This drama doesn't disappoint. It is certainly a breath of fresh air from the Cinderella complex. It's got to be good, especially when you've got bonafide stars like Lee Byung Hun, Kim Tae Hee, Kim So Yun, and Kim Seung Woo. Can't wait til the rest of the episodes are subbed. I watched up to episode 10 in 1 day (well I had to work in between you know)

OK.. this is really bugging me, If BS can make a call and spare CSH's life, couldn't he have called the terrorists and tell them to kill HJ if he knows that HJ is alive?

If this is part of a bigger conspiracy.. it's possible that Baek San and the General still needs HJ for their plan to work. It's a carefully-orchestrated situation starting with the Hungary assassination.. no.. no.. since the recruitment of HJ into NSS (or maybe since the time he's in the orphanage -- could be the Priest was the one encouraging HJ to join the Special Forces?). The solo-mission aimed to fail successfully turned HJ into a fugitive. Baek San knew HJ's background and his potential right from the beginning, allowing his relationship with CSH within NSS (which because of that HJ himself vowed that he had & would return alive). Baek San (presumably) made it look like CSH had died.. triggering the "revenge" mode in HJ, and in the process had lured the Voice out for IRIS to eliminate him.. killing two birds with one stone. With the country against him.. HJ had to turn to the enemy instead.. cooperating with the NK side which in reality he's actually helping IRIS & Baek San achieve their evil plan to rob NSS right from under their noses.

Besides, HJ made a promise with PCY (to be in the terrorist group) and although the General holds the last word.. there might be something they still need from HJ before executing the plan to blow up Seoul.. maybe made him the unwilling 'mastermind' of the whole situation.. with CSH as the pawn.. again? The terrorists all knew full well HJ's background being the 'disgraced' NSS agent but they really couldn't get into NSS as easily without him.

But of course.. this is just my IRIS speculation (also haven't seen ep 14 which could totally discredit everything)... and yes, I'm focusing on HJ more than the other characters.. Everyone else is free to speculate otherwise.

Honestly, most of the info are from reading the insightful recaps by joynara (without whom we'd be lost totally) but please don't worry about being silly.. or thinking that we'd look stupid giving our points I ask endless questions all the time with sometimes the most blurr/embarrassing topics.. not purposely intended but that's how we get answers and learn things. I love IRIS and have been drawn to the characterization of HJ not just because he's played by LBH but because convincingly so.. there's the man he is, Kim Hyun Joon whom we watched him from being a talkative, happy-go-lucky, jovial and charming.. and so-in-love chap.. in a split second had his life turned around, totally messed up that he just didn't know why fate had to be so cruel on him.

it could be as far back as the point when Baek San decides not to kill HJ but instead, 'delete' his memory so that he doesn't remember anything about the parents, then bring him into NSS later on.

Episode 14 is amazing in that there are now 'multiple forces' all ready for the big showdown.

1) NSS Director + Seung Hee + the other NSS agents he trusted

2) President + HJ + SunHwa

3) PCY + Sunhwa

4) IRIS 1 - Baek San + Sawoo + South Korean officials

5) IRIS 2 - Mystery Man + Vick (notice that Vick is following BS)

6) North Korean terrorists + General

I might have gotten the equation wrong but the point is...Now, nobody trusts no one anymore!

There's no preview because Episode 15 wasn't ready yet, since I think it will be filmed in the big square in Seoul this weekend. Next episode should be very amazing, as always.

For those who have watched episode 14, do you think Sawoo is now a 'full' IRIS member now that he doesn't feel guilt any longer, other than Seung Hee's safety?

It's normal, his character Vick is doing all this as a mission. He's getting through NSS by getting her. So it's normal if you don't see any Emotions.

This is exactly what I am thinking too. The farther HJ tries to seek revenge, the deeper he falls into BS and Co.'s plan. The way the plot is developing, we will probably not see a big transformation on CSH's side. Rather when she tries to find him (which she will), she will be like ,HJ and Mr.Doctor, luring HJ out to BS, who would then order for his capture (since he was involved in the NSS attack). If not that, then yes, definitely at the end, CSH will be the card that kills HJ. As HJ is Sunhwa's "kryptonite," CSH is HJ's.

However, now that the NK agent is a lone soldier, the death of HJ + Sunhwa is ordered, and Seunghee and tech team Co. know that Sawoo and BS are traitors, I think they will all work together and complete what the Doctor had tried to do, to destroy IRIS. How strong this team will be is questionable. It depends on how much info Vick can get from the tech girl.

I just saw episode 14.. and.. wow.. the tables are now turned on PCY and the high TENSION at NSS.. indeed, everyone doesn't trust anyone anymore. About HJ meeting the President *super-cool factor*.. I'm guessing this is the "back-up plan" by the Voice (was he called the Doctor, too? I missed the correct identification for him). Could be an old acquaintance to the President since the younger days.. from their nuclear research years? I like it that even with the major main cast of IRIS building the showdown momentum.. the story also focuses a bit more on the number of supporting characters, showing them in more scenes too.. how they'll connect more to what's coming. It's like what the intro of the drama stated in the beginning of production.. the 6 main cast strongly supported by 15 other actors.

