 SYNOPSIS 



Im Seung Hee (Lee Young Ah) scribbles her days away in hopes of becoming a drama writer, but there are a few things holding her back from her big break: specifically, she’s broke and lives off of unemployment benefits. Things get tricky when Seung Hee’s first love, Kim Jong Dae (Nam Goong Min), ends up working at the benefit office, but this embarrassing encounter just may turn out to be the story of a lifetime. While it may seem like the trouble with being a writer is being a paid one, Seung Hee needs to learn a thing or two about the biggest hurdle of all: living a love story worth telling. - Dramafever

Actress Lee Yeong-ah and actor Nam Goong-min are starring in a 10 part drama called, "Unemployed Romance".

E Channel said, "The two are about to go through a change from their calm image to a bright and cheerful one".

Lee Yeong-ah takes on the role of Seung-hee, who dreams of being a star writer but is only a salary writer for a third-class program. Nam Goong-min takes on the role of Jong-dae, a temporary public worker in the department of unemployment benefits.

They both say it's nice to act out a cheerful character and that they feel like it's an opportunity for them.

General manager Kwon Yong-seok says, ""Unemployed Romance" is a realistic but fun movie which will earn the connection of the generation of the year 2030".

"Unemployed Romance" is about the reunion between Seung-hee and her first love Jong-dae.

To be aired on the 5th of October at 11PM.

Here’s another fall drama to look out for — I know, as if we really needed MORE fall dramas this year — cable network E Channel will be broadcasting an original drama, a ten-episode romantic comedy series called Unemployed Romance. It has Namgoong Min (Gu Am Heo Jun) and Lee Young-ah (Vampire Prosecutor) as headliners, and tells a bright relatable story about a woman who dreams of being a writer but lives off of unemployment checks.

The new series comes from a rookie PD/writer team and stars Lee Young-ah as an aspiring drama writer who dreams of one day being the next Kim Soo-hyun. But in reality the only credit she has to her name is a third-rate drama on endless reruns called Love and Ruin (ha), where she was just one of many wage-collecting staff writers. She goes from that to rock bottom, living off of unemployment wages in order to get by.

It’s at the unemployment benefits office where she runs into Namgoong Min, who — horror of horrors — is her first love from college. I’m already cringing for her. He’s working there on a short-term contract as a civil servant, in order to qualify for some scholarship. So he’s literally the guy cutting her the unemployment check? Ack.

What’s more is that he happens to think of her as bad mojo — everything goes awry in his life when he’s with her, and he blames her for things going badly for him during their college days. The chance meeting at the unemployment office brings her back into his life, and then she starts to mess things up for him again, this time starting with a potential new woman in his life. The premise sounds really cute and down-to-earth, which in the sea of ghost-seers and high melodrama these days, would be a rather nice change of pace. I hope the writing and directing deliver something worthwhile.

Unemployed Romance will air on Saturday nights and premieres October 5.

Bae Seul-ki has been gaining popularity as an actress with two movies coming out at the end of the year and she said, "I am nervous to say that I am approaching everyone as a real actress".

Meanwhile, "Unemployed Romance" will be broadcasted on the 5th of October.

The 10-episode drama "Unemployed Romance" has now filled its four star vacancies. Lee Young Ah and Nam Goong Min have signed on for the leading roles. And the two second lead roles have been assigned to actor Seo Jun Young and singer-actress Bae Seul Ki.

Lee Young Ah, who appeared in "Vampire Prosecutor," "Vampire Prosecutor 2" and "King of Baking, Kim Takgu," plays Seung Hee, a would-be drama writer who is currently unemployed. She only has one writing credit to her name. She worked on a drama as one of many staff writers. And she is not proud of how the drama turned out, so it might have been better not to have any writing credits at all.

One day Seung Hee visits the unemployment office and she is mortified to run into her first love. Her first love is Jong Dae, played by Nam Goong Min, who starred in "Gu Am Heon Jun," "Can You Hear My Heart" and Cheomdamdung Alice." Jong Dae works at the unemployment office in order to qualify for a scholarship. He is not happy to see Seung Hee as he has always thought that she is bad luck. Back in college, things went wrong when she was around.

Running into her first love is not the only thing Seung Hee has to worry about.

Seung Hee's best friend Seon Joo, played by solo singer Bae Seul Ki is a famous writer but she became famous by taking an opportunity that should have been Seung Hee's.

Seon Joo will be Bae Seul Ki's first major drama role although she previously had supporting roles in the dramas "The Greatest Love," and "Late Night Hospital" and in the film "Couples." Despite her previous acting experience, Bae Seul Ki expressed some fear about taking on the role.

"I am nervous to be coming before everyone as a real actress," she said.

Seo Jun Young plays Wan Ha, Jong Dae's best high school friend and now a well-mannered lawyer. Seo Jun Young is best known for his roles in the indie film "Bleak Night, the saeguk "Deep Rooted Tree" and the film "Eighteen." He also appeared in the drama "To The Beautiful You." He thinks "Unemployed Romance" has great comic potential.

"I can't wait to see how the characters turn out," said Seo.

Choi Do Hoon will direct "Unemployed Romance." Lee So Ah I will write the screenplay. The drama will air Saturday nights starting October 5.
