  1. Why he said what he did is because of the combination of caffeine, lack of sleep nervousness and anxiety.

He hasn’t slept in the last 5 days, hasn’t eaten well and has been alone and on coffee. The shaking hands and coffee cups signify anxiety further heightened by too much caffeine.
The entire situation is lethal sort of - the nervousness and anxiety of facing the world as an artist first time makes him vulnerable, lack of sleep makes him put his guard down and too much caffeine makes gives him momentary courage to ask her to stay.
but the thousand emotions in his eyes when he asks her to stay is acted so well. Cant wait for today’s episode!

  2. Just now, LeftCoastOppa said:

So, by the end of the drama Choi Ung will have done two things at least once ...

    - Give Yeon-Su a "what if" question ... what if I had told you I loved you back then?

    - He will draw a person for the first time ... Yeon-Su

Just so surprised how much I'm enjoying this drama, the chemistry between these two is just incredible.

I feel he has already drawn her and has her sketch stored somewhere. The point is not that he doesn’t draw people it’s that he drew only her and she changed so he went back to drawing buildings.

  3. I wonder if the grandmother is a reflection of the female leads mental state. When she fought with the male lead the grandmother also had fought with her best friend when she met the male lead again and all

was okay on the surface atleast after she came home the grandmother was playing cards with her friend.

oh my god if they are gonna make this sad by showing the female lead having some major mental disorder and the male lead being the only one who can take care of her I’m gonna cry cry. Please Writernim be kind it’s December and festive season don’t make us cry.

Also I like the idol singers character. I can almost ship Choi Woo Shik with her cause she’s happier, open, warm and loving. Also she’s alert and smart and can read the room. So refreshing and different from the stereo typical air headed catty Idol singer characters. She would actually be a light in his bleak life.

But then Choi Wo Shik and the female lead have too much history. It’s not just the time spent together, their lives and souls are entwined in some way. They are that couple who are together in their head even when they are apart. So far they have just stopped short of making the relationship toxic. The bond they share is so far written and enacted as a beautiful and undeniable one and not really possible to attain again with another person. So him ending up with the idol will be disservice to  the idols character too. Again hoping the male and female lead land up happily together and it’s not sad in any way, no mental disorders, no sad ending.

Arghhh watching ongoing shows is so much anxiety. But can’t wait for them to end and watch later either!!

Also on a side note V’s voice and Choi Woo Shik’s drawing visuals ♥️♥️♥️

  4. So far so good. I think the male leads story has been well developed so far and we know why is he the way he is.

for the female lead i think we still don’t fully know her. The story telling is purposely hiding her away. When she came home and cried in the flashback I agree it was suddenly clear to me that grandma might be an illusion.

for the Pd the story with the assistant is really very similar to Hometown Cha Cha. it’s interesting at times but then seems boring cause of the repetition. Having said that his character also has not been completely revealed yet. I think he’s been jealous or insecure of the male lead all along but he’s not a negative character and has his own reasons for seeking love and attention. Also he did always like the female lead which is becoming quite clear now. I think they have purposely not given the reason why he is remaking the story also. Is it because he realises that they can be happy with only each other? Or did he unknowingly/knowingly drive them apart and feels guilty?

How we deal with an Ex and whether we should  get back with an Ex varies a lot from person to person. This topic has so many different views and opinions. But everyone’s opinion is almost passionate and extreme when they talk about this topic. Also a break up doesn’t just end the relationship it’s a dissection of sorts in your head of the good stuff bad stuff but majorly how you were at that point of your life. You may curse the other person all you want. But it lays you bare in front of yourself. Like the female lead looking at herself in the mirror crying. You can’t work on the relationship post a break up cause it’s over but your work on yourself only just begins. It’s a process one we can’t usually expedite.

Also the nerves that are touched while meeting an Ex again can be very raw for many many people. It’s too many emotions that mix up  and are handled differently by everyone and sometimes it’s a live wire no one knows not even them selves how they will react. You can see that in both their behaviour. Them saying stuff they didn’t mean to.

it’s an interesting series. They have decided to deal with very raw human emotions. How they handle the emotions is the key. Either they will handle the series well or it’s gonna be a messed up one that feels like a toxic relationship. It can go either way. I hope they direct and handle the topic well and it’s worth our time.

