Go Kyung Pyo, Lee Yi Kyung, And Kwak Dong Yeon’s “6/45” Surpasses 1 Million Moviegoers

 

The new comedy film “6/45″ is off to a strong start at the South Korean box office!

On the morning of September 4—just 11 days after its release on August 24—”6/45” officially surpassed 1 million moviegoers. After rising to No. 1 at the box office on the fifth day of its release, “6/45” has successfully held onto the top spot for an entire week.

“6/45” tells the story of the negotiations that ensue between North Korean and South Korean soldiers after a 5.7 billion won (approximately $4.2 million) winning lottery ticket accidentally flies across the Military Demarcation Line from South Korea into North Korea. The film’s cast includes Go Kyung Pyo, Lee Yi Kyung, Kwak Dong Yeon, Eum Moon Suk, Park Se Wan, and more.

Kwak Dong Yeon, Park Sung Hoon, And More In Talks To Join Kim Soo Hyun And Kim Ji Won’s New Drama

 

Kwak Dong Yeon, Park Sung Hoon, Kim Joo Ryoung, Na Young Hee, and Kim Jung Nan may be appearing in a new drama by the “Crash Landing on You” writer!

 

On February 23, DongA.com reported that Kwak Dong Yeon and Park Sung Hoon will be starring in the new tvN drama “Queen of Tears” (working title). In response to the reports, Kwak Dong Yeon’s agency H& Entertainment and Park Sung Hoon’s agency BH Entertainment both revealed that “Queen of Tears” is one of the projects that they have received offers for and are reviewing. Kim Joo Ryoung, Na Young Hee, and Kim Jung Nan are also reportedly in talks to star in the drama.

 

“Queen of Tears” will be penned by Park Ji Eun, the writer of the hit dramas “My Love From the Star” and “Producer,” and helmed by director Jang Young Woo, who previously worked with Park Ji Eun on their drama “Crash Landing on You.”

Previously in December 2022, Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won were confirmed as the lead roles of the drama.

Kwak Dong Yeon and Lee Joo Bin is Set to Join Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won in "Queen of Tears"

 

Their agencies confirmed that Kwak Dong Yeon and Lee Joo Bin will be added to the main cast of the series Queen of Tears. 

The two will be working alongside Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won, Park Sung Hoon, Na Young Hee, and Kim Joo Ryoung.

Queen of Tears will narrate the love story of a married couple who manage to hold it in and survive despite the different crises they will face. 

The upcoming K-drama will be directed by Kim Hee Won (Vincenzo) and Jang Young Woo and the script will be written by  Park Ji Eun (My Love from the Star and Crash Landing on You). 

Kwak Dong Yeon will play the role of Hong Soo Chul, the younger brother of Kim Ji Won character. He is the third-generation conglomerate of the family. 

Lee Joo Bin will play the role of Kwak Dong Yeon's wife and Kim Ji Won's sister-in-law in the series. 

Queen of Tears recently finished its script reading and has already began filming. According to reports, the upcoming K-drama is scheduled to premiere in December this year.

 

This will be the first K-drama of Kwak Dong Yeon for the year. In 2022, the actor starred in several K-dramas such as Gaus Electronics, Big Mouth, and Monstrous. He also appeared in the movie 6/45.

With the slew of new platforms on which to watch dramas and more dramas being produced now than ever, there are a ton of capable young actors getting their chance to shine. There are several actors who have been steadily building their resume over the past few years and are ready to fully explode on the scene. Some are at the start of their rise, others are near the middle, and yet others are starting up again. Despite breaking out as the Prince’s stoic (and seriously handsome) bodyguard Kim Byung Yeon in “Love in the Moonlight,” Kwak Dong Yeon seemed to disappear off the radar for a bit. His roles were largely bit parts or side characters, at least until “Vincenzo.” After an incredible performance as Jang Han Seo, which garnered fan acclaim, he landed a lead role in the recently-ended “Gaus Electronics.” As a 97-liner, he still has a few years before heading off to the military, so here’s hoping that he only continues to rise!

He seems to be busy appearing in theater plays this year. He just posted pics from Elephant Song (엘리펀트 송). It will be playing 17th of November until 25th of February.

 

Kwakkie will be one of the actors playing the main character Michael - a young man with a severe obsession with trauma and love for elephants. Michel is the son of famous opera singer Amanda St. James. For some reason, he has been in a mental hospital for 8 years since he was 15 years old.

“Queen of Tears” dropped heart-fluttering stills of Kwak Dong Yeon and Lee Joo Bin!

Penned by “Crash Landing on You,” “My Love From the Star,” and “The Producers” writer Park Ji Eun, “Queen of Tears” will tell the miraculous, thrilling, and humorous love story of a married couple who manage to survive a crisis and stay together against all odds. Kim Soo Hyun will star as Baek Hyeon Woo, the legal director of the conglomerate Queens Group, while Kim Ji Won will play his wife Hong Hae In, the chaebol heiress known as the “queen” of Queens Group’s department stores.

 

The newly released stills feature Hong Hae In’s younger brother Hong Soo Chul (Kwak Dong Yeon) and his wife Cheon Da Hye (Lee Joo Bin). Having to grow up under a strict and competent older sister, Hong Soo Chul takes someone who is complete opposite from Hong Hae In as his ideal type. His business acumen is always less than that of his older sister, so he is often criticized by his grandfather Hong Man Dae (Kim Kap Soo).

 

 

His wife Cheon Da Hye, who is elegant and has the exact opposite personality from her sister-in-law Hong Hae In, is the only person who makes Hong Soo Chul feel worthy and proud of himself. As a wise wife, she always laughs at Hong Soo Chul’s silly jokes, garnering affection from the seniors in Queens Group.

 

The still images below capture the lovey-dovey moments of Hong Soo Chul and Cheon Da Hye. They take great care of each other with actions such as wiping each other’s mouths or feeding each other fruit, showcasing great chemistry as a couple in their third year of marriage.
