SBS’s “The Penthouse 2” has shared a super-cute glimpse of the real-life chemistry between Kim So Yeon and Choi Ye Bin!

In the hit drama, Kim So Yeon and Choi Ye Bin play the roles of Cheon Seo Jin and Ha Eun Byul, a mother and daughter with a toxic relationship. Although Cheon Seo Jin is willing to do anything for the sake of her daughter, her misguided parenting and her pressuring ways have driven her and Ha Eun Byul further and further apart.

Meanwhile, Ha Eun Byul’s anxious desire to please Cheon Seo Jin and live up to her exacting standards have taken a serious toll on her mental health—and gradually fueled the flames of hatred and resentment towards her mother.

However, in newly released behind-the-scenes photos of the two co-stars, the on-screen mother and daughter show off an entirely different dynamic from the bitter, crackling tension they share in the drama. SBS Friday and Saturday drama “Penthouse 2” Kim So-yeon, Um Ki-jun, Kim Young-dae, and Han Ji-hyun faced with the atmosphere of a thin ice plate, and the scene of “Precarious Meal” was revealed.

 

In particular, in the last broadcast, Chun Seo-jin (Kim So-yeon) was forced to marry Ju Dan-tae to protect her daughter Ha Eun-byul (Choi Ye-bin), and spent a hellish day in the very reality of Ju-dan-tae. Cheon Seo-jin, who has faded into a stupid eye without of focus, pours coffee to Dan-tae Ju, and Dan-tae Ju sends a sharp gaze full of life. Judan-tae grabbed Seo-jin Cheon's shoulder and whispered while Ju-dan-tae grabbed the shoulders of Seo-jin Cheon and Seo-jin Cheon stared in front of her and smiled forcibly. The tension between the four people, like the night before the storm, is arousing curiosity about which direction will flow. On the other hand, Kim So-yeon and Um Ki-jun are expressing the relationship between Cheon Seo-jin and Ju Dan-tae, which are rapidly changing, by bursting the breath that has been accumulated since Season 1 without any addition or subtraction. In this “Precarious Meal” filming, where the relationship between the two characters must be explained rapidly, the site created a creepy expression of emotions and a composition of characters to cool the air in the field. Moreover, Kim Young-dae, who plays Joong-hoon and Han Ji-hyun, who plays Joong-gyeong, who are leaving a strong impression on the home theater with their unprecedented and stable acting skills, also added a sense of urgency to the scene by exploding a solid input.

“The Penthouse 2” has revealed stills of a dramatic scene ahead!

Every Friday and Saturday, a suspenseful story of revenge unravels at the Penthouse, an apartment complex reserved for those at the top of the social pyramid. It focuses on the solidarity and pursuit of revenge among a group of women who stops at nothing to protect their children.

Previously, Cheon Seo Jin (Kim So Yeon) got married to Joo Dan Tae (Uhm Ki Joon) in order to protect her daughter Ha Eun Byul (Choi Ye Bin). Meanwhile, Joo Dan Tae’s children Joo Seok Hoon (Kim Young Dae) and Joo Seok Kyung (Han Ji Hyun) also became suspicious of the possibility that their father caused the death of their mother Shim Soo Ryeon (Lee Ji Ah).

In the newly released stills, Cheon Seo Jin is sitting at the dinner table with Joo Dan Tae, Joo Seok Hoon, and Joo Seok Kyung. With an empty gaze, Cheon Seo Jin pours coffee for Joo Dan Tae while he keeps an intent eye on her. Joo Seok Hoon and Joo Seok Kyung watch them with displeased looks, and Cheon Seo Jin fakes a smile when Joo Dan Tae goes over and whispers something in her ear.

 

 

While filming this scene, Kim So Yeon and Uhm Ki Joon perfectly portrayed the cold atmosphere through their detailed acting, and Kim Young Dae and Han Ji Hyun also added to the tension.

The production team commented, “Kim So Yeon and Uhm Ki Joon are actors with perfect chemistry who we trust 100 percent,” and added, “Please look out for episode 11 where truths will be revealed behind incidents that have raised questions.”

