She's just protecting her hometown YanBei. From the preview, it looks like MF send out the letter first, CQ caught it. What I don't get is, why does YWY want to set fire first? cenching
@Melda Hung, the title KungZhe is used to address someone noble, can be translated Young Master, Prince, etc etc. So if the intercepted letter was addresses to KungZhe of course the faked one has to be the same. Usually they addressed YWY as Yue KungZhe, YWH as Huai KungZhe. But I really hope XE didn't know MF is part of YWY's organization....

Being a visionary, YWY definitely is sure its YX who sent his men over and he desired to let those who choose to be his enemies know that he is in the picture and he's not just any combatant.

vikachuu10
Am I only one left who doesn't hate CQ? I get that she's very cold and distant especially towards the guys who like her, but she already makes it clear that she doesn't feel the same. It does irritate me that she never thanks them properly despite how much they help her. However, they are still the nobles who she hates for being ignorant about slavery and the lives of those with lower social classes. She doesn't directly hate them, but her goal isn't to love and to build friendships; it's to demonish slavery and that's all she thinks about. Maybe she does think about romance in the beginning, but we all know what happened with her almost first love . With YWY, back in the days, she almost falls for him, then the next moment the dumb grandfather makes her think YWY is using her as a sacrifice. It hurts her too much and causes her to develop mistrust and misunderstandings for YWY. They aren't cleared until 30 episodes later and during this time period all she sees is him betraying her and plotting against her. She doesn't know that he has been helping her from behind, so how is she to be thankful toward him ? (ALSO, I DON'T THINK SHE KNOWS IT WASN'T YWY WHO SHOT YX WHICH RESULTS IN YX AND CQ TO BE CAPTURED AND IMPRISONED, CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG .) When they finally make up with each other, it is already too late for her to return to his side. She can't go back to Chang'An and she can't abandon her chosen nation during the war. It's not YWY that she's fighting against, she's going against Western Wei. Next up is YS. CQ also does not show strong positive emotions towards this Prince. This, she already explained. She already tells him she knows from the beginning that they are destined to be on opposite sides. He is the Royal Prince of the very place she despises and wishes to go against. She knows he's innocent and naive, but any relationship she builds with him will end up tragically . She's so cold to him so she can push him away from her and avoid forming a friendship with him. *Notice that she is exactly the same with YX until he says he wants to go back to Yanbei to rebel.* With YX, although she is supposed to fall in love with him, I feel like their relationship (romantically) is extremely weak. He loves her way more than she "loves" him, and she shows little to no affection towards him. I've always been confused about this, does she love him or does she not? I feel like she just doesn't... but she is supposed to because the book and all of the synopsises I've read said she does. I don't know, someone needs to give me some proof of her love for YX, I don't see it. I only think that she follows him because they have a common goal and she wants to take care of him because she feels angry about what he experiences. ... But, I do agree with that she lacks development (she's been strong, confident and independent since the beginning till now, not a change in character at all?), and as a YWYxCQ shipper, I wish they has less misunderstandings and more moments together. When I strongly state that this isn't a romance drama, I'm really just saying that to defend our main character from the hate she's getting (YOU PROBABLY CAN TELL I LOVE HER). But I'm a bit confused how and when did CQ start to develop feeling for him? Initially, when she was his servant, she started to have feeling for him. Until she overheard Mr. Grandpa's conversation to let her die, she misunderstood that was YWY's direction as well, so she felt heartbroken. She killed Yuewen Xi and they both fight at the rooftop shown that she was truly disappointed/ heartbroken and wanted to part away from him. Then, she promised YX to go back to Yanbei with him, all the things happend at JiuYouTai and YWY made her to die fakely (but she did not reliase that he was trying to save her). All of these happened made CQ hate YWY deeper and deeper. How and when CQ started to get back the feelings for YWY? I would say she started to get that feeling back when YWY told her because of her, he was not going to the emperor with the truth that she and YX's people were the ones behind vandalizing the royal vault(?). You can see she was flustered and taken aback and kicked the man that was on the ground to distract attention away from herself. She still acted stubborn around him since he's still the enemy and they still needed to pull one over him if they wanted to get out of a Chang An. After she got out of Chang An, then she could be less confrontational and more open when she was with him, which lead to the events that lead to her taking a poison dart for him and him finding the antidote for her and then the kiss (can you hear my sighing longingly from recalling it?). Now that she's back in Yenbei, they are back to being enemies. See why they have to find a neutral territory in order for their love to flourish? That will be Qing Hai if it goes according to the book. Did I get any detail wrong? Feel free to correct me.

