Are you referring to the coming drama - imperial cusine?

    saw it here

Arthur shows up at no 3 as the support role.

Hm yeah.. the thing is, everyone can edit the content of My Drama List, and there has been cases where fans just made up the cast (like The Golden Hairpin before the production house announced Yang Zi & Kris Wu as leads). I suspect Arthur's name is just put there, because seriously I've never heard of his involvement in this project before.

  2. Hi @Raisa_LYXBR, welcome to this forum! Always glad to have new people engaging in talks and discussions here :). Thank you also for being respectful to Arthur & his fans, so please accept our gratitude & well wishes to you and other Luo Yunxi's fans. I'm not following Yunxi, but I've known him since My Sunshine, and I really liked his chemistry with Janice Wu there, albeit quite short :). I haven't seen his other works, though I understand he gained massive popularity for Ashes of Love, and causing big second lead syndromme perhaps? ;-)

I was reading the forum to know a little bit more about Feiyu, but about the CP thing, hope so no one wants to shove them both with this thing, I'm Yunxi fan, and the ppl shipping them is awkward as no one knows or read any opinion from both, that's what I came from on my search to know if this cp thing isn't becoming more huge than we want, because Yunxi don't like to participate in anything about cp, he don't like to promote cp and prefer to abstain from this. So I feel a little more glad that Feiyu is on the same boat as him. And he comes from a small agency, with no background or great resources, he become friend with anyone but he is a person not into cp promotion. Hope their agency or the drama team, or anyone no try to push that into them...;; poor boys. And hope the netizens knows about that too, Yunxi dislikes a lot the cp marketing. He agreed with this character because he told his fans he is up to challenge on his acting skills, so we don't confuse a thing to another. About our fandom, don't worry, we are aware and we always put an warning to his new fans to not disrespect his desires.

Thank you for letting us know this. To be honest, I cannot confirm whether it IS Arthur's team policy. I just assume based on my own observation. But I am equally happy if Yunxi & his team also refrain from using CP as a tool to promote his works. I also see him as rather modest, not that low-key but not the type who will buy hot search either, for instance. But you know better as his fan :). Thanks for your assurance about his fans respecting his desires.

I started watching Ning Que and already like his acting, he is pretty skilled, love it, and then I'm watching his other things like the movies, his covers, the boy is even skilled to sing, wow, and watching LoA, the boy is good I think his talent is running through his veins. So about the interactions with Yunxi, oh dear Lord...sighh... that's the same with us. We want to scream little loud "Don't over interpreting a thing by only an interaction when you don't know any of both". That's, it's kind a thing from Yunxi to be outgoing on the set and he do this in any of his behind the scenes. As well, hope everyone could watch more Feiyu things, I also cheering for him!! Hope he realize everything he wants and can act in anything he wants as well. So we could see more of his brilliant act skills.

Thanks again, and I'm glad you could enjoy Arthur's work. I can't speak for others here, but I'll surely check Yunxi's works. I'm one of the 5 people in the world who haven't watched Ashes of Love fully, only some random episodes.

Yes, on set Arthur is also playful with his costars, and he's quite a touchy feely person :). You will see that in videos of his promotional tours with Nana Ouyang, as well as the BTS of Ever Night, My Best Summer and Legend of Awakening. He always bickered and played fights with Song Yiren, casually hugged He Landou (there's also a Douyin clip of him fixing her hair), and nudged Cheng Xiao, even playing with her hair. I think that's why it's quite easy to ship him with his co-stars. In an interview with Song Yiren, he admitted that he's quite introverted, so he'd force himself to talk with and befriend everyone on set. In the process I think that helped him in building chemistry with his castmates, especially his leading ladies. I have no doubt this is happening in the HYX shooting location, and while personally I'm frankly nervous with (some) people shipping him with Leo, he'll need the chemistry for the drama to be successful. I hope it will be projected onscreen, unlike in Legend of Awakening where I couldn't feel his chemistry with Cheng Xiao. (Don't get me wrong, they're very cute in the BTS!).

