The drama 'Doctor Slump' has confirmed the casting of Park Hyeong-sik, Park Shin-hye, Yoon Park, and Kong Seong-ha and begins filming.
 

JTBC's new drama 'Doctor Slump' (director Oh Hyeon-jong, screenplay Baek Seon-woo) is a romantic comedy depicting the cardiopulmonary resuscitation of 'ruined life' of Yeo Yeo-woo (Park Hyung-sik) and Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye), who hit the brakes while running only on the upward curve of life. The process of two rivals reuniting in the darkest period of their lives becoming each other's light brings laughter, excitement and warm comfort.

Park Hyung-sik and Park Shin-hye reunited 10 years after 'The Heirs'. Park Hyung-sik plays Yeo Yeon-woo, a star plastic surgeon who falls into the worst slump of his life. From his school days, when he took first place in the school, to the best medical school in Korea, and to becoming a star doctor with both skills and character, Yeo Jeong-woo's life was truly solid. However, he is driven to the edge of a cliff for a moment due to a mysterious medical accident. Park Hyeong-sik said, "It's been a long time since I've been in a romantic comedy, so I'm nervous and excited. It's nice and I'm looking forward to meeting again with actress Park Shin-hye after a long time." “I think it will be a more interesting work because the director and writer of ‘Trust and See’ are here. I am happy to be able to give laughter and emotion to the viewers. We sincerely ask for your interest, love and support.”

Park Shin-hye took on the role of Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist suffering from burnout syndrome, and delivered news of a new work in two years. Nam Ha-neul, who was called a genius since her birth, lived crazy about studying with her brilliant brain and fierce efforts, and became an adult who is crazy about work even after becoming a doctor. One day, when she lived a boring life where she didn't know how to do anything but study and work, she suddenly looked back on her own life, which had been ruined, and vowed to change her life. Park Shin-hye said, “It seems that everyone encounters a slump in life. She is the type to worry a lot about how she can overcome that moment wisely and live a healthy life, so she sympathizes with the character of Nam Ha-neul. She felt a sense of sympathy with the situations he was facing, so it seems to have moved her heart even more.”

Yoon Park plays Bin Dae-yeong, a plastic surgeon who is bluffing. Although she has a rivalry with Wu, a well-known college classmate, she understands him more than anyone else. Yoon Park, who will add to the fun of the play by going back and forth between seriousness and sagacity, said, “I am very excited to meet a good director and actors through the work. While we patiently await her return to our screens, let’s take a look at Korean actress Park Shin-hye’s sparkling career to date – and what it is about her that has made her such a big draw for viewers time and again.

Born in Gwangju in southwest South Korea in 1990, Park began her screen career early, appearing as the child version of Choi Ji-woo’s lead character in the 2003 drama Stairway to Heaven, and she’s been acting ever since.

Park, now 33 years old, initially harboured dreams of becoming a police officer when she was young, an ambition inspired by a burglary at the family home while she was in elementary school.

However, the young Park had many interests, among them singing, dancing and playing the piano and guitar, and it was acting that she eventually settled on – although she has from time to time displayed her other talents on screen.

Why we love her

Whereas many popular young actresses command legions of fans thanks to a special aura that sets them apart from the rest of us, Park’s appeal has always been her relatability. Her girl-next-door quality is only amplified by her cute looks and photogenic dimples.

Park describes herself as an ordinary person. She credits this ordinariness with her ability to immerse herself in a variety of roles, seeing herself as a blank slate that can be easily moulded to fit different characters.

 

 

Like many of the characters she plays, in real life she throws herself into the things she commits to. She took an unusually long time to complete her university studies, as she was serious about never skipping classes while also pursuing her acting career.

She is open about how, after signing on to projects, she experiences strong migraines while preparing for roles – which disappear the moment she arrives on set.

What also sets Park apart is her daring choice of roles. She’s known primarily for acting in romances, but as a teenager she took on a cross-dressing role in You’re Beautiful and since then has often appeared in challenging horror and thriller roles.

The star-making roles

These days Park is best known for her roles in television drama series, but many of her most significant work has been on the big screen. A few notable projects put her on the path to superstardom early in her career.

 

Among them was the hit romantic comedy Cyrano Agency in 2010. Park plays a no-nonsense member of the titular agency, which, in a twist on matchmaking companies, orchestrates situations to help their clients’ crushes fall for them.

On April 28, both Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye attended the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards as presenters. Following the event, Park Hyung Sik took to Instagram to share an adorable photo with his former and current co-star Park Shin Hye.

 

The two were confirmed last month to reunite as co-stars in JTBC’s upcoming rom-com “Doctor Slump” (literal title), which follows the story of two rivals who try to resuscitate their lives when they fall into a slump after only having followed successful paths.