Lily.. who ordered HJ and KSH's death? PCY doesn't agree with the General's plan, right and although HJ doesn't know that yet.. PCY was the key person planning the terrorist attack and his captivity should assist HJ's bid to stop the bomb. I wonder if it's KSH who gave PCY up or if she knew about the capture?.

It's interesting to note how the remaining episodes would go.. in order to expose IRIS all-out.. will there be more twists to the conspiracy that's supposedly revealed with the Baek San's video or is there someone else much "higher" than expected controlling everything?

Hope the filming on Sunday goes well.. it's just so exciting to see how things will turn out.. the highly-anticipated showdown of HJ-SW. Great to see that SW in more ways than before.. the transformation being clearly shown (by the expression on JJH). Of course, not really knowing what's really.. really.. in his mind.. but he definitely could be the next Baek San if there's a chance..

Absolutely, everything is starting to fall into place. IRIS seems to be one of those rare dramas that builds up its supporting cast. Everyone, no matter how big or small his/her role is, has an importance in the storyline. Amazingly, the tech girl & guy have more screentime and (imo) more importances than Vick. Their parts make sense to me.

From what was shown, the NK superior head called Cap and ordered the death of HJ + Sunhwa before the detonation of the bomb. This is why those two were left out in the detonation planning. Of course, both characters don't know this but I think they know something is up. Yes, PCY definitely knows he is being betrayed now. At the end, it looks like HJ (under the support of the President) is now trying to recruit PCY over to his side. PCY knows that his superior can not be trusted and that he has a connection with Baek San. I don't know if he knows about IRIS yet. But I am sure that can be filled in once he works with HJ.

Yes, the Voice is the known as the "Doctor." He may have some previous affiliation with the President. I don't think the President expected for HJ to show up. He knew someone was sent to him meet from the Doctor.

Ep.14 is definitely one of my favorite episode. I'm dying not knowing what to expect next week.

Thanks Lily.. makes a lot of sense now. If anyone should be added into the main cast of IRIS.. I have to say it's Kim Young Chul for being Baek San. He was only (formally) announced to be in IRIS around end of August if I'm not mistaken but just look at how his character is affecting all those in the series. Good thing that at least one of the official IRIS posters had included him as well.

Each time watching IRIS.. I'd say I like this particular episode a lot and when the next one comes along.. it's even better and more intriguing .. you just never knew what's coming next. And even with the feeling like the story is exposing way too much or going too fast in a single episode.. there is always another twist that will shock/surprise us when we thought things were alright & predictable.

I have a couple of questions, I wonder if we know yet who blew up CSH's car in Hungary? That seems to be a big piece of the puzzle that's been left missing. To me, it would be significant. Who got her out of the car before it blew? Where did she go? Anyone else suspicious of her b/c of this? She seems totally in love with and obsessed with HJ yet there's this big gap in her story.

I'm know I'm not the only one who wonders what her connection to BS is, why he's so concerned with her all the time, etc. I think there's more to it than him using her to draw out HJ, especially since for such a long time he really believed he was dead. I didn't catch this part in your post. But this is just my speculation...don't take it too seriously.

Depending on how this drama concludes and if there will be a season 2. I think the storyline would focus on SW. We could have a scenario where HJ kills SW, thought that he really killed him, but SW doesn't die. Someone saves him (perhaps an extended member of the IRIS clan), and the cycle continues. SW would depend on his connection with IRIS to eliminate HJ. He would then be the next Baek San just like HJ is now the next "Doctor."

1. No we don't know who informed CSH that her car will explode. That part is still missing in this storyline. I do think it will be significant. I'm starting to believe that the Doctor or at least one of his men was at the scene and called her. In one of the BTS clips, there was a scene where she was out of the car and running. We don't know where she was running to or what happened before that. We can speculate that (as mentioned by one of the members in this thread) that she must have saw the NK folks, received the phone call(?), ran out to help HJ, but was lost in the crowd (I'm not sure in what order that sequence of events occurred in). I would also assume that in the time frame that she was lost in the station, HJ ran out(?), saw the car exploded, SH heard the explosion ran out, also at that point the NK folks were firing at him, HJ jumped into another car, and the car chasing scene occurred. This second sequence of events is just my speculation. The way it was filmed made it seem as if those series of events took forever but they probably didn't. Everything must have happened within 5 minutes or so?

2. We still don't know about her connection with Baek San. Someone suggested that she was his illegitimate child. As funny and (possible (?)) as that sounds, I don't think that would be the case. Since the beginning, BS threatened HJ that he would hurt CSH if HJ was ever out of line. I think she is just a card that BS is using against HJ. BS would not let her die because he has a grander and colder way to kill/torture HJ. It is also plausible that she could be affliated with IRIS, though we are at ep14 now but there still isn't a sign to prove that she is.
