  1. Yay!! Finally new content from all 3 leads this time. They're so fun, cute and cheesy together (just listen to them heap each other with over the top praises as they introduce each other's characters ). I'm gonna miss them!!

P.s. reminds me of how Hye Jin introduced her then fake Bf Du Shik to her dad as "suave, tall and handsome". I wonder if she made it up or it was an actual line in the script because it fits KSH down to a T. Haha

Apologies @Silverlining93! I just noticed you posted a link for this video earlier

Vent a little, I actually didn’t like how Ji PD got over his crush on HJ so easily. Imagine if there was no Chief Hong and she actually accepted him? Wouldn’t that be a huge mistake if he wasn’t really in love with her but writer wong instead?

I kinda agree, but @ferily gave a pretty good explanation. Also maybe he knew there was no point holding on, as Hye Jin and Du Shik clearly loved each other enough, there was no room for him.

Also seems that the director changed the skin tone or was it makeup of DS in episode 14. You can visibly see the shallowness of DS’s complexion and his eyebags whereas in previous episodes he was always literally glowing.

I did notice signs of bags in some preceeding episodes, but maybe more here due to tiredness as it was heading towards the end of filming? Plus all that emotional turmoil from acting and crying brings out bags even more.

I wish I hadn't seen that last few minutes in this episode. It broke me.

For some reason, this drama is written so beautifully that it opens up all the past wounds in my life. Life doesn't always go as we planned. Sometimes we cannot handle it. But, if we have a strong support system in our life, we can jump back and we can be happy. I am really eager to see Du-Shik and Hye-Jin overcome everything and be happy.

And with this thought, I'm going to patiently wait... to see them happy. Even if this is dramaworld, the story is so relatable that  a sweet corner of my brain fantasizes that it's all real.

I feel you. Gamri grandmother's words really resonated with me, how she told him to eat (good food) as he pleases and be happy from now on. It's a feeling people who have experienced some sort of trauma, or have past wounds feel strongly about-to just be happy from there onwards.

And yes, the narration, the storyline, and the single camera filming style made everything seem so real and alive, it's hard to rewatch all of today's episode.

I too, wish this was a real town with real caring people I could go live in (aside from wanting to witness the beautiful couple with my own eyes!).

No, I agree with you. Three things I notice in this episode:

-buy 2 get 1 milk: was dusik simply kind back then or had he an intention with the act of giving the milk?

-policer selling his collection stuff and buying things for his girlfriend: are they trying to hint that he wasn’t the one who won the lottery?

-Dusik offering Sikhye to Ji PD: is this a joke from the writer that was added more recently due to fans calling the couple Sikhye? Given the sad atmosphere of the situation she can’t add a funny

Personally I think the milk offering gesture was to highlight consistency with Du Shik's character-he went out of his way to buy uncle security guard a carton of milk. He has always been so generous and thoughtful to the young and old, regardless of social status.

Initially I thought with how generous Eun Cheol was with his daily gifting, that he MUST be the lottery winner. But after witnessing how he was selling his belongings so as to buy Mi Seon gifts, I realised he musn't be. Someone hypothesized that maybe Gamri won the money and used it to fund Du Shik's failed investments (AND just my 2 cents, maybe that's how he tried to atone for his hyung's death and help Ha Rang and her Mum get back on their own two feet?)- I like the idea.

I think 'Shikhye' could well have been one of their ad-libs rather than written in the script :sweatingbullets:

Also anyone else notice when Ji PD came to visit Du Sik, Du Sik said to stay for some sikhye? Referencing the drink but also a reference to our Sikhye couple

Yes loved it! I noticed that of all the korean I was desperately trying to understand whilst watching without subs. Hopefully its another of their ingenious ad-libs!

Can I say, we've all been so eagerly wanting to know the truth behind DuShik's trauma, that we've chased the series down to it's last 2 episodes! As much as I want Sat-Sun to come, I also don't want the drama to end :criesariver:

  4. Ahh from the longer preview it seems like Du Shik and his hyung were in a car accident, and the truck that approached must have killed his hyung, whilst Du Shik survived.

Episode 15 is going to be a huge tear jerker.

Can I take back what I said about loving KSH's mellow acting and wanting to see more of it? My heart is already breaking seeing him attempting suicide on the bridge, popping pills to calm his anxiety, and thinking of all the pain Du shik must have gone through in all that time. We're so used to seeing happy-go-lucky Chief Hong, but so little has been shown about how much he must blame himeself for all that happened!  :cries:

  5. Oh no and now the assistant PD's father's illness is apparently caused by Du Shik too?! NO I cannot, why did they end on such a cliffhanger!! We have ONE whole wk to wait and soooo many unanswered questions with sooo little time to see our couple together :bawling:.