  5. I think the whole scenario the 2008 housing crisis post Lehman,  the suicides that happened really did happen. Were these lives lost for no reason? Yes - as money should never be greater than a human life. Were some fund managers or any sort of money manager directly at fault? That would depend on case to case. But as a group of people the finance community did go overboard and were driven by greed, ego, a certain ruthlessness and recklessness at that point in time. Money had become a game to them and they were high on that money and the power it gave them . Greed is one of the Seven sins for a reason. So it was a little of everyone’s fault.

Some people who saw direct impact of the greed on people couldn’t take it like Du Shik. He mentioned the profession was too money oriented for him to begin with. He was good at his work because he has a knack of being good at almost everything but was it a fit to his personality? may be not. Others reacted in varied ways. But I don’t think anyone was left unscathed. It’s just that the lessons learnt and reactions were dependant and directly proportional to their conscience level.

So although Du Shik shouldn’t be blamed for the Hyung or Watchman I just think that they all were ill fated like Ji PD said  because those times were really bad and they all were in the midst of it. Whatever happened to any of them was indeed bad circumstances but it was caused by a part of the human race or a group of people driven by greed and being absolutely insensitive to the fact that money has a direct impact on human lives and their survival, it’s not a game for all.

But I think what’s important here is for everyone ruthless person in finance who survived the crisis less impacted there will be a Du Shik and watchman who’s life was ruined by it. There were countless people who couldn’t survive the financial ruin to their savings. And there will be a Hyung who’s life was collateral damage. It was the human race driven by greed that caused all the disaster and mayhem.

yet it was still a community of people - the Gongjin poeple, Hye Jin, Ji PD and even hyungs wife who turned a leaf and told her son that Du Shik was family because honestly that’s what her husband would have wanted. For every human driven by one of the 7 deadly sins there will be more who understand love and belonging. No heartfelt good gesture is small like Gamris message to Du Shik. Like the Gongjin people keeping Du Shik busy. There is a healing power in communities - through the kindness and  love making you feel that you belong and are valued. That’s how humanity survives generation after generation. That’s how hope survives and tides and times turn from bad times to good times ♥️

  6. Well today’s episode was a cry fest. But I still think it was handled in such a way to be least hurtful as they are limiting the sadness to 2-2.5 episodes.

The tanking stock markets seems to be similar to Lehman brothers and 2008 and I have heard stories of the high suicide attempts during that time and even the most stable people in finance breaking down. Those eery times are etched forever in their memories. I’ve even heard that they left work everyday overstressed and overworked wondering if they wil still have a job to come back to next day or will they be clearing out their desk. Also the ordeal was for months on end and almost 2-3 years for some companies. Some companies seeked bail outs and their fate hung by a thin wire for a long time.so although it seems like a big coincidence that they are all connected to one tragedy maybe it’s also the writers way of representing how widespread the trauma of those times was. Cause everyone saw everyone suffering especially if they were in banking or finance. And for some countries that depend on that sector largely it was even more widespread.

I think they had to show gamri passing away to show that this time Du Shik takes the time to mourn and it’s okay to feel every emotion wherever it may lie on the spectrum from very happy to very sad. I just hope it’s a really happy ending and there’s no sudden shock.

Also I think with gamri passing away I do think it’s possible she won the lottery and left that for Dushik. Because honestly he was there for her when her family wasn’t and him giving away all his money to do has family was more penance than the mistake committed by him.

Hyungs wife’s anger was kind of justified in the moment because as a wife she would always wonder what if her husband had decided not to go with his friend whom he considered a brother. But she turned a leaf and forgave him after 2-3 years which I think is an okay time considering she did not take a decade or two to turnaround which would make the forgiveness redundant due to the time lost.

But in the case of Do Has mom she used DuSiks entire life savings for a better life/ better apartment even though DuSik had actually warned her husband about the investments. Du shiks only mistake was possibly not answering his calls. I found DoHas moms behaviour selfish really.

so gamri leaving Du Shik money I feel is only his good karma coming back.