taeunfighting
The slightest second I get frustrated with the development of the lovelines, I remind myself that the premise of this drama is about war and how it has formed complicated relationships between the characters. With regards to YWY and CQ, I have been very satisfied with the portrayal of their relationship from the beginning until now. My opinion is that I do believe that they love each other, but both have duties to their own country/people and in reality they are considered "enemies", it does not make sense for them to be together at this point of the drama. As CQ said to YWY, she "cannot be reckless" and the many times that YWY helped CQ, they were done is disguise. It's true there are not that many episodes left, but I do think there are still many turning points of the story yet to come in the near episodes. I do not think YWY's efforts to help/save CQ will go to waste. Let's also remember that CQ took a hit from MF's needle meant for YWY so I do not not think YWY's feelings are all one-sided. I guess when people say love is patient, the story between YWY and CQ would be a good example.
yueyyo
For the record, I still have both feet on the YueXing ship and waiting for the YueIcylake ship to come by soon. However, watching episode 59 with subtitle made me understand why some might want to throw QC in a frozen lake and hopefully she'll wake up from her coma. I was blissfully ignorant when I watched the scene with her riding the horse while YX was playing that flute since I figured she was probably speaking her thoughts about YX and YB and the people but then I rewatched it with English subtitle to make sure I understood it correctly, I got a lot more than that. She was thanking him for his friendship and appreciating him coming back for her? I skipped the other episodes so I don't know for sure but did she ever address the issue of why he abandoned that city in the first place so that her troop had to defend it by themselves? Did she point out to him the errors of his way? What kind of an advisor is she? she is so arrogant but she has a low sense of self worth when she's with YX. Shouldn't he be thanking her for helping to get him back to YanBei alive? Among other things, if she didn't use XC to lead the seventh prince's army away so they can't protect Chang An, they would have had a tough time getting out of there. While we are at it, if she knows the guy close to YX is often up to no good, shouldn't she get busy putting somebody to spy on him to see what he is up to next so she can pre-empt any bloodshed? Will she never learn? How about get cracking on finding out who she really is now that she's back in Yanbei? Any person with common sense would want to find out first thing about their origin. I can go on and on but I won't torture you guys any more with my rant. I don't like QC but I still love XE since YWY loves XE.

Popular Post rampantwolfhound
2 hours ago, vikachuu10 said: Am I only one left who doesn't hate CQ? No, you’re not the only one; truth be told, I’ve been writing up a defense of CQ for awhile now and have been trying to decide whether to post it or not. I probably shouldn't post this over-long essay, but engaging in late-night, overwrought character analysis is one of my favorite pastimes. To be honest, I’ve always been drawn to characters like CQ, so I was always going to like her to begin with. While some of my conclusions about her motivations differ from yours (as is so often the case when fans try to analyze characters while bringing their own perceptions, values, circumstances, etc. to the table), I wish I could give you more than one like for taking CQ’s side. So I’ll do my best to explain how I see CQ, her code, and the reasons behind her decision-making. For starters, I’ve never seen CQ as some sort of revolutionary freedom fighter, summary of the series notwithstanding. When we first meet her, she bonds with a girl named Curly solely because Curly gives her a scrap of bread, smiles at her, and says some nice things to her. In exchange, CQ is willing to risk her life in order to save Curly on the hunting grounds. This is CQ through and through, pretty much. True, she can be reckless and impulsive in ways that can bring harm to others, but she’s also willing to jump into a fight on behalf of someone else without a moment’s hesitation even when she doesn’t really have much of a reason to do so. In fact, I would say that her personal code is generally structured as follows: 1) Keep family/friends safe. 2) Keep the innocent safe. 3) Do what’s right. A large portion of her decisions have been made following this code. Why does she join YX’s rebellion? Well, at first, she simply wants to get her sisters and herself out of Wei/Chang’an so that they can be free. That’s it. Then she goes through hell with YX in the prison and on the platform and that shared trauma binds them closely together. He’s even willing to cut off his own finger for her in order to spare her from suffering, which leaves a deep impression on her. And then ZY rescues her from what she perceives as YWY’s attempt on her life, which truly drives home that she has nowhere else to go. So she serves YX in the Oriole Courtyard, surviving poor conditions and nightly assassination attempts. Ultimately she helps YX to rebel because 1) he’s her close friend; 2) he’s innocent (as far as she knows); and 3) because she feels that helping him is the right thing to do for several reasons. While she dreams of living freely in YanBei and finds the current regime in Wei to be deplorable, she doesn’t generally seem to think in widespread terms about enacting serious change in Chang’an outside of taking down the current regime on general principle (and, of course, so they can make it to Yan Bei safely). She admonishes YX and ZY to make sure to not harm any innocents in the rebellion, but she’s not really rebelling for anything other than personal reasons. Why does she go back for the Xiu Lis? Because they are her friends/people for whom she feels responsible. Because they’re innocent to the degree that they don’t deserve to be slaughtered after being so