About the news that i want to share with you...i think it's not a gossip but only my observation...actually this is an old news but sometimes i feel its still relevant and related to the current condition...

For me its like " KJH's love confession for SYR "...i think he still has " that feeling " until now...

Do you think he used the same method to get SYR as his leading lady in " Monster " ???

Because during the casting process, it's Han ji min who became hot topic and she's also positively considered the role but on the last minute they finally picked SYR...LOL

@badsmuler thanks for re-posting those HDG pics again . you know i became a KJH fan only last year and with  lots  of his dramas, movies and interviews, fan meetings I need to marathon watching   , I could still remember I saw this  HGD special on YT . I think  the lead actor is always given the prerogative to choose his partner since the chemistry is very important . Although KJH had worked with both women, Han Ji Min and Sung Yuri , I think he is more comfortable working with Sung Yuri as they had worked for 2 films already and its known  to fans   they have been  friends since HGD days.. . MOnster is a long drama and with 6 months of filming , good rapport and  camaraderie  among the cast members  and crew are very  important.  YES .. I would believe  KJH was instrumental in choosing Sung Yuri as his partner in Monster.. 

When they won as Best Couple   8 years ago for Hong Gil Dong, I searched for old news to find out if they became lovers in real life  but nothing  .. , they were not romantically involved.. and because SYR has a golfer boyfriend I gave up hoping..  A wild guess: maybe, during HGD days KJH tried  to  court SYR but was turned down??? ...   But that was 8 years ago.. Who knows,   KJH-SYR might surprise the fans after filming Monster?  ..  .

I think SYR is more than just a friend to our KJH...she's a very special woman, maybe even his dream girl and ideal type...

The fact that SYR is a woman whom he had crush on for a long time and it was confessed by himself...It's just WOOW to me...LOL

I can't blame KJH because even as a woman, i also have a girl crush on her...SYR is not extremely beautiful but her lovely personality that makes her becomes more beautiful and very attractive woman...

There are many Top Male Celebrities that fell into her charms like Song seung hun ( they were real lovers for 8 months ), Yoon kye sang ( one side love for almost 6 years ) etc and several young male Idols...

When Monster casts were the guests for MBC Entertainment Weekly, the MC asked KJH about SYR and Claudia Kim...he said that both are pretty women, SYR is famous for her beauty in so many years and Claudia Kim is also very beautiful BUT for him SYR is still the best...Aigoooooo...SYR again !!!!!

Thus at the 2nd Monster Press Conference, KJH said that he'll be fine if the drama have 100 episodes...but what for ??? In order for him to meet SYR every day and much longer ??? Hahahaha

I know he's just acting BUT...don't you think its like our KJH are falling in love for real now ???

While this 2008 telling of the story of Korea’s Robin Hood isn’t a true fusion, the mix of modern music and hip filming style makes this one of the precursors to fusion sageuk like the following drama, “My Love From the Star.” Hong Gil Dong is a legend, and this drama imagined him as a bit goofy, very cunning, and endlessly passionate about his people and his country. On occasion the humor didn’t balance out the more serious aspects of the drama, but on the whole, Kang Ji Hwan’s performance carried this twenty-four episode drama to its fantastic end and gave its viewers a lot of think about.

[Interview] Kang Ji-hwan, "It's been a long journey in "Monster - 2016""

The eight month long "Monster - 2016" wasn't easy for veteran actor Kang Ji-hwan as well. He had to take on the weight of a lead character, the heavy story line, the frequent action scenes and the injuries that came along with it. "Monster - 2016" was a lot of pressure for him. However, he stood strong and "Monster - 2016" ended successfully.

In an interview with the actor, he said, "I don't know how time went by while filming "Monster - 2016". It's been about ten days now. I've never done a 50 episode drama before and it was tough mentally and physically but there were good people around me to help me through it".

Kang Ji-hwan took on the role of Kang Ki-tan, a man who became a monster after his life and family were taken by a powerful force. To make his character look realistic, he didn't even mind eating dog food. His "Revenge" performance had already been proven in the dramas "Big Man" and "Incarnation of Money".

"I love bringing out the happiness and sadness while I'm acting. I didn't mean to, but I've done three dramas in the same category. When I decide on a character, I don't look at one thing, rather I look at the complicated elements of a character's feelings. However, I think I have to watch out next time when I look at a drama".

Kang Ji-hwan suffered from injuries. He was in an accident while transferring to the set and even got burnt at some point. The continuous late nights on the set brought him to the end of exhaustion as well.

"It was really rough. The accidents and the injuries were the toughest part. We stood up so many nights until about the thirtieth episode. I had a big bag of clothes with me even though we were shooting in Seoul, close to where I live. I really thought I was becoming a "Monster"".

However, his co-stars were of great comfort to him, especially Seong Yoo-ri. They have worked together twice before this in "Hong Gil Dong" and "Runway Cop".

"I can't say I don't feel the pressure as the leading character. But Seong Yoo-ri was always there by me, lifting me up whenever I needed it. It's not all the time you run into the same person this often, but I think we are meant to be".

"Monster - 2016" stayed around 8~10% thanks to Lee Deok-hwa, Jeong Bo-seok and Jeong Woong-in too. The drama competed with 3 other broadcasting companies and it didn't waver.

"When "Monster - 2016" first came out, "Doctors" was released soon after so it affected the viewing percentage a little but soon we had a firm base of viewers that were supporting us and only us. I think a lot of the middle aged viewers liked the drama more. We weren't affected by the Rio Olympics too".

Kang Ji-hwan strongly said no when we asked him if he ever thought of being in another 50-episode drama.

"I don't think so. Maybe something shorter. I learned a lot through this opportunity and I'll be back soon enough".

Looks like Ji Hwan is coming with a new drama that is going to start airing next month (February, 2018). This is good news... was getting a little worried there for a while since I have not seen or heard news about him ...or, maybe I have not been actively searching like I used to eons ago... Still, I am happy to hear he is coming out with a new drama. 

 

I may have moved on to other actors ( depends on what I am currently watching ) but Ji Hwan will always have a special part in my heart.

Look at that casting goodness. Beloved actors as far as the eye can see. Sure, we're drowning in men and mostly everyone is wearing black and looking preemptively tired, but creating a work from scratch is no picnic. Jokes aside, the cast for "Children of a Lesser God" looks impressive and judging by the serious atmosphere in these images, the story looks grim.

I've already talked about the characters here, which are described once more in the news accompanying these images, but I still feel like I know very little about them. The drama feels like a mystery wrapped in a riddle, wrapped in an enigma. I mean, we went from a crime drama to the mysterious disappearance of a princess from an I'm-guessing-imaginary kingdom.

I'm trying to gauge how much this will be based on reality vs. whether we're in for a heavily alternate reality. I also wonder how much of an episodic vs. single story plot we will get. Since we have the aforementioned princess, who appears to play a vital role, I'm guessing that finding her will be the show's premise.

I'm still iffy on a lot of things regarding "Children of a Lesser God", but the cast is definitely not one of them. I wish the production and them well. The drama will follow "Bad Guys : Vile City" and it's therefore slated for a mid-February premiere on OCN.
