Aug 3, 2013 by melodiamuse

Table tennis coach Hyun Jung Hwa revealed that she is a fan of idol group JYJ.

Hyun Jung Hwa appeared on the episode of KBS 2TV’s ‘Generation Agreement Saturday’ that aired on the 3rd and was asked, “Are there any idols you like?”

Hyun Jung Hwa said, “There are lots. Can I talk about them?” She blushed as she said, “I’m starting to sweat.” Saying she shares an interest in INFINITE with her daughter, Hyun Jung Hwa confessed, “I especially like JYJ.” She added that she is a big fan of Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu, even listing their names as she talked about them.

The other guests on the show smiled and said, “She’s suddenly sweating a lot,” and comedian Jung Sung Ho made the joke, “You must have been so disappointed to see me instead of them.”

Among celebrities, I'm close to JYJ Kim Jaejoong. Jaejoongie hyung. We drank together in Christmas 2-3 years in a row. We had lived together in the same house. I don't think about Jaejoongie hyung as my rival. Hyung is honest and confident. If you pretend to be strong, people will know because it's conspicuous. But he's definitely not like that.

Aug 5, 2013 by melodiamuse

downloadfile-2.jpg?w=820

When will we be able to see JYJ on TV again? Though they’ve continually released new music, we have never seen them on any major music program, and we’ve yet to see them on a variety show, which are now deemed the best source of advertisements for idols. Even nameless rookies and old actors appear on variety shows, something JYJ can’t do. The voice of the fans requesting their appearance on shows is met with silence.

But a new and recent movement in the industry is grabbing the attention of many. The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) came to a verdict on the 24th of July that found SM Entertainment (SM) and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Arts Industries (KFPCAI) guilty of interfering with JYJ’s broadcasted appearances and activities as singers.

According to the FTC, once the three former members of TVXQ left SM and formed JYJ, releasing their first album in October, 2010, SM and the KFPCAI agreed to stop JYJ from appearing on broadcasted programs and from distributing their music. They then sent an official notice to 26 licensees in the industry. Afterwards, JYJ faced a number of limitations in their activities and they were not even included on the rankings of major music programs. Since submitting their exclusive contract nullification injunction against SM in 2009, JYJ fought a long and hard legal battle against the agency, and the two parties came to an agreement in November, 2012. With JYJ settling all of their problems regarding their exclusive contract with SM and with the FTC coming to a verdict that favored the group, many expected to see JYJ on TV in the near future.

However, the three major broadcasting companies have not budged since the FTC’s verdict on the 24th of July. SBS, KBS and MBC’s variety sectors, that are in charge of their respective music programs and variety shows, are not saying much about the possibility of JYJ appearing on their shows. This is not that different from the stance they had before JYJ’s settlement with SM.

Why is this so? Requests flooded in for responses from the three major broadcasting companies regarding the possibility of JYJ appearing on broadcasting shows. But the responses that were given were tepid and circuitous, with each and every representative strangely asking for anonymity.

When asked about JYJ’s possible appearance on ‘Music Bank’ or any of KBS’ variety shows, a high-ranking representative of the KBS variety sector stated, “Inviting celebrities is the job of the PD. We do know that the FTC have laid down a correction order. For now, we can only make theoretical assumptions about the case. That’s all we can say for now.” A representative of ‘Music Bank’ stated, “Their side (JYJ) has yet to contact us. We have nothing more to say on the matter,” and “Getting requests from fans on our site is something that always happens whenever a new album is released by a singer.” Since Kim Junsu’s new album was released, his fans have been flooding the homepage of ‘Music Bank’ and KBS with requests for his appearance on the music program.

MBC held a similar stance to KBS. A high-ranking representative in the variety sector stated, “If the program finds it necessary to invite JYJ, a discussion will be held on their appearance, but nothing has been discussed as of now,” while a representative of ‘Music Core’ stated, “We’ve never discussed it because JYJ’s side has never expressed a desire to appear on the show. If they express a desire to do so, we will discuss the matter before coming to a decision.”

When asked about the possibility of JYJ appearing on their programs after the FTC’s verdict, SBS’ variety sector gave the impression that they didn’t really have a firm grasp on the situation as they said, “Does that mean that they can appear on variety shows now? We’ll have to look into it further.”

Almost as if they had made a deal together, the three broadcasting companies have given nothing but circuitous statements regarding JYJ’s future broadcasted activities. All of the representatives who gave their opinions even said, “I’d rather not have my name stated in the article.” Though some of them stated that they had not received contact from JYJ’s representatives, JYJ’s agency stated that they went round all the broadcasting companies to notify them of Junsu’s new album as soon as it was released.

Why are the three major broadcasting companies have such a meek and tepid attitude about JYJ’s future activities? What are the representatives so afraid of that has them asking for anonymity? The suspicion of JYJ’s fans, who want nothing but to see JYJ on TV once more, continues to grow.

