[Drama 2021] Chimera, 키마이라

Realistically, I don’t get how Jerome’s mother’s baby would have survived, but I know…this is drama land. In the back of my mind, I thought Hyo Kyung might be the little girl whom we saw in Jerome’s flashback of when his mother being bullied by the neighbors. However, since I don’t believe Jerome is the current Chimera, the possibility of his sibling (Hyo Kyung) avenging for her dead family a would make sense to the present plotline. If she is Chimera though, my question would be how she is able to technically execute the chemistry for the explosions.

I have to say…I love Jerome’s character. He is fearless yet vulnerable at the same time. He needed someone to believe him that he’s not the killer and I really liked the scene of how he got the validation from Eugene. Now that things are starting to go against him, I am hoping Jae Hwan and Eugene won’t lose him. Their unlikely friendship has been enjoyable to watch...fingers crossed it remains true through the end and they will help him through it.

I agree with you on this part. At this point, two birth secrets and two sets of separated siblings would be too much. Not to mention, Hyo Kyung hinted romantic feelings about Eugene to Jae Hwan. It would be weird...at least for me.

seems the lawyer dad didn't know that reporter knew about him being Lee's lawyer 35 years ago.

but how did reporter come to the possibility that Jerome is her older brother?  doesthat mean shehas a hunch that she is theyounger daughter of the Lee accused?  thats why she is so interested in the case?

also in Jerome and Eugene s conversation it seems they arethe onesbeing siblings.

that captain guy and Chief Baek attendedthe same high school.  Captain seems suspicious.

still do not know who is that woman fire culprit back in Episode 1 or 2 in the abandoned building.

Given that Hyo Kyung knew about her real family background early on, I think it is highly likely she is the current Chimera who is responsible for the first 3 explosions. However, Jerome seems to have a master plan (letting others believing he is Chimera) to make Chief Bae, Lee Min Ki and Seo Hyun Tae anxious and make a fatal move. Possibly turn on each other and inadvertently expose themselves.

Based on Cha Eun Soo’s consultation with Jerome in episode 11, I had a feeling that he deduced she is Ryu Sung Hee. In today’s episode, he asked Jae Hwan if he had the courage to expose Chief Bae and the weakness of the police. Jae Hwan responded if you did something wrong, you should pay for it. No matter who you are. Jerome laughed a bit. Then, he asked Jae Hwan, “How is your mother?”. I am certain Jerome knows she is Ryu Sung Hee. Jerome seemed sympathetic toward her. I hope he will not blame her for being the real Chimera as it was not her who is responsible for framing his father.

The current mystery for me besides the identity of the present Chimera is Eugene’s father.  Who is he? I am assuming Eugene=Dasom.  Mrs Cha = Ryu Sung Hee,  being a single mom would be difficult especially when she is a full time researcher so someone has to be helping her with childcare.  It does make sense that she is involved with chairman Seo romantically to allow others to take credit for her works.  Have we agree that Jae Hwan is CEO Seo’s son?  So is Eugen also Seo’s daughter?

Ok so I knew the sibling survived. Just wasn't sure which of the 3. When I mentioned I rewatched the scenes again I was referring to the memory loss of the mother and accident that I had missed.  I was surprised though to see that the reporter girl already knew who she truly was. Daughter of Lee Sang Woo, little sister of Jerome. Was hoping it was her. Trying to let go of the fact that the baby girl didn't die in the fire cuz Eugene being Det.'s big sister may be too much. Tough enough knowing who his father is yikes!

Some 'artistic license' is being used here and that is fine, but babies don't survive in dead mothers for as long as this must have been.  And I didn't expect it to be the reporter but the profiler, but that is good writing and why I am enjoying this drama so much.

I LOVED the scene where the witch and her thugs come into the doctor's apartment and try to intimidate him, oh boy, can't wait till next episode!

From her comments she knew she was the daughter she evidently had been told that her older brother had died.

