Sado Cranks Up September, to Premiere Spring 2015. Veteran to Follow

Previously reported that Veteran planned to première this October. However, Naver Movie Database changed and pushed it back to 2015 without any confirmation dates yet. The movie itself has wrapped up last July.

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In’s first sageuk movie Sado, Memory of Eight Days, plans to crank up on the 24th this month. The film staff said that during the shooting they changed the schedule several times due to the bad weather, but they are optimistic about finishing the filming on time.

An artistic crew who painted Sado’s chamber, recently hinted in his SNS account that the movie, which began production in July 2014, will début in Spring 2015. He said it is worth the wait, because the story is going to emphasize the emotional turbulence of Sado and his father. He added, just by reading the script he already felt so touched.

We already saw a glimpse of Yoo Ah In’s new look for this movie before, and I think it’s gonna be our last peek. The movie producer has set the rules that no one is allowed to share the photos of the lead actors in SNS, because those pictures will give too much spoilers and reduce the element of surprise. Oh I totally support this. I love big surprise!

One thing for sure, though, Master Sik’s fans from DC Inside, who came to the filming location delivering snack truck and lunch buffet to all crews last month, said they literally had a jaw-drop moment seeing Yoo Ah In appeared in full Joseon attire. The physical transformation was so striking they barely recognized him! This report alone piques my curiosity. Hold your breath, SIKseekers :)

That said, I think and I hope we can still see Yoo Ah In attending these two movie premieres next year, considering the active duty’s due date is getting near.

So there won't be any filming pictures anymore? :(:(

SO JI SUB TO APPEAR IN “SADO” AS YOO AH IN’S SON

sadofeature.jpg?w=640&h=266

Wow wow I didn’t expect this would come. When Yoo Ah In appeared in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, many people said he had this So Ji Sub vibe. And here we are, having both in one film -which hint that they’ll be having a family tie due to their resemblance- which is yay!

Actor So Ji Sub will return to the wide screen for the first time after 3 years. So Ji Sub will be a special cameo in Yoo Ah In’s upcoming movie “Sado, Memory of Eight Days” (English title: “The Throne”).

So Ji Sub’s agency revealed the actor will play the future King Jeongjo, who is the grandson of King Yeongjo (played by Song Kang Ho), and the son of Crown Prince Sado (played by Yoo Ah In). Wow, this looks like a reversal acting for both actors, judging from their age :D

During the course of filming, the production team had kept news of So Ji Sub’s cameo a secret until now.

So Ji Sub’s agency told the reporter by phone on Wednesday, March 11, that his special cameo was supposed to be a secret, but apparently the media found the “surprise” out too soon. Well, it’s still belatedly revealed, though.

“We and the film crew wished that [his special appearance] will be revealed to the audience through watching this film”, the rep said. “He filmed his scene a few times secretly in the night and it was concluded last year.”

They added, “The amount of So Ji Sub’s screen presence will be revealed later in the final scene of the film. His part will be worth more than just a cameo level but an intense presence.”

So Ji Sub reportedly decided to appear after Director Lee Jun Ik called him personally. Despite having just a small part in the movie, he decided to accept the role because he had a good faith in the director and the script is extraordinary good.

Sado, Memory of Eight Days tells the tragic story of Crown Prince Sado who was left to suffocate to death in a large wooden chest filled with rice by his father, King Yeongjo. The movie is directed by Lee Joon Ik of The King and the Clown, with Song Kang Ho playing Yeongjo, Yoo Ah In as Sado, and Moon Geun Young as Sado’s wife, Lady Hyegyeong.

The movie is currently in post-production, and is scheduled to open in cinemas in the second half of 2015.

HK FilMart: Hefty Pre-sales Titles Head Showbox Slate
Sonia Kil  | Variety
Korean production and distribution combine Showbox will unwrap a slew of big-budget titles for pre-sale at this week’s Hong Kong FilMart convention and rights market.
“Assassination,” currently in post-production, reunites director Choi Dong-hoon with several members of his team from 2012 megahit “The Thieves.” Returning stars include Gianna Jun (“The Berlin File”) and Lee Jung-jae (“Big Match”), matched with Ha Jung-woo, star of “The Chaser.” They are joined by veteran supporting actors Oh Dal-soo and Cho Jin-woong, who have recently added record breakers “Ode to My Father” and “Roaring Currents,” respectively, to their credits.
Veteran actor Song Kang-ho (“The Attorney”) and young talent Yoo Ah-in (“Thread of Lies”) head the cast of “The Throne,” which also launches at FilMart. Set in the Joseon dynasty, the period drama features crown prince Sado, who is locked up in a rice chest because of his father’s political decision. Period drama specialist Lee Joon-ik (“King and the Clown”) is set as director.
Two other titles got launches at last month’s European Film Market in Berlin: crime drama “The Classified File,” directed by Kwak Kyung-taek (“Friend”), and “Inside Men,” starring Lee Byung-hun, who is mired in scandal at home but has a booming Hollywood career, with credits including the upcoming “Terminator: Genisys” as well as “Red 2” and “G.I. Joe.”
Lee’s agency BH confirmed that he is expected next to star in Film Bridge’s legal thriller “Beyond Deceit” alongside Al Pacino, Anthony Hopkins and Malin Ackerman. Both “Classified” and “Inside Menn” are now in post-production and set for release later this year.
Showbox’s lineup also includes completed titles such as the local box office hit “Detective K: Secret of the Lost Island” and Yoo Ha’s “Gangnam Blues,” both of which have already sold to a swath of territories in and outside Asia.

Yoo Ah-in and Song Kang-ho’s tragic paternal strife in Sado

by girlfriday | July 14, 2015 | 19 Comments

Sado1.jpgSado1a.jpg

The story of Crown Prince Sado never fails to get a visceral reaction out of me, no matter how many times it’s told and retold in film and television. Granted, last year’s drama rendition of Joseon’s most tragic father-son story — SBS’s Secret Door with Lee Je-hoon and Han Seok-kyu — was a disappointment on many fronts. (Still. So. Mad. At. You. Show.) But that also makes me eager to have the movie Sado deliver on all of the epic tragedy that Secret Door couldn’t manage to do.

The first teaser and poster are out for the newest sageuk from director Lee Jun-ik (The King and the Clown), which stars Song Kang-ho (The Attorney) as King Yeongjo, the 21st king of Joseon who reigned for the better part of the 18th century, and Yoo Ah-in (Secret Love Affair) as his son Crown Prince Sado who was sentenced to death by his own father. The movie also stars Moon Geun-young (Goddes of Fire Jung-yi) as Sado’s wife Lady Hyegyeong, and So Ji-sub (Master’s Sun) cameos as their son King Jeongjo.
