Ok Taec-yeon is a Korean rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur. He is a member of the famous Korean boy-group 2PM under JYP Entertainment. Taecyeon first debuted as a member of 2PM through Mnet’s show Hot Blood Men, which was an extreme training for 13 trainees in order for them to become a member of the boy-band One Day. One Day was divided into two groups, 2AM and 2PM.

 

 

Taecyeon is a multi-talented singer who has always gained people’s attention for everything he does. On July 25, 2018, he left JYP Entertainment and signed on with 51K. He made his official solo debut in January, 2017. He’s also well known as an actor and has played in several hit dramas and films.

Dream High

Dream High was a popular South Korean television series from 2011, starring Miss A’s Bae Suzy, Kim Soo-hyun, T-Ara’s Ham Eun-jung, IU, and 2PM’s Ok Taec-yeon and Jang Woo-young. The drama was popular among teenagers and gained high domestic ratings as well as international popularity. The drama first aired from January 3 – February 28, 2011, on KBS2 every Monday and Tuesday.

Dream High took place at Kirin High School of Art and follows the lives of the students as they chase their dreams of becoming superstars. The drama focused on six students who share dreams of becoming K-pop idols, among others. During their school years, they learn how to develop their singing, songwriting, and dancing skills. They also start to develop feelings for each other. Each of them has their own strengths and weaknesses, but they strive to debut with each other’s support and guidance.

This was Ok Taec-yeon’s second drama after he debuted as an actor, and he played the role of Jin-guk/Hyun Shi-hyuk who can dance, but is a troubled student at school. The director of Kirin High School of Art recommends that Jin-Gook enroll at his school.

At Kirin High School, Jin-Gook developed his talents and he dreams to be come a global star. He has a contentious relationship with his father, the Mayor, who did not acknowledge him as his son.

 

Cinderella's Stepsister

Cinderella’s Stepsister is a 2010 drama starring Moon Geun-young, Chun Jung-myung, Seo Woo, and Ok Taec-yeon. The drama tells the story of the the classic fairy tale with a modern twist, and the contradictory relationship between two stepsisters because of their interrelated lives and loves. Cinderella’s Stepsister aired on KBS2 from March 31 to June 3, 2010, every Wednesday and Thursday.

Eun-jo, played by Moon Geun-young, lost her father many years ago and has learned not to trust anyone and be strong on her own. She finally moves to a new family home when her mother remarries. Her manipulative and money-grabbing mother married Dae-sung, the solemn head of a traditional rice-wine brewery. Both Dae-sung and his daughter, Hyo-sun (played by Seo Woo), warmly welcome Eun-jo into their home, and treat her with kindness. Dae-sung’s sincere kindness finally melts Eun-jo’s defenses, and she learns to trust and love her stepfather.

 

There, she forms a bond with a member of the brewery’s staff, Ki-hoon (played by Chun Jung-myung). Hyo-sun, her naive stetsister, stubbornly seeks affection on every occasion, only to slowly realize that she lost Ki-hoon and everything else in her life to her cold stepsister.

Cinderella’s Stepsister was Taec-yeon’s debut as an actor. He played Han Jung-woo, who is the adopted son of one of Eun-jo’s mother’s ex-lovers. When he was a child, Eun-jo was the first person to care for him, giving him a deep affection for her. Jung-woo is selfless, reliable, and always cares for Eun-jo.

 

Wonderful Days

Wonderful Days is a 2014 drama series starring Lee Seo-jin, Kim Hee-suk and Ok Taec-yeon. It aired on KBS2 from February 22 to August 10, 2014, every Saturday and Sunday. The drama tells the story of a prosecutor who returns to his hometown and tries to reconnect with his family and friends after he has been gone for 15 years.

Kang Dong-Suk (played by Lee Seo-jin) grew up as a smart young boy, overcoming poverty and leaving his small town to become a successful prosecutor. 15 years later, he comes back to his hometown for the first time and reconnects with his roots, re-learning the value of neighborly warmth in the countryside and the true meaning of love and family. There, he also meets his first love, Hae-Won (Played by Kim Hee-seon), and falls in love with her all over again.

 

 

In this drama, Taec-yeon played the role of Kang Dong-hee, who is Kang Dong-seok’s younger brother. He is  a quick-tempered person. Dong-hee was expelled from high school for fighting in an attempt to protect his classmate Seo Jeong-ah, who came to him three months later to tell him that she was pregnant.

Nine years later, Dong-hee finds himself living with Seo’s twins, who were raised as his siblings. He works as a bodyguard in the same company as Dong-seok’s first love, Cha Hae-won.

 

Save Me

Save Me is a drama series starring Ok Tae-yeon, Seo Ye-ji, Jo Sung-ha, and Woo Do-hwan. The drama aired on OCN from August 5 to September 24, 2017, for 16 episodes. This drama series is based on the popular webcomic series “Sesang Bakeuro / Out of the World” by Jo Geum San, published from June 21, 2011 to January 16, 2013, via webtoon.

Save Me tells a story of four young men who don’t have jobs, who help a woman who is involved with a cult religious group. In this drama, Taec-yeon played Han Sang-hwan, who led the investigation and gathered strong evidence against the cult religious group, Guseonwon.

