  1. For all the people like me who have found all the episodes too loaded with content this weeks episode gives some solace that ‘everything’s gonna be okay’ through the song!

Seeing Iksun and Junwan so miserable we all needed to hear that. The camp site shot from far looks suspicious to me. I think instead of the much awaited Song Hwa- IkJun - Ujju weekend it’s possibly Jeong Won and Gyeoul who could have gone camping too! Jeong won has a different hobby for every season nah :P

I think a Song Hwa Ujju meaningful scene where Ujju is not sleeping, sick or eating will be closer to the end of the series and same for another scene between Gyeoul and Rosa too.

  2. I think Easter eggs are a way of making the writing interactive and open for conversation.  It’s fun for the writer as it is a way of connecting the writing world they have made for themselves to the real world. Also it’s a tactic to keep the audience engrossed and invested in the series. Overall I think it’s fun!

I agree Some of it may be over analysing and misinterpretation by the audience but some of it does have a lot of effort going into it. I do think the effort pays off in the overall quality of the series.

  3. Thanks @__jesse both your posts are super.

I also read that snow crabs are especially eaten on New Year’s Day. All local food is tied to climate and availability and what we consider detox and cleansing and other modern healthy diet buzz words is also built into our local diets. Snow crabs are eaten on New Year’s Day as they are available during that time but New Years is reset for the mind - a psychological trick to make us feel refreshed and believe in hope and new chances and opportunities. And snow crabs are known for their liver detox properties hence having snow crabs is a reset and cleanse for the body.

having said that I have also read that our body when it faces extreme health dangers and we are unaware we automatically crave the food we need (please do not try to associate this to Ice cream and Rameyon craving during late nights while watching Kdramas :P) Iksun craving snow crabs unseasonally last season might mean her liver condition was already beginning to deteriorate without her knowing.

also iksuns scar was a part of her introduction. I think the writers were going to show her health  issue making a comeback. Plus IkJuns helmet and Darth Vader aka sky walkers biggest fear is losing/sickness of a loved one. I still find IkJuns ‘I will fix you’ to Song Hwa and his sister the most adorable lines. The look in his eyes when he says that makes you believe it too like Song Hwa said. Though her rational mind ignored the heart flutter and associated it with why doctors shouldn’t make promises to their patients instead  :joy:

coincidentally I was watching oh my ghost and he says the same lines to the female lead in that too! In one episode he tries to take the female lead to a psychiatrist  (since she sees ghosts) and says no matter what I will fix you and she reverts saying are you a doctor? Is this Jo Jung Suks patent line?

By the way the helmet from season 1 episode 1 made a comeback in the the scene when IkJun tells Ujju that his old friend is coming back. The daisy and helmet together mean a reset and restart?

  4. Im just worried if Gyeoul herself was abused like the twin boys in the last season. It would be bad enough if her mother was subject to DV. But If she’s a victim directly she’s gonna be one of the most atypical female leads and it would make total sense of the fact that Shin Lee wanted to keep her away from the limelight in season 1 first half as mentioned in her audition initial reading videos. I mean revealing such a back story of an underrated character would be a different level of story writing.

inability to express empathy, being numb about situations (blank face expressions), fear of the future (will we get to go on a holiday, a year is so far ahead), are all from a list of traits that DV victim children ( whether direct or exposure to moms DV) might have as adults and that Gyeoul has shown. It’s so so :heartbreak:

Jeong won is gonna lose it if she has any scars. Even imagining what she must have gone through will drive him crazy given the empath he is and he cannot see people in pain.

I just shuddered thinking about it myself. However sad her backstory may or may not be seeing Jeong Won sensing something leaves no doubt in my mind that they are made for each other. Only she could change his mind about becoming a priest and only he has as much empathy and warmth to embrace her and her past. The way he talks to her softly and patiently in the ER made my heart melt. the way she felt comfortable to be vulnerable and asked him to show affection everyday made me sad for her pain but happy that in a few months everything’s changed for the better for Uri Gyeora. Jeong Won is now her safe place. And it was only fitting that the scene was at his house and she felt home finally. ♥️

This season of hospital playlist is so packed with content but it’s too much anxiety to watch while on air compared to last season. :(

  5. I think IkJun is gonna play Cupid for MinHa as he did for Gyeoul but where his sister is concerned he is too focused on her health and doesn’t want to intervene in her now dysfunctional relationship with Junwan.