Wow, i thought in order to let out tears, they have to think something very sad, personal matters or anything, and after the tears comes, they can act naturally. Never thought arthur's technique is really dive into the character and feel what the character's feeling. So he is transformed into luping, not arthur anymore. I read that James McAvoy also do this technique, people around him judge that he became an annoying and dark person when he was playing in Split. He has hard time to go back to his original character after finished shooting. Err....

Actually what James McAvoy did was also method technique (that's why I mentioned earlier about Christian Bale who lost about 30 kgs so he would look malnutritioned & became a completely different personality while shooting The Machinist). I don't think that's what Arthur meant, since what we saw in the BTS he was acting like himself -- he changed in front of the camera. But the point is he doesn't see the need to use his personal experience in order to bring forward certain emotions, he gets carried away by the character and the circumstances as per the script. A representative example of such approach is perhaps like this BTS of Ma Sichun crying in her heartbreaking scene in Mr Fighting:

You can see that even after the camera stopped, she still cried, because she was carried away by the character :).

Allright, so i think LoA has won viewers' heart as an idol youth costume drama. I also read somewhere that Arthur's Weibo follower is growing crazily! Oh boy...

Yayyy... happy to hear that! Hopefully it will grow even larger with HYX -- though I'm still scared with the fandom LOL.

PS. Don't know if you ladies notice, someone is quite unhealthily obsessed with our boy, sigh...  :(

On the set for night scenes...

So apparently the situation is like this: Arthur posted his photos in that white shirt on his weibo. Then an hour later he posted this particular picture, implying that he just intentionally led his followers into thinking or guessing of his whereabout (somewhere in the city) -- while he was actually doing a night shooting! :joy:

    BTS Crying Scene

Thank you so much for this! Interesting what he says about his approach in acting. I google-translated some of the paragraph in the original source (your link), and the translation is a bit different, going like this: "For me, personal emotions are useless. I rely more on the plot...." (the rest is incomplete). My understanding is that he doesn't use his own personal experience to feel emotional --  in this case, to cry. He'd rather analyze how his character perceives and responses to a certain situation, then portrays it. It seems to me he prefers to distance his own self from his roles? So he probably won't use the method technique, which is often effective, yet can be quite extreme (think Christian Bale in The Machinist). IIRC, I once read that Liu Haoran would like to use (try?) this technique. But I could be very wrong though, thanks to not speaking Mandarin! :D

Now some random rant. Even with this surge of attention of international netizens, it still feels quite hard to find information/news about Arthur. Yes, there are now, like, 100-fold of mentions on Twitter, not to mention IG. But 80% are about HYX, a lot are not even about Arthur but just included in Twitter search machine thanks to user names using "Chen Feiyu" LOL. I'd love to read about what people think of his acting, his movies, etc., even when they're harsh or super critical. But alas, plenty are just mentioning without any context, or interpreting (or over-interpreting, IMO) his interactions with Luo Yunxi.. sighh... Of course there are some gems as well, I'm really thankful for the translations of his interviews, but sadly these are pretty rare :((((

Yippie so glad with this, but i think Douban rate was down to 6.9 maybe it was because ep 27-28, so slow those ones sigh...

Just checked, it just went down to 6.8. I'm guessing it's also triggered by Qin Sang's death. Oh well :(. I'm bummed but it is what it is. That rating is still pretty decent considering all factors. Now I'm so looking forward to Youth (From Dust, Flower Blooms)!

Thanks for sharing Arthur's vlog! Always love watching him singing with guitar. He's getting better in singing too, and his voice is more suitable to folksy/pop-jazzy tunes. Interesting that the studio touches upon "rumors out there".  I'm wondering if there is another one, or was it referring to the previous ones?

Cute Lu Ping from Arthur Studio

    What's odeng?

When he's playful and so child-like that way, he's very different from the manly and imposing character he projects on screen -- thanks to his charisma and screen presence :))). His Lu Ping is very attractive that I often forget he was only 18 back then. Didn't he say in the interview about LoA that the director thought he was already 26? I can totally understand why! LOL.

I particularly like to watch good story about Emperor Kang Xi.  If Arthur acts in this timeline period, I don't mind either.

Like another adaptation of The Deer and the Cauldron? ;-) It's actually one of my least favorite Jin Yong's novel. Why do you like him, or about his reign?