After her father’s business failed, Im Sang-mi (Seo Ye-ji), her brother, Sang-jin (Jang Yoo-sang) and their family move to Muji-gun, a suburb of Seoul. The spiritual father, leader of the church offers Sang Mi and her family a place to stay. Her family believes that the people of the church are generous and kind but Sang Mi feels like there is something strange about them.

 

Sang-mi also moves to her new school and meets Han Sang-hwan (Ok Taec-yeon), Seok Dong-chul (Woo Do-hwan), Woo Jung-hoon (David Lee) and Choi Man-hee (Ha Hoe-jung). Her brother, Sang Jin, gets bullied at school and even sexually harassed because of his disability. Sang-jin commits suicide by jumping off the roof to end his pain. Sang-Hwan feels guilty that he couldn’t help and blames himself for Sang jin’s death. The main bully gets off the hook due to his father’s wealth and power.

 

 

 

Let’s Fight Ghost

Hey Ghost, Let’s Fight is a television series that aired on the cable network tvN every Monday and Tuesday from July 11 to August 30, 2016. The drama starred Ok Taec-yeon, Kim So-hyun and Kwon Yul. The series was based on popular webtoon Hey Ghost, Let’s Fight, which was serialized on Naver from 2007 to 2010.

Let’s Fight Ghost is a mystery/romantic comedy story between an exorcist and wandering spirit. Ok Taec-yeon plays Park Bong-pal, the man who has the ability to see ghosts, and he played alongside beautiful actress Kim So-hyun, who starred as Kim Hyun-ji.

Park Bong-pal uses his power to work as an exorcist, banishing ghosts in order to make enough money to undergo a procedure that will take his ability away. When he is banishing ghosts at a haunted high school, he encounters Kim Hyun-ji. Hyu-jin studied for most her life before dying at the age of 19 because of a traffic accident. She is now a wandering spirit and had wandered around the world for several years before meeting Park Bong-Pal. Hyun-jin wants to be free from endlessly wandering the world and wants to ascend to the next life. In order to fulfill her need, she convinces Bong-pal to let her move in, and the two become ghost fighting partners.

 

Hyun-Ji and Bong-Pal listen to various stories from ghosts and sends them to the otherworld. Working and living together, Bong-pal, a long-time loner, finds himself falling in love with Hyun-ji, who is also in love with him. However, both are unaware that they are being stalked by an evil spirit who was the cause of Hyun-ji’s accident, and is also the reason Bong-pal can see ghosts.

Taecyeon completed his military service on May 16, 2019, as a sergeant and active-duty soldier. Having finished his mandatory enlistment, Taec-yeon is returning to the small screen in MBC’s new drama, The Game, where he will play the main character, Kim Tae-pyung.

The Game is a mystery melodrama about a man who can see death and a detective working on a mysterious murder case, and how the two uncover hidden secrets. Kim Tae-pyung is a prophet who can see others’ deaths, but he cannot see Joon-young’s death.

 

The drama is Taecyeon’s first role in three years after his last project Save Me in 2017. The drama will air after People With Flaws, in January 2020.

Taecyeon Expresses Resentment Against Kim So Hyun While Gifting Her with a Coffee Truck

Taecyeon’s not happy that she never came to visit him in the military.

The photos show a coffee truck with a banner that reads, "So Hyun, although you didn't come to visit me in the military..."

And on another sign, Taecyeon wrote, "I'm cheering you on, actors and staff!  And you too, So Hyun.  Although you never came to visit me in the military..."

This wasn’t the first time Taecyeon sent his former co-star a coffee truck. During the drama,  The Emperor,  Taecyeon sent Kim So Hyun a coffee truck that said, "Come visit me in the military" on the front.

It appears that Taeyeon asked Kim So Hyun to come, but she was too busy to do so.

*** “The Game: Towards Midnight” (tentative title) has held its first script reading! The drama will be the follow-up to the Wednesday-Thursday drama “Love with Flaws” and will tell the story of a man who can see the moment just before death and a detective who work together to uncover a hidden secret. The drama is set to premiere on January 22, 2020 at 8:55 p.m. KST. Taec attended the first script reading recently. This will be his first drama since being discharged from the military. Yay..............I can see Taec again on the small screen.  :P

Just got home from Taec's "Lonely OkCat Returnz" fan meeting/birthday party.  Here are the gifts he gave to each and every fan:

Man of men Ok Taecyeon who is sometimes mischievous and sometimes manly as can be, is coming back with a drama.

 

His last appeared in "Save Me" before his national duty summoned him in 2017. This year, he comes back with the MBC drama "The Game: Towards Zero".

 

The singer and actor was discharged from duty in May last year and now that he's recharged and refreshed, he will be back as a mature actor.

 

MBC drama "The Game: Towards Zero" is the story of a prophet named Tae-pyeong, who sees the moment right before death, and a homicide detective named Joon-yeong finding the truth behind a series of murders. Ok Taecyeon tackles the role of Kim Tae-pyeong, the prophet.

 

Throughout the making of the drama, Ok Taecyeon was serious and hardworking, whilst he gave off good vibes the whole time.

 

His co-star, Lee Yeon-hee, plays Seo Joon-yeong, a homicide detective who has a sad story about her father's death. Lee Yeon-hee and Ok Taecyeon participated in the 2019 MBC Drama Awards as presenters, appearing on stage arm in arm.

 

Ok Taecyeon and Lee Yeon-hee co-star once again since the film "Marriage Blues" 6 years ago.