When Hyo Kyung’s father was silenced by Lee Min Ki back in 1984, I do not think he ended up burning all his trial work. If you look at the files/notebooks from episode 10, the pages and the way they are bounded look dated. I always wondered how Hyo Kyung obtained intel and connected the dots between TH5, the researchers and the Chimera case. I believe she had gone through her father’s old files hidden in the ceiling before. In episode 11, we saw the father pull out files from the ceiling again. This time, the reports were written by Jerome. When Hyo Kyung had ran into Jerome in the staircase of her father’s office building, he told her he was playing baduk there. In actuality, he met with her father about his TH5 research and that is how he had his reports in the ceiling. I think Jerome gave them to her father for safekeeping and perhaps, he also asked her father to assist with the trial when the time is right. With the bad guys currently at power, he knows exposing them right now is pointless. At the moment, it looks like Jerome is setting up a trap for them.

OCN released new stills of Cha Joo Young and Lee Hee Joon ahead of the upcoming episode of “Chimera.”

“Chimera” is a mystery thriller about a violent crimes detective named Cha Jae Hwan (Park Hae Soo), a criminal profiler named Eugene Hathaway (Claudia Kim), and a surgeon named Lee Joong Yeob (Lee Hee Joon), who each for their own reasons seeks the truth behind a serial murder by explosion case from 35 years ago that has recently begun again.

Spoilers

In the new stills, Lee Joong Yeob is being chased through the streets by some unknown men. Kim Hyo Kyung (Cha Joo Young) searches for him on the streets, and is shocked and emotional when she finds him. Although he’s running for his life, he also pauses to exchange a complicated, emotional, and painful look with her before he takes off again.

In the previous episode, Lee Joob Yeob realized that he was the target of a murderous conspiracy by Seo Ryun Group and hid out in Cha Jae Hwan’s house. He grew suspicious of Cha Eun Soo (Nam Gi Ae), who had started acting differently from before, and discovered a notebook with “1984” written on it. After reading the notes with names like Han Soo Seok (Kang Shin Il) and Ryu Sung Hee, he realized that Cha Eun Soo was the “Chimera” from 35 years ago. Meanwhile, Kim Hyo Kyung is now aware of the fact that Lee Joong Yeob is her biological older brother.

How will Kim Hyo Kyung and Lee Joong Yeob deal with their newfound knowledge? Can Lee Joong Yeob escape the deadly conspiracy that surrounds him and reveal the truth behind his father’s unjust death?

  • larus changed the title to [ Current Drama 2021] Chimera, 키마이라-Saturday & Sunday @22:30 KST

The Chimera' Lee Hee-jun found out the identity of the Chimera, whom he had been looking for so much.

optimize

In the 13th episode of the OCN Saturday drama 'Chimaira', which was aired at 10:30 pm on the December11th, Lee Jung-yeop (Lee Hee-jun), who escaped, struggles with the search team with various techniques like a former special forces force, such as rubbing mud all over his body to remove body odor.

Lee Jung-yeop, who was driven as an armed fugitive, managed to head to the terminal, and quickly sent a concert ticket to Eugene (Soo-hyun), then hid in the luggage compartment of the bus, giving an overwhelming sense of immersion in an unpredictable chase.

Bae Seung-gwan (Woo-hyeon), who received a report that the escaped Lee Joong-yeop had a bomb, rebuked Koh Gwang-soo (Heo Jun-seok), stingingly warning him to take care of his teammates. In response, Koh Gwang-soo requested that the disbandment of the investigation headquarters be postponed because this was not the fault of the team members, but the responsibility of the prosecution, who officially took over the case.

Kim Hyo-kyung (Cha Joo-young), who heard the information from a senior at the news agency, went straight to Cha Jae-hwan (Park Hae-soo) and told him that the prosecutors who escorted Lee Jung-yeop were in the VIP room of Seoryun Hospital. In addition, the 'Chimaira' case 35 years ago is not a simple serial murder case, but a complicated case involving the manipulation of research results of 'TH-5', a disinfectant ingredient led by Seoryun Group Chairman Seo Hyun-tae (Ki-young Lee), and the application of an illegal patent. I was sure that the person who made the set was the Seoryun group.