Hye Jin is tossing up returning to Seoul at the invitation of her senior to lecture at Uni, and Du shik who inadvertently caused the death of PD Seung Hyun's brother-in-law plus the introduction of assistant PD's father who was the security guard at Du Shik's company.

Why so many plot twists when we're right at the end :nomeme:??!

Now I actually need subs to better understand this all.

P.s. and we have Lee Sang Yi himself, who will sing our last OST!

Love this OST! So glad they've finally released it.

And yep loving all the discussion this thread is generating, its definitely a good read and nice to see various views :)

I have faith that Hye Jin, after her talk with Hwa Jeong, will realize that she has been hasty in pressuring Du Shik to reveal his past. Whilst I feel that she is slightly pushy, I don't believe that she's eager in a negative manner, rather it's her haste in wanting to move forward as an entity. To do it as a couple requires understanding of each other, past, present and future.

After seeing that added preview for tonight, where Du Shik proceeds to call her at the end of the clip, I have even more faith that his painful past will slowly unravel tonight as he starts to tell her his story (he mentions in the initial long preview for ep 14 something along the lines of "this may be a long story to tell").

Super excited to see how this all unfolds, and to witness more brilliant acting from Kim Seon Ho! (KSH is a natural at comedic acting, but displays SO MUCH depth when it comes to mellow scenes)

Omg Lee Sang Yi just updated his IG, with a kid he called Ha Rang! All your deductions are right and he knows the family!!

  7. @Kasmic like you, I watched it live too, and have yet to watch the subbed version.

But I have to agree here, I think our couple will take time apart to re-evaluate their feelings. Hye Jin too needs time to realise she has to back off. Even with the amount of love she has for Du Shik, and I understand a couple should have no secrets and be open with each other but they've lived 34-35 yrs apart, that's a lot of life story to reveal all at once. Besides, the man has begun to slowly open up about his grandfather, his education and his past career, albeit simply. Du Shik on the other hand, needs to gather the courage to tell her all without worrying that she will leave him, regardless of how much fear he has over past incidents.

It will be a heart wrenching and probably frustrating episode, one where I'll probably even want to yell at our leads to please just open up already, BUT a much needed climax to the storyline and secure viewers' attention and appetitie to keep us glued till the end!

Can I say I LOVED Shin Min Ah's mimicking of Du Shik's informality, aka Tom and Mary? Thanks @Kasmic for that Tweet. Now I wish they would show it in the BTS, she was hilarious!!

  8. Noooo! I get the feeling that they may be forced to breakup in the next episode :criesariver:?

On the flip side, I think we may finally be getting the answer to Du Shik's hidden past and trauma. Seems like he has a fear of losing the people he loves.

And today's episode revealed that Du Shik was not the winner of the lottery ticket- he told Hye Jin that he wasn't in Gongjin during that period.

Awww that seaweed soup, trust Du Shik to drink it like it's so tasty, what a good boyfriend. Can't wait till all the truths about Hye Jin's horrible cooking comes out and her touched face that he's been putting up with it. Haha

Oooo seems like Lee Sang Yi cameoed on Yumi's cells with Kim Go Eun! What I was wondering, for such a popular drama that wasn't pre-filmed, there sure wasn't any popular or exciting cameos in the entire drama. And the OST has been rather lacklustre if not for the 1 or 2 songs. Hmmm

  12. @Kasmic I wished they could've given the bromance storyline a bit more screentime, because these 2 have so much more chemistry to show- and get along well from what we can see! But maybe our other side characters in the drama already have so much of a story to tell, its difficult to include everything in 16 episodes, which is kind of a pity. And I've thought this for awhile now, but I wish they included all 3 leads for ONE promo video at least, it kinda seems lonely for Lee Sang Yi to be in it on his own, especially since all 3 of them are fun together as we've seen in their press con. :sad1:

@EInfinity Yeh I'm not sure about puink all over, even if KSH did look good in that peach-pink toned top for his chilling + watermelon scene with Hye Jin.

Actually, I'm not too sure about most of the outfits HJ has been wearing throughout the series, some colour coordinations are a bit bold/really a misfit? And I saw a comment on IG about her red collared green dress in the next ep (from Gucci) rendering her into Santa's elf!