  7. It sounds far fetched but I wonder if the coffee shop dad won the lottery? Because one theme that has been consistent with this series is that never judge a book by its cover and considering he’s actually a failed singer it makes sense that he is secretly rich. Also his cafe barely does well but he’s not shown to worry about money. Also if he’s rich he possibly helped arrange the Gongjin fest and called DOS for a performance?

i wish like the movie Sweet Home Alabama they could spend time in both the city and Gongjin ♥️

but Hye Jin going to Seoul and coming back or deciding to stay is I guess one final hurdle for them, which I think is much less agonising than his trauma honestly. So they should sail through the move to Seoul test if they can survive through the trauma all the more since the whole past is actually unravelling in front of everyone which makes the reopening of old wounds and the dealing with it deeply personal and yet public.

  9. From what I understood I thought Ji PD is Seonah’s younger cousin and hence he called her mother emo meaning aunt (mother’s sister or friend)?

I think its Seonahs son with Hye Jin since she has sort of been a kid magnet since the  first day. Kids like her and she likes them.

but I think Seonahs role is deeper than what’s shown and she has also come for closure and forgive Du Shik for what happened or say sorry for her harsh words which given the circumstances were not unexpected. So I think the whole run up to the finale is not for who’s at fault or not. It’s about closure for everyone involved in the incident.

Also i feel it makes sense that a dentist and someone well educated and perceptive and open in communication like Hye Jin fell in love with Du Shik and he In turn let her into his life cause she has the sense and EQ to understand him. If not her it’s very unlikely any normal village girl would get through him or be able to cope with his trauma alongside him.

Also on a larger level the series also addresses the re assimilation of people who have had history with PTSD, survivors guilt or self harm into normal society. I think the writing team has focused on these subjects as ‘cleanly’ as possible so that it doesn’t make people so uncomfortable that they stop watching and they can achieve their goal of addressing the issue and destigmatising it.

  10. Going back to episode 1 I think the lady that Hye Jin treated mentioned her daughter. I feel the daughter has some role to play in the story. Maybe she offers Hye Jin a job or an opportunity to come back to

Seoul and Du Shik breaks up with her since his trauma won’t let him go back to the city? Or possibly the lady’s daughter is the noona in the picture?

I think the pic has Du Shik in it and he’s the child’s god father. He feels responsible for the fathers death who was his good friend.

    Spoiler

But there was a theory sometime back doing the rounds on Twitter that a viewer spotted divorce papers dated 2018 in Du Shiks house.  If that’s true then I can’t understand how that fits in the scheme of things.

Also so far Du Shik hasn’t been portrayed as a person who would hide a divorce it would be very uncharacteristic. And Hye Jin wouldn’t accept hiding a divorce honestly the way her character has been portrayed. Him hiding a divorce and her accepting such a big hidden truth/lie both seem not in line With their characters!

  11. @ferily Agreed… I found it just too adorable that she was still holding onto his T-shirt. It really seemed like she was really her vulnerable self with all walls broken down at that point. The little girl who grew up with out her mom and the little girl who grew up too fast taking care of her dad with a drinking problem instead of being taken care of….The girl finally found someone she could cling too without being concious of appearing  ‘needy’. Also Dushiks smile and actions accepting her how she is letting her sleep on the couch, reading to her and sleeping next to her on the floor. That was the first scene where both their walls broke down simultaneously, knowingly and without a care I’m the world.  (Earlier when she cried in the hospital it was just her and the stabbing scene it was just him but both without realising and impacted by the situation).

Any guesses on why DS was at HJ’s house that night to catch the pervert? The Tvn stills had one picture where he was standing near the pillars of her house but I don’t remember seeing it during the episode.

I was wondering this too. I think it will be addressed in one of the epilogues!

Also the first person to know his story I don’t think it’s the person who passed away because Du Shik had a big smile in that scene and it did not seem to bring back any past sad memory. Could it be the teenage Hye Jin that he met when he gave her coins to pay for the milk? Or could it be gamri?