I think SongHwa will advise Junwan. Maybe not to mend his relationship directly but to take off some of the pressure and to support him through the suffering that he has been going through alone now for a year.

She’s had a one on one very deep and frank convo with all of them except Junwan. I love her conversation with IkJun where he said that having coffee with her is his treat to himself and then the convo she had with Jeong Won when she read his mind that he’s not going to become a priest and now with SH to understand his past relationship mistakes and his reluctance in the present to commit.

I think the true closeness for Jeong won and Gyeoul will come when she breaks down her wall and tells him her fears and back story. I don’t think that’s going to be a light scene. I also hope that they show Rosa as an antithesis of SKs mom and is willing to accept Gyeoul if she does come to know the truth of her past(though it’s  not necessary that she should know) Rosa is really mom goals she’s so sassy and yet understanding. Of course she is intuitive and has a high EQ as well. I think the reference to her looking young considering the age of her eldest son is also to do a with the fact that she is so open minded, accepting of change and keeping up with changing times. I really do think that people who are accepting of change look younger, it’s just their mindset that reflects somehow in their appearance!

still waiting to see some interaction between Song Hwa and Uju. Someone needs to take the kid camping!!

  6. about Min Ha she’s really a fighter and knows her rights and duties. She has a backbone and she knows righteousness and women’s rights. She also has an innate quality of bouncing back from lows and very stressful times. Also she’s still an effortless and un-obvious charmer. She can make Seok Hyeong talk, answer questions and have a warm coffee voluntarily and without realising. She’s one of those people who can make things work. Moreover she can’t keep quiet she will express her happiness and discomfort both. so where Seok Hyungs mom is concerned I think the mom is learning her mistakes thanks to Rosa and SeokHyung thanks to Song Hwa but I suspect Min Ha doesn’t need saving. She’s a fighter you can’t keep down. ♥️

I think fiesty MinHa can help herself should be one of the options!

also I still do think Jun Wan and IkSun will get back together but it’s going to get emotional and stressful before they do where her health is concerned but I think the story has taken this turn not warranted by the writing plot but possibly due to lesser screen time for IkSun. I read somewhere that the actress is shooting something else or for some reason cannot give as much time to the series. Else noble idiocy seems a very strange route to be taken by Shin Lee.

  7. About Seok Hyung Min Ha:

I think SongHwa told Seok Hyung to speak anything with people he is close because that is a starting point for him to be expressive. One of the main reasons why his marriage did not work is that though he tried to work things out they were always methods that drove his wife away rather than closer- sending her to her parents house or sending her to study abroad. He not only avoided the situation he drew into his shell and refused to communicate. She wasn’t aware that he cared about her. She wouldn’t have been driven to so much paranoia/the stealing episode if she had gotten professional help and did not feel lonely but instead felt cared for. So the exercise to speak nonsense is a way of him coming out of his shell. I think IkJun also called him a tortoise today right?

about him giving MinHa 4 more chances, I think it’s his way of giving her time to accept a No. but having said that he decided to use the speak nonsense or anything to people close to you on Min Ha which means he is closer to her than he realises. Even if he tells her no the 4 times more he might ask her out himself when he wakes up from his hibernation like a bear, there’s no rule for that, correct?

we still have no clue about MinHas cake and Song Hwas coffee.

    about IkSun Junwan:

I think she’s not terminally ill but is possibly looking at a liver transplant if her health doesn’t significantly improve. I do think they will get back together. But I don’t know when will JunWan see her :(

despite all the parallels between Rosa and the hospital director and IKSong. I think the parallels are because they are soulmates. And soulmates can be romantic or not. Rosa and the director may not be a couple but IkSong can be, but both the pairings are soulmates for sure.

It obviously looks like Gyeoul’s backstory will be shown in the coming episodes and it’s amazing that Jeong Won was intuitive that she wanted to say something but did not and he did not force her either seeing that she needs time. but if any exposure to domestic violence is true I’m so glad she found Jeong Won. God answered her prayers by sending him to her. She truly is his special child ♥️

although the moms stories so far did not make me cry the scene today sending the letter and donation card to the donors parents truly made me cry. Oh my god can’t even imagine.

  8. From my perspective, I think the hints towards marriage rather than a foreshadow are to show that they are already married in their heads where commitment is concerned and another person definitely can’t disrupt the loyalty and commitment they feel towards each other. Their bond is already that intense and deep and the next phases in their relationship will be similar to making a marriage work.

