I saw him in a drama called "Love Destiny". It does not seem like Bad Couple. Does anyone know which drama this could be? It could be an alternative title for one of his lastest projects, I guess.

i'm back! and i think i did well on my midterms considering how much time i spent finishing up 18 vs. 29... it's so wrong... i started bad couple on last Friday and caught up by Sunday, and started 18 vs. 29 Tuesday and finished late Wednesday night...

piano_lady, that is a wonderful idea! unfortunately i don't have any ryu soo young dramas uploaded.. plus i have a mac (apple) so i can't upload from clubboxes... while you're looking though... can i ask you for a favor..? Could you see if anyone has 18 vs. 29 NGs uploaded on their clubboxes? I would think since it was a popular drama, they would have had NGs, but there aren't any uploaded on youtube or veoh. If you can't, that's okay too~

I WILL, however, continue to look up ryu soo young on korean websites and deliver any news if I can.

I found this link regarding Ryu Soo Young before he debuted as an actor. He was on a reality show (truth talk), and I guess the contestants had to guess whether he or another person had lost a whole bunch of weight. I guess he used to be 118kg (about 260lbs). Apparently he was really popular on the show even though he wasn't there as a talent; people described him as a chubby Jung Woo Sung (as you can see in that picture).

After my midterm I promptly dropped by the korean vid store to check out Summertime. I think it's his first movie, I don't really know anything about it. I'll let you know how it is; I'm going to watch it tonight~

oh, and cleown, maybe the drama is "Chut Sarang"? That's the only one that I can think of that sounds similar. It translates directly to "First Love", but if you look that phrase up, it's a different drama altogether. I think he may have starred in it around 2003ish?

what did you think of the movie? maybe i'm not skilled enough in the art of movie critiquing, but was the blatant sex necessary? I don't mind seeing him nekkid and all but.... some of the stuff, ... how uncomfortable would it have to be to do as an actor??? Some of the stuff they were doing... they can't really fake... were they actually having sex?!?

I wonder why RSY chose such a difficult role as his first foray into acting... I think he did a wonderful job, as did the husband. The wife... I didn't think her acting was all that great... as far as the speaking lines went...

Man.. and I thought Unfaithful was graphic. I was WONDERING why the guy at the video store was giving me a funny look! I got it as VHS, so I didn't see a cover on it. I just assumed by the title that it was a melodrama....

Although it was graphic, it wasn't actually porn...more like pink movies ...it has simulated sex scenes and nudity...

According to a friend if it was actual porn...all the thingmajigs would be on show :-)

I LOVED the movie. Was thinking it might be a surprise to some. I'm old enough that nothing much shocks me anymore. Many Korean actors/actresses have done movies in that category.

And, no, they weren't really having sex. It's too difficult when a dozen other people (film crew) are standing around watching your every move, so I assure you, it was faked.

"Summer Time" wasn't RSY's first acting job. He had a few other things under his belt. Kim Ji Hyun ("wife") was a singer who wanted to get into acting according to the write-up at the CJ Entertainment website. I've seen a number of the other cast members in dramas as well.

The thing that makes me laugh is that the guy at the video store would know enough about the movie to give you a funny look! Wonder what HE's doing with his spare time.......

Meanwhile, guess what! I found some pictures of RSY in uniform!!! Well, it's a costume, but as close as I could get......

RSY and Shin Eun Kyung were both in the movie "BLUE" and did some scenes together. Soo Young's character was not a happy camper, more like a tortured soul, so he had some attitude problems and was at odds with a certain superior officer.

Anyway, at one point he gets a muscle cramp while swimming and like a good commander, she dives in and rescues him.

Then, later on, they're trapped together on a sinking sub. Also a picture of SEK in uniform just for the heck of it.

Knowing that makes this scene from "Bad Couple" even funnier.

In "BLUE", RSY's character is kind of a nasty guy, and looks it. It underscores what a fine actor he is that he can also play rather unlovable characters. In the interview clip he looks like the sweet Soo Young we all adore.

THANKS Debbie for those wonderful caps! He looks fine in uniform..but he's thinner there. I've never seen those before and have been searching quite a bit for BLUE since both SEG and RSY were in it! But I almost didn't recognize SEG! She had a bit of meat there

True, RSY doesn't that typical pretty face but when he smiles....aaaahhhh....girls just melt!

RSY did great in both 1829 and Bad Couple. He's charming in both series too. But in the whole, I like him best in BC. I think it's his crying that got me...not everyone can pull it off like he did

There's lots to love in both Kang Sang Young (18 vs. 29) and Gi Chan (Bad Couple). I agree that RSY had a great deal more dramatic scope to work with as Kang Sang Young, which was loads of fun to watch. He started out as such a butthead. Gi Chan, on the other hand, is the man you would want to spend the rest of your life with! "Bad Couple" is pretty much a showcase for Shin Eun Kyung's talent, and even though the role of Gi Chan isn't meant to dazzle, RSY is able to make the character so irresistibly lovable that he keeps your attention (to say the least) and never gets overshadowed. I hope this role will put an end to RSY's "underrated"-ness.

It's a lot like being in school again. My name was very popular for girls my age, so I'd be walking down the hall, someone would call "Debbie!" and fifteen other girls besides myself would turn around.
