Kim Hee Sun And Her Family Welcome You To A

Kim Hee Sun And Her Family Welcome You To A "Bitter Sweet Hell" In New Drama

MBC’s upcoming drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has unveiled a new group poster!

“Bitter Sweet Hell” is a black comedy starring Kim Hee Sun as Noh Young Won, the top family psychiatrist in all of Korea. When an anonymous blackmailer puts her career and family at risk, Noh Young Won teams up with her mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young), a mystery novelist, to protect their family.

The newly released poster introduces viewers to the members of Noh Young Won’s family—and a mysterious guest who sits at the center of their dinner table. Noh Young Won steps out of the house-shaped hole in the wall and leaves her family behind, with her frozen expression capturing her shock after unexpectedly learning her family members’ hidden secrets.

Meanwhile, both Noh Young Won’s teenage son Choi Do Hyun (DKZ’s Jaechan) and the mysterious outsider Lee Se Na (Yeonwoo) stare straight ahead with awkward, emotionless expressions, piquing curiosity about Lee Se Na’s role at this uncomfortable family meal.

Unlike his poker-faced family members, Choi Jae Jin (Kim Nam Hee) wears a bright smile as he faces the camera, while his mother Hong Sa Gang exudes a powerful aura in an eye-catching red dress and high heels.

The “Bitter Sweet Hell” production team commented, “Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, Kim Nam Hee, Yeonwoo, and Jaechan each have their own strong and distinct colors, and they joined forces to create a new and unique atmosphere that hasn’t been seen before.”

They went on to add, “Please look forward to seeing what kind of fantastic chemistry these five people will create in ‘Bitter Sweet Hell.’”

“Bitter Sweet Hell” premieres on May 24 at 9:50 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on Viki.

Watch: Kim Hee Sun Reluctantly Teams Up With The Suspicious Lee Hye Young In New "Bitter Sweet Hell" Teaser

May 16, 2024

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has released its third teaser!

“Bitter Sweet Hell” is highly anticipated with its star-studded cast, including Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, Kim Nam Hee, Jae Chan, Yeonwoo, Hwang Chan Sung, Shin So Yul, and more, who will portray the intricately intertwined relationships of the characters. Adding to the excitement, director Lee Dong Hyun, known for his nuanced directing in “Doctor Lawyer” and “She Knows Everything,” teams up with writer Nam Ji Yeon, acclaimed for her vibrant characters and fast-paced storytelling in the drama “So I Married the Anti-Fan.”

In the teaser, Noh Young Won’s anger erupts like a sudden storm, her voice ringing out with frustration. Meanwhile, her husband Choi Jae Jin (Kim Nam Hee) dances joyfully, seemingly unaware of the tension, as another woman casually shaves him. Noh Young Won asks a powerful question, her eyes filled with determination, wondering if someone who deceives you for 15 years can still be considered family. Amidst the emotional turmoil, Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young) approaches her tearful daughter-in-law, her voice filled with empathy.

In a tense moment, the phrase, “My ally who seems like not my ally?” appears, adding suspense as Hong Sa Gang strikes eerie poses while dancing. A voice warns, “Be careful. There might be a novel about a daughter-in-law’s murder.” Noh Young Won’s expression, filled with intrigue and complexity, contrasts with Hong Sa Gang’s actions at the keyboard, muttering as a dog bark in the background.

However, this supposed ally led Noh Young Won to mistrust Hong Sa Gang, with someone accusing Hong Sa Gang of being a witch and implying she’s untrustworthy. In another scene, Noh Young Won is seen behind bars, her mother-in-law sitting opposite, urging Noh Young Won to trust her. This incident likely triggered their uneasy partnership as they breach a crime scene despite Noh Young Won’s reluctance. They continue their mission together, but Noh Young Won remains suspicious of her mother-in-law’s true motives as they encounter dangerous incidents, hiding in a wardrobe and boarding a ferry in search of something. A car is also seen submerged in water, its occupants unknown. The teaser ends with Hong Sa Gang calmly stating, “Don’t you get it yet? We’re a team now.”

after watching the first two episodes. I have so many questions.

There are so many suspicious people. We have already two dead person plus YW dad who was already dead when the drama started. So basically 3 dead.

Cheating, Politics, lies and suspence.  Start was really good.

I am not sure that I like this drama so much. I am feeling a strange disconnect with the script. I feel like it doesn't flow very naturally and it's somehow a bit uneven.

But I will continue. Have a feeling the hubby doesn't at all like his wife that much. Actually, I have a feeling he resents her a lot because it's clear that his father preferred her - even when they were kids.

@lebeaucouple did you notice that they used the same house in ep 2 as they used in Hide?

@partyon - yes you spot on . Me too I have the same feeling when I watched this scene. Use the same place, great mind think alike.😁

Right now, I only think that his husband may be a gay, he likes man, more than a woman, his marriage is just camouflage because of their prestigious family background....I may be wrong...let's see.

It was something that I also thought about. Why is he so chummy with the younger guy?

The synopsis of the drama on MDL says that the hubby had/has an affair with the younger girl, but could be a red herring of course. The girl could be an illegitimate child of the prosecutor DIL who died. The younger guy could be one as well.

One thing is for sure. There is an illegitimate child somewhere. :D
