in last episode 3 and especially ep.4 , Jun (Heo Joon) became  grown up or teenager. but sorry to say, just trying be honest for Kim Joo Hyuk 
i assume , Jun in episode 4 is a teenager (below 20 year / not mature since ep. 1-3 he is just as kid ). its just i feel un-comfortable with the role teenager for Kim Joo Hyuk, its  just , it doesn't fit with his look /face , IMO, i hope MBC could fast forward his role as teenager . i realized its in early episode and this drama has 120 episodes, but i can't help it, its just Kim Joo Hyuk's look really mature enough, so i have a hard time to accept his teenager role. but his acting is good
But, maybe i was wrong, maybe my assumption is totally wrong, i hope ep.4 is not a teenager stage (role) for KJH.
for child actor in ep.1 - 3 really has good acting . love them all. especially the child who played Jun's Brother, yeah his acting as a mean brother really good, and the girl child actress who save Jun in ep.1 n 2 is a beautiful child actress for her age
for the storyline, since this drama is still in early episode i couldn't say much coz its still in ep.4 . But so far so good, i am enjoyed it its a classis drama, u know a concubine son's make a success in his life. from hardship when he is a kid and he can slowly but sure can erase his title as a concubine son and make his nation pride of him coz he make some good action for his nation or family ( in this drama , his father n mother )
but maybe i have an objection for Jun's love story. isn't a little bit excessive for Jun to have a really deep love . it just the girl (who save Jun in ep.1) and Jun are having a love story for only almost 2 episode, but the reaction from Jun when he save her from barbarians looks really weird. i mean he just know her for 2 day ( i assume from 2 episode ) but he is already fall in love so deeply, its just , i feel so unreal and feel be forced . well maybe i have not a love when me as a child so i can say like that.  hehee
btw, when Nam Goong Min appear on this drama ?? i have been missed him since alice in cheongdamdong drama . i hope the screen writer could give a good storyline for nam goong nim's role, he is a talented actor but have a little luck for a main role. cross finger that he could get a lot of screen time

and what i mean is : his "young character" is annoying me, with that kind face expression. because his face is look not young anymore for his young character. his face and his expression is more suitable for a adult or more mature character ( lets say above 26 years old ).

i think MBC should hire some young ( NOT child actor) actor to play Jun's character when he is young, so there is 3 actor for Jun character when he is as a child ( played by Kang Han Byul ) and he is as young character (maybe played with another young actor ) and he is as adult character ( played by Kim Joo Hyuk ) 

n i wish they could fast forward to his role as a mature or adult.

Don't worry , i had the same feeling when I first watched season 1.. He'll ''grow up'' soon so don't worry

@xopo17 Do you mean that a younger actor should have played Heo Jun when he was a young man?  In Canada, the adult age is 19.  I also agree that it is harder to believe when Kim Joo Hyuk portrays a younger man as he does look more mature.  However, if he is a good actor, he may be able to overcome this handicap.
The children actors were very good but I thought the girl looked kind of non-korean, perhaps more like one of the barbarians (mongolian?).  As for their close friendship, I didn't think there was anything romantic.  I mean they're just kids.  Kids often form strong platonic friendships which can develop onto romantic bonds when they get older.

Anyone finding a dead body would be traumatized.  Let along the body of somebody one knows.  On top of which, it was the body of someone who saved his life and on whom he had a first crush.  Also, Hur Joon, himself, had just ran away from death after seeing two people shot to death by arrows. 

So, it wouldn't have been unusual for him to cry over her death.  But, he was crying not only for her, but as a reaction to everything that's he's witnessed. 

Regarding age, I thought it was more of a stretch for those two 'mature' actresses be the mothers of the two young boys.   8-}

 I am going to like this drama ;one because I love sageuks and two because the male lead Kim Ju Hyeok. He is a fabulous actor(I really admired his performances  in " God of War/Soldier") plus I like story lines that revolves around the  development of a character I like to see.how the characters hard work,personal sufferings, and growth( as a person)  makes him someone you can cheer for  and respect his struggle to rise above his circumstance. I  will be rooting for our Heo Joon. I already have begun to dislike the first wife and her spoiled snobbish son.   .It looks like Heo Joon will have to go  through alot before he even starts to realize his dreams.
@xopo17 I totally agree with you about  Kim Ju Hyeok he is waaay to mature to try to pull of a teenager. I think his character(in episode 4) will be like a bad boy(around 30 or so at least I pray so) who is wasting his life always struggling with his lowly position and anger at being abandoned) thanks semi-fly for the downloads you aree totally awesome as always
