Mar 3, 2021
by L. Kim

JTBC’s new drama “Law School” (working title) has released its first stills of Ryu Hye Young!

“Law School” is about the students and professors of South Korea’s top law school who get caught up in an unusual case. It will star Kim Myung Min, Ryu Hye Young, Kim Bum, and Lee Jung Eun.

In the drama, Ryu Hye Young will play Kang Sol, a first-year law student who overcame poverty and misfortune in childhood to gain special admission to the law school. She walks a path of thorns due to the constant sense of deprivation and shame compared to the wealth and talent around her, but her passion will teach her the truth about what it means to be a lawyer.

In particular, Kang Sol had a rough childhood and learned that the law was on the side of intelligent people and not the weak or the strong. She is in a position where she has to protect her family, and she managed to get accepted into the law school with her persistence and determination to make law on her side. Kang Sol arrives on campus with high expectations, but harsh and critical professor Yang Jong Hoon (Kim Myung Min) will crush her bed of roses.

In the new stills, Kang Sol attempts to survive law school that is teeming with intelligent students and strict professors. She looks flustered by her assignments and exams, but she doesn’t give up, which hints her indomitable will to achieve her nearly-impossible goal. It will be intriguing to see her growth as she experiences many unexpected difficulties and results in the legal world.

This is Ryu Hye Young’s return to the small screen after two years. She will flawlessly synchronize with her new character Kang Sol and portray the character’s smart and passionate sides. The production team shared, “With her unique grit and lively energy, Ryu Hye Young breathed life into the hard-working character Kang Sol. Please keep an eye on her tearful growth period as she becomes an increasingly good lawyer through ‘problematic professor’ Yang Jong Hoon.”

Law School’ Lee Jung-eun’s first still-cut was revealed. She, who tried to change her various characters, wore the clothes of an elite professor that radiates intellectual charisma this time.

She contradicts Yang Jong-hoon (Kim Myung-min), a “problematic professor,” who fears students, in many ways, but in fact, she is the motive that she shared with him from college to judicial training institutes. She seems to be able to guess her heart with just the look of her eyes even if she doesn't talk long words. As long as she has been together, there are many parts that understand and know each other. As a colleague who has watched his actions for a long time, she respects him for consistently adhering to righteous principles and a sense of mission, but as a friend, who is going to become a member of Jong-hoon, who will be caught in an unknown incident that she feels sorry for him who walks in a lonely life alone The ear is attention.

The production crew said, “The famous actor Lee Jung-eun, who had a strong presence in each work with high-density acting, turned into a civil law professor with a clear understanding of understanding, and created an unprecedented'Lee Jeong-eun-pyo' character that can feel both intellectual charisma and human beauty. We ask for your interest in the first broadcast of “Law School,” which will create a perfect synergy through unparalleled teamwork with director Kim Seok-yoon.

“Law School” is about the students and professors of South Korea’s top law school who get caught up in an unusual case.

The main poster features the ten lead characters who will be played by Kim Myung Min, Kim Bum, Ryu Hye Young, Lee Jung Eun, Lee Soo Kyung, David Lee, Go Yoon Jung, Hyun Woo, Gil Hae Yeon, and Oh Man Seok.

The students of the law school come from diverse backgrounds. Han Joon Hwi (Kim Bum) entered the school with top grades and a brilliant reputation. There are two students with the same name who are very different from each other. Kang Sol A (Ryu Hye Young) is a first-year law student who overcame poverty and misfortune in childhood to gain special admission to the law school, whereas Kang Sol B (Lee Soo Kyung) was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Seo Ji Ho’s (David Lee’s) family suddenly went under, and he thinks of law school as an opportunity to raise his status. Jeon Ye Seol (Go Yoon Jung) is a gorgeous student who is always loved by people, and Yoo Seung Jae (Hyun Woo) is a doctor-turned-law-student.

David Lee, Lee Soo Kyung, And More Are Law Students With Different Goals And Backgrounds In Upcoming Drama “Law School”

Upcoming JTBC drama “Law School” has shared a first glimpse of David Lee, Lee Soo Kyung, Go Yoon Jung, and Hyun Woo!

“Law School” is about the students and professors of South Korea’s top law school who get caught up in an unusual case.

On March 11, the drama released new stills of four students with different keywords: escape, success, love, and challenge.

First off, Kang Sol B (Lee Soo Kyung) was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She comes from a family of judges, and she has maintained first place with top grades, thanks to customized tutoring set up by her mother. She has always received all “As” on her report card, so she’s annoyed when she gets a “B” next to her name because of Kang Sol A (Ryu Hye Young). Her goal is to “escape” her helicopter mother who takes too much interest in everything she does. She believes the only way to do that is to become a judge, which is why she worked hard to enter law school. However, in the photo, she looks uninterested in what’s going on and focuses only on her tablet, which hints she’s a “lawciopath” (a word formed by combining “law school” and “sociopath.”) who only cares about her goal.

lee-soo-kyung.jpg

Seo Ji Ho (David Lee) dreams of “success” after his family suddenly went under. He entered law school in order to live more leisurely, and his ultimate goal is to become a lawyer for a large law firm who makes a lot of money. He is quick to calculate gains and losses, so he only chooses whatever is an advantage to him. He doesn’t waste time on unnecessary things and only makes friends who will benefit him in the long run. In the photo, his eyes are blazing with confidence and determination, and it will be intriguing to find out how far he will go to achieve his purpose.

