Lee Jong Suk Leaves His Agency, Plans to Remain Independent for Now

According to affiliates on December 31, model and actor Lee Jong Suk‘s contract with his agency Wellmade Yedang has ended. The star will not be renewing his contract and he plans to continue to look for other agencies as he films his current drama “Jade Lover (tentative title).”

An insider stated, “Lee Jong Suk received many offers from his company after his contract ended but he refused them all.”

It continued, “Lee Jong Suk also brought his manager out with him. He even personally called his public relations agency. He stated that he won’t be housed in a company for a while now.”

Lee Jong Suk’s personal public relations company stated, “Lee Jong Suk plans to take a break and reenergize while working on his future projects in 2016. He plans to give back to all his fans by focusing on acting. He will carefully and wisely choose his agency after he finishes filming ‘Jade Lover.’”

So since Jongsuk’s situation is a little unusual, there has been multiple rumours about him coming out today already.

Rumour 1: Chinese company has offered him a 6 billion won deal to start his own personal company.

Refutation: Lee Jong Suk has rejected the investment deal and will form a one-man system with his temporary manager. He does not belong to any particular company until a confirmation is made.

Plus: His side released the stance that “If Lee Jong Suk makes any decision with regards to future activities and companies, the public will be notified directly.” (Translation: Please stop speculating lol.)

Rumour 2: Lee Jong Suk’s new manager used to work with Won Bin and he will besetting up a new company with the manager.

Refutation: The manager was Won Bin’s manager and also part of Management Soop, the company for Gong Hyo Jin, Gong Yoo and Cha Do Yeon… yet LJS’ side has clearly said that although he has a working relationship with the manager, it doesn’t point to any decision yet.

The best thing about today’s responses is that they come from him directly and swiftly, almost WITHIN THE HOUR that the rumour is released… put this in comparison to the days-old response of Wellmade in the past, which is useless when the news had already seeped into the minds of the public.

Lee Jong Seok and Zheng Shuang Confirmed for 1930’s Era C-drama Emerald Jade Lover

It’s a done deal, now fans of Lee Jong Seok can only sit back and wait to see the end product. Lead casting for Chinese-Korean co-production C-drama Emerald Jade Lover is complete, with Lee Jong Seok as the male lead and the female lead now confirmed to be Zheng Shuang. Filming begins in January in Shanghai and Hengdian, the massive film studio capital of China. To do this drama, Zheng Shuang reportedly postponed her sabbatical to study overseas, which isn’t a surprise since she’s only 24 years old and her breakout drama with Let’s Go Watch the Meteor Shower came out when she was all of 18 years old. Zheng Shuang wouldn’t be my pick for Lee Jong Seok’s leading lady but it could have been worse, and there is something new to look forward to as she’s totally different in visuals and acting styles than all his previous leading ladies. With low expectations, this has a good chance of being a pleasant surprise of a watch.

 

 

Lee Jong Seok’s character is described as a mysterious returning from overseas business executive, who straddles both legit business enterprises and the underground mafia world. Zheng Shuang’s female lead is a romantically clueless rich girl who has her world turned upside going, going from princess to pauper, and in the process undergoing a radical growth and maturity into a strong capable woman. Their romance will be of the meet cute bickering type. I’m also intrigued at seeing capable Korean PD Jin Hyuk helming his first C-drama, and bringing his visual aesthetic to the process.
