In the movie, Hyun Bin plays a NIS agent who suffers from trauma due to a previous operation in Iraq in which he failed to free hostages. Hyun Bin’s character plans on retiring when he learns about the Korean hostages and flies to Afghanistan. The movie’s director, Lim Soon Rye, had previously stated he felt Hyun Bin was the perfect actor to play the character.

Park Dae Sik (Hyun Bin’s character) is primitive and free as the wind. I felt Hyun Bin would be able to act out the character’s loneliness and solitary personality well.

— Lim Soon Rye

Fans are anticipating a rougher, more rugged version of Hyun Bin — unrecognizable from the clean-cut, uniform adorned Ri Jeong Hyeok, the actor played in Crash Landing On You.

◇ Hyun Bin, Chuseok theater district saved by 'Confidential Cooperation 2'

Hyun Bin succeeded in the Chuseok theater district box office with the movie 'Confidential Assignment 2: International'. 'Cooperation 2: International' is a North Korean detective Rim Chul-ryeong (Hyun Bin) and a South Korean detective Kang Jin-tae (Yoo Hae-jin), who met again to catch a global criminal organization, and new face overseas FBI Jack (Daniel Henney), each for their own purposes. It is a film about an unpredictable triangular cooperative investigation by a group of detectives.

Hyun Bin took on the role of Rim Cheol-ryeong, an elite North Korean detective who remains the same as in the previous film. In particular, this time, he not only showed a closer chemistry with Jin-tae Kang (played by Hae-jin Yoo), a salty South Korean detective, but also laughed at Jin-tae Kang's sister-in-law, Min-young Park (played by Yoon-ah Lim), and Daniel Henney, who plays Jack, a foreign detective belonging to the FBI. .

In addition to this, various action scenes that have been upgraded more than the previous film also caught the eye. It showed a fly swatter action scene that continued the toilet paper action scene in the previous film, and captured a passionate performance with Jin Seon-gyu, who plays the villain Jang Myung-jun, with intense action. As a result, 'Confidential Cooperation 2: International' ranked 3rd in Korean box office this year and 4th overall, including foreign films, following 'Criminal City 2' and 'Hansan: Rise of the Dragon'.

*** January next year won't see as many theatrical releases as in past months like this month, but it will still have some exciting titles on offer for the audience, such as "Switch," "The Point Men" and "Phantom." "The Point Men", which wrapped up filming in 2020, was originally set for this year's release date. However, the studio delayed the film due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope this movie will be a box-office HIT, too. I believe 'No film is a failure if it has fans'. Movies with a strong fan base are likely to stay longer in theaters. They help their movies get attention and affect many others to want to see them.  :cutekitty:
