tvN’s upcoming drama “Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong” (literal title) shared new posters of the main leads!

Based off a novel of the same name, “Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se Poong” depicts the story of Yoo Se Poong (Kim Min Jae), a well-known internal medicine doctor who gets expelled from the royal court after being caught up in a conspiracy. Afterwards, he meets Seo Eun Woo (Kim Hyang Gi) and Gye Ji Han (Kim Sang Kyung) in the strange and beautiful Gyesu village and works to become a true doctor who heals the heart.

The newly released posters capture the three doctors of Gyesu village. Yoo Se Poong smiles warmly in his new poster. With outstanding acupuncture skills and a gentle appearance, Yoo Se Poong is a star doctor for the royal family, and he is well-known for being a top doctor. However, the text on his poster reads, “A genius doctor who lost his abilities as an acupuncturist. He feels the pulse of one’s heart,” raising questions about what incident will cause him to lose his abilities. Furthermore, next to his name Yoo Se Poong is the name Yoo Se Yeob in parentheses, making viewers wonder about the story behind his name.

 

Seo Eun Woo’s eyes shine brightly, filled with dreams and curiosity. The text on her poster reads, “Jack-of-all-trades and unexpected widow Seo Eun Woo, she deduces the stories of those who are heartbroken,” hinting at how she has great empathy for others. After a sudden marriage, Seo Eun Woo becomes in danger of involuntarily becoming a wife who stays virtuous to her deceased husband, but she meets Yoo Se Poong and faces dramatic changes. Viewers are anticipating Seo Eun Woo’s transformation into a doctor who truly heals hearts.

 

 

Gye Ji Han exudes great charisma in his poster, revealing a look of dissatisfaction. The liquor bottle and coins on his poster seem to hint at how Gye Ji Han is rumored to be a greedy and eccentric doctor. However, Gye Ji Han’s firm and deep gaze convey his years of experience, and despite his outward appearance, Gye Ji Han is actually a sincere person who eventually becomes a mentor to Yoo Se Poong. Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong is open for business in new promos

We get our first look at tvN’s Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong in a short new video teaser and behind-the-scenes stills featuring our main trio: Kim Min-jae (Dal-li and Gamjatang), Kim Hyang-gi (Moment at Eighteen), and Kim Sang-kyung (Racket Boys).

Based on a popular novel by the same name, the comedy sageuk stars Kim Min-jae as the titular Yoo Se-poong. Although he once had the honor of becoming a royal physician, he’s kicked out of the palace following an unexpected scandal and his reputation is tarnished as a doctor who can’t handle needles.

 

In the outside world, he encounters the young widow Seo Eun-woo – played by Kim Hyang-gi – who hails from a noble family in the country side. Full of dreams, curiosity, and compassion, she strives to help others who are emotionally hurting.

Rounding out the trio is Kim Sang-kyung, who plays their eccentric teacher Kye Ji-han. On the surface, he seems like he’s only chasing money, but his intentions always come from a place of care, and he helps guide our young physician into becoming a real doctor.

 

In supporting roles we have Yoo Se-poong’s adorkable servant Ahn Chang-hwan (Showtime Begins!), royal inspector Jung Won-chang (The Uncanny Counter), as well as the ambitious court physician Lee Seo-hwan (Love All Play).

The new teaser begins with our trio stuck behind locked doors and we hear teacher Kye Ji-han complaining, “Why isn’t the door opening?” Yoo Se-poong thinks they can get it open if they try a little more and teacher Kye instructs him to use more strength. Widow Seo Eun-woo warns them, though, to still be careful before Yoo happily announces, “It’s open!”

As the doors swing open, we finally see our trio’s smiling faces and our friendly physician asks, “What kind of pain brought you here? Let me see how your mind and heart are doing first.” The video then closes on our three heroes standing demurely together outside.