The singer-actor also disclosed his firm determination as well. “It will be a fun experience to share feelings with animals. I’ll do my best to present viewers with a soothing time.”

Aug 7, 2013 by melodiamuse

ie001608289_std_59_20130807173502.jpg?w=

“I saw this with my own eyes. I saw JYJ becoming the honorary ambassadors of the Incheon Asian Games. Although the city of Incheon uses JYJ as their global honorary ambassadors, they are trying to hide JYJ from the Korean people. You can’t see neither hide nor hair of JYJ at the music festival held to commemorate the Incheon Asian Games. A commemorative concert without the event’s own honorary ambassadors, this is a global embarrassment.”

This was a SNS post made by a JYJ fan on the 7th. When you read through it slowly, you can feel the rage simmering underneath. Various SNS sites have been filled with posts that say, “We can’t understand why JYJ, the honorary ambassadors of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games’, will not be present at the Hallyu concert held to commemorate the sporting event.”

JYJ’s fans are seething because of this. Though they have been fighting against variety shows and music programs for many years over JYJ’s absence, the situation is a little different this time around. This is because the Incheon Asian Games, a national event, is different from ‘being banned’ from the three major broadcasting companies.

JYJ have been working as the honorary ambassadors of the Incheon Asian Games since February. The committee of the sporting event revealed, “We have decided to choose JYJ, who are very popular in Asia, as the honorary ambassadors of the Asian Games in order to increase awareness and promote overseas.”

Kim Young Soo, the chairman of the Asian Games Committee, was of a similar opinion when he said, “We hope that JYJ’s global recognition will help spread the word about the 2014 Incheon Asian Games to the 4 billion people of Asia.” JYJ also recorded the official cheer song in May and have already participated in official activities as honorary ambassadors.

But their names have been excluded from the guest list of the Hallyu concert that will be held on the 1st of September to commemorate the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. If the singers who are the honorary ambassadors of the event can’t appear in the concert, then who can?

“The PR department, in charge of all activities of the honorary ambassadors, did ask if JYJ would be appearing in the concert”

ie001608287_std_59_20130807173502.jpg?w=

The list of 20 groups expected to perform at the concert includes 2AM, A-JAX, B.A.P, BTOP, EXO, FT ISLAND, miss A, ZE:A, Girls’ Day, BTS, Boyfriend, B2ST, Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, SECRET, SISTAR, MBLAQ, KARA, T-ara and TEEN TOP. Most of the groups on the list are from SM and JYP, prominent entertainment agencies in Korea. Girls’ Generation’s Yuri and Tiffany will emcee the event.

With the official title of ‘the 2013 Incheon Hallyu Tourism Concert’, this event will be hosted by the City of Incheon and the 2013 Incheon Asian Games committee, broadcasted by MBC and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Starting in 2009 as ‘To The Korean Music Wave’, this will be the fifth planned concert of the series. The concert will be supervised by HH Company, run by comedian Lee Hyuk Jae, the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation and the Incheon Times.

Regarding the guest list, a representative of the Committee’s Cultural Events sector stated, “The list is not set in stone,” and “From what I know, the details are still being ironed out.” When asked about the appearance of honorary ambassadors JYJ, they replied, “The PR department, in charge of all activities of the honorary ambassadors, did ask if JYJ would be appearing in the concert.”

Simplified, this implies that the activities of the honorary ambassadors and the appearance in the concert are handled by two different departments, meaning that they are being dealt with as two different issues. If the PR department had to go so far as asking about JYJ, this could be seen as saying that their appearance has not been discussed with HH Company at all.

Also, the committee representative emphasized that the guest list was not confirmed. One wonders if 20 teams will actually be able to perform at a concert that goes from 7p.m. to 9:30p.m.. Though it’s said that this will be the fifth concert of the series, last year’s concert by HH Company and MBC Music was cancelled one week ahead of the concert due to various rumors, receiving the ire of Hallyu fans who were planning to attend the event.

Entertainment agencies are able to exclude honorary ambassadors from the guest list?

On the 24th of July, the Fair Trade Commission found SM Entertainment and the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Arts Industries guilty of interfering with JYJ’s broadcasted appearances and activities as singers. Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun and Kim Junsu left TVXQ in 2009 and formed JYJ, but were blocked from appearing on broadcasted shows by SM in 2010 whe the agency sent a notice to 26 licensees in the industry.

Common sense dictates that there should be no issues anymore surrounding JYJ’s appearance on broadcasted programs. Considering the fact that JYJ’s Park Yoochun helped raise the viewership of KBS’ ‘SungKyunKwan Scandal’, even taking him to the broadcasting company’s end-of-the-year awards, KBS should ‘logically’ be the first to break the dam.

In reality, there seems to be something that is above the FTC’s verdict and the Asian Games’ committee. The fact that the Asian Games’ own honorary ambassadors can’t perform as singers at a concert under the sporting event’s name is not only illogical, but also terrifying as it shows that the ‘silent but deadly’ force of large-scale entertainment agencies still dominates the pop culture industry.

