Fighting injustice with furious fists in The Fiery Priest 2

Five years after SBS’s The Fiery Priest brought hot-blooded justice and slapstick hilarity to our screens, the action-comedy is back for a second season of crime-fighting. With most of our original team regrouping, the twelve-episode sequel is poised to rekindle fond memories while forging ahead into new territory, as headstrong as ever.

Kim Nam-gil (Song of the Bandits) stars once again as the quick-tempered Catholic priest Kim Hae-il, whose fists fly faster than one can say “Amen.” With a traumatic past from his ex-NIS agent days, Hae-il is driven by anger, redemption, and an unwavering moral compass. Reprising her role, Honey Lee (Knight Flower) has Hae-il’s back as the brazenly ambitious prosecutor Park Kyung-seon, who won’t hesitate to mow down anything and anyone that stands in her way.

To round out our main trio, Kim Sung-kyun (Moving) is ready to cuff more baddies as the violent crimes detective Gu Dae-young. From a bumbling pushover to a fully-fledged fighter, the once-timid Dae-young has come a long way, cementing himself as a dependable partner to Hae-il. While it’s a pity Geum Sae-rok (Soundtrack #2) won’t be returning, we have a new officer on the block to fill her shoes. BIBI (The Worst of Evil) will join our team as Gu Ja-young, a Busan cop in an underappreciated drugs team — and judging by her name, it seems like justice runs in the Gu family veins.

As for our villains, it’s an Island reunion with Sung Joon (Call It Love) and our hero crossing blades yet again. After climbing up the ranks of the Laos cartel he’d been sold to as an orphan child, the drug king Kim Hong-shik has his sights on Busan as the next stage of his operation. He’s already joined hands with the corrupt prosecutor Nam Doo-heon, played by Seo Hyun-woo (A Shop For Killers), whose lack of scruples has earned him no shortage of promotions by his equally immoral superiors. Together, their insatiable greed will pose a whole new threat to our heroes. Hopefully we’ll get some cameos from Season 1’s cast, too — I’ll certainly be overjoyed to see our cinnamon roll priest Jeon Sung-woo (Goodbye Earth) reunite with his favorite hyung.

Helmed by PD Park Bo-ram (Through the Darkness) and scriptwriter Park Jae-beom (Vincenzo), the duo behind the first season, The Fiery Priest 2 is slated for an October 18 premiere.

Actor Kim Nam-gil personally announced the start of filming for the new SBS drama ‘The Fierce Priest 2’.

Kim Nam-gil released a photo on the 1st, in which he is seen wearing a priest's uniform. The sight of the back passing in front of the statue of Maria excites fans.

Previously, on the 24th of last month, SBS raised fans' expectations by announcing that 'The Fierce Priest 2' (written by Jay Park, directed by Park Bo-ram) would be aired in the second half of the year.

‘The Fierce Priest 2’ is an ‘extreme cooperation, Noppagu comic investigation drama’ that tells the story of Kim Hae-il, a passionate priest with a still hot-tempered personality and a burning sense of justice, who heads to Busan in pursuit of a drug case that occurred in Gudam-gu.