  13. of Love and Tags:

when I now look back at Hospital Playlist and  all the relationships and all the rings that did not make it to the other person I wonder if Shin Lee were trying to say that love between two people - the mutual respect, loyalty and support is more important than any tag or label to define it. And the definition of the relationship is really not important when the two people concerned are happy with each other and basically it’s no one else’s problem. It’s more important that they are happy together rather than how society perceived them or wants them to be.

Rosa and the hospital director staying in the same house and travelling together. They are happy together and whether together platonically or otherwise honestly it’s their choice.

Song Hwa and Iksun not being interested in marriage. But as long as they are committed to their relationship and honestly communicating with their partners about what they want from life and relationships it’s okay.
Ikjuns ex wife not respecting marriage while she was married to Ikjun shows that the label did not ensure respect, support or loyalty.

At various points the fact that the couples were there for each other and their emotions were genuine and they were all in was more important and symbolic than any legal document or ring could be. Hence although the rings did not make it to Song Hwa, Iksun and gyeoul the couples ended up happy together.

  14. It’s ironical that in a pandemic impacted world when hospitals are something we least want to think of - a hospital centric drama has provided so much relief and distraction from the reality!

Whether season 3 happens in the distant future or not, thank you to Hospital Playlist 1 and 2 for the bursts of happiness that they’ve been! A comfortable bubble that we have escaped to time and again.

I’m sure all the pent up frustration, sadness and sometimes hopelessness we all have been absorbing during these days, not just consciously seeing the direct impact of the pandemic but even subconsciously just by listening/reading the news or hearing people talk about the cases and waves, has been relieved to a great extent every time we have cried and laughed with the characters.

The pandemic has been a long winding, mostly challenging, sometimes lonely road with people managing home alongwith  work from home while some others stepped out in a dystopic world that has suddenly become real because they are essential workers. Thank you Hospital Playlist for the virtual refuge in these times. For many you’ve truly been a sweet holiday from reality.

Thank you to the cast, crew and production team for braving the elements and actually making this series that’s gonna be relevant and cherished for a long time since though it has a hospital at the centre through its real, relatable and much loved characters it subtly taps on varied human emotions that are timeless. ♥️

    Spoiler

It’s been taken down now I guess. It was one of Kim SeonHo’s fan pages. So basically the actor is him in the suit next to the lady and baby. The pic was Kim SeonHo in a black suit (mostly the same one they showed in the series) holding the Baby in the pic (baby is also wearing a shirt and bow tie). The lady actor was not in the pic.

Possibly he’s playing his fathers role too?

Because it’s confusing if it was his baby and wife whom he is still mourning, love at first sight with Hye Jim wouldn’t make sense I think.

  16. - I think halemoni is the only one who knows what happened with Dusik as she was in contact with him when he was in Seoul. So if the pic was his wife and baby she wouldn’t have chided him for not having a wife as it would be a sensitive topic.
    - the topic being discussed with the cafe owner just before the pic was parenting and parents so it would most likely be his mother.

    - the lady in the pic her dress looks vintage.

    - if he was so not over his wife and baby passing away, that he’s still seeking therapy, I doubt he would fall in love at first sight with Hye Jin. It would have instead be shown on the lines of something like falling in love slowly and not realising it.

So all in all I think the pic is of his mom.

Where the nightmare is concerned I feel that his job led to a mistake or accident and some person/ people died. He blames himself for it.  Not sure if it’s related to an engineering job or something to do with the armed forces since he was a good fighter.

    Spoiler

It’s already on Instagram that the pic with the baby was KSH himself (the hidden man). It’s a behind the scene pic. So either it’s his wife (most likely now I guess) or if it’s his mom then the father’s role is also played by him (unlikely though).

  17. I still feel there will be a season 3 somehow!

the only way the series can wrap up now is if they have a time leap in the last episode like most KDramas. And I’m just not fond of last episode time leaps they just leave a incomplete and strange feeling.

Also MinHa saying that she’s a good person I think the translation was slightly off there. I felt she’s saying she’s a good person and she can take care of herself and not to say yes to a relationship just cause she asked so many times and he sort of felt bad for her. To say yes only if he really likes her.

  18. *Spoiler Alert* please read this after watching episode 11!