Any screen time dedicated to their marriage after this is only fan service in real life and for their families in the series.

I think giving up his lifelong goal of becoming a priest suddenly makes Jeung Won more aware and focused of what he has decided to do alternatively. That’s why the children’s hospital and his professional goals (all more selfless than selfish) are so important now. He is suddenly on a sort of mission to make everyday count. Also when he was set out to become a priest he had everything planned - he planned his leaving months in advance. He has that kind of clear vision. It’s just that after the twist of fate he’s applying his clear vision to his goals for the children’s hospital and Yulje now. Also he’s someone who can’t do things half heartedly. So he couldn’t become a priest cause he knew he’s hopelessly in love with Gyeoul(even though he was not sure about her relationship status). Now when he’s looking at his professional goals which are focused on helping people he’s gonna go all out too. It’s all in for him always!

  9. For Gyeoul : I think it’s another job offer. I hope it’s not much else.

For Song Hwa: it possibly means that she will be coming to Seoul less?

I don’t think IkJun and JunWan will have a rift, the only thing Ikjun is gonna think about is his sisters health I’m sure. He will pull his leg and tease him later when his sister gets better. And IkSun and Junwan will be able to make up I’m sure and I think she will choose to stay back in Korea.

if IkSun needs a transplant I wonder if IkJun will donate his liver.  Was the other doctors siblings surgery that IkJun performed a foreshadow for IkSuns surgery?

  10. I feel bad for IkJun. Song hwa wants a break, his sister is not well (impacting Junwan also) and something is going on with Gyeoul (impacting Jeung Won also) his entire support system is kind of crumbling.

I love his confidence and the way he told Song Hwa in season 1 that he will fix her and in Season 2 to IkSun that he will fix her. So Him sitting alone and having coffee is :heartbreak:

whatever is wrong with Gyeoul I hope it’s nothing to do with having kids that would be absolutely cruel on part of ShinLee.

I think I should stop watching the previews to keep my anxiety levels in check :joy::joy::joy:

  11. @1ouise thank you for the info about the actor.

also for MinHa and Seokhyung I think she fills up a void in his life that he’s not aware of himself. The amount he does for his patients and for his mother I think his life in some way like IkJun is full of responsibilities and as much music nourishes his soul there’s still a void that only a companion can fill.

Bear represents Seokhyungs introvert personality as bears hibernate during winter but human beings irrespective of their personalities need a companion. Companionship and emotional support have nothing to do with him being okay being single. And he maybe okay alone for now but as his mom said he can be happy with someone, a fact that he’s been denying as he doesn’t want to drag another woman into his family drama and go through the guilt again. As IkJun pointed out he did not say he doesn’t like Min Ha plus it’s not about romantic relationships like @__jesse mentioned  about Rosa it’s someone to rely on and something to look forward to, something to ground you, people who are home.  Like Ik jun mentioned Songhwa has her brothers and he has Ujju.

also I like the fact that all of the friends have radically different characters and personalities but each of them have overlapping traits. Like Buddha can be used for both Jeong Won and Seokhyung. IkJun and Songhwa are both brilliant mentors. Songhwa and Junwan have their food habits in common. Seokhyung and Junwan both seem emotionally withdrawn but that’s not the case. Songhwa and Jeongwon are very empathetic with patients and so on.

  12. @leftphalange oh that’s great that ShinLee  usually have a happy ending. Kdramas in general and hospital playlist in particular has been a happy place for many in the past 15 months ♥️ And thanks for answering the question about the series still being filmed.

I haven’t seen Prison Playbook but I read comments saying that Looney did not have a happy ending and people were glad to see him happy in an alternate universe.

Having said that though I’m not aware of Looney’s character I was happy to see the actor in HP as he had a very calming presence on screen and he addressed the point that Song Hwa did not answer IkJuns confession in a straight forward and sorted manner that it got through Song Hwa’s confused state of mind. The love stories in HP are of characters who have just turned 40 and they are set in their ways and had this point been addressed by a known person Song Hwa wouldn’t have been open to the advise. Plus any of the others addressing the issue could have a biased point of view since they are friends. Also for her to seek advise was awkward and  pressurising since her decision may impact  the group dynamics.

