[DISPATCH]
The movie 'Negotiation' (director Lim Soon-rye) confirmed the release on January 18, 2023.
The first official poster and trailer were also released.

'Negotiation' is a movie about Afghanistan and the Taliban. It is the story of a diplomat specializing in negotiations and a local NIS agent operating to rescue Koreans held hostage by the Taliban.

Hwang Jung-min transforms into 'Jeong Jae-ho', a diplomat specializing in negotiations. A competent and principled person. Hyun Bin becomes 'Park Dae-sik', an agent of the National Intelligence Service in the Middle East. He thinks the hostages must be saved at all costs.

The two posters vividly convey the rough and desolate feeling of Afghanistan. Hwang Jung-min and Hyun-bin were walking towards the Taliban camp with a solemn expression.

In particular, Hyun Bin's unconventional transformation is also impressive. With a rough-growth beard and tanned skin, he gave off a Middle Eastern agent force. Hwang Jung-min showed off a suit fashion like an elite diplomat.

Even in the official trailer, an atmosphere of urgency was felt. The Taliban gave a 24-hour deadline for killing. Hwang Jung-min's watch starts to decrease gradually.

Hwang Jung-min and Hyun-bin's different beliefs also attract attention. Hyun Bin asks Hwang Jung-min, "If another victim comes out, can you take responsibility?" She predicted that collaboration between the two would not be smooth.

However, Hwang Jung-min and Hyun-bin gradually overcome the difference in method and way of thinking. They do their best even in adverse conditions, such as the demands of the Taliban and the additional sacrifice of hostages.

Meanwhile, in 'Negotiation', in addition to the two, Kang Ki-young will star. Kang Ki-young plays Lee Bong-han (Kasim), a weedy Korean who survived in the back alleys of Afghanistan. He is going to add wit and fun.

South Korea’s Megabox Plus M has sold The Point Men, director Yim Soon-rye’s anticipated Korean hostage crisis drama, to 14 territories including Japan (Gaga) and Taiwan (MovieCloud).

The latest feature from Yim, who directed 2014 local hit Whistle Blower, stars Hwang Jung-min (The Spy Gone North) and Hyun Bin (Late Autumn) in the true story of a Korean diplomat who is dispatched to Afghanistan when a group of South Korean tourists is taken hostage by the Taliban. When all other measures fail and one hostage is killed, he is forced to team up with a special agent (Hyun) to try and rescue the survivors.

The film, which is in post-production, has also sold to Hong Kong and Macau (Edko Films), Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Vietnam (Encore Films), Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar (Sahamongkol Film), Philippines (Viva Networks), and Mongolia (The Filmbridge).

Investor-distributor Megabox Plus M, which launched its international sales arm in October, is lining up The Point Men as a 2021 tentpole release in Korea.

The company says it has also been fielding inquiries from Chinese buyers following encouraging recent signals that a thaw in China’s unofficial freeze on Korean cultural products could be coming soon.

@bearcreek  thanks for sharing this. Both of their characters have to settle their differences and work together to release the kidnapped Korean within 24 hours, or else the Taliban will kill the hostage.

Looking forward to watch this movie.   :popcornjackson:

The Point Men, starring Hwang Jung Minand Hyun Bin, confirmed its release date and dropped a teaser trailer with its main poster.

The movie follows a diplomat and a National Intelligence Service agent on a rescue mission in Afghanistan to save Koreans who got kidnapped by the Taliban. Yim Soon Rye behind Whistle Blower and Little Forest helmed the upcoming film.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the dangerous moment at the time of the kidnapping and the challenging circumstance of achieving an agreement due to a variety of unexpected factors through brilliant performances of actors and realistic scenes that highlight their struggles in Afghanistan.

The clip begins with Jung Jae Ho (played by Hwang Jung Min) saying, “I believe the first duty of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is to afford protection to its citizens.” This shows his strong determination to rescue the hostages, even if it means going against the basic diplomacy principle of not negotiating with terrorists.

The scene then switches to Jae Ho claiming to verify the abduction situation first, to which the local National Intelligence Service agent (Hyun Bin) refutes, saying, “What if another victim dies? Will you be responsible for their death?,” foreshadowing the bumpy road ahead of them.

Meanwhile, Kang Ki Young is expected to add a comedic relief to the movie as Lee Bong Han, the streetwise Korean who survived in Afghanistan. As he has adapted to the local situations and is fluent in the language, he will play a crucial role as a translator in the negotiation.

The Point Men will premiere on January 18th next year.

@bearcreek  thanks for sharing this. The two posters convey the wild and desolate atmosphere in Afghanistan, which is the background of the movie. The first poster picture captures the scene showing the urgency of a dangerous negotiation operation in an unfamiliar land. The second one reveals the images of Hwang Jung Min and Hyun Bin in the middle of a rough desert. I'm looking forward to how the two will risk their lives to save the hostages. The official first trailer released gives a glimpse of the dangerous moment at the time of the kidnapping and the situation in which it is hard to reach the negotiation due to all kinds of bad conditions. Can't wait for January 18th.  :heart2beat:
