Story:

 

Jang Ki Yong will take on the dual roles of lone wolf Gong Ji Chul in 1986 and medical student Chun Jong Bum in 2020. Lee Soo Hyuk will play both the pure-hearted detective Cha Hyung Bin in 1986 and the objective prosecutor Kim Soo Hyuk in 20 . “Born Again” is a mystery melodrama about two men and a woman whose fates become entwined through a dramatic incident in the 1980s. KBS’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Born Again” is getting ready to begin!

“Born Again” will be a mystery melodrama that follows the story of three people and the fate that ties them together across two separate lives through reincarnation.

The drama recently held a script reading for the drama that was attended by director Jin Hyung Wook, screenwriter Jung Soo Mi, and cast members Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, Lee Soo Hyuk, Kim Jung Nan, Choi Kwang Il, Jung In Gyeom, Jang Won Young, and more.

Moon Bo Hyun, the head of KBS’s drama center, stated, “This will be KBS’s first Monday-Tuesday drama in approximately four months. I have high expectations with such a great cast. I hope everyone is able to create great memories through this project.”

As the script reading started, the atmosphere turned more serious as the actors fell into their roles. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk will all play two different characters across two separate lives, and they had great chemistry from the start. Kim Jung Nan perfectly played a provocative and dangerous woman, while Choi Kwang Il had a commanding presence. Jung In Gyeom added more mystery to the story as an evil figure, while Jang Won Young made everyone laugh with his comical acting.

The production staff of “Born Again” stated, “The script reading was overflowing with passion and energy as the lead actors gathered. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, Lee Soo Hyuk, and everyone did their best to create moments you couldn’t take your eyes off of,” and “We are currently busy filming the drama so please anticipate it.”

KBS Drama “Born Again” is just a month away from its premiere!

The mystery melodrama follows the story of three people and the fate that ties them together across two separate lives through reincarnation.

1. Reincarnation

“Born Again” begins on the premise that “spirits can be reborn” and deals with the topic of reincarnation that is effected by past karma.

KBS2’s upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama “Born Again” is a reincarnation drama about a detective, the detective’s lover, and a serial killer who loved the detective’s lover. Their lives ended 32 years ago but their fates become entangled again when they are reincarnated into new lives. The drama stars Jang Ki Yong, Lee Soo Hyuk, and Jin Se Yeon.

Playing dual roles, Jang Ki Yong is Gong Ji Chul in the 1980s, while in 2020, Jang Ki Yong is the elite medical student Chun Jong Bum.

The newly released stills show Jang Ki Yong as the lone wolf Gong Ji Chul, who refuses to share the fate of his purely evil father. The scar below his left eye raises questions as to what kinds of events he has experienced in his life. In one image, Jang Ki Yong is inside the secondhand bookstore Old Future. It will be interesting to see what brings him to the bookstore and how he is connected to its owner Jung Ha Eun (played by Jin Se Yeon).

KBS2’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Born Again” has shared its first stills of Jin Se Yeon!

“Born Again” is a reincarnation drama about a detective, the detective’s lover, and a serial killer who loved the detective’s lover. Their lives ended 32 years ago but their fates become entangled again when they are reincarnated into new lives. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk will all be playing two different characters each across two separate lives,

Jin Se Yeon will be playing the roles of Jung Ha Eun in the 1980s and Jung Sa Bin in the present. The new stills feature Jung Ha Eun, owner of the secondhand bookstore The Old Future, who suffers from dilated cardiomyopathy (a condition that causes the heart chambers to be enlarged and unable to pump blood effectively due to weakened heart muscle).

The pictures give off a retro vibe as Jung Ha Eun is surrounded by tightly stacked books, a lamp, a teapot, and a basket filled with fruit. While listening to a red radio cassette player, Jung Ha Eun is writing something down. Looking lost in thought, her gaze makes viewers reminisce of their first loves.

In another photo, Jung Ha Eun is standing beneath the bookstore’s sign while holding a yellow umbrella as snow falls from the sky. The sign that reads “The Old Future” seems somewhat befitting of the theme of reincarnation in the drama. Furthermore, Jung Ha Eun is staring to her side, drawing curiosity on if she’s waiting for something.

The production team shared, “Jin Se Yeon suits the 1980s analog vibe very well. In the drama, Jung Ha Eun will have a very different feel from the present life character Jung Sa Bin. With dual roles that are different for each generation, viewers will be able to feel a new charm, so please look forward to it.”

Described as a “mystery melodrama about reincarnation,” “Born Again” will tell the story of three people and their intertwined fates, which remain interconnected even as they lead new lives after being reincarnated. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk will each be taking on two different roles in the drama.

Lee Soo Hyuk’s first character will be the pure-hearted detective Cha Hyung Bin from the 1980s, while his second will be Cha Hyung Bin’s modern-day reincarnation: the cool-headed prosecutor Kim Soo Hyuk.