instrumental in YX’s escape. Because helping her men is, according to her code, the right thing to do. And, of course, because she feels that they can provide a solid fighting force for the defense of Yan Bei after she and YX have escaped Chang’an. Why does she stay at HC and defend that city even though she knows for sure that YX is going after Chang’an instead? By her code, defending the place that she’s claimed as her home town—at least ideally—is right to her, as is protecting the innocents who believe in her/them. This is also the place where the family of some of her troops live, so she feels that added layer of responsibility. She also feels a great deal of wrongness about YX being willing to abandon Yan Bei for his vengeance. At this point, I honestly don’t feel that she’s defending the city for YX but for her own sense of rightness. She also doesn’t really stop to think about whether or not she’s qualified to lead because she’s never cared about qualifications and titles before. CQ knows that a thing needs doing, so she just does it to the best of her ability and lets the chips fall where they may. And YWY...YWY. Just as she is able to turn his values/habits upside down, he’s able to do the same for her. She thinks that he’s responsible for a number of her problems, but she still can’t bring herself to kill him after learning of his “betrayals” or to leave him without saying goodbye after he’s gotten her the antidote for the poison to the dart that she took for him. Yet she also can’t bring herself to turn her back on her responsibilities and obligations just to pursue a relationship that might make her happy but that would likely cause her numerous other problems in her life. Where, after all, would they go? He’s a general of Wei, and she’s a traitor to the Wei state. (Well, as much as someone who’s brought into a kingdom as a slave can betray said kingdom.) She knows that he, like her, has a code that generally causes him to put the well-being of others over his own happiness, so she can’t imagine him abandoning everything he believes in at such a critical time. Neither is likely to join the other’s side, and neither is likely to give up or give in. They’re at an impasse, and CQ thus can’t allow herself to give in to what YWY wants of her (although she can’t stop herself from responding). She finds it much easier and more natural to do her best to keep him at arm’s length (as much as you can keep someone at arm’s length who’s kissing you) than to take what he’s offering her. And what is he offering her? Something that she can’t even really comprehend. While CQ is unused to the large-scale horrors of war, she’s become accustomed to living on the ragged edge and fighting for her life against bad odds. Fighting to the death at the head of a rag-tag group of fighters is something that is easier for her to comprehend than the alien concept of settling down to live life with a man who loves her. Even her dream of living in a free Yan Bei was never really fleshed out beyond, “Let’s get to Yan Bei and see what happens.” She’s someone who is good at coming up with a short-term plan on the fly but not so good at envisioning long-term plans and results. Maybe she would be more liable to seriously consider YWY’s position if she were better able to envision it--or to be in a position where it might seem even remotely realistic. To me, CQ is a flawed but ultimately good person who’s trying to do the best that she can with what she has in chaotic times when life is hard and death is easy. She often finds herself in situations in which there are only bad and worse choices, and she rarely has enough information to make the choices that many viewers want her to be able to make. She’s stubborn and overconfident and naive, but she’s also persistent and driven and protective. She’ll guard her people at all costs but will also do her best to help the innocent whenever they are within her sphere of influence. She might help to plan a rebellion that will lead to many innocent deaths, but she’ll also put her own life on the line for as many innocents as she can without a moment’s hesitation. She’ll condemn a regime without understanding the wider political implications of doing so, but she’ll also stand up for a condemned troop of men who want their own shot at redemption. She’ll run away from the one man who could complete her, but she’ll also run towards the responsibilities that weigh down her shoulders. She’ll arrogantly face down her enemies, but she’ll also risk her life to escort to safety two people who have declared themselves to be her enemies because she once considered them to be her friends. She’ll stop at nothing to get what she wants when she wants it, but she’ll also stop her carriage to make sure that some random boy can buy medicine for his mother. She’ll give loyalty to those who are no longer worthy of it, but she’s also seen that love and loyalty are not always tied to worth. She’s selfless in her selfishness, taking what she wants mostly when what she wants involves protecting the ones that she cares for most. She’s chaotic and reckless and impulsive and dangerous, but I love her anyway—and want her to end up with the one man who can balance her chaos with order, her recklessness with deliberation, her impulsiveness with forethought, and her dangerousness with his protectiveness. YWY is by far the best character in this drama, and I care more about his happiness than is healthy in regards to a fictional character. But I’m rooting for CQ, too, to finally find that peace and freedom that’s she’s craved all her life—ironically in the arms of the man who was once her master.
litia
I was convinved that CQ does not intend to capture YWY's scamp. But after reading your comments and considering how the writers have butchered the story, suddenly I am not so sure anymore . I hope the writers would not be so stupid to let CQ deliberately plan to capture and kill his scamp even though she knows it's him. If they choose that route then I will abandon my YueXing ship and curse CQ like hell. Please writers, don't degrade CQ's character anymore!