Production for the drama is being led by a team of a five with PD Park Won-gook (Special Labor Inspector Jo) and PD Kang Hee-joo co-directing, and Park Seul-gi, Choi Min-ho, and Lee Bom writing. Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong will be premiering August 1 in tvN’s Monday-Tuesday slot.

Actor Oh Kyung-joo will appear in 'Chosun Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong'.According to his agency Vibe Actors on the 28th, Oh Kyung-joo was cast in tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Chosun Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong' (directed by Park Won-guk, written by Park Seul-gi, Choi Min-ho, Lee Bom, planned Studio Dragon, produced by Media Can, Ilchwiwoljang).

 

Oh Kyung-joo plays the role of Crown Prince in the play. The Crown Prince is involved in an unexpected incident along with Yoo Se-pung, who faces a major change in her life. She plans to play an active part in the campaign and digging into the noisy questions inside and outside the palace.

“Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist” has released new character teasers for Kim Min Jae, Kim Hyang Gi, and Kim Sang Kyung!

Based off a novel of the same name, tvN’s “Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist” depicts the story of Yoo Se Poong (Kim Min Jae), a well-known internal medicine doctor who gets expelled from the royal court after being caught up in a conspiracy. Afterwards, he meets Seo Eun Woo (Kim Hyang Gi) and Gye Ji Han (Kim Sang Kyung) in the strange and beautiful Gyesu village and works to become a true doctor who heals the heart.

The newly released individual teasers showcase the secret and unpredictable pasts of each character and how they work to overcome all hurt in their hearts.

Kim Min Jae’s teaser starts with him in a nerve-wracking acupuncture session. While he prepares to insert a needle into his patient, he starts to sweat and quiver as nasty comments run through his mind, such as, “He killed the king” and “Who else are you going to kill with acupuncture?”

What wakes him is Gye Ji Han loudly calling out for him while Seo Eun Woo adds with a soft smile, “We have to go visit our patient, doctor.”

 

 

Although Seo Eun Woo is full of dreams and curiosity, her past was also not an easy one. After suddenly becoming a wife and even more suddenly becoming a widow, Seo Eun Woo falls in danger of involuntarily becoming a wife who stays virtuous to her deceased husband. To make matters worse, those around her gossip, assuming she killed her husband and wishing bad fortune onto her.

Seo Eun Woo endures all this pain alone, but then determinedly blows out the wavering candle in front of her. In that moment, she wakes up to Gye Ji Han and Yoo Se Poong.

 

 

 

The teaser for Gye Ji Han begins with him in a drunken state with an empty gaze. As he continues to empty his cup, voices float around him calling out, “He abandoned his teacher and ran away,” “Cowardly man,” and “They say he even ran away from the palace infirmary.”

The dark atmosphere changes in an instant as a wad of coins falls into Gye Ji Han’s hands and the money-hungry man exclaims with a loud laugh, “We will treat you with advanced care. With the highest level of luxury.”

Finding healing with Kim Min-jae in tvN’s Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong

More promos have been released for tvN’s upcoming comedy-sageuk Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong, and we get a peek at the backstory for our trio of heroes in new character posters and video teasers.

With Kim Min-jae (Dal-li and Gamjatang) as the former royal physician Yoo Se-poong, Kim Hyang-gi (Moment at Eighteen) plays a widowed gentry lady named Seo Eun-woo, while Kim Sang-kyung (Racket Boys) is the oddball teacher Kye Ji-han.

 

Despite their different backgrounds, the three form an unlikely but endearing little team who are striving to help people heal from matters of the heart or mind. Through their journey, they’re able to extend that help to each other as well, and find healing and growth for their own past wounds.

 

 

In the first teaser, we start with a flashback to Physician Yoo’s past. While preparing to treat a patient with acupuncture, his nerves get the better of him and he’s overwhelmed by memories of people’s judgmental voices.

One voice whispers that Yoo killed the king and that he was kicked out of the palace, while the others sneer and question his competence. Teacher Kye’s loud voice brings Yoo back to the present and Widow Seo warmly reminds him that they need to leave. Smiling in response, Yoo’s narration closes the teaser: “Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong. We shall meet you in August.”