On March 12, the upcoming drama unveiled a sneak peek of Lee Soo Hyuk in the first of his dual roles. Other photos show the character poring over a crime scene with a determined frown, piquing viewers’ curiosity as to what evidence might have captured his attention.

Jang Ki Yong shared, “The atmosphere at the site is full of energy. Both the director and the writer lead with passion, and so do the actors. In particular, the production team is paying more attention to the scenes from the ’80s.”

The new drama is set to premiere at 10 p.m. KST on April 20 and will be a mystery melodrama that follows three people whose lives are intertwined across two lifespans.

The first teaser shows a man walking through a snowy white field in the 1980s, along with Jin Se Yeon smiling warmly. She takes on the roles of Jung Ha Eun in the past and Jung Sa Bin in the present. 30 years pass, and Jang Ki Yong and Lee Soo Hyuk are seen in the present day. Jang Ki Yong plays the long-haired Gong Ji Cheol in the past elite medical student Cheon Jong Beom in the present, while Lee Soo Hyuk goes from detective Cha Hyung Bin in the past to cold prosecutor Kim Soo Hyuk in the present.

The narration in the teaser also elicit curiosity as Jang Ki Yong says, “Everyone has fateful timing. And when that moment comes.” Jin Se Yeon continues, “Someone discovers me,” and Lee Soo Hyuk says, “And I discover them.” The three actors reciting one sentence between them reflects how their characters’ stories will be interconnected.

“Born Again” is a reincarnation drama about a detective, the detective’s lover, and a serial killer who loved the detective’s lover. Their lives ended 32 years ago, but their fates become entangled again when they are reincarnated into new lives. Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk will all be playing two different characters each across two separate lives.

In the latest stills, Jang Ki Yong, Jin Se Yeon, and Lee Soo Hyuk can be seen standing in the snow. Jang Ki Yong, who plays elite medical student Cheon Jong Beom in the present, is sitting inside a bookstore with a faraway gaze as if he’s recalling a memory. In another photo, he gazes up at the falling snow with a hand stretched out, exuding a melancholy yet romantic vibe.

Jin Se Yeon, who takes on the role of a bone archaeologist named Jung Sa Bin in the present, watches the snow falling with a delightful smile on her face and a warm cup of coffee in her hand. On the other hand, Lee Soo Hyuk, who acts as prosecutor Kim Soo Hyuk in the present, coolly passes by the bookstore after receiving a call about a case and does not seem to have much interest in the snow.

The three characters are still connected in the present by fateful coincidence. Cheon Jong Beom extends his hand out in the exact same place Jung Sa Bin was standing before. Meanwhile, Jung Sa Bin can be seen behind Kim Soo Hyuk as she walks in the opposite direction.

In the 1980s, Jung Sa Bin was bookstore owner Jung Ha Eun, Cheon Jong Beom was a lone wolf named Gong Ji Cheol, and Kim Soo Hyuk was detective Cha Hyung Bin. Viewers are already anticipating the fateful events they will experience in the present.

“Born Again” will be a mystery melodrama that follows three people whose lives are intertwined across two lifespans.

The second teaser gives a glimpse into a mysterious case that connects the three souls in the 1980s and the present day. In the present, Jang Ki Yong, who plays both Gong Ji Cheol and Cheon Jong Beom, steps up to help Jin Se Yeon, who plays Jung Hae Eun and Jung Sa Bin, tie red ribbons on a tree. Meanwhile, Lee Soo Hyuk, playing Cha Hyung Bin and Kim Soo Hyuk, holds onto Jin Se Yeon’s hand in the 1980s and says, “I will protect you till the end.”

There is an overlap of Jang Ki Yong and Lee Soo Hyuk bumping into each other in both the 1980s and the present, and the music turns slightly sinister as a series of tense images flash across the screen. The teaser ends with Jin Se Yeon’s voice saying, “20 years later, 30 years later, I will still miss you,” making viewers curious to know who she is talking about.

Jang Ki Yong talked about his new roles in the new KBS drama “Born Again.”

“Born Again” will be a mystery melodrama that follows three people whose lives are intertwined across two lifespans. Playing dual roles, Jang Ki Yong is lone wolf Gong Ji Cheol in the 1980s, while in 2020, Jang Ki Yong is the elite medical student Cheon Jong Beom.

Jang Ki Yong shared his reason for joining the drama. He said, “The script was really interesting. The characters, as well as the story itself, seemed very unique and attractive. Not a single character is ordinary.”

He continued, “In addition, the new challenge of double roles was tempting. I might seem a little unfamiliar at first, but I’m looking forward to showing something different from the roles I’ve played so far.”

Then Jang Ki Yong commented, “I wanted to challenge myself to play a double role so that I can show the various sides of myself in acting. Gong Ji Cheol of the ’80s is a lonely and solitary person. On the other hand, Cheon Jong Beom is an elite medical student who is full of passion. I tried to change the way I speak, the look in my eyes, and my appearance because I was playing two completely different characters.”
