I'm almost finished with episode 16, have about 10 minutes to do before it is complete. I'll post it at D-addicts when finished. I know what you mean about the poor grammar, even after the first round of edits. Perhaps the people who did the edits were not native English speakers since the use of proper pronouns was not corrected. There are a lot of issues with "this" and "that" too.

I've done some corrections to episode 1-3, 6-7, 10-14 and am currently working on 16 (from the DVD), but have not posted them yet. I've never ripped subs from a DVD so I don't want to go there now, but I wanted to at least do 16 since it was missing a lot of dialogue.

Anyway, yes...I'm lorac from D-Addicts. The boxset was expensive, but I'm glad I bought it since I like the drama so much. The subs on the SBS boxset aren't too bad. A few errors, but noting glaring like the avi subs.

The subtitles at D-Addicts are from a group of people who edited, if I remember correctly, the TV version or the Hong Kong version. Yes, the original subs were pretty bad, and some fans improved them, but they still have grammatical errors. I have not posted the ones I edited. I did it for myself and only intended to post them after doing all the episodes. The selected scenes posted here are from the DVD subs. I don't want to offend anyone who did the current edits, it takes time and effort to do the corrections, but there are only two episodes at D-Addict that have correct subs as far as I'm concerned, 1 and 6, and they were done by a person who speaks Korean and English.

I intend to finish ep 16 today! Really! And then I will post it. This will be from the DVD subs. If you want, I can send you my edited subs, the ones I mentioned in a previous post. I didn't want to post these in a forum because it would just add to the confusion. One almost has to go thru the whole Only You thread at D-Addicts to find the edited versions, but even those are far from perfect. Having said that, the SBS subs could have used a native English person reviewing them before making it official. The errors are few, but there, and invariably they misuse the word "lose" or "losing". They always spell it "loose". At least with the few errors on the DVD it is not irritating when watching....and the video quality is so good that it was worth spending lots of money for the boxset.

The packaging is very good (hard-box) and picture quality is super. Most important, the English subs are excellent. Only a few mistakes and very minor ones too. It's a dual Korean/Chinese set with English/Chinese subs. I finished this drama in 2 days.

An enjoyable drama although I wish JHJ and HCY had better chemistry and more romantic scenes together. She snapped at him too much; I wanted her to be nicer to him!

Such a deal. I paid $85 US for the SBS boxset. Just like the one you have, the SBS set has pretty good subs. I find it is very American in the slang and phrasing, and in a few swear words used! There are a few typos, but nothing really disturbing. Yep, DVD is the way to go...I'm tempted to buy Love Letter, but it's such a tragedy I'm not sure if I could watch it enough to get my moneys worth!

Do any Korean dramas have an abundance of romantic scenes? I think not, or at least the ones I've seen. They save that for the movies! The paradox was that Eun-jae was a strong personality, but did not use it when it really mattered. But that would defeat the storyline! Sorta how they never tell anyone what's going on, who said what, what terminal illness is affecting some characters and so on. Eun-jai definitely perpetuated the misunderstandings. She was constant, but Lee-jun matured a lot. He learned lessons and became a better person for it. I find the subs on the DVD more informative in some ways than what is on the net, so it is interesting to have seen both versions. I think one difference is the DVD subs have a more concise way of saying things. Translating is a real art!

The DVD's a really good deal. Plus the English subs are excellent. I hate it when I see bad subs but I was very pleasantly surprised by how good the Innoform subs were. The names of the characters are spelt the way they are pronounced in Korean, not in Chinese.

I agree that Lee-joon matured as the story progressed. He was so scowly in the first 2 episodes. I like it when he smiles - JHJ has a really nice smile.

I was quite torn between the two guys actually. In the end, I rooted for the one who was handsomer!

See, this is the reason I think they should put English subs on all the Chinese and Hong Kong series. let alone Korean! It's not only for the USA and Europe, but for Asians who can't read Chinese that well, or maybe don't speak it that well. I was so disappointed when they released the new DVD version of A Step Into The Past, but did not include English subs.