Then there’s Jeon Ye Seol (Go Yoon Jung), a gorgeous student who graduated from a prestigious university. She has a lively personality and enjoys the attention people give her. Her keyword “love” describes her reason for applying to law school. She applied with her boyfriend who wanted to study law, but unfortunately, she passed the exam on her own. The new still shows her looking bored by the lecture, and it further depicts her goal isn’t to study law but to go to the same school with her boyfriend.

Spoiler

Last but not least is Yoo Seung Jae (Hyun Woo), a former doctor who begins to study law. While learning how to deal with social order, he feels a sense of despair he has never experienced before. This is because even for someone who went to medical school like him, he finds the logic and will needed in law school “challenging.” He tries to not fall behind his younger colleagues, and he silently endures the burden and stress of studying. The new photo depicts his silent desire to do well in law school.

Honestly, I feel like this cast could hold up a mediocre script(knock on wood!). I was thrilled to see Lee David in this drama when the 2nd poster came out. And it's nice to see Lee Chun Hee after a long time. Like @jongski, I'm also excited for Undercover (Jin Jin Hee plus Kim Hyun Joo...enough said). Jtbc is on a roll with these casts/dramas.

Oh Man-Seok will appear in JTBC's'Law School'... Transformed into law school vice president and constitutional professor

Man-seok Oh is expected to add a deeper sense of weight to the work by playing the role of Kang Joo-man, a law school vice president and constitutional professor in “Law School”. Kang Joo-man is the only person in the family of legal professions to take the position of a law school professor after failing to pass the bar exam, and is expected to create tension throughout the play by colliding with professor Kim Myung-min (as Yang Jong-hoon), a professor with a different propensity. Man-seok Oh, who was resentful only by Kang Ju, is expected to present a breathtaking immersion to the home theater by depicting the complex psychology of a character caught up in a mysterious incident that took place in law school with his unrivaled performance.

JTBC’s “Law School” has released new teasers!

“Law School” is a campus mystery that follows the story of students and professors of South Korea’s top law school who get caught up in an unusual case.

A new batch of teasers feature photos of Kim Myung Min and Kim Bum. Kim Myung Min stars as former elite detective and current criminal law professor Yang Jong Hoon. Regarding his character’s charms, Kim Myung Min shared, “He doesn’t pay attention to others and makes harsh remarks without hesitation so he’s known on campus as ‘Yang-crates of Horror.’ However, he’s just poor at expressing himself; I felt how sincerely he wants to make sure his students do not become vicious lawyers. He has passion and a warm heart.”

Kim-Myung-Min-2.jpeg

In many of his previous roles, Kim Myung Min has portrayed doctors, lawyers, and professors, earning him the nickname of “pro professional worker.” When asked what made “Law School” stand out to him, the actor answered, “The background of a law school that nurtures future lawyers felt novel.”

He continued, “When you watch the professors’ classes and the students’ debates, you can see how they use detail to elaborately handle issues everyone has dealt with in real life. That’s why I think it’ll become a high class drama that makes you think about what law and justice truly mean.”

Lastly, Kim Myung Min picked the drama’s highlight points. He commented, “Professor Yang, who is tough but has a hidden warm side, his students who all flaunt their individuality, and the journey of solving all the happenings at law school.” He added, “Since it’s a project that aims to realistically reflect reality, I believe that everyone will be able to relate more and more with each episode. There’s just that much to see and there’s a lot to look forward to from director Kim Seok Yoon so I hope everyone watches enjoyably.”

The drama also stars Kim Bum as first-year law school student Han Joon Hwi who is at the top of his class. Han Joon Hwi is virtually perfect, with his good looks and incredible academic background, having passed exams for both the bar and the Korean National Police University.

However, he’s different from other extremely studious law students who only focus on school. Kim Bum explained, “He relates to the hurt and the concerns of his peers and has the leadership to help solve and overcome various conflicts altogether.”

Kim-Bum-2.jpeg

Kim Bum spoke about his first day filming a scene in Kim Myung Min’s lecture, sharing, “All the actors came about an hour and a half earlier than planned in order to prepare. As a result, I remember we started after we were able to rehearse multiple times as if we were really in the class.”

Kim Bum also discussed what an honor it was to work with Kim Myung Min and director Kim Seok Yoon. He shared, “They were both always serious and passionate so they became examples for everyone on set and always made the atmosphere better. It was a set that helped me feel the preciousness of learning in each and every moment.”

For his personal highlight point, Kim Bum shared, “With the setting of a school where people study law, ‘Law School’ tells the transformative story of the different scenarios people experience and how they turn that into growth.”

JTBC’s new Wed-Thurs drama Law School (written by Seo In, directed by Kim Seok Yoon) is a mystery drama that unfolds on campus as Korea’s top law school professors and students get involved in extraordinary cases. It depicts the process of lawyers-to-be students realizing what law and justice truly mean as they survive through a bloodstained law school.

In the posters released on the 17th, Kim Myung Min, Kim Bum, Ryu Hye Young, Lee Jung Eun, Lee Soo Kyung, Lee David, Go Yoon Jung, and Hyun Woo were seen to have their poker faces on. They seemed to hint at a mysterious case with an atmosphere where the good and the evil coexists.

The ambivalence of these key figures can be further seen through the teaser video which was released on the same day. The significant relationship between professors and students has amplified the mysterious mood of the show. As figures are revealed to be overlapping with each other as silhouettes on the posters, they together complete one big photo.

The secrets hidden amongst them, their connection to the unprecedented event, and the mystery behind their poker faces are to be revealed at JTBC’s Law School. It is to kick off at 9 p.m. KST on the 14th of April, following the end of Sisyphus: The Myth.
