What I love about the kiss is how long it lasts and their movement together during it. It´s full of meaning and very touching. Needing to stop the wedding allows CY to finally express his love in this physical way.

Yes, I was carried away too.  And I have to compliment LMH on his kissing skill!

FAITH EPISODE 17

Thanks @CallieP for the recap! And thanks to @syntyche and @msdot for your comments.

I like how the King and Queen look so comfortable in their temporary housing.  Aw, I just love the scenes with CY and the King.  I love how now ES "sees" CY when he's happy.  ES can't even look CY in the eyes when he says that they're leaving.  Oh, the hurt in CY's eyes when he asks ES to stay with him since there are not many days before she leaves.  Ugh, I love this couple; they're so cute.  I think ES needs Court Lady Choi to protect her from herself.  Ah fire lady and flute boy are back..  I can understand that ES wants to make sure CY will be ok when she leaves, so CY should allow her to keep looking for the notebook.  Did we all love the kiss at the end?  I guess it is no surprise that the kiss was the most talked about scene in this episode on DB.  His PT kiss still was the favorite.

8 Letters - Surprise Teaser Three 120318 ENG SUB

Hi syntyche, thanks for sharing the teaser. NICE. I thought all along he was sipping coffee. So, that was hot chocolate. I guess he prefers the latter over coffee, huh? Hot chocolate must be his favorite? Well, hot chocolate is probably healthier.  Although, coffee has less calories than hot chocolate. Coffee can have as much as 40 times as much caffeine as hot chocolate. It may sound too good to be true, but there are in fact some health benefits associated with drinking hot chocolate.  I love looking at him sipping that cup of hot chocolate while removing foam in his lips with his tongue. He's just so sexy doing that + his dimples are visible. Love it!

Hi @willenette, I love watching him sip that drink, too. It's amazing how he makes such an ordinary thing, swoon-worthy. :)

Hi gtLmh, thanks for sharing this. Hahaha - IDK if it's just me - but, for me most Korean men are handsome. It's just that some of them they say are rude. Biased aside in my eyes, LMH is flawless, perfect. He's tall & handsome. For me, it’d always be Lee min Ho! Just look at the stare, long legs, & sharp features. Some men are turning to plastic surgery to copy the ‘pretty boy’ look of LMH. They want to have face shapes and looks like him.

About being disappointed that Korean men don´t look like LMH: well, duh! LMH is extraordinary on any continent in how he looks and how well he uses his looks as an actor, model, performer, etc. The camera just loves him!

I find myself rewatching Faith and admiring the subtleties of the slow-burning romance between CY and ES. I´m reminded of what one person said in her review of the series:

“The relationship between Eun Soo and Choi Young was breathtaking to witness. The subtlety with which Lee Minho portrayed Young's emotions made me truly respect him as an actor. He conveyed so much feeling through the tiniest of gestures, and Kim Hee Sun replied in kind to Minho's every glance, sigh, and emotional flicker. It was like watching a dance.”*

 Yes indeed!

*Thanks to Rachel on My Drama List for the quote.

As Choi Young sits in jail, he’s visited by one of the guards who he has been convincing to jump ship back to Gongnim. The guard had hesitations at first, but eventually agreed to help protect the king’s entourage. A short moment after the guard leaves, Choi Young’s jail cell is unlocked and he freely steps out.

The king’s entourage receives word that the bandits are closing in on them. Choong Seok decides to leave ten Woodalchis to stall the bandits, while the rest of the entourage runs away.

Deok Heung sees Eun Soo and fumes about her ruining the plan to conquer Goryeo. He corners her, but she manages to slip away, thanks to the moves taught to her by Choi Young. He then proposes for her to run away with Choi Young and hide for days from Ki Chul, as he awaits the letter from Yuan and he becomes king. Eun Soo agrees, but as he leaves, he suddenly pricks her arm with poison.

Meanwhile, Choi Young arrests the contingent of the royal guards that isn’t on their side.

Hwasuin and Eum Ja, together with Ki Chul’s men, see the abandoned king’s carriage. The Woodalchis attack them, but outnumbered as they are, they are easily defeated. Hwasuin stabs Joo Seok to death, the lead of this Woodalchi team. Word of the team’s defeat reaches the king’s entourage, so Choong Seok executes the plan of planting body doubles for the king and queen. Reluctantly, they both take off their royal clothes.

As they run through the woods, they are met by the royal guards sent by Choi Young to escort the king back to the palace.

Meanwhile, Choi Young learns that Eun Soo is back, so he runs to her. She tells him to welcome first the king, and they can talk later. He heads to the palace and corners Deok Heung who is about to make a run for it.