Also I did try to fast forward through Prison Playbook episodes to understand Looney’s story and noticed that the couple ring that his boyfriend had got for him and was holding in his hand but couldn’t give Looney was the same or very similar design as the one that Junwon wears and pairs with Iksuns ring that got returned.

  13. Does anyone know if the shooting is complete or ongoing. The winter garden kiss as per Twitter users was shot on April 7th. So what about the finale is it already done?

    @leftphalange

I think all couples including Gom Gom seem to be set for a happy ending which itself sounds alarming as we know ShinLee always has an element of realism and all of them finding the love of their lives and all relationships working out seems too good to be true.

Specifically  for Gom Gom when Seok Hyung spoke to IkJun in the last season he never said that he doesn’t like Min Ha.

then again I’m hoping the point of the series maybe is that everything works out - the 2 years of their lives when they came back together and everything magically fell into place. You know it happens like a time when everything seems to go right and it is a wonderful phase of their life as a group of friends? When time, group synergy, music and love all came together? Hope ShinLee is reminding us how good life can be and the good phase is round the corner after the pandemic ♥️

  14. I absolutely agree @partyon that it’s Gyeoul who is going to let everyone know somehow and it will be hilarious. I wonder if it will be out of jealousy for the new ER resident doctor :P I think she has been straight faced for so long and other than knowing that she is crazy about Jeong Won and she is Army we havent really got her reacting to anything and it’s high time she reacts to something! as amazing as she is she’s human too...

For Songhwa and IkJun I realised as different as they are they are alike too. As much he chides her for taking on more work he also went out of the way and beyond his already packed schedule to help both the Mokpo patients. I wonder if the mirror scenes in the rejection scene meant that they mirror each other as people in things that matter though their smaller daily habits are very different like the car covers :joy:

the way she trusts him as him being the best doctor asking his opinion is so amazing. As much as he teased her he was just as proud of her for turning down the interview and he would have done the same for his resident. Also the respect they have for each other - they both went so out of the way to be normal with each other so far after the rejection convo. She doesn’t flinch when he places his hands on her shoulder as she knows he always did that and he also behaved just as funny as he used to and she still laughs at his jokes. Andddd more than anything she still asked him for dinner!! I’m sure both were concious but both did their absolute best to be normal. It takes a lot of restraint to do so! they really don’t want to lose the other.

also the mokpo hospital and IkJun calling his rival a trail blazer if they do land up together as a couple I could see him and Songhwa moving to a smaller hospital like that to save more lives at the end of the series. Which again shows That they are more alike than different though IkJun said he loves the city he would totally move seeing his keenness to help in this episode.

  15. Ik Juns rival doctor, can anyone recognise the voice?

his voice is similar to Kim joo-hun from start up/ do do sol sol la la sol/ it’s okay not to be okay.

what do you guys think is this voice (whoever it  maybe) a new character?

about IkSun I’m really confused, Jun wans reaction is as if she confessed to cheating him or had a one night stand cause she felt alone and lonely but that is totally not like Iksuns character. Confusinggg

  16. I also think that Jeong Wons headaches were because of stress cause he had to take such a crucial decision of his life. I think what he told the girl was half truth since he did not want to lie about any danger to her life or any impact on her life expectancy.

I think the health scare is more likely to be for Song Hwa if at all. I do hope that they keep it light and there are no health issues for any of the characters!

Also IkSun entered the hospital in the Darth Vader helmet and the back story of Darth Vader is Anakin Skywalker who’s greatest fear was  of losing his loved one. And when IkJun said I will fix you to Songhwa in Season 1 when she asked him what if she’s actually sick it kind of reminded me of Darth Vader and his back story.

  17. I agree in fact as a best practise people serving stuff or taking orders in multicultural cities are taught to pay attention and lip read too if they are not able to understand. For a cash counter person not to be able to understand or even attempt to lip read simple two words like Please or Latte something they hear countless times a day is not possible. Cappuccino and Affogato may be mispronounced but with Latte it’s shorter and easier to pronounce. And she is in London a city that loves their lattes just as much as Koreans love their iced americanos. In fact of every 4 coffees ordered in London one is a Latte as per 2018 polls. If people are not understood it makes them feel flustered and out of place it’s one of the ways to make someone feel alienated. It is racism :heartbreak:

  18. Unpopular opinion but I don’t think the coffee is from Ik Jun. cause if it was him as brilliant as he is he would already know that she needed the extra shot or decaf. He’s too confident and knows Song Hwa too well to give two options :P I think it’s more likely Sun Bin.

