Watch: Geum Sae Rok Faces Romantic Drama With Kim Jung Hyun And Choi Tae Joon In New "Iron Family" Teaser

KBS2’s upcoming drama “Iron Family” has unveiled an intriguing teaser video, offering a glimpse into its first episode!

Penned by screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang of “Pasta,” “Don’t Dare to Dream” (also known as “Jealousy Incarnate”), and “Wok of Love,” “Iron Family” is a dark comedy about a family that has run a laundry business for three generations.

The newly released video gives a sneak peek into the family and love life of the main character Lee Da Rim (Geum Sae Rok). It starts with Da Rim scratching a lottery ticket, while the voice-over narration—presumably her mother—emphasizes, “You need to work hard to earn and save every penny!”

The teaser then builds tension as Seo Kang Joo (Kim Jung Hyun) expresses his frustration, saying, “What did I do wrong? You’re the one who asked me to go to a motel together!” Meanwhile, another scene shows Da Rim with a shirtless Cha Tae Woong (Choi Tae Joon), teasing viewers about the love triangle between these three characters.

The video concludes with Kang Joo’s surprised expression as a voice-over poses the question: “Why shouldn’t we report this? Is it something the police shouldn’t know about?” This leaves viewers eager to find out the twists and turns Da Rim and her family will encounter.

20240926045846_iron-family-8_819d47.jpg?“Iron Family” Cast Shares Key Reasons To Look Forward To The Drama

Sep 28, 2024
by E Ezeji

The main cast of KBS2’s new weekend drama “Iron Family” has shared their thoughts on what viewers can look forward to in the drama!

“Iron Family” is a new “romantic black comedy” about a family that has run a laundry business for three generations. Geum Sae Rok stars as Lee Da Rim, the youngest daughter of the Cheongryeom Laundry family, who suffers from a rare illness that progressively narrows her vision. Kim Jung Hyun plays Seo Kang Joo, an executive director at Jiseung Group, who belongs to the richest family in the Cheongryeom neighborhood but struggles to earn the approval of his father.

First, Kim Jung Hyun described “Iron Family” as “relaxing,” explaining, “I think it will be nice for families to watch the show together, laugh, and take a break.” He added, “‘Iron Family’ tells the story of two families living in the same neighborhood—one with a traditional Korean family structure and another that only appears to be a family. The drama becomes more interesting if you think about how these two families live and reflect on the broader meaning of family.”

Next, Geum Sae Rok highlighted the unique charm of “Iron Family,” saying, “There are various characters that viewers can relate to depending on their personal situations.” She also expressed her affection for the drama, saying, “All the characters are endearing, and the situations they face will resonate with many people.”

Park Ji Young commented, “‘Iron Family’ might seem like a typical weekend drama. Viewers may have specific expectations for a weekend drama, but this drama has something special that will make it more exciting than people expect.” She added, “My character, Go Bong Hee, interacts with every other character in the show. If you focus on how Bong Hee handles things, the whole story will naturally come together,” further sparking interest in the drama.

Anyone planning on checking this drama out?

I like the cast.

I've seen this formula before....

  • Childhood storyarc (This is where something tramatic happens to the FL  like one of her parents dying)

-Time Jump-

  • Spunky Part-Timer storyarc (This is where the FL meets ML for the first time, and start off hating each other OR they were childhood friends but don't remember each other)

-Time Jump -

  • Corporate Employee storyarc (This is where she gets a job that she's obviously not qualified but got it anyway because of the chaebol family she is assosiated too)

One household is a poor family (Most likely the FL), and another household is a chaebol family (Most likely either the ML or SML), and one household that belongs to the SFL

I am a fan of weekend dramas, but they have been so hit and miss, sadly just as one gets to like the characters, often, the writing goes haywire - was extremely disappointed with Beauty & Mr  Romantic, but will give this a try...

  • partyon changed the title to [Current Drama 2024] Iron Family, 다리미 패밀리- Kim Jung Hyun & Geum Sae Rok- Sat& Sun

@backstreetboysfan @kboramint @Gaia2u @Lmangla

Good first episode. Except for the depressing first part of how the family was struggling with Da Rim's dad not passing the bar exam, I enjoyed it a lot!

I was not expecting a bed scene in ep 1 of a family weekend drama. Times have changed since my last weekend drama in 2016 :joy:

Looks like our main couple were quite smitten with each other 8 years ago during college - dare I even say, in love with each other? Wonder what happened and why he never called her after his military enlistment?

Did he get amnesia? Did his rich family threaten him? Was there a misunderstanding? Am not fully clear if he remembers her 100%.

I do like the fact that she was already blind when they got together 8 years ago. Had the blindness happened after that, I wouldn't be clear if he will fall in love with her or pities her. Seems they genuinely liked each other back in the day.

407329_407525_4536.png

It was quite strange that Da Rim's dad couldn't pass the bar exam after having excelled in the first exam. Since Da Rim's eye disease is hereditary, am wondering if he couldn't pass it because he was suffering from the same condition but kept it a secret?

And why are the grandparents getting so many cancers? Could it have something to do with their dry cleaning? :scream:

Am already having 2nd lead syndrome. Cha Tae Woong is swoon worthy. Glad to see him in a drama again. Am guessing he will be paired up with Da Rim's sister in the end, though?

SE-ff90ba83-fc23-4477-9cc3-f1b363f0cd12.

This scene cracked me up for some reason. :joy: Guess he deserved it after not contacting her.

Really great start with a solid cast!

Park Ji Young Is Worried About Her Daughter Geum Sae Rok In

Park Ji Young Is Worried About Her Daughter Geum Sae Rok In "Iron Family"

KBS2’s new weekend drama “Iron Family” has previewed the upcoming episode!

Penned by screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang of “Pasta,” “Don’t Dare to Dream” (also known as “Jealousy Incarnate”), and “Wok of Love,” “Iron Family” is a dark comedy about a family that has run a laundry business for three generations.

Spoilers

Previously, Lee Da Rim (Geum Sae Rok) heard the miraculous news that she could receive surgery for her eyes. However, the surgery would cost 800 million won (approximately $610,500), so Lee Da Rim hid the news from her family in order not to be a burden. At the end of the episode, Lee Da Rim tried a lottery scratch ticket that Cha Tae Woong (Choi Tae Joon) bought in order to win the money, but her efforts were only in vain.

The newly released stills for episode 2 reveal Lee Da Rim, who appears to be near tears, and her mother Go Bong Hee (Park Ji Young) who is looking at her affectionately. Go Bong Hee seems to be aware of how hopeful Lee Da Rim was to win the lottery and senses her disappointment.

Although Go Bong Hee is also disappointed in losing the lottery, she acts calmly. Furthermore, she appears to catch on to Da Rim’s strange behavior as Da Rim is trying to hide the news about her surgery from her family.

Viewers are curious to find out if Da Rim will tell Bong Hee about the surgery or whether Bong Hee will find out about it first.

“Iron Family” airs every Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. KST.
