Heechul joins flower grandpa body-swap comedy


Well this is an unexpected addition. It was hinted at earlier in the winter that tvN would be rolling out a drama version of their hit variety show Grandpas Over Flowers, with lead halbae Lee Soon-jae headlining. The comedy, called Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit, has now been confirmed for a late April broadcast, and has secured a cast of funny halbaes along with Super Junior idol Kim Heechul. The craziest part? It’s now apparently a body-swap comedy. HA.

Heechul to star in the drama version of 'Grandpas Over Flowers'


Super Junior's Heechul has been confirmed for the drama version of 'Grandpas Over Flowers'!
According to an insider on the 2nd, Heechul has been performed for tvN's new drama 'Flower Grandpa Unit' (title pending) with Lee Soon Jae, Byun Hee Bong, and Jang Kwang. The insider said, "He's going to have a unique relationship with veteran actors such as Lee Soon Jae and put energy into the drama. He's also burning with the desire to work with the big sunbaes."
The drama will air in May on tvN, and will be a comic drama about grandpas in their 60s and 70s who hide their past and live as delivery men. Lee Soon Jae's casting and the format of one young man in the cast with older actors is similar to the 'Grandpas Over Flowers' program, so the drama has been dubbed the drama version of the variety show.

Super Junior’s Kim Heechul will be joining veteran actors Lee Soon Jae, Byun Hee Bong, and Jang Kwang for the upcoming tvN drama, “Grandpas over Flowers Investigation Unit.” In regards to the casting, a representative expressed, “Kim Heechul will show his energy as he acts with veteran actors. He has a great desire to try a new challenge as he works with the veterans.”

“Grandpas over Flowers Investigation Unit” will focus on the past lives of grandpas who currently work at a delivery service. The comedic investigative drama will show three elderly delivery men working with one young worker, displaying a format similar to the variety show, “Grandpas over Flowers.” As Lee Soon Jae will act as Go Kang San, a former traffic officer who now runs the delivery service, the drama will be filled with comedic moments as the young worker played by Kim Heechul will try and adjust working with the three other grandpas.

In the past, Kim Heechul made his acting debut through “Banolim 2” back in 2005 and has diligently cultivated his acting resume. We can’t wait to see this new combination of actors, as tvN dramas never disappoint. The drama, “Grandpas over Flowers Investigation Unit” will broadcast starting in May.

Heechul is confirmed to star in upcoming tvN's drama "Flower Grandpas Squad" 
"Flower Grandpa Squad" is said to be a drama version of tvN's previous popular show "Grandpas Over Flowers". It will revolve around a young elite detective in his 20s and an old delivery man in his 70s, one day the two woke up and found out they had their bodies swaped to each other and later tried all the ways to get back to their own body. 
It it said that Lee Sun Jae, Byun Hee Bong, Jang Gwang from "Grandpas Over Flowers" will also star in the drama. 
"Flower Grandpas Squad" is schedule to be broadcast on April 20th at 11pm after "Let's Eat" ends.

Which, okay, I can see Choi Jin-hyuk being those things… just not necessarily all of those things that then grow into Lee Soon-jae’s body. Choi Jin-hyeok is the younger Lee Soon-jae


Actor Choi Jin-hyeok will be acting out a younger Lee Soon-jae in the tvN drama, "Grandpas over Flowers Investigation Team".
In "Grandpas over Flowers Investigation Team", elite policemen in their 20's become 70 year-old grandpas overnight and struggle to go back to the way they were. It is written by Moon Seo-hee and directed by Kim Jin-yeong.
The veteran detectives are Lee Soon-jae (Lee Joon-hyeok), Byeon Hee-bong (Han Won-bin), Jang Gwang (Jeon Kang-seon) and Kim Hee-cheol (Park Jeong-woo) from Super Junior.
Choi Jin-hyeok is the younger version of Lee Joon-hyeok with an IQ of over 150. He has a remarkable memory and ability to solve cases but is quite conceited and foul mouthed.
Han Won-bin is played by Park Min-woo and Jeon Kang-sik by Park Doo-sik. Lee Joon-hyeok's fiance Yoo-ra is Park Eun-ji.

Choi Jin Hyuk Chooses His Next Role


Choi Jin Hyuk went from his role as Lee Min Ho's older colder brother in "The Heirs" to playing an intern working with his ex wife in "Emergency Couple." But the actor has already made acting plans for after his "Emergency Couple" character woos back his ex wife and finally stands up to his fictional mother.
Next he will play the role of a young police detective, Lee Joon Hyuk, in the tvN comedy "Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit." The character is a genius detective who graduated with honors from the police academy. Despite his impressive IQ, he encounters a mystery he cannot solve when he suddenly ages and turns into a 70-something grandfather. Veteran actor Lee Soon Jae will play Choi Jin Hyuk's character as a grandfather. The actors has been in dozens of dramas including most recently appearing in "Potato Star 2013 QR3," "Ugly Alert," "Childless Comfort," and "Horse Doctor."
Fortunately, Choi Jin Hyuk's character is not alone in his sudden aging. He is one of three detectives who become grandfathers and form the Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit. And none of them have a clue as to why it happened.
One of the other detectives will be played by Park Min Woo, who appeared in "Flower Boy Ramen Shop," "Scandal: A Shocking and Wrongful Incident" and also appears in "Can We Love?" He portrays the younger version of the grandpa played by Byun Hee Bong, who last was seen in "Ohlala Spouses" and "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho."
Park Doo Shik, who currently plays Choi Jin Hyuk's ex-brother-in-law in "Emergency Couple," will play the younger version of the detective/grandpa played by Jang Kwang. Park Doo Shik also played Lee Jong Suk's classmate in "I Hear Your Voice." Actor Jang Kwang was last seen in "Goddess of Fire: Jeonji."
Super Junior's Heechul has been cast as the detective who helps the grandpas recover their lost youth. Actress Park Eun Ji, who was in "Standby," has been cast as Choi Jin Hyuk's fiancée. She will probably not be too pleased by his transformation into a senior citizen. And to add more fun to the plot, there may be more body swapping.
Choi Jin Hyuk may have taken the role in preparation for his upcoming enlistment as a conscripted police officer in the Seoul Police Promotional Unit.  Although he has no set date for his enlistment, it's never too soon to pick up some good detective skills.
The 12-episode "Flower Grandpa Investigation Unit" begins on April 30.