I just hope that our boy will not escalate in popularity like Xiao Zhan otherwise his acting career might be hit badly due to obsessiveness of BL fans.  He just begin his career as he grows in his acting ability.  We want to see his growth happen in the next few years to come.

Same here! But I have a feeling it's what his team (particularly his parents) has been trying to do. Perhaps not having him regularly in Chinese social media is part of the strategy to avoid unwanted attention, because backlash might ensue. I'm quite concerned about the recent surge of attention of international netizens to Arthur related to HYX. On one hand I'm happy that more people are interested in him and checking his projects. On the other hand, I'm not comfortable by some contents which I find quite disturbing (maybe I'm just too prim and proper haha). In my observation, Arthur's team has been careful not to feed CP/shipping with his leading ladies. I notice there has never been communications with Song Yiren, He Landou, and recently even Nana (despite the fact they've been caught shopping together in Paris, lol) on social media. I think he still maintains his friendship with them on a more private platforms (otherwise Yiren wouldn't have said Arthur told her about him enrolling in Beijing Academy), but he's very adamant not to show anything publicly. So in my opinion, some netizens shipping him with Leo isn't really what his team wants. But I can also see Tencent or perhaps other investors want to milk something to create and sustain hype from the get go. Arthur's family may be influential enough in China to tame the shipping narrative back home,  but won't have legs in the international market.

You're right!  It's good to see Arthur in period costumes.  He's  so good looking as compared to his appearance in modern setting.

He is one of the actors who actually look better in period costumes AND hair styling. Though we haven't seen him yet in ... ahem... a Qing Dynasty's fashion ;-). But you know, I tried to imagine him half bald, and I think it won't be too bad! Especially if he fixes his posture and stands up straight, without moving his upper body too much like in EN1 & sometimes in LoA. I've noticed that he has moved a LOT less in LoA

     though.

Yeah true true true! Cant imagine if i were one of them at hengdian, watching Arthur in costume, how come i will not take out my cellphone to take a pic??? Or maybe i will froze and doing nothing just drolling looking at him LOL. Today's still or yesterday i forget, he was in red and white, awesome!!!!

Hahahahah! I'd certainly freeze and drool! We should give credit to the hairstylists and designers, they really know how to dress him up.

Hopefully the script and plot is good, and arthur can immerse to be Mo Ran! The burden and the stake is too high this time, hopefully our boy can manage this, mentally prepared for the worst.

I'm not a fan of the book, nor am I a fan of the BL genre. I just want to enjoy myself watching him, hoping to see the progress in his acting & how his training in Beijing Academy helps polishing it.

BTW, pardon my ignorance. I remember @tothestars and @mei2018 are Buddhist, right? Happy Vesak Day to you ladies! May you and your family be blessed and happy.

  9. Despite the call from HYX production company to stop leaks, they're still coming left and right! I won't lie, I actually love seeing them, because Arthur looks so damn handsome. He's very well suited for historical garb, and IMO even looks better in them than in modern clothing. But at the same time I feel sorry because it will prolly ruin the shooting process.

Well, I agree with your brother, and I think that's now the general consensus :D

Arthur is trying his level best but Cheng Xiao is not responding through her acting.  That's why there's no chemistry.  In the show, you can only see that Su Ping likes Qin Sang a lot but hardly obvious from her side.  We see sparks of chemistry between Arthur and Song Yiren as Yiren is a better actress than him.  Cheng Xiao is a rookie so just have to let this slide.

Yeah, both Yiren and He Landou are more experienced actresses. As for Yiren, it might've also helped that they had interacted prior to shooting. But I believe Arthur & Landou met for the first time at My Best Summer's shooting location.

Thankfully romance doesn't take bigger part in the show, yet. Let's hope it will continue that way, with or without a wedding.

As far as I know, people can tour in Hengdian Studios. It's only be reopened recently for shooting, but I don't think general public/visitors are already allowed. I could be wrong though.

  12. I saw that Arthur got into Top 20 VLinkage Chart on Monday. I believe this is the first time for him since the show started airing? Cheng Xiao has been there for a while, and Song Yiren too! Arthur rarely trends on these charts. Remember during EN1, he was only on the chart when the drama was drawing to its finale, and EN1 finally topped the chart.