At the words of Hyo-kyung Kim that Seoryun Group is trying to kill Lee Sang-woo and Ryu Seong-hee, as well as Lee Jung-yeop, Cha Jae-hwan could not hide his complicated feelings. Then, when asked by Cha Jae-hwan why he was so worried about Lee Jung-yeop, Kim Hyo-kyung said, "I am the daughter of a murderer," and she confessed that she is the real daughter of Lee Sang-woo, who died 35 years ago, and that she is Lee Jung-yeop's younger sister.

After barely arriving in Seoul, Lee Jung-yeop, who met Eugene at the concert hall, confronted Cha Jae-hwan, who suddenly came, and finally brought Cha Jae-hwan's gun, which was aimed at him, to his chest, pulled the trigger, and caused a suffocating tension.

The three of them were relieved to find out that there were no bullets in the pistol Cha Jae-hwan hit, and after a fierce confrontation, the three headed to Cha Jae-hwan's house. Cha Jae-hwan was at a loss as to whether or not to let Kim Hyo-kyung know that Lee Jung-yeop's younger sister was. After that, Lee Jung-yeop, who was sleeping at Cha Jae-hwan's house, woke up to a sharp sound and saw Cha Eun-soo (Nam Ki-ae) somewhere different from before.

Lee Jung-yeop, who was sending Cha Eun-soo away saying that he should go to Hannam University in a hurry, and was cleaning up scattered glass fragments, found a notebook with the word '1984' written on it in Cha Eun-soo's room. Lee Jung-yeop, who was quickly reading the memorandum with the names of Han Joo-seok (Kang Shin-il) and Ryu Seong-hee, eventually found out that Cha Eun-soo was a Chimera, and vomited anger, making the viewers shiver.

Reporter girl wow.

My mind is officially blown!  But it makes sense since she is avenging her father's three police killers, after hearing she was the doctor's sister all I thought about was that, how he would find out the 'happy' news.  So I didn't even think it might be her and she probably thinks the police chief is the one who had her brother shot as well.

I do not understand why its ratings aren't through the roof this drama is excellent in so many ways.  How do I make it a week till the last two episodes???

The end of ep 14 was great! Loved how past and present Chimeras were revealed at the same time. I found myself not really surprised by the revelations, but more engrossed with the main characters relationships – especially Jerome and Jae Hwan’s friendship. Despite Jerome confirming Jae Hwan’s mother is Chimera, he still wants to protect Jae Hwan and asked Hyo Kyung to not reveal the truth yet. It goes to show how much he regards Jae Hwan as a true friend. I love how the writing did not fail to highlight humanity and compassion in the twist and turns of the mystery/thriller storytelling. I am still fearing a tragic end for Jerome though. Not matter what happens, I am at least glad he seems comforted to have friends who believe in him.

At first, I wasn’t buying into the survival of Jerome’s unborn sibling and that it could be Jae Hwan. However, the miracle and fact that the sibling is Hyo Kyung makes a lot of sense for the plot and MO. Brilliant. I like how the siblings differ in their quest for justice. In the beginning, Jerome was introduced as the likely Chimera suspect, yet it’s been quite clear his main goal is to clear his father’s name. He doesn't have the intention to hurt/kill anyone, including the bad guys. Whereas it turns out his sibling is Chimera and is the opposite. Justice for her is revenge and to avenge.

I have to say...I’m really impressed by everyone's acting. In the latest pair of episodes, I thought the actors/actresses portrayal of Chief Bae, Hyo Kyung and Cha Eun Soo/Ryu Sung Hee were on point. Of course, Lee Hee Joon continues to amaze me. He deserves an award for his performance as Jerome. I saw that he’ll be in the upcoming drama, When the Day Breaks, but as a support role. I'll be watching it, but I really hope we’ll see him in more main roles.

If anyone hasn't watched Lee Hee Joon in 'My Husband Got a Family' I highly recommend it.  It was made in 2012 and on viki gets a 10 rating and I have to say I give it a 10 as well.  Good plot, very good script, excellent cast and Lee Hee Joon's character is just superb.  Fell in love with him in that one, he made me smile every time he was on the screen, a very funny warm and wonderful character that he filled perfectly.