I may be the only one that find the FL still selfish. She wants to dictate what they should do as a couple. She wants to fulfill her bucket list without thinking about the other party. She wants to keep their relationship hidden from the people around them. She's violent. She's still a material girl. It's all about her and her feelings. She's possessive, and almost a stalker. She knows Chief Hong is always busy with all his side jobs within the community. Does he need to report to her every hour?

I understand that it's her money and she can do anything she wants with it. But she's with another person, and while there should be equality in the sexes, when she bought that 5.5M necklace, I find it a bit too much, like flaunting your wealth.

I get where you're coming from @reddragonand you're entitled to your opinions. I too thought that Hye Jin was a little too much to bear as a gf with everything she wanted to do in such a short time. BUT it was filmed in such a lighthearted and cutesey/loving manner, it was hard to dislike, instead more a LOL moment that's easy to laugh off. Her 'violence' was clearly written pmore for the comedy factor (much like My Sassy Girl?), although yes, definitely shouldn't be condoned. Her materialistic nature was explained, and importantly so, she has never expected anyone to fund her lavish lifestyle- she worked her way through college, never expected Du Shik to buy her the necklace or any presents/pay for her meals. PLUS she does redeem herself by selling the necklace she thought was burdening Du Shik, and she has shown plenty of good qualities, i.e subsidising the cost of dentistry treatment for grandmother Gamri, and the kid Ju Ri. Lastly, she wanted to keep their relationship under wraps for gd reasons- 1. gossip amongst the villagers can be too much to bear esp for a new relationship, not forgetting that these 2 lovebirds proclaimed initially that they were clearly just friends, and 2. She had to be considerate of PD SH who confessed his feelings so sincerely to her.

No one is perfect, even in real life, but I reckon Hye Jin's not that bad after all. :selfie:

Does anyone else think that some scenes in episode 12 were adlibbed? Like specifically the scene where Hye Jin and Du Sik were taking photos in the uniform, when Hye Jin was making sounds while taking photos and Du Sik was like, “do you really have to make those sounds?” I feel like that was Kim seon ho saying that and it was an adlib???? I don’t know but it seemed so natural..

Also the scene where they’re looking at the photos and Du Sik hits his head on the table by accident, I also feel like that was a mistake or NG scene by Seon Ho but they decided to go with it… I just feel like so many scenes are adlibs

Yup for sure @ferily! I could tell the close up shot of Shin Min Ah posing twice was not practiced because on her 2nd pose she wasn't prepared and tried to change but ended up (quickly) doing the same hand gesture.

Even the multiple clothes changing scene, I could definitely see KSH being caught off guard when she lifted his top to reveal his abs and her shrieking at his mesh fishnet top. They themselves said the drama was full of adlibs, and you can just tell when its their real expressions and emotions coming through.:getmygrooveon:

They professed their love to one another with their “Saranghae” and I don’t think kdrama land takes that lightly; considering they did that, hopefully they don’t separate for some stupid issue . I like dramas where they couples remain together and work through their issues together . I really hate when they separate and there is a time jump. Please don’t go that route . This is a healing drama where the power of love and your “family” should prove to heal you .

Please, yes this is what all us drama fans are hoping! I wanna see them (or Du Shik really) heal together through the power of love and companionship, rather than escape and sort through their problems separately before coming together again because that would be a rather superficial relationship, not one that has gone through trials and tribulations t.o.g.e.t.h.e.r.

It's the only way the drama can truly feel wholesome imo

  16. I gotta say I for one, definitely appreciate how it feels like I'm witnessing a relationship develop between two real people, DS and HJ. That realistic development from strangers to acquaintance, to fellow villager and friend, to a 'some' and then a couple.

Whilst some may find the plot developing a tad bit slow for their liking, aka what's the deal with DS's trauma- I like that we get to see them develop their relationship as a couple FIRST (unlike most dramas where we barely get any real, everyday typical relationship lovey- dovey scenes till the last episode!) before the trials and tribulations test their feelings for each other, and hopefully they emerge stronger and more in love than before!

I watched it live last night, and my oh my it was hilarious. I loved how Hye Jin portrayed the typical girl in the honeymoon stages of a relationship, dizzy in love and ever so clingy. And her bucket list of things to do with DuShik! Like DS, I thought I heard it wrong when she said it was 4.30(in the morning!) as she went to DS's place, just to see that sunrise :joy:. Like don't you have to work gurl??!

And that outfit fitting session that is a must for korean dramas- whether is the rich boyfriend or girlfriend who takes their other half clothes shopping. Poor DS, but I loved how most of it was probably ad-lib too, SMA was genuinely amused (and shocked) at his fish net body hugging top, and likewise, KSH at her pulling apart his top to reveal his abs. LOL. They were so fun to watch tonight.

