It's terrible! They were lucky the girl seemed to be relatively harmless and all she did was trying to hug him. So currently there is a dispute about how useless arthur studio is. Like this below picture, turns out arthur studio has made a poster for dragon boat festival, but they didnt post it on weibo.

 

Is the studio part of the management? My understanding is a studio is a team designated to take care of all the artist's business needs, from arranging photoshooting for the respective artist's publication, film shooting, etc, including acting as the PR for the respective artists. A studio is normally under the management.

 

If the said picture was supposed to be posted on Dragon Boat Festival but never made it to their social media, it could be due to recklessness, but it could also be intentional. Meaning, they had prepared it but maybe it was only a draft?

The way he talks about Mo Ran makes it sound like the author wrote the character with him in mind LOL. But indeed that similar birth date is a very interesting coincidence. I find it amusing, though, that a character living in a fictional ancient period is written to have a birth date according to Gregorian calendar . Since I never read xianxia novels, is it quite common? I also wonder what "Mo Ran" means, that they are his "favorite characters".

 

Also interesting that he singled out Mo Ran's character as "impulsive, juvenile, innocent" and made it sound like they share those traits. Personally, based on how he acts & his past interviews, he doesn't seem impulsive to me. But it's true that his previous characters are well-planned people.

Yeah, I think they will prefer going to rest immediately once they arrive at the hotel, as the filming schedule is so tight and exhausts them. They'll need the energy for the next day! LOL.

The actors barely have sleep! Even LYX who has slightly shorter shooting time only sleeps like... 4-5 hrs/day, I assume? Arthur prolly has even less sleeping time :(. I hope when he said he doesn't have projects in the 2nd part of this year, he can  use it to get enough rest (because he still has school to attend!).

He's gotta to take care of his health seriously, even though he's still young and healthy. All his dramas required him to do a lot of demanding physical activities, sometimes extreme. I remember for Ever Night he even had to shoot until 5 am the next morning, right? For LoA he had to dive into freezing cold water, as well as walking barefoot on snow. (But so did Kris Sun & Yiren for EN). 

 

Arthur said they're in very tight schedule, so perhaps that's why they always film until very very late. I didn't read the book, but someone I follow on Tumblr sort of recapped it, so based on what I read Mo Ran seems to be the major character?  Therefore he shoots more than the others, no? (But this blogger is a fan of Mo Ran, so it's likely that her recap is biased LOL). The good side of HYX shooting is prolly they don't need to do outpost shooting, so they're still in a controlled environment.

Poor Arthur! I read that he even had to get intravenous injection due to dehydration? I hope it's not too serious, and I'm sure his team will keep his health in check. That said, I hope the production team has a health/medical team available for all actors and crew!

I've posted some part of it here, CKG's observation about the distinction between Alex and Arthur. It was from another article, but now I can see that what I posted was excerpt from this article. Thank you so much, and I'm really enjoying this a lot! This is a very good one, providing us about how Arthur and his brother grew up. I already knew that CKG's father was also a director, but not sure if the family was also "old money". Did filmmakers make a lot of money prior to the Cultural Revolution? It was very interesting what CKG said about being brought up to be a cultured man: he felt he became too weak (?) and decided to join the army (PLA?) to be tougher. So perhaps it wasn't about ideology, but about survival instinct. Somehow this reminds me of the movie "Empire of the Sun".

 

Anyway, he wanted his children to be tough too. I suppose we had learnt about it back then, right? Remember the video interview in which he said that he thought Arthur was too soft and "girly"? Chen Hong also mentioned that Arthur was too nice and didn't want to hurt other people's feelings. (LOL, did she miss Arthur's pranks to his friends and family ). 

 

It's also interesting that at one point he and Chen Hong wanted to distance themselves from the movie industry, because they thought showbiz is sickening (my word, haha!). I guess Arthur's decision to be an actor had also factored in their decision to return, in addition to other considerations. 

 

Some other interesting things from this article for me:
- Arthur didn't have assistants yet when he filmed Ever Night 1. I didn't see his mom in the BTS videos, so I guess she only visited him once in a while, and reported the visit to his dad, haha! 

- CKG took time to train Arthur for LoA. They spent 10 days to discuss the character, the environment, the story etc. We can see Arthur's improvement leap & bound, as well as his line delivery! It helped that they had sometime before LoA filming started to do it. I now can't wait to see the movie "Youth", and I hopeeeeeee it can be released this year!

 

It's also safe to say that Arthur has to prove not only to the general public, but most importantly to his father, that he strives to be a good actor. I think I can understand now the nuance of his speech "I wish in the future my father will be recognized as CFY's father" . His father thinks that facing hardships and challenges, not only at work but also in life in general, contributes to making a good actor.

Thanks heaps for your translation @dejun, so generous of you sparing some time to do it  . It's nice to read some of Arthur's thoughts in regards of his acting career. It's interesting to see that he's aware about his international fans, that he thinks all his fans must be able to see him in different roles and characters. About experience, my take on whatever you could get from his interview is that his seniors told him that he must accumulate experiences (including his own) to enrich his acting. I think it doesn't mean just acting experience but also life experience?

I'll take Arthur's words that he's single, at least when he was asked about it. But I won't deny that I was quite taken away by their joint interviews and sightings.They seemed to be very comfortable with each other and have a lot in common all the way down to favorite musicians, hobbies, etc. Nana is friends with Alex and perhaps with Chen Hong too (on social media, at least). But they are still young, both are still in college, and busy in their respective career.

(I need not name names, but if you followed discussions on Legend of Awakening you can spot them). But let's do it Arthur's way: focus on what we like (which is him, hahahahah!), celebrate his accomplishment, enjoy his works, and let the detractors cry in their sad corner LOL.

Thanks again @dejun for the translations. The complete one really make a difference in the nuance and interpretation of the whole dynamics between the actors in HYX. I'm glad they sound to get along real fine and professional at the same time! I'm so happy for Arthur for working on a role he really likes and he finds challenging. As for the next half of this year -- does he mean he doesn't have another film/drama project? He'll probably be doing the promotion for CKG movie, as well as some varieties. 

 

PS. I'm not surprised at all that Arthur has some domestic work skills, as per @mei2018's account. I remember seeing a show (the Smart Daddy?) in which he was folding and arranging his clothes neatly and in color coordination.

Me too! With more people getting to know him, it will allow them to see him in clearer picture and not just the bad images shaped by nasty rumors.  It helps us as well, for we've been getting translation of interviews and whatnot,  even old pictures that we may have missed before. There are even twitter accounts in Japanese and Korean dedicated to Arthur, and Ever Night 1! (I think the Japanese account is named the Chicken Soup Note lol).
