Hi gemt!!

If u r from Metro Manila, I'm willing to burn eps. 2 & 3 for u (vcd copies).

The prob is u have to pick them up from my office in Makati.

Why is Channel 11's reception bad in your place? It's just a regular channel.

Just dropping by to visit my favorite drama series thread. And those in the Philippines, is QTV finished with airing ALL IN?

I dont think so coz it's just 30 mins everyday. But, i will check later tonite. It must be more than half already.

This was the first drama I watched without Hmong people translating over it. I hate the Hmong translations!

Sky's the Limit for Han Ji-min

'Blue Swallow' Costar Set to Take Off After Minor Roles in Hit Dramas, Films

By Kim Tae-jong

Staff Reporter

ensor200601082050450sky1.jpg

Han Ji-min, left, with Jang Jin-young, center, and Kim Ju-hyuk in

a scene from "Blue Swallow"

As an emerging star, Han Ji-min is attractive and talented enough to go far. But what really sets her apart from other ambitious young actresses is her golden touch for picking the right roles.

In the past three years, she starred in such hit television dramas as "All In" and "Jewel in the Palace," and finally showed up in a recent film "Blue Swallow."

"I think I've been really lucky," Han said during an interview with The Korea Times. "And I don't rush into new roles. I usually take the time to think about my roles before choosing my next job, which is part of my personality."

Han may find herself even luckier this year as 2006 is the Year of the Dog according to the Chinese zodiac, which runs on a 12-year cycle. The actress was born in 1982, a dog year.

Han started her career in show business while still in high school student, when she starred in a television commercial in 1998. She didn't dream of becoming a serious actress, but changed her mind after starring in "All In" in 2003, where she played the teenage counterpart of the drama's main character, played by popular actress Song Hye-gyo.

Han has played mostly cute and feminine characters in TV dramas, but she challenged herself by playing a cute yet ambitious tomboy who dreams of becoming a pilot in her first movie "Blue Swallow."

ensor200601082050451sky2.jpg

Han Ji-min

"It was really difficult to shoot a film, but I was able to learn new things about acting through "Blue Swallow," which I find really meaningful," Han said.

However, she thinks it is quite sad that people criticize the film. The critics argue that its main character was pro-Japanese, and participated in many propaganda activities during the Japanese colonial rule.

The blockbuster film is a fictional account of the true story of Park Kyong-won, a female pilot in the 1920s, with the addition of fictional characters.

"I don't think the movie tries to embellish her. It is more about a dream that one tragic woman had during the turbulent period. And actually I’d like to recommend it to all the people with dreams," Han said carefully.

Han is now shooting a coming TV drama "Wolf (Nukdae)," co-starring with Moon Jung-hyuck, also known as Eric from popular boy band "Shinhwa," and Eum Tae-woong. It will be her first starring role.

"I may be a woman that most female audiences hate because I star in a drama with the two heartthrobs," Han joked.

In "Wolf," which will be premiered on Jan. 16 on MBC, Han plays a cheerful woman with fatal genetic disease, but is loved by two men with opposite backgrounds.

"I will not try to show something new and change everything, but instead I'll do my best to show what I can do well," Han said.

Saipan offers magical moments, healthy lifestyle
By Cho Chung-un (christory@heraldm.com) koreaherald.co.kr (May 13, 2007)

SAIPAN, the Northern Marianas - Holidays in southern tropical regions are rapidly gaining popularity among millions of exhausted city people from around the world. Well, Korea surely is not an exception. The well-being boom in the country has created long wish lists that look for holistic spa treatments, healthy tropical food, and exotic experiences on thousands of "Robinson Crusoe" islands.

Among hundreds of travel packages in tropical regions, Saipan of the Northern Marianas in the Pacific Ocean has recently become a hot spot for local tourists.

What makes Saipan different from other resort islands in Southeast Asia is that it is a place where you can experience luxurious and convenient services all over the island. The fluent use of languages - especially English (the island transferred its sovereignty to the Unites States in 1975), Korean and Japanese - allow tourists to feel at home. Well-organized administrations and guaranteed safety also make the island more peaceful and fully enjoyable.

Another reason why Saipan is gaining recognition among tourists is that the island is quite near to East Asian countries - Korea, China and Japan. It takes only four hours to fly from Incheon to Saipan. Asiana Airlines provides direct flight services to Saipan 11 times a week.

Asiana Airlines, one of the country's two major air carriers, is making active efforts to attract tourists to Saipan. Under its strategic business plans that incorporate airline services with leisure activities, it recently purchased Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort, the largest golf resort in the Island. Designed by the legendary professional golfer Greg Norman, the golf club now has 36 holes. The West course offers golfers a chance to enjoy ocean views while playing the sport. According to the golf club, The East course can be described as a cliff-hugging course with grand panoramic views while the West Course is located on a hillside. Asiana is planning to renovate parts of the golf club, build new villas inside of the resort area and construct a bridge between the two separated landscapes to attract golf-lovers from all around the world.

