TVING original fantasy drama Death's Game unveiled Park So Dam's stills. 

Death's Game is the story of Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk), who goes through the cycle of life and death 12 times as a punishment from the immortal being Death (Park So Dam) after he tries to take his own life.

Park So Dam plays the role of Death, a mysterious other-worldly being who passes judgment on Choi Yi Jae in the K-drama. Despite having the appearance of a woman, her age, powers, and even whether she is an angel or a demon are all unknown. 

The still cuts vividly depict the eerie landscapes of Death's Den.

She is seen in a sleek hairstyle and all-black clothes. The first pic of the character shows her wearing a cold expression, but she gives a little smile.

 

 

The way she points a gun and her chilling gaze as she stands reading a paper showcase her charisma. 

 

 

 

 

Of particular note is the subtle shift in Death's otherwise impassive countenance. Her curious gaze adds a layer of tension.

The reason why Death imposed such punishment on Choi Yi Jae, whose mere gaze can freeze everything around her, leaves viewers curious about her intentions. Their anticipated encounter will hopefully answer all the questions.

Park So Dam's performance as she takes on her first otherworldly character is a testament to her versatility as an actress. Fans eagerly anticipate her return to the small screen.  

Death's Game will premiere in December. Global audiences can stream the K-drama on Prime Video. The release date is yet to be announced. Stay tuned!

TVING’s upcoming drama “Death’s Game” has shared a new glimpse of Park So Dam in her unusual role!

 

Based on the webtoon of the same name, “Death’s Game” tells the story of a man who gets more than one second chance at life after facing death. Park So Dam will play the role of Death, who sentences a man named Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk) to 12 cycles of life and death.

 

While Death takes the form of a human woman in the drama, Park So Dam’s character is far from human. A mysterious supernatural entity who judges the dead before they fall to hell, Death is unknowable—her age, powers, and whether she is a god or the devil herself are all veiled in mystery.

 

The suspenseful new stills from the upcoming drama capture Death in her lair, where she gazes coldly at the mortal she is about to judge. In one photo, she exudes an icy aura as she glances up from a piece of paper; in another, she maintains her unshakable composure and poker face as she aims at a gun at someone.

 

 

However, the final photo—where her lips turn up in a hint of a smirk—is the most intimidating of all. What sort of punishment will Death have in mind for Choi Yi Jae, whose unexpected death has confounded her?

Reincarnation as retribution for Seo In-gook in Death’s Game

A new teaser is out for TVING original Death’s Game, giving us another glimpse into the many reincarnations of Seo In-gook (Cafe Minamdang). The drama remains tight-lipped about its plot, choosing to only dole out sneak peeks into its premise, but given the outstanding cast? My hopes are high anyway.

As the camera pans across the stormy seas of hell, Death — played by a heavily-eyelinered Park So-dam (Record of Youth) — declares, “Choi Yi-jae. You will die a dozen times.” Yi-jae, played by a bespectacled Seo In-gook, can barely believe his ears. A tear track lines his cheek, but Death is impassive.

 

“Your soul will transmigrate into twelve different bodies that face impending death,” she explains. No matter what life Yi-jae is thrust into, death is an inevitable fate. As Death narrates, we’re shown a montage of Yi-jae’s twelve trials. Lee Do-hyun (The Good Bad Mother) stays placidly unimpressed in a bustling club, while Kim Jae-wook (Crazy Love) broods in an eerily-lit red room (he’s reminding me of Choi Yoon’s torment crossed with Mo Tae-gu’s creepiness, and I am very much here for it).

 

 

If Kim Jae-wook represents the devil’s temptation, then presumably the churchgoer Kim Ji-hoon (Money Heist: Korea — Joint Economic Area) stands for the angel’s salvation. Steering us away from the darkness, Go Yoon-jung (Alchemy of Souls 2) looks ethereal under a cherry blossom tree, while Lee Jae-wook (Alchemy of Souls 2) furrows his brows in front a pier.

