sentence I think it's "So". So I do not understand English sentences anymore, So please stop messing with my brain, So I could understand English again and So I can have my So So So happy ending. Or So-Soo happy ending. So do you understand me? So no one understands me? Why So serious? Started watching LJG old dramas, but I can barely concentrate on the plot: "Oh here is the Wang So look" "Here is the deep voice of Wang So, I freaking love it" "He said Moon!! He said Moon!!" "He is looking at the Moon! OMG!!" "Oh... he moves and acts like Wang So!!" "Here is the Wang So 'I will kill you' look" "Here is the Wang So kick!" "Here is the Wang So cry." "Here is the Wang So gentleness." "Oh, riding a horse... Wang So riding style... Don't kill it please. Horsey loves you." @briseis Was about to write a similar post, but you highlighted everything I wanted to say about LJG screentime. And still, it was not enough, at least not for me... if it wasn't for him I probably would have stopped watching the drama after the 3rd episode. LOL, he is looking at the moon. Burst into laugh. In my dark moment with MLSHR, sometime I scream my frustation. I am an adult. I might not be a genius but I am not stupid either. I have a job, family. I even active in my comunity. But since MLSHR, all I can think about is Wang So, our OTP and their happiness. I even wish to the sky, let them be happy now. I cry for every tragedies and embarrased myself in public (red puffy eyes). I even feel sad for the horse. MLSHR look what you've done to me.

luvkstyle
@hiluna Thank you - I like your thoughts on Ji Mong He has been a puzzle to me. I wonder what his criteria was for finding the person who would put history back on the right track...someone who Wang So would fall in love with? Someone with Go Ha Jin's personality? Had he been observing her? Or was she just at the right place at the right time of the eclipse so she would be 'the one'. Oh well put those thoughts on sky hooks haha - I'm overthinking.

It's the kind of character that any actor worth his salt would die for. Or even kill for. It's like every Shakespearean actor's dream to play Hamlet or even Richard III. And there is something very Shakespearean about LJG's delivery. I can guess why he loves sageuks... probably the same reason why Yoo Ah In loves them too. For them it's the equivalent of doing Shakespeare. When else can they be poetic, ruthless and elegant at the same time? In lesser hands, the role could have ended up being a shemozzle. But the role did make enormous demands on him and the result was a tour de force. Maybe it's a good idea for him to move to something entirely different but this Wang So-Gwang Jong role... will be his defining role. The one all others in his career will be compared to.
yongwonhi4jfc
I was so worried about the ending so I didn't watch until now. I didn't understand one scene: Can someone explain to me what WJ kept of HS that Baekha said 'that was foolish of you' I cried more on this version than the Chinese version, and I like how ambiguous but determined both of their feelings are for each other.
Popular Post briseis
Sirius - The Celestial Wolf “His name was So.” It isn’t the account of the blood Gwangjong spilled or his purges which leave the biggest impression; IT’S THE MENTION OF HIS REAL NAME which reveals a glimpse of the real man behind the legend. And no other name could be more fitting for him; meaning “radiant” and “bright”. Soo once showed the North Star to him, but that isn’t the brightest star in the night’s sky - it’s THE DOG STAR which the Chinese astronomers used to call THE CELESTIAL WOLF (if So was born under the star of a king, then this is HIS STAR). And just like Sirius, SO HAS BEEN SHINING BRIGHTLY and not even 1000 of years could diminish his light, just like HIS STAR STILL HAS NOT BURNED OUT - there were 36 Goryeo king, but only 3 of them have been remembered by many. IN THE END, HE SHINED SO BRIGHTLY, OVERSHADOWING ALL THE OTHER KINGS, THAT NO ONE, BE IT HAE SOO OR HISTORY, COULD EVER FORGET HIM. His deeds, his legacy have survived him, in that way NOT EVEN DEATH ITSELF COULD DEFEAT HIM - he is truly immortal, larger than life itself. “Fleeting life. The late King Taejo’s last words were that life is fleeting. It is all short and in vain. He said that life is so short. But I think that he was wrong. You and I are together like this, so how could it be in vain?” After all the wounds and scars he sustained, after all the tragedies and injustice that left marks on him, Wang So never gave up, never ran away no matter how much he was hurting. He stood alone, burning all his enemies, fiercely protecting the ones he loved, shaping the future and bringing light, happiness and freedom to many, WHILE HE HIMSELF LIVED IN DARKNESS AND LONELINESS JUST LIKE ALL STARS DO. So how could his life be fleeting and in vain, when HE LIVED IT TO ITS FULLEST, WITHOUT REGRETS AND NEVER GIVING UP. His actions, his legacy survived him; even all the blood that he spilled was spilled for a reason - to gain the power to do what was neccesary. “Don’t sigh anymore, you said it yourself that humans are transient, unable to get three inches of daylight.” - Three Inches of Heaven However, in the end it’s Wang So, not his father, who is right, because how could a life that was filled with love be futile? No one can undo all the good So did in his lifetime, all the lives he saved, nor the impact of his policies and actions which reaches even to the modern day. His and Hae Soo’s daughter is a living proof that NOTHING HE DID IN HIS LIFE WAS FUTILE. Those are things which survive him, THINGS WHICH WILL BEAR FRUITS, JUST LIKE THE TREES HE LOVED SO MUCH. He is immortal and Hae Soo, the woman who inspired him, with him, hidden between the lines of history which she helped to shape.

