For his suspected involvement in trying to assassinate Yi Geun-taek, Interpreter Yu was arrested by the Japanese police at his home. In making a brave attempt to stop the arrest, HJ almost came under the sword of the Japanese police.

When news of Yu's death penalty filtered through to SR, she went into shock. The family was allowed to see Yu for one last time before his execution.

At the brink of death, Yu faced his fate with great detachment like a true resolute patriot. He chided his wife for crying and ordered HJ and SR to proceed with their wedding plans. In HJ's hands he would entrust his family, including his servants, inspiring HJ to do his best as a doctor and for his country. "Let me call you father once", HJ said and we fade into white with gunshots ringing in the background.

Operation Clandestine

HJ was smuggled in a clandestine operation to treat an injured nationalist general in his secret hideout.