Adding to the diversity of Yi-jae’s lives, a uniformed Kim Kang-hoon (Reborn Rich) stands amidst the disarray of his school’s gym, while Jang Seung-jo (Strangers Again) attends a fancy wine party. Finally, we have Oh Jung-se (Revenant) in a police station, Choi Siwon (Work Later, Drink Now 2) at what seems to be a shooting range, and Sung Hoon (Perfect Marriage Revenge) in a broadcasting station, overseeing a skydiving program.

So, how did Yi-jae end up in this perplexing situation? Apparently, it’s a punishment of his own making. Perpetually broke and unemployed, Yi-jae had decided to end it all, and Death deemed him deserving of punishment for taking life too lightly. If Yi-jae wants to avoid going to hell, then he’ll have to try his hardest to thwart death — and hopefully learn to value life in the meantime.

Directed and written by PD Ha Byung-hoon (18 Again, Go Back Spouses), the webtoon adaptation Death’s Game premieres on December 15.

Watch: Park So Dam Punishes Seo In Guk With The Experience Of 12 Deaths In Upcoming Drama “Death’s Game”

 

TVING’s highly-anticipated upcoming drama “Death’s Game” has unveiled a new teaser and poster!

 

“Death’s Game” will tell the story of a man who gets more than one second chance at life after facing death. Park So Dam will play the role of Death, who sentences a man named Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk) to 12 cycles of life and death right before his first life is about to end.

 

In addition to Seo In Guk and Park So Dam, the drama features a star-studded cast including Kim Ji Hoon, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Sung Hoon, Kim Kang Hoon, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Do Hyun, Go Yoon Jung, Kim Jae Wook, and Oh Jung Se.

 

Warning: mentions of attempted suicide in the next paragraph.

The newly released teaser video begins with Choi Yi Jae throwing himself from a rooftop along with his voice saying, “I wanted to die clean.” Choi Yi Jae opens his eyes and finds himself in a mysterious place. Angry Death (Park So Dam) approaches and tells him, “Taste how painful death is.” The following clip unfolds a series of Choi Yi Jae’s deaths that take place one after another such as him being on a plane that explodes, falling from the sky, and getting hit by a car on a bridge.

 

 

The main poster which was released along with the teaser video shows the chilling relationship between Choi Yi Jae and Death. Death’s fingertips are aimed at Choi Yi Jae’s neck, emitting smoke as if her hand is a real pistol. The text that reads, “After death,” hints at Choi Yi Jae’s fate of having to experience death 12 times as a punishment.

Seo In-gook faces punishment in Death’s Game

In case you’ve been curious about TVING original Death’s Game, another teaser is here to shed light on the doom awaiting our reincarnating hero Seo In-gook (Cafe Minamdang). After teasing us for weeks with mere glimpses of its stellar cast, the drama has finally revealed a little more of what’s in store.

Beleaguered by perennial unemployment and dwindling finances, Choi Yi-jae (Seo In-gook) can barely see a future ahead of him. As Yi-jae steps onto a building’s ledge, he narrates: “I wanted to die cleanly.” Then he’s falling, but instead of crashing onto the pavement below, he finds himself transported to the underworld. There, he comes face-to-face with a peeved Park So-dam (Record of Youth).

 

She’s Death, and she isn’t pleased that he’s throwing away his chance at life. To teach him a lesson, she decides to have him undergo a trial by fire — he’ll be given twelve more chances at life, but none of these incarnations have long to live. Yi-jae will be forced to suffer through death all twelve times, unless he manages to figure out a strategy to survive.

As a sneak peek of what’s in store for Yi-jae, we see flashes of his impending deaths. Miles up high in the sky, passengers onboard a plane are flung out of a gaping hole in its hull. Of course, no dramaland death is complete without our trusty Truck of Doom, which shines its headlights on Kim Kang-hoon (Reborn Rich).