Yes, the lyrics are also sad and it fits the character so well. Seo Jin is indeed a tragic character. I like that the writer made a story for her, we found out why she is the way she is, and acts the way she acts.

I watched some of ep 11 and while I laugh a little I still consider this drama a big pompous joke. It has such a weak plot. I hate the writer`s style to make twist after twist and then after the fact to add a "shocking " reveal just to explain some actions in this drama but that doesn`t mean the actions make more sense. The writer can come up with everything just because it is makjang soap opera.  I am not curious what will happen in the next season at all but why they don`t finish all this nonsense plot this season? Why drag this? Writer nim, please free So yeon of this crazy makjang drama! She deserves better.

I just watched some videos on Instagram. Seo Jin was framed with Joo Dan tae after all? So bizare plan in the first place but whatever. Police is stupid in this drama anyway.  My wish still stands. Why not let this ending? Everyone is happy that the villains got punished. Why drag more? Why? Or let the writer continue if she wants but without So yeon.

I understand you dont like the drama but for the rest i simply dont get it. Especially from a fan perspective. It's not like she was in a lot of great dramas in the last 10 years or had big opportunities. Or that this drama is so beneath her because she had so many acclaimed roles in smaller & artistic films.

This is a miracle of a career resurgance and i can't share your lack of enthusiasm.

 

Anyway i am excited for her next drama and her choices. She probably had more offers in the last 5 months than in the last 5 years combined. (She talked about her involuntary break after her marriage etc)

Yes, I am aware that I am probably the only fan of So yeon that doesn`t like this drama. After the first episodes, when I realised what kind of drama really was ( I had an idea but it is something else to watch it) I said that it is the worst drama choice for So yeon.  I agree with you and others that this drama ( being makjang and all) put her in the spotlight. If I think about the success of this drama, the way she was on the much talked drama and actor list , it is her biggest success. I totally understand why she chose this drama.  While I am happy for her because of that, I am a little sad because she got that with this kind of drama. I still believe that it is a weak production when compared with other dramas from other genre. Yes, I am excited for her next drama choices but, in the same time, I hope they won`t offer her the same kind of genre. I know that they tent to give actors the same similar offers but I trust So yeon to choose something different. She always looked for diversity in her drama choices. I will hate it and I will be very disappointed if she will chose another crazy makjang role. I am afraid that will be my break out from kdramaland. I already lost my original interest in kdramas. If I won`t enjoy watching my favorite actress on screen it will be a sad day for me.

 

She didn`t have acclaimed roles in artistic films but I hope she would have had. Perhaps in the future.

 

I still wish she won`t be in season 3 of Penthouse. For the plot they had, it was enough two seasons.  I know that the writer can find Seo Jin something to do. The soap opera finds infinitely new twist and stories. I admit that even if I don`t like the story the whole situations of this drama, So Yeon`s character was not that bad written. I have continued to watch So yeon`s scene (because she is a kind of addiction to me) and I was satisfied to see her on screen. Because I know So yeon will be on the next season with the rest of the cast, I just hope her character won`t regress to the frustrated villain who smashes things, screams and strangles Yoon Hee all the time. Enough with the screaming. Is Kim Sun Ok capable to give Seo Jin something else to do? Is there something else to be developed in this drama? I read that she will want to show the background of Joo dan tae in season 3? Yes, he needed that. He was portrayed like a cartoonish villain, one dimmentional character from day one but why not doing that until now? You try to develop his character in the last moment? For what? It is too late. I am not talking what futile was the revenge of Su Ryeon in the season 1 (the bus scene), how unsatisfying was for me to frame a villain from something he did not do to punish him (as I said the police is stupid in this drama so it will work?!!!!But I like the irony of the fact that after two years, the same crime was punished. Whatever. I won`t dig further for a logic. The police won`t ask who was the first victim? ), the countless of fake deaths and unrealistic set ups, the lack of common sense and plotholes in this drama, but why continue this story? Yeah, So yeon deserves better than this drama (just my opinion). I think two seasons were enough for this plot, even the villains were punished.  But we`ll see. Maybe the writer did not write everything for Seo Jin, maybe we have to watch her, to see her choices after the things went down for her, to see what kind of woman she will choose to be in the future. But I won`t hold my breath.
