  1. Man, the thought keeps popping up in my head that the world would be a better place if all the parents in this show disappeared. They are the creator of all the misery in this drama. And, the first character that needs to disappear is the girl' father. He's worse than useless. Useless, but doing no harm would be better than him. He's delusional with grandeur and lives on past glories. a braggart, for no reason. Discriminates against the poor and powerless. Incompetent and inept. A liar and a cheat, which is why it makes no sense for the family to coddle and respect him. They are enabling his worse faults.
  2. Ahhh ... So, the title VIP means the 'Very Important Person' in ones personal life. And, sometimes, one only knows who is that person only after losing that person.
  3. This drama is great with how the comedy is slipped into what appears to be a serious scene. The characters are hilarious, one minute, s/he is acting like an adult, then immediately, dissolves into a whinny middle-schooler. The acting, by the entire cast, is strong, yet, very comfortable. Actually, this drama is very comfortable and easy to enjoy, compared to the other dramas currently on air. Since we are at the halfway point, we can expect some angst to show up. I suspect that Min Hyuk's parents were responsible for the accident that killed the siblings' parents. And, the volunteering and charity work is their own penance to atone for the accident. Since they made the siblings into orphans, they felt they had to make their son (Min Hyuk) a pseudo-orphan.
  4. Name of this drama needs to be amended to " Bittersweet Chocolate". So far, this drama has been a crying feast. However, that is the better part of the drama. The stomach-turning family characters, inheritance fight and predictable events are so cliche. Wish the writer was more creative with the plot and characterizion.
  5. @NOHAMAHAMOUD2002: Thank you so much for another video. I still think the resolution of his character, in the drama, wasn't handle well.
  6. It would be funny if Netflix intentionally screwed up airing ep 13 and 14 just to gauge viewers reactions, or lack of. Again, another drama where the world is screwed up by the so-called elder generation. If one is an elder, one should know better. Hmmm, "older and wiser" doesn't always apply. Guess "the good die young" does apply because only the bad remain alive to screw up the world.
  7. Thank you to all for sharing a fun time with this drama. An even bigger THANK YOU to jayakris for the translation of the daily previews. It was a rather sloppy final episode, analogous to a broom sweeping the last bit of dust into the dustpan. As I previously stated, the Jang family lacks compassion. If they had shown compassion and care for KI, after the DNA results were known, he may not have sided with his father. See you all on future threads!
  8. Everyone seems to have forgotten that DS, although too clingy, did something invaluable. She saved YW's life. Yet, the writer rewards her with insanity? A bit excessive, isn't it? And, KI is the most pitiful character. His nature was of a gentle lamb. Yet, he was pushed to become a lion. To me, he's always been a lonely little boy looking for warmth and love. They celebrated the 100th episode by giving us another fantastic performance from the Goof Troop. I laughed so hard at their antics. Bravo! Edit to add: Chairman is the 'seed' of all that has happened. Yet, he still is sitting on his kingly throne. Well, someone needs to tell him that his throne is actually a garbage heap and he's at the very top of it!
  9. In the conversation between the Chairman and Fortune-teller Jung, Chairman said CTJ was supposed to only scare YW's father from leaving the country. But, instead, CTJ killed him because he (CTJ) loved JH. I miss Hakuna Matata. He and JM had the only good relationship in the drama. I'd really like to see a comedy spinoff with the Goof Troop. And, their family business would be to serve clients who want DNA results, without bother. They will be a full-service company. From surreptitiously collecting the DNA samples, delivering the samples to the testing lab, and to handing the results to the client.
  10. Supposedly, all three guys, CTJ, Fortune-teller Jung and YW's father, had been in love with JH? Why? I don't see the attraction about her unless it was her link to money. She has the most sour personality, ever. Yep, just as I had gussed, it's going to be a kumbaya ending.
  11. He must know because YW found him and told him she was alive. And, it was in the hospital that they apologized to each other. In today's episode, the one with the most succinct line of dialog was the clock in SH's bedroom. These people must be tree stumps because how can they ask why KI did what he did! Did they skip episodes in the drama, too?
