If this is part of a bigger conspiracy.. it's possible that Baek San and the General still needs HJ for their plan to work. It's a carefully-orchestrated situation starting with the Hungary assassination.. no.. no.. since the recruitment of HJ into NSS (or maybe since the time he's in the orphanage -- could be the Priest was the one encouraging HJ to join the Special Forces?). The solo-mission aimed to fail successfully turned HJ into a fugitive. Baek San knew HJ's background and his potential right from the beginning, allowing his relationship with CSH within NSS (which because of that HJ himself vowed that he had & would return alive). Baek San (presumably) made it look like CSH had died.. triggering the "revenge" mode in HJ, and in the process had lured the Voice out for IRIS to eliminate him.. killing two birds with one stone. With the country against him.. HJ had to turn to the enemy instead.. cooperating with the NK side which in reality he's actually helping IRIS & Baek San achieve their evil plan to rob NSS right from under their noses.

Besides, HJ made a promise with PCY (to be in the terrorist group) and although the General holds the last word.. there might be something they still need from HJ before executing the plan to blow up Seoul.. maybe made him the unwilling 'mastermind' of the whole situation.. with CSH as the pawn.. again? The terrorists all knew full well HJ's background being the 'disgraced' NSS agent but they really couldn't get into NSS as easily without him.

But of course.. this is just my IRIS speculation (also haven't seen ep 14 which could totally discredit everything)... and yes, I'm focusing on HJ more than the other characters.. Everyone else is free to speculate otherwise.

I have only watched up to ep. 10 since I'm waiting for subs, but got the gist of the story for the later episodes by reading all the wonderful recaps in this thread. It's highly possible that BS and Iris would use HJ as the mastermind to blow up middle Seoul, so that the blame isn't on NK, which would cause a war. I see Iris as a group that makes conflicts between the two Koreas... so that there wont be a reunification, but I don't see them as an organization that go as far as to create a war. I could be wrong tho.

One other question is how does Iris benefit from the conflicts between countries??? Do they sell weapons to countries?

I can't figure out what they're doing with that storyline at all. IRIS already has at least Sa Woo and Bae Sun inside of NSS. They don't need anyone to spy on the hacker girl for info. Maybe it's just to give the Vick character more scenes b/c he's popular? Doesn't make any sense to me.

2. The director, baeksan, killed hyunjun's parents, the father of the church, and the guy who saved him. but what for? i don't understand that part, it's seems it has been his "destiny" to be killed/used. what does hyunjun have that the director wants him dead and kill everyone that is close to him?

3. who is the guy that saved him? like what is he part of or is he not part of anything, i know he knew hyunhun since young... im confused with that.

I believe BaekSan as part of IRIS killed HJ's parents, but we don't know for sure exactly who killed the priest, probably other members of IRIS. All we really know about IRIS is that it's an international organization that has infiltrated all levels of various governments. Seems that keeping various countries at war (or on the brink of it) is what they're most interested in, but it's not clear what their end goal is, other than power.

I believe he was friends with HJ's parents and part of the group of scientists who were developing nuclear weapons for South Korea. Some other people on the thread have said they think BS has kept HJ alive and under his thumb all these years in order to use him to get to the Doctor. I assume there's more to it than that, and we might get more answers as the story progresses.

So yes, the director BaekSan is part of IRIS. So is SangWoo, the president's secretary and that North Korean general who is directing the terrorist group to detonate the nuclear bomb in Seoul. The hitman Vick apparently is also part of IRIS, but it's unclear exactly who he answers to. There are still more mysteries surounding him.

it's obvious a character that only receives a few seconds to a few minutes average of screen time will be considered weak out of the whole cast... however, is his character "weak"?? i think not. his hand, his gun set the whole plan in motion (as far as the start of the drama is concern) when he executed a Chinese man, a man he suspected that has the list of IRIS in his possession, but did not.

if you think of IRIS, think of it like an octopus with many tentacles spreading out or a spider web with unknown origin or who's calling the shot in the organization... IRIS is in North Korea and South Korea as the doctor said to HJ face to face... but in the beginning Vick only aswered to "Mr. Black" a westerner speaking English, so Mr. Black is suspectedly someone from the west or even THE EVIL USA (CIA)

and according to Sun Hwa, the murder of the scientist who was defecting to South Korea was not at all the North's doing... we all know it was Vick, so therefore Vick is not either North or South, but yet he is the mysterious executioner hand of IRIS in this drama...

HJ, unknown to him before was also an executioner through the order of NSS (BS), but now he has realized IRIS' existence and purpose

SW, a willing executioner was ordered by NSS (BS) to kill HJ, but reasons of not wanting SH hurt, but now he is more deliberate knowing that HJ is alive

CY, unknown to him in the beginning, but was being used by his leader General of the North, now felt he's betrayed and about to be awaken by HJ (end of ep 14)

SHa, unknown to her until parents died and a man, HJ, that she was suppose to kill showed her mercy (kindness), something that has grabbed her since ep 6/7 and whom she's attached to ever since

SH, the only character still out of the loop out until her director came to talk to her, telling her NSS or some people in it isn't trustworthy anymore (suspected SW, BS as moles), provided her for escape out the gym when she was being followed by NSS agents

they just wanted to give him more scenes? is he that popular?