JYJ’s shackles have been highlighted by the FTC’s verdict, and many are curious to see if this ‘unlawful’ wind will further affect the activities of the Incheon Asian Games’ honorary ambassadors.

Regarding the ’2014 Incheon Asian Games Commemorative Hallyu Concert’ controversy, JYJ’s agency C-JeS Entertainment stated, “We’re waiting for the final statement of the committee.”

Since February, JYJ have been acting as the honorary ambassadors of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games’. However, when it was discovered that their names were not included in the guest list of the September 1st ‘commemorative concert’, a controversy arose on whether JYJ are being blocked from appearing on a broadcasted program yet again.

C-JeS stated, “Rather than coming to a hasty decision, we will wait for the final statement of the committee.” The representative stated, “We have submitted a formal objection regarding this issue. A misunderstanding arose when the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation, who are in charge of inviting singers to perform at the concert, notified the committee that, ‘JYJ declined their invitation’. We set the record straight that we have never received an actual invitation to perform at the concert. We have been told that the committee will verify the truth of the situation by tomorrow.”

They continued to add, “The committee is of the official stance that JYJ’s domestic and overseas promotions for next year’s sporting event will begin in September. We will await the committee’s final decision.”

The current guest list of the Hallyu concert features a total of 20 teams including Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, KARA, SISTAR and miss A.

Posts of protest are flooding social networking systems regarding JYJ’s exclusion from the ’2014 Incheon Asian Games Commemoration Hallyu Concert’, despite the fact that they are the honorary ambassadors of the sporting event.

One Twitter user sent a tweet to Song Young Gil, the mayor of Incheon, (@Bulloger) and said, “Are you aware of the fact that JYJ, the honorary ambassadors of the Incheon Asian Games, weren’t even invited to the upcoming commemorative concert?” and “Even though they had never been invited to the concert, the committee submitted a false report that JYJ declined their invitation.”

img_20130808085903_13a68bce.jpg?w=820

According to the argument made by this Twitter user, JYJ’s names were excluded from the ’2014 Incheon Asian Games Commemoration Hallyu Concert’, that will be held on the 1st of September, despite being the honorary ambassadors of the sporting event, and the decision was made by the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation, who are in charge of inviting celebrities to perform at the concert.

The current guest list for the concert features 20 teams including 2AM, miss A, Girls Day, B2ST, Girls’ Generation, Super Junior, SISTAR, SECRET, KARA and T-ara.

JYJ’s agency C-JeS Entertainment stated that they have filed a formal objection regarding the controversy and stated, “A misunderstanding arose when the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation, who are in charge of inviting singers to perform at the concert, notified the committee that JYJ declined their invitation. We set the record straight that we have never received an actual invitation to perform at the concert. We have been told that the committee will verify the truth of the situation by tomorrow (8th).”

Hearing about his controversy, Mayor Song stated, “I, too, hope for JYJ’s appearance at the concert but I was notified by the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation that the line-up issue is being dealt with by MBC. I will make sure to check on the situation with the representatives of the Incheon Development and Tourism Corporation and the committee of the Asian Games.”

[Partial translation about Jaejoong]

My first impression when I met JJ is not about his sex appeal…
If you really meet him, what you will see is
how gentleman he is…
someone who has a sense of responsibility…
pays careful attention to things/people around him…
has the charisma that draws people to him…
someone whose heart is full of love for his fans…

That’s his charm.

(T/N: The gist of Hayato-san’s blog update is only believe what JYJ says).

[WHOLE TRANS]

I don’t believe

Those guys whom I know
The Jaejoong that I know
The Yoochun that I know
The Junsu that I know
Thus, these rumors that have been spilling around…makes me remember the discomfort

I don’t believe

I don’ think I know of those guys’s (JYJ) decision
I wonder if it’s okay with them??? (T/N:Hayato-san is saying that even he doesn’t know JYJ’s decision)
Until they themselves reveal the truth, I won’t believe it

I have been seeing the 3 of them
That is why, I have been supporting them
That is why, I can understand why all of you love them.

The first time I met Jaejoong, my first impression was
His ambiguous sex appeal…??? Not that
But really, when I meet him and talked to him, I think you’ll know
The first impression, is definitely not his appeal
The kindness of a man
Sense of responsibility
Taking care of the people around him with modesty
The ability to make the people around him drawn and captivated of him
He was never greedy and had always cherish the fans with a heart full with love than others
That is his charm
To talk about him without feeling those things (charms of Jaejoong)
If you’ve experienced the joy and sorrow of the past 4 years with them with the three of them especially
What they’ve been wishing for
I think they know what their fans have been wishing for

The rumor that is being spread now is not the goal that they wish for

Even so, if it is indeed the reality, there must be reason that we could understand

Until they tell the truth themselves…I won’t believe
