Actress Lee Young-ae proved she still has the edge at a script-reading rehearsal for a TV series, her first in 11 years.

Lee, 44, rehearsed for SBS's historical series, "Saimdang, the Herstory," scheduled to air next year.

The series depicts historical figure Sin Saimdang (1504~1551), a painter from the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910) who is better known as the mother of Confucian scholar Lee Yul-gok (1536~1584).

In the rehearsal at SBS broadcasting company in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on Aug. 4, Lee surprised and impressed co-stars, writers and producers with her persuasive and intelligent reading of the script, according to media reports.

The series previously made headlines when it was sold to six Asian nations even before it was made, thanks to Lee and her co-star Song Seung-heon, a hallyu actor who is popular in China.

Since debuting in a TV commercial in 1990, Lee has appeared in many TV series and movies. One of her biggest hit TV series was "Daejanggeum" or "Jewel in the Palace" (2003~2004), which is considered to have ignited the hallyu boom across the world.

Ariel Lin Turns Fangirl Meeting Lee Young Ae and Joo Won in Korea

yshdhs.jpg

The Seoul International Drama Awards just went down and I’ll write about it when I have more time to scoop up all the pictures of the many pretties who attended. This post is solely about Ariel Lin‘s visit to Korea this week to attend the Seoul Drama Awards, and along with it her adorable fangirly moments prior to the awards show and later on the red carpet. Ariel is an award winning top actress in her own right in Taiwan and China, but her sweet enthusiasm is hard to top as she took in this trip to Korea with tons of down-to-earth energy.

Ariel first paid a visit to Joo Won on the set of Yongpal and was mightily impressed with his work ethic filming this drama as he’s apparently slept only three hours a night. Next she got all dolled up (and walked the red carpet with Bolin Chen, natch), but took a squee filled detour to snap a picture with Hallyu legend Lee Young Ae. Even better was her gushing posts about it afterwards on her SNS. The two ladies are so visually stunning with the black and white dresses side-by-side. But mostly Ariel’s great attitude just brings an extra smile to my face!

Lee Young-ae rejects ad offer from loan firms

image

Actress Lee Young-ae reportedly rejected many advertisement offers from loan companies, apparently mindful of their negative image.

A source close to Lee said in an interview that she has been offered a huge pay packet for appearing in ads by loan firms.

“After reviewing the companies, Lee has decided not to take up the offer,” the source said. “She even rejected a renewal of her contract with a credit card company because she was heartbroken by the difficulties that young people face.”

Lee is currently shooting for the drama, “Saimdang, the Herstory.”

photo640890.jpg

photo640889.jpg

"They have lots of snacks thanks to fall. The granny in our neighborhood gave us sweet potatoes and the village chief gave us corn. Walking around the village gives us a good feel of the village. All the neighbors say hello and talk to one another. It's also thanks to Seung-gon and Seung-bin who say hello loudy to their elders. There is another family of doctors who wanted to raise their children in nature and there's another family that's here for their child's health".

"I want time to slow down to 0 km per hour. However, I want time to speed up to 200 km per hour when I'm working. I just want the drama to be a perfect one".

More pictures can be seen in the October issue of JLOOK.

Meanwhile, Lee Young-ae is currently in the middle of making "Saimdang, the Herstory" as Seo Ji-yoon.
