When asked to talk about his current drama, 'Scarlet Heart: Ryeo' Lee Jun Ki admitted, "I have worries about the TV ratings." As a big drama with its original, Chinese version having had huge success, the Korean version is not doing as well in terms of TV ratings. Lee Jun Ki stated, "I feel sad. All the actors and staff worked so hard. Everyone worked so hard..." Aside from the TV ratings, the drama is getting a lot of positive feedback, and many are praising Lee Jun Ki's acting. However, he did not make excuses, saying, "I have no regrets. As a leading role, I must have a sense of responsibility with its success, including TV ratings. As I watch this drama, I am looking for what it is lacking." 

 

His monitoring does not end there. Lee Jun Ki says that he reads all the comments on articles related to him. He explained, "Not just my works, but I watch almost all dramas and movies that are out to analyze what people like, why certain dramas have high ratings, and why some don't do as well. It helps me be a better actor for the next work and also helps me to select scripts." 

 

When questioned about plans to get married, he responded, "I have my priorities. I want to be settled as an actor first. It's not just about performing well as an actor. I think a lot about how I can be chosen by the public consistently...Yes, I do feel frustrated with myself sometimes too."

With only four episodes left in Scarlet Heart:Ryeo, the leading actor is already talking fanmeetings and future acting opportunities with Singles magazine. The 34 year-old actor modeled the latest trends in suits, crocheted sweaters and leather jackets for the black and white photo shoot, while he chatted with the publication.

He is all in when it comes to fan gatherings! Fanmeeting preparations take about a month, because he is very hands-on with the entire event. From songs to special events during the meetings, he does it all. "I am grateful to all my fans, and I am trying hard to be together with them," he said.

Although he is very happy he met the great cast and crew on the set of Scarlet Heart: Ryeo, the Hallyu star is ready to embrace the future. His next role is Commander Lee in the Hollywood film Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which releases in US theaters on January 27. "It's just a special appearance, and I think of it as a good experience... I have been acting for more than 10 years now, but there's still a lot I want to show everyone. I haven't met my true character yet. I hope to in the future."

Fans are more than willing to take that future ride with him. I think Lee Joon Ki has done an unbelievable job as Wang So these past couple of months. I was 100% Team Wang Wook until recent episodes. He's very persuasive.

Same here. My heart sank when I read his interview. He did a fantastic job portraying Wang So and I don't want him to feel that he was lacking just because of the stupid TV ratings.  The writer and actors did a great job and the drama has been given a lot of love internationally.  I just hope they can put together a longer version with all cut scenes that everyone worked so hard on for a DVD release.

Tbh, this actually just prove how good LJG is, he`s been 10 years on the market and is still popular and relevant to the entertainment business,  Isn`t easy to keep a consistent career when new actors keep popping up every day, but he did. 

Which makes this "he passed his prime" even funnier is that thanks to his performance in SRH, he's everywhere. He was topping the searches in China (was it china?), got more than 600.000 followers on IG as fast as a bullet, he's on top 10 on that popularity poll, top 5 in another two tops ( Good data and  drama actor Brand Reputation for October)... he's definitely not doing badly as a veteran actor. 

 

Agree with you. Entertainment Biz is very tough world. If you in that business for 10 years and people still know your name and appreciate your work, then you did something right.

Ugh!  That article broke my heart.  The hell with TV ratings.  I enjoyed Moonlight too, but it's not nearly as good as MLSHR (no offense Moonlight fans) & I almost gave up on the last 4 episodes.  MLSHR has everything.  I hope LJK doesn't dismiss the fact it's doing very well internationally.

It’s such a pity that their mountain meal didn’t make it into the final cut, because it suddenly gives this brief, adorable moment a new complexity and dimension. Once again, Hae Soo comes to the lonely wolf who is hiding from the world, hurt by his own family; once again she doesn’t leave him alone even when he is telling her to go back; once again she brings him sustanance; once again they eat together. However, this is where the similarities end, the rest tells about the long journey they have behind them and even though they might have been physically separated their hearts has walked it together. 

There is no awkwardness or shyness this time, they are completely natural, as if this was the most normal thing, as if they weren’t star-crossed. This time, HS doesn’t barely hand So the food, but FEEDS HIM HERSELF when she notices he has difficulty to use the chopsticks with his left hand (since his right hand is injured). You have to wonder whether Wang So isn’t simply pretending (and he is TOTALLY pretending because he CAN FIGHT WITH BOTH HANDS) BECAUSE HE ACTUALLY WANTS SOO TO FEED HIM since the scene obviously continues with him feeding Soo, as well (a part which was deleted once again).

The whole scene gives such a feeling of perfect marital bliss that you almost expect that a “JUST MARRIED” sign must be hanging somewhere on the wall. The fact that they FEED EACH OTHER IS SO APTLY SYMBOLIC AND IT UNDERSCORES THE HONEYMOON MOOD EVEN MORE because it’s a direct parallel to the previous night and the shadow play - besides the wolves, they did multiple shadows of bird mates and MOST BIRD MATES ACTUALLY FEED EACH OTHER WHEN THEY AREBREEDING(hint: a baby) MATING.

Cmiir, but Historical Baek Ah didn't die that early since he had to be alive long after So's rule begun to have an affair with a palace maid and continue the Wang line. So's line ended with Mokjong, his grandson and Baek Ah, as awesome as always, kept richard simmons moving for the Royal Wang family.

Sadly, the same can be said for Historical Wook who died in 969, just 5 years before So died in 975. He also stayed alive long enough to have a daughter married off to So's son and she became Queen Heonae, also known as Queen Dowager Cheonchu. It's pretty interesting that Wook was the seventh son, not eight. Creative license at its finest.

I guess Baek Ah really was the winner in this battle for the throne since neither So nor Wook's issues and descendants had much longevity.

We are now experts on Goryeo history. Because of MLSHR, dare i say I'm more well versed in its history than my own country's. *cough* guilty as charged.

I really don't understand the ratings in Korea either.  This is truly the only drama that I have looked forward too every week. The only drama that has ever inspired me to sign up on a forum because I NEEDED to discuss, to read discussions, to be exposed to more of the drama. This is the only drama that I've found worth analyzing because it is thought provoking. Usually when a drama is 15 episodes or more, I can't commit to watching it because 1. It's too damn long, 2.   It's too damn boring, 3. The actors/actresses ends up annoying me somehow, 4. The plot became seriously silly and stupid, 5. It has fillers that I don't feel is relevant to the story.  I tried watching DOTS; dropped it half way (and I love Joong Ki and  Hye Kyo) because I couldn't stand the acting and story line. I've tried watching many others and just didn't feel it was worth my time.  But Moon Lovers is like an addiction.  I think, breathe, and seemed to be living for this drama. My life has been on hold since I've started watching it. I feel that this drama can have another 80 episodes and I wouldn't be bored with it.  I wish we can give Moon Lovers an International Award for most beloved drama ever.