I do think he's the type of actor that needs a role that lets him express himself in a grand way. Almost like a theatrer actor. I do think this role fit him so well and called for him to act with a subtlety of emotion that really suited the character and himself as an actor. All those close ups showed how good he is with micro expressions. That last close up of him wiping away the make up and staring straight into the camera just....wow....I think everyone watching knew what he was feeling and thinking without him saying a word (well besides the voiceover ) I was thinking a K2 type drama or healer would be a good way for him to go but it needs a unique element to set it apart from just an action drama. It could be an updated Iljame for the 21st century were he acts the fool but is really a bad richard simmons fighter. I don't know just something cool for him to stand out again. Wang So had so much depth and character development and his chemistry with IU was so amazing I hope his next partner can give him that same energy. That's why I praise IU for being able to spark with Joon Gi. When it comes to romance he is awkward and has not had luck and his partner needs to dish it out so he has something to work with and she did that and then some.

Popular Post lunaluna33
I'm still lurking here! I can't believe it. I've been passing my time reading your posts, fan fics and re-reading BBJX the novel. The letter that RX/HS wrote her lover is so beautiful. Here's my very awkward translation. I've replaced the Chinese names with HS/WS. So, life is a dream, passing like the clouds. Right or wrong; love or hate, nothing can surpass the silent trickling of days and nights; like water streaming. Those who don't believe this, chose to remain in a dream. When some one carelessly told me "I'm your person"; he already holds the key to my heart. When someone guarded me in the rain, sharing my pain, I've already opened the door to my heart. And when someone used his body to block the arrow, I already know I am his for the rest of my life. Everything that happens afterward just mired me deeper and deeper. after all of this, do you still need to ask about the Eighth Prince? From love comes resentment, from love comes hate, from love comes obsession, from love comes remembrance. Resentment, hate, obsession and remembrance; these have been my constant companion since I've left you. At this moment, are you still annoyed with me? Angry with me? Do you still resent me? Do you still hate me? Under the cold moon, on this piece of paper, sitting on my lavender swing, I want you to know that in Soo's heart, there is no King, there is no Fourth Prince; there is only Wang So, the man who stole my soul! I dream of you, I think of you, but I can't go to you. In trying to cut my ties to you, I've only redoubled its hold on me. My longing runs deep through every part of my body. I long for you, I will wait for you every day Hae Soo

Jung kept Soo's hairpin that she used once to protect him from So by threatening to kill herself if he entered Damiwon. It has become his treasure since. 'Foolish' for holding on to his unrequited love for many years; marry her and take care of her unconditionally even tho he knew he can never replace So in her heart. Just sad, really.

ldwon4
I think it's only me that thinks IU's surprised faces were fine... her eyes are generally big and she's also extremely pretty with young looking features so she probably couldn't help herself with the close up shots they took. Maybe it was because they did so many of the shots that it got annoying to viewers...but at the early episodes, Hs was still in the shock of that she TRAVELED BACK 1000 YEARS into the past and anything to her was still surprising. I tried to make surprised looks in the mirror and as a fellow person with generally big eyes, I could not make my expressions much better than she could, except not as pretty because I'm not as pretty as her XD. I guess blame the director's tendency to get a lot of close ups of her, which was her being shocked a lot in the first 3 episodes XP But cant help being pretty in every shot since she's an extremelypretty person. XD

I wonder how many takes did they do this. I can't picture if they had to do more than one take of this...... If only Soo can hold on bit longer, if only So found the letter a bit sooner, if and if and if.......