If you are done with golf in the early afternoon, it is then the time to experience magical moments in sea lagoons with different depths and infinite shades of blue and turquoise, and dazzling underwater coral gardens. There are a number of places where you can just picnic on the white sand or mount an underwater exploration with light equipment. Managaha Island, located north of Saipan and known as the "Pearl of Saipan," is highly recommended. The crystal clear waters allowing tourists to watch at close quarters some of the islands' marvelous marine life.

Among the three main islands in the Northern Marianas, Saipan is the largest, the center of activity and home to most of the big resort hotels and shopping venues. There are a number of lavish accommodations with bars, pools and restaurants beside the white sand beach around the island. The recently renovated Saipan World Resort offers a number of family-oriented activities like water sliding and aqua sports. After dark, visitors are invited to enjoy nightlife at SandCastle Saipan featuring stage illusionists and dancers. The one and a half hour show presents dramatic magic illusions with a dazzling dance revue performance.

Drama 'All In' Gets Commemoration Hall in Cheju

Source: times.hankooki.com

A commemoration hall for the popular 2003 drama "All In" opened Saturday in Cheju Island.

The site, located in the southern part of the island where the drama was partially filmed, is composed of a replica of a church and convent that was part of the show's set. The hall also includes various displays and videos regarding the show.

The buildings were restored after a typhoon destroyed the original set in September 2003. The restoration took 18 months and over 3 billion won, according to the Yonhap News Agency.

"All In," a story about love and gambling, starred Lee Byung-hun and Song Hye-kyo.

Resort isle Jeju a glamour spot for K-drama

By Jeff Chung (KBFD) l Honolulu advertiser

Last week, I wrote about tours to Korean-drama film locations. Here are more spots to see if you're a fan of "All In" and "Summer Scent."

Lee Byung-hun, one of Hawai'i's favorite actors, and Song Hye-gyo were key to the the success of "All In." The show had record ratings in Seoul and also was broadcast in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Byung-hun played Kim In-ha, the orphan who falls in love with Min Su-yeon, played by Hye-gyo. In-ha is accused of murder and flees to the United States, only to return as a gambler working in a casino on Jeju Island, where many of the drama's scenes were shot. South of the Korean Peninsula, Jeju is a popular resort destination for people from all over Asia.

At the Jeju Lotte Hotel, on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, is the famous Dutch windmill where Su-yeon gives a gift to In-ha. The hotel's lobby lounge is where Su-yeon runs into In-ha after many years.

The Hyatt Regency Jeju starred as the Sea World Hotel in "All In." Jeong Won, the hotel's owner, falls in love with Su-yeon, creating the love triangle. On the 11th floor is the suite where Jeong Won tries to tell Su-yeon how he feels. The Island Lounge is where Su-yeon has too much to drink and Jeong Won carries her back to his suite.

Stop by the city's International Convention Center - the second floor was the setting for In-ha's office, which had views of the Jungmun resort on Jeju's southern coast. The Jungmun Golf Club is where Byung-hun's character learns to golf.

"Summer Scent," the third series for producer Yun Seok-ho, aired in 2003 and stars Song Seung-heon as Yu Min-woo and Sohn Ye-jin as Shim Hye-won. Min-woo and Hye-won meet for the second time at the Boseong Tea Garden, in Jeollanam-do province. This location is popular for its cedar-lined walkways and green tea fields. Deogyusan National Park, in Gyeongsangnam-do province, is where Min-woo and Hye-won met for the first time. Producer Yun Seok-ho will be working on his final and fourth series this spring.

This week marks Valentine's Day. In the U.S., it's when men pamper women with dinner and flowers. But in Korea, Feb. 14 is a day on which women give men chocolates. The Korean equivalent of Valentine's Day doesn't come until March 14 - White Day. Here's a handy phrase for the event: "Sa-rang he-yo," which means "I love you."

Jeff Chung is the general manager of KBFD, which televises all of these K-dramas. If you have a K-drama question or comment, call KBFD at 521-8066 or write him at jeffchung@kbfd.com.

title_s_tv03.gif

On March 3, 2003, eighteen reporters from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and Thailand were in a bustle in Jeju International Airport. Why did they come to Jeju Island, one of the most beautiful places in Korea. The answer is All In, a special TV drama produced by SBS (Seoul Broadcast System) based on the true story of Cha Min-su, a pro gambler and a pro janggi(Korean chess) player. Mr. Cha is the model for the main character Kim In-ha, played by Lee Byung-hun. Mr. Cha has had an even more dramatic life than what was portrayed in the drama. He went to Las Vegas with only 18 dollars and became a millionaire. All In is a story about a passion for success, victory and defeat in business and at the casino, and a love sorrowful and pure. It was inspired by Mr. Cha's fiction-like life.

Before this drama came on the air, East Asians were interested in the main actress Song Hye-gyo and actor Lee Byung-hun.