  12. This drama is not solely about romance or mystery. Instead, it is excellent storytelling that adeptly weaved the threads of bias, unfairness, discrimination, romance, mystery, compassion, inequality, family, friendship, etc. all into one drama. Excellent writing of great dialog. Ordinary words that are, yet, so insightful, true, honest and impacting.
  13. Didn't any of these people learned that, "The Truth Will Set You Free"? Especially at this stage where everything is beginning to unravel anyway. The Goof Troop is priceless. I'm watching only for their scenes. Yeah, they are VVIP at the DNA testing lab. They're probably also getting a discount. You get one free test, after you fill up your reward card of 10 paid test.
  14. The missing element in this so-called 'family' is compassion. It is extraordinary that they can turn on or off their emotional links just because of a blood test. Day 1, I love you because we were blood related. Day 2, we are not blood related, I don't love you. This situation isn't a parking meter, where there is time expiration based on how many coins you feed the meter. And, you don't get an overtime parking citation even if you continue to love and treat him as before. Sheesh. Such is the case with KL. How can one say, so easily, to the person, whom you have treated and cared about for thirty years, to GET OUT. Regardless of the sins of KL's father, KL was the infant/child/man that was raised and nurtured in this family. I wonder if there is a salary dispute between the Goof Troop members and the production company. Perhaps, the goof troop haven't gotten paid, so they are 'taking their pound of flesh' by stealing the show with their comedy. They are wonderful; the only lively ones in the whole drama.
  15. I don't know if it is brains or just dumb luck. They make me think of bumper cars that keeps bumping into things, but, eventually and blindly, bumps into the right thing.
  16. The one salvation for watching: Goof Troop scenes. Another family meeting, with unbelievable dialog.
  17. Why restrict it to one or the other? It would be fair retribution for CTJ and MR to live the rest of their sorry lives, without any offspring. And, especially no chief mourner at their funerals. I suspect that if the evidence is too weak to establish a case against CTJ, Chairman will step up and admit to everything he and CTJ did. He will bear witness to CTJ's crimes, which will also implicate himself.
  18. I know that we wondered from whom KI got his stupid genes. But, the more interesting question is where did the youngest generation get their smart genes. JM, SB and Hakuna Matada are so much more intelligent than the adults.
  19. Bingo! Recall that we got a glimpse of CTJ's mother and sisters in one of the beginning episodes. The mother and sisters didn't seem like Einsteins.
  20. Just wait. CTJ, MR and KI will finally have their family union ... in the same prison. Maybe, they can even have adjoining cells.
  21. It would be awesome if Mr Hwang left MR as caretaker of his money, for a modest monthly allowance. But, only under the condition that she lives where the money is stored, i.e., the temple. However, she still can use/spend the money. But, only with TY's approval.
  22. Ahhh, andI don't think a divorce can be invalidated by changing ones name. Otherwise, there would be no need for divorce lawyers. Goof Troop =!
  23. Thanks to jayankris' comment, I went and watched today's episode. OMG! I think the production only have enough money for one writer, so s/he only has time to write for the main characters. The Goof Troop actors must be ad-libbing their own dialog. Maybe, they're even writing their own scenes. I'm a genius, but my father is even smarter. "Father, you have my respect. " "I will get sample fromJH. " "I will get sample from KI." "I will get the ziplock bags!" The Goof Troop must have increased the ratings for this drama. They are truly priceless. With the amount of their brain power, I'm surprised they haven't bankrupt any business they touch.
  24. Rhetorical questions: Would a truly good person want to exact revenge? As for DNA determining a person's goodness, from where did TY get his goodness? Not from his mother or grandfather because they are not squeaky clean in their actions. Perhaps, his father or the orphanage? Instead of being a whistleblower about the account books, which led almost to his death, he could have turned a blind eye. But he didn't because TY has always been righteous by choice. @Jayakris: I'm still with you on KI. Perhaps, he is greedy. Or, perhaps, in desperation, he is just trying to salvage as much as he has been led to believe was his. As I previously said, he feels no love or assurance from anyone around him.
  25. Lesson from drama? At the moment of death, SJ will be surrounded by family. At the same time, nasty chairman is also dying, but all alone. So, who is the rich one?