Elsewhere, Kim Jae-wook (Crazy Love) struggles against his bindings on a butcher’s table, as his captor brings a saw dangerously close to his legs. Apart from a deliberate act of waterboarding, we also see a series of accidents: an explosion, a skydiving mishap, a motorcycle crash, and an entire signboard dropping on someone’s head.

If these previews are anything to go by, Yi-jae’s in for a world of pain as he meets his demise through a variety of excruciating methods. Will his torment lead to remorse and repentance? There’s only one way to find out — Death pulls the trigger on an ornate gun, and Yi-jae’s ordeal begins.

Helmed by PD Ha Byung-hoon (18 Again, Go Back Spouses) on both the directing and scriptwriting fronts, the webtoon adaptation Death’s Game is slated for a December 15 premiere.

"Death's Game" Stars Light Up the Script Reading Session of the K-Drama

The TVING original series Death's Game dropped pics from the script reading session of the K-drama. 

Death's Game is the story of Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk), who goes through the cycle of life and death 12 times as a punishment for trying to take his own life.

Death's Game has an all-star cast including Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Kim Ji Hoon, Choi Si Won, Sung Hoon, Kim Kang Hoon, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Do Hyun, Go Youn Jung, Kim Jae Wook, and Oh Jung Se.

The script reading session was attended by director Ha Byung Hoon and the main cast, including Seo In Guk, Park So Dam, Kim Ji Hoon, Lee Jae Wook, Go Yoon Jung, and Yoo In Soo. 

After exchanging warm greetings, the actors immersed themselves in their characters as the script reading began.

Seo In Guk meticulously portrayed the emotional turmoil of Choi Yi Jae, who gave up on his life but found himself living 12 lives as a form of punishment from Death. 

Park So Dam exuded a dark aura, portraying the charisma of Death, an entity neither divine nor demonic. 

Kim Ji Hoon injected tension into the session by taking on the role of Park Tae Woo, a character not present in the original webtoon. Go Yoon Jung transformed into Lee Ji Soo, delivering her dialogues in a calm and composed tone.

Lee Jae Wook captivated with a commanding voice that caught everyone's attention, while Yoo In Soo made an impression with his strong presence. 

 

 

The cast, maintaining their speaking style similar to one another, portrayed excellent teamwork and synergy with Seo In Guk as if they were acting as one person.

The production team shared that the challenge was to show the same character in different ways (as Choi Yi Jae goes through numerous incarnations), and the actors' performances solidified the drama's worldview. They asked for viewers' high expectations. 

The production team also released a new poster and a teaser. 

 

 

Death's Game will premiere on December 15. Global audiences can stream the K-drama on Prime Video.

The upcoming TVING original series, Death's Game, is the story of Choi Yi Jae (Seo In Guk), a perennially unemployed man struggling in all spheres of life, who goes through the cycle of life and death 12 times as a punishment from Death (Park So Dam) before falling into hell.

Kim Ji Hoon (Flower of Evil, Ballerina) is among the supporting cast members of the K-drama. He does not appear as a reincarnation but as a separate character who has an influence on Choi Yi Jae's (Seo In Guk) story.

Park Tae Woo is the eldest son and CEO of Taekang Group. He has grown up without faults since birth, carrying an air of nobility. Within the company, Tae Woo earns the trust of the employees with his gentle image.

The stills capture the daily life of Park Tae Woo. Wearing a perfectly fitted suit, he is shown immersed in his work, exuding CEO vibes. In another still, he is shown enjoying his hobby of shooting, a testament to his effortless charisma. Curiosity piques about what role Park Tae Woo will play in Choi Yi Jae's life and when he will appear in the cycle of 12 deaths and lives that Yi Jae undergoes.
 

 

 

 

Particularly interesting is the fact that Park Tae Woo is not a character from the original webtoon but a creation born from director Ha Byung Hoon's adaptation.

The production team shared, "We added characters and other settings to double the dramatic tension while holding onto the message and maintaining the fun of the original webtoon. It will be fun to compare the differences between the adaptation and the original."