 

Last but not least, the third teaser features our young widow Seo and starts with her flashback as well. As she sits alone in her room, her thoughts are preoccupied with the voices of people gossiping after her husband’s death, pitying and scorning her misfortunes and worth.

Seo is then shaken back to the present as Teacher Kye calls out to her and Physician Yoo asks if the medicine will be ready by today. Blowing on the flames to keep the fire going, the teaser ends on Seo’s narration: “Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong. We shall meet you in August.”

The newly released stills show Kim Min Jae’s flawless transformation into Yoo Se Poong, and the actor is expected to maximize the character’s charms with his impressive performance. In the photos, Yoo Se Poong’s life takes a turn for the worse. In the first couple photos, he exudes the aura of a competent doctor who is trusted by the royal family. He catches the eye with his excellent acupuncture skills and handsome appearance, and he has a serious attitude towards his patients. However, the final photo shows him looking empty and depressed in prison, amping up curiosity about how he turned into a doctor who loses his acupuncture abilities.

Concerning the reason why he chose this drama as his next project, Kim Min Jae explained, “The various episodes that occur while healing hearts and the story of the medical staff becoming healed while treating others were attractive. As I watched the process of Yoo Se Poong, genius chef who loses his acupuncture skills, overcoming hardships and pain and being reborn, I cried out of heartbreak, laughed, and felt my heart turning hot. I think it’s a drama that will convey good feelings to people living in the present era.”

Kim Min Jae also described his character, saying, “He is a person with a good personality and moral and upright values. He is a warm-hearted and respectable doctor. He doesn’t hesitate to do anything if it’s related to his patients, and there are times he can’t control his anger, but he’s essential to patients and fits well with the word ‘doctor.'”

The actor continued, “Rather than using vague consolation such as ‘I will help someone’ and ‘I will tell you warm words,’ I built the character in the form of a doctor whom you will think of when you wonder ‘What if I were a patient?’ I acted as a doctor who experiences the patient’s pain with them.”

The first character stills of Kim Min-jae (Dal-li and Gamjatang) are out for tvN’s Joseon Psychiatrist Yoo Se-poong. Playing the titular character Yoo Se-poong, the stills show him at different points in his life. It looks like there are lots of highs and lows in store, with one image seemingly showing Yoo Se-poong in prison, and the others showing him in physician mode. Though he was once a talented physician in the royal court, his life changes when he suddenly finds himself unable to administer acupuncture to his patients. This may be the origin of his beginnings as a psychiatrist (after all, when would a psychiatrist need to mess with needles?), but we’ll have to wait to learn more. Joseon Psychiatrist will air Mondays and Tuesdays on tvN, beginning August 1. [Sports Donga]

Based off a novel of the same name, “Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist” depicts the story of Yoo Se Poong (Kim Min Jae), a well-known internal medicine doctor who gets expelled from the royal court after being caught up in a conspiracy. Afterwards, he meets Seo Eun Woo (Kim Hyang Gi) and Gye Ji Han (Kim Sang Kyung) in the strange and beautiful Gyesu village and works to become a true doctor who heals the heart.

 

The warm teaser starts with Seo Eun Woo seeing Yoo Se Poong for the first time. She softly asks, You’re from the royal infirmary, right? Since you’re someone who will save a lot of people, you must stay alive!” While her tone seems happy and bright, viewers are left to wonder what kind of circumstances Seo Eun Woo has found Yoo Se Poong in to feel compelled to encourage him to live.

 

As he gets used to his new surroundings, Yoo Se Poong also crosses paths with the eccentric Gye Ji Han and the other personalities of Gyesu village. However, given Yoo Se Poong’s popularity within the royal palace, questions arise about how he ended up in the village. When he sets off to heal the hearts of those who’ve been hurt, Yoo Se Poong grows both as a person and in his unique relationship with Seo Eun Woo.