Eun Soo shows Dr. Jang the poison pricked into her arm. They’ll try to make an antidote before it becomes fatal.

Gongnim sees Choi Young for a talk. Choi Young claims responsibility for the death of his men. He then blurts out that Eun Soo has always been first for him, and because of that, he should let him go. Gongnim instead invites him to a meeting where he decides on the fate of Deok Heung and Ki Chul.

Choi Young finally sits down with Eun Soo. She discloses the plan of her hiding from Ki Chul while Deok Heung waits for the letter from Yuan. She also cheers Choi Young up on the death of his men. He promises to keep her safe and protect her, and then take her himself to heaven’s door.

Queen Noguk sees Gongnim and urges him to take some rest. She then tells him that she cares most about her husband being able to rest peacefully.

The king’s meeting commences, and he orders an investigation on the fabrication of taxation records and Ki Chul’s involvement in it. He also puts Ki Chul on house arrest as investigation rolls on the involvement of his soldiers with the attack on the king.

Eun Soo is frustrated searching for secret messages on the pages of her diary, falls backwards in her chair, but just in time, Choi Young shows up and tilts her back into place. He notices a bandage on her arm, guesses that she was poisoned again, and the antidote experiments she set up are exactly for that. He demands to know who did this to her, and gets upset on her being distant and keeping it from him. As he walks out, she runs up to him and gives him a backhug. She cries, as she asks him if she could stay, or could he forget her once she’s gone. Tears well up in his eyes as he stands there sighing.

Gongnim calls for Deok Heung, and asks him, if there is anything more important than this country for him. Deok Heung answers that it’s him, and Gongnim says the he will be a better king than Deok Heung will ever be.

Choi Young arrives, and tells the king that Deok Heung poisoned Eun Soo again. However, the king allows Deok Heung to go, as an envoy is on his way with a letter nominating Deok Heung as king. Hurting Deok Heung will lead to a war.

A mysterious letter arrives for Eun Soo. She asks Choi Young to read it to her. He does, then tells her they would have to run away, as the envoy from Yuan wants her.

Comments:

Gongnim is wise to measure up Deok Heung’s character as a king by asking him on the most important thing for him than his country. As Choi Young and Noguk have told him that love is more important than their own country, he concludes that he will be a better king than selfish Deok Heung will ever be.

Choi Young’s brilliance as a general is seen in this episode. He is able to maneuver discreetly and convince the royal guards to jump ship. He is also able to command the guards to escort the king back safely to the palace. Most importantly, he claims responsibility for the death of his own men.

Coming from his indifferent, unmotivated self in the first part of the drama, Choi Young has come a long way, now that he is able to determine and articulate what matters to him the most. His actions have been motivated anyway for the good of Eun Soo, but to be able to articulate that, to the king nonetheless, is a remarkable growth in his character.

No wonder he got upset when Eun Soo kept her poisoning from him. The walls around him have completely tumbled down because of her, so her still being distant to him breaks his heart. Aww, our general falling in love is such a sight to see.

May I dwell yet again on Minho’s facial expressions which are spot on in portraying Choi Young’s emotions. As @msdot’s quote of Rachel says, even the tiniest gestures, and mere eye expression at that, convey so much feeling. It is a delight to watch their love story unfold through these subtle yet powerful emotions.

Finally, the matter of whether Eun Soo should stay or go has been brought up. All this time, Choi Young has been directed towards bringing Eun Soo back to heaven, as he promised, but she is now considering staying with him. The connection between them is getting stronger, and as the opening of the gates approaches, their talk of whether Eun Soo should stay or go is inevitable.

EPISODE 18

Thank you @syntyche for the recap!

Not my favorite episode for a number of reasons.  I'm sad that Ju Seok was killed.  What I really don't like and one of my problems with Faith is ES being poisoned twice.  How could ES be so naive to let her guard down DS?  CY gonna get you fire lady for killing Ju seok.  But a sweet scene when CY runs to ES when she arrived at the Palace.  Ok, I love LMH's hair; that one eye is sexy.  I think the best scenes are between the King and CY as much as I love ES and CY.  Such great acting by LMH, the tears filling his eyes but not falling.  Ok, did you have tears in your eyes when ES told CY to live a good life hugging him from behind?  I would have ended the episode at that scene.  I would agree, until the back hug by ES, that one really couldn't tell how ES felt about CY.  You could have interpreted it as her simply needing CY to send her back home.  She may be grateful that he always comes to her rescue, but it's not necessarily love.  This seemed like a very long episode.

Can't wait for the next episode of 8 letters!