Im a IkSong shipper but somehow I think something is off here and don’t think the coffee is from Ik Jun.

Also we have two back to back food secrets now first MinHa and the cake and now this coffee.

  19. @Ameera Ali this scene was super. Ik Jun is cupid. And in the elevator scene he was ready with a bow arrow and ttetbboki dance aiming at his new designated couple.

I sometimes wonder if Song Hwa wants to do so many things too and is nick named ghost cause she wants to match her energy levels to Ik Jun. Ik Jun has always been described as an all rounder by all other characters. Was Song Hwa always a multi tasker or is that something she learnt from IkJun. I mean friends influence each other especially in college days!

Also the scene in season 1 when during college days Song Hwa looks at Ik Jun in awe while singing/playing the guitar. Is that the reason she wants to be the vocalist always cause she can see and be with Ik Jun versus if she was playing the keyboards or drum she would be behind him? The amount she laughs at his jokes of course she loves being around him!

  20. Uff this was by no means a happy or warm episode. I think every body in this episode was on the edge or brink point.
Song Hwa and the residents were at the limit of physical exhaustion. IkJun was facing mental exhaustion. Seok Hyung was facing pressure due to a serious case that was touch and go any minute and ended badly. On the other hand even Jun Wan had a very difficult case where the child reacted positively. Seok Hyungs ex wife was also at a decisive point as she waited for his reaction to her approaching him again.

Ik Sun is emotionally exhausted with a long distance relationship, being far from home and familiarity and then facing racism. If someone from the army who has been through a lot of training is impacted the incident clearly wasn’t one that can be brushed of lightly. It was only Jeong Won who had recently crossed his crossroad and received reassurance from a patients mom that he did the right thing.

Oh and ofcourse the mothers - with children of all ages and different stages of illness and recovery, literally what they go through everyday is a test of patience. Mothers have endurance but sometimes they can be at the brink of losing their balance and equilibrium too. It’s not cause they are weak in that moment but it’s because they have been strong and held on too long. But still it’s only mothers who can have a heart to understand that the doctor did their best beyond their own grief like in Seok Hyeongs case.

I think it’s days like this when we question everything in that moment when we are in the midst of crucial situations. We question the universe/god/karma/destiny (Ik Jun kept saying nothing is going his way) , question our abilities (Seok Hyung sitting with his text book and possibly reminding himself why he loves doing what he does), our will power, our decisions (Ik Sun possibly wondered is it worth being away from home when she faced racism) and on a lighter note the caffeine in our coffee (Min Ha). I have actually questioned my coffee on very hectic days too just like her! But we have to pick up the pieces and walk on reminding ourselves that it’s a bad day and bad things happen sometimes to good people.

But we have juniors who buy us pastries, professors who give up interviews for us, colleagues who buy us coffee (Jeong wan and Jun wan, Song Hwa and her surprise coffee), doctors who leave us messages, patients who get us flowers, doctors who console us and moms who thank doctors for what they do (Jeong Won) and Stranger moms who console other moms.  And so we get strength to keep going. Life is nothing but that delicate mix of holding on and letting go ♥️

On a lighter side I’m pretty sure Song Hwas I like you is another miscommunication in English. The coffee should be Ik Jun and I really really want it to be! but I don’t trust the writers somehow :P Also I missed Uju and am looking forward to the next episode featuring him. I wanna see Song Hwa and Uju together! Oh and I wanna see mama Rosa and Jeong Won together and her face to face reaction - will she admit that she knows who Gyeoul is?

I haven't been frequenting forums since Season 1 so can anyone just enlighten me... why is the Seok Hyung/Min Ha 'ship called GomGom? WinterGarden, I totally get. And what's the 'ship name for Ik Jun/Song Hwa and Jun Wan/Ik Sun? Thank you!:)

    ikjun Songhwa is IkSong

not very sure but I think it goes like this

    - i think GomGom means bear

    - the experienced nurse called Min Ha a bear and the other resident doc wh works with Min Ha who is cunning and avoids work a fox

    - I think MinHa called Seok Hyung a bear or compared him to a bear cause he is slow and wouldn’t understand and she felt that he can’t sense the patients emotions/situation.

    - she also had a bear with her in the restaurant when she was going to confess on Christmas Eve