I think being MinHa requires equal guts and equal consideration for the other person. With introverts she has guts to invade their space but she doesn’t offend or impose. It’s a fine line she treads though on the face of it she comes across as simply outspoken/talkative. But like she consoled Gyeoul it can be seen she’s sensitive and aware of other people’s feelings.

I think it required guts to ask Seok Hyung to clarify he likes her but I think that came from the fact that with his personality type he might be just giving in because she persisted for many years and confessed many times. Also from her standpoint there’s no way for her to know when he changed his mind. That was something IkJun and JeongWon understood but there was no point where she noted a change in his behaviour. So he knew that he’s decided to pursue his feelings that he had been denying in front of her until now but till he literally spelt it out how would she know? Also asking for clarity goes with her personality type. She’s not the one to assume she would rather just straight forward ask.

About IkSong I was really hoping they don’t do the accident troupe but their past history was too much really for her. 2 rejections and him going on to marry someone else and have a child. Something this drastic and 1.5 years from his confession to hers was required I guess. Especially for a character like Song Hwa who is an over thinker and plays out everything in her head before taking a decision. But all in all so so happy for IkSong ♥️♥️♥️ One thing I really appreciate is the fine nuance that was required in their acting to show a change in their behaviour from season 1 to season 2. Season two IkSong just hit different. They wanted to show a progression that seemed like nothing in every scene but seemed like a lot when you look back at their progress from the time they met again at Yulje until now. A progress that was seamless in some ways and yet monumental when you look at their journey of 22 years. They managed to do that well. It seems like ShinLee had envisioned a certain rhythm for their relationship that they stayed true to.

For Bidulgi, the scene where they were discussing IkSong outside the door I felt that things were comfortable and normal between them. They did not seem like a couple that’s broken up. They very much did seem like a couple though not just friends. Hope theres some progress and some meaningful scenes for them in the last episode.

Many of the scenes in episode 11 were well shot.
    - The scene when IkJun was waiting for her in her office Songhwa’s expression captured so many emotions. Also her almost crying when she was holding IkJuns hand in the ER. Her nose was red and eyes look pained but there were no tears.

    - The Lee Siblings are always a treat to watch.
    - The GomGom whispering scene I could feel MinHa getting goose bumps!

    - Mama Rosa accepting Gyeoul feels like a hug on a cold day ♥️

    - the baby sitter saying that Ujju hadn’t cried so far I felt reflected how the Lee siblings and even Ujju held back emotions. My first thought was that someone with an high EQ like Song Hwa would be so good for all of them. Overall just seeing Song Hwa with them made me feel like she completed their family puzzle.

    - Jeong Wons professionalism in handling Geon showed his leadership skills and how he could be a good leader at his future dream of a children’s hospital.

    - SeokHyung stealing all the meat for MinHa was too funny.

although logically seeing this episode I think there’s no season 3 but somehow my gut feeling says there will be a Season 3. Let’s see.

  19. I have always felt that both Jun Wan and Seok Hyung are introverts but they are still so different. I think the description of polar bear and regular bear is a good way to describe it. Introvert, aloof, seemingly distant  ‘Bears’ yet so different possibly impacted varyingly by different backgrounds/environment, circumstances and life problems. The scene also highlighted again that it’s the few common character traits - patient welfare, dedication to their profession, basic ethics, mutual trust and respect that is the foundation of  their friendship and binds them together through all these years. Hobbies and interests, food habits, personality traits are really secondary.

Only after this scene I realised as far as I can recall all the 5 except JunWan and Seok Hyung have had one to one meaningful scenes. Like all the five with the other 4 individually except these 2. Or maybe I have forgotten? Do you guys remember a meaningful scene with just these 2 before?

  20. I think it’s a losing game sometimes trying to predict Hospital Playlist. But can’t give up anyway especially since it’s a two week wait :joy::joy::joy:

but my theory is that the person who got injured is one of the GS dads who possibly had IkJun’s ID? Leading to confusion initially. Also I think that the person who is not reachable to Gyeoul’s calls is IkJun. Maybe IkSun has an emergency health issue at another hospital and IkJun is with her?