I may be a girl, but even I could feel DS's "pain" with everything she wanted to do alright- yet he goes along with it all, haha. OH and that epilogue of him listing what he wants to do for her- that just sums up how much he loves this woman!

After todays episode, I'm really hoping this drama will go 4 for 4 ...

    - Hye-Jin & Du-Sik ... a given

    - Mi-Seon & Eun-Cheol ... he would've today, if she'd just stop talking

    - Hwa-Jeong & Yeong-Guk ... Cho-Hui will help pull them back together

    - Seong-Hyeon & the assistant ... these two are the long shot

    Here's hoping

Agreed!! I reckon Seong Hyeon deserves someone too. After all, he held a torch soley for HJ all these years and his confession was definitely heartfelt too.

And what a better way to gain viewership by having more couples for the audience to root for? I kinda wish Lee Sang Yi had more of a presence/story in this drama though, one would think Mi-Seon was the 2nd female lead over LSY being 2nd male lead (not implying that I don't like watching her and HJ's friendship though!).

@Sunset me too! I enjoy watching it live despite the agonising wait each week because it allows me to savour the emotions and digest the story. Most importantly, if I'm going gaga over the characters or raging at the scriptwriter, there's this forum to share my/our thoughts with :gangnamstyle:

Can I say WOW the number of posts has dramatically increased this wk, the wonders of a mutual confession and that magical kiss. :Megalol:

(PLUS I, like a few of the rest of us, teared up at that epilogue too! Grandpa's wish for DS, and DS discovering that HJ is the little girl from his past. Best epilogue so far!)

Possibly my most favourite scene of the entire series so far :doggie:, AND it's not simply because of the kiss, but rather the raw emotions that come across as SO.VERY.GENUINE by these 2 actors.

I have never valued SMA as a brilliant actress, she's gd, I have seen a few of her works and liked them, but nowhere amazing. But here, that honest confession was so heartfelt, the hint of tears in her eyes so delicate- it honestly made me immerse in this scene so well! Both KSH and SMA executed the plot here so skilfully, I didn't feel like them 2 were acting. Rather it felt like DS and HJ were real and I was watching their love story unfold before my eyes :bawling:.

Oh and can I compliment the editing team- that bgm was a perfect match!

  20. Yes yES YES! That kiss, how sweet is it that he replies to her confession with a kiss first?? Finally they're dating:hooray:

And so many squealing points in today's ep :highonflowers:. Although was DS seriously "stunned by her beauty" when she emerges in his t shirt and pyjama pants? LOL

Who can resist a girl who stays by your side at your deceased parents' anniversary and greets them too? Even my heart melted. But every drama needs a crisis point, and with feedback about the original movie, and the trajectory this was headed for initially-with DS and his fear of losing loved ones, I was afraid he would reject her till the very end. WHEW!!

Can I say I am usually such a sucker for the 2nd male lead, and I do like Lee Sang Yi as well. But this must be the first drama in awhile that I haven't rooted for our 2nd ML, (although with DS hesitating so much and our PD-nim boldly confessing his affection, I must say I did have second thoughts :sweatingbullets:) such is the power of KSH! Now it's left me wondering what will be the turning point in their relationship, I'm certain HJ will return to Seoul at some point, what else will it be that puts their relationship to the test I wonder? :phew: PUH-lease none of the typical- HJ demanding DS to conform to societal expectations and live as a Seoul Uni grad should. That would be too old school drama and not add any value to her character.

  22.

Different version of the preview for Ep 9- And I think this clarifies why DS proclaims to be her bf! I reckon HJ's Dad presents at her house for a visit unexpected (or earlier/later than HJ was expecting), and DS happened to be there but it is late at night. So in typical korean fashion (where it's frowned upon to have a man in a single woman's house late at night), he tries to salvage the situation by pretending to be her boyfriend! :getmygrooveon:And of course, we witness HJ who is shocked at DS's unscripted move. Hahaha. Can't wait to see this scene.

This is probably why Dad does not like DS either (but it could be for other reasons as everyone mentioned earlier), because of the unplanned and sudden late run in with DS, and the fact that he seemingly does not match with HJ in terms of their "societal position". Whereas PD-nim aka Sunbae, is well-presented, well-mannered and has a presentable university degree to boot! :joy:

@pamgb Yes me too! I get that their characters are totally different, and he needs to portray a different image otherwise risk being stereotyped or criticised of being stagnant in his acting. But I think I'm just hanging for those bursts of emotions from him and that deep thoughtful acting. It'll come around soon, hopefully!