Lee Byung-hun plays an orphan who became a great pro gambler, and his sweetheart is Song Hye-gyo. These two make this drama extremely popular with a program rating of over 40 percent in Korea. They received hard training in Las Vegas and at a special casino in Korea. While making the film in Las Vegas the whole staff applauded their talents and hard work.

Also, Jeju Island is in the news quite a bit these days and the All In drama sets there are becoming popular. Many tourists have already visited the sets at Seobjikoji and other studios, and more tourists are expected to come steadily. All In has already signed a contract with G-TV in Taiwan, and is hoping to be exported to I-TV in Thailand, Hong Kong and Singapore.

All In (2003)

Starring: Lee Byung Hun, Song Hae Gyo, Ji Sung, Park Sol Mi

Language: Korean

Subtitle: English

Number of Episodes: 24

Genre: (Drama)

THE STORY:

Kim In-ha was born to be a gambler. As a child he would travel around town with his uncle, a professional gambler who earns his living by hustling others. As his uncle's "partner-in-crime" In-ha quickly learned how to survive the streets, relying only on his street smarts and gambling skills. Along with his friends, he would commit petty crimes and engage in many fights. Then on one chance encounter in a train he meets Soo-yon, the love of his life.

In a way, Soo-yon's life is a little bit tragic as well. Soo-yon's mother had recently passed away and the only living relative she has remaining is her father who works in a theater as a film projectionist. When she first met to see her father, he was getting beaten up by a group of thugs over an unpaid loan. Seeing as she had nowhere else to go, she moves in with her father and helps out at the theater.

In-ha would frequent the theater to get closer with Soo-yon. One day, he happened to witness Soo-yon's father getting beaten up by a group of loan-sharks with Soo-yon caught in the middle. Enraged, In-ha fought off the attackers with the help of new best friend Choi Jung-won.

To help Soo-yon's father repay his debts, In-ha begs his uncle to help him out. His uncle agrees and in the end they were able to earn the money to cover the debts. But tragedy always have to happen. On the way home, Soo-yon's father was ambushed by gangsters and was killed in the process. Since Soo-yon's father was killed and the debt was left unpaid, the loan sharks kidnapped her as payment. Enraged, In-ha led a rescue attempt to save her, which resulted in one of his friend becoming crippled for life. As revenge, both In-ha and Jung-won decided to set fire to the gangster's warehouse. They were unaware that the leader, Dae-chi was still in the warehouse and accidentally killed him during their arson attack. Jung-won was clear of all his charges but In-ha was left to serve 7 years in prison for the crime. We then fast-forward to the future and we are revisited with the lives of In-ha, Soo-yon, and Jung-won again; this time played by actors Lee Byung Hun, Song Hae Gyo, and Ji Sung, respectively. The three are re-united, and that's when the story begins.

The show is about gambling and going "All In" by sacrificing everything you have for the one you love. There's a lot going on in this movie. It's about gangsters, mafia, politics, and corruption. There's a lot of fighting and deception in the show, but it's also a story about loyalty and love. Like any typical Korean drama there's the obligatory love-triangle. There was a fourth character played by Park Sol Mi of Winter Sonata fame, but her role was very minor. It's too bad because they could have fleshed out her character some more.

all_in_01.JPG

What I like about the show:

Lee Byung Hun and Song Hae Gyo. The two fell in love in real life during the filming but are now broken up. (a little useless information in my part) Lee Byung Hun is always good in all the roles that he plays and Song Hae Gyo is beautiful as always. I think that All In is a very inspirational show. Despite the unfortunate events the two leads go through, they remain true to one another. One great thing about All In is that the show isn't that predictable. Sure, we know that In-ha will eventually end up with Soo-Yon and the good guys will eventually win, but there were so many different sub-plots that the viewers do not know what will happen next. There's a lot of action in addition to the sappy romance and one can learn a thing or two about the harsh reality of business with all the politics and betrayals.

What I didn't like about the show:

I didn't really like the side stories with In-ha's uncle. It's meant as a comic relief, but with so much that is going on in the show it just became a nuisance watching him. His presence didn't really add anything to the story. There were some slow moments in the series, and it could have been two hours shorter if they hadn't repeated the key scenes so often. The biggest problem I have about the series is the horrible English subtitles!!! I know that it has nothing to do with the show, but it really irritates non-Koreans like me.

How do I rate this show?

Recommended. Go watch it. If you want to watch a drama series with a decent storyline, watch All In.

i went to the library today and found out that the drama was based on a 2-book long korean novel (library here has a lot of korean books), which is a similar story but pretty different from the drama. interesting :excl:

Recently, browsing endlessly... I stumbled on YouTube.com. Seems like it's an alternate hosting site for sharing video clips which is quite similar to YouSendIt or MegaUpload but instead of providing a download link, the site readily plays the video clip via streaming.

Anyone who's familiar with YouTube or interested to find out... can give it a try... just click on the link(s) provided, a separate window opens and hopefully, the video clip will start playing. Clips credit to those sharing.
