yeah, these hosts are experts in sweet talking..no wonder a lot of girls are caught in their "sweet games"..I remember Issei saying that he wanted to fall in love and eventually settle down, but he has a phobia in trusting someone..ryouma also said about not knowing how to fall in love any more..really sad for them, it seems that they are also trapped in their own game..they all wanted to stop but can't do it (yet)..

just finished watching "great happiness." okay, i agree with everyone that chick that kept saying she'll invest in him, and all that, shes PSYCHO. i couldnt help laughing when he said she one of those scary, weird customers that he didnt like. oh, that customer that kept saying he was a failure as a host, i was like SHUTTT UPPP!

I feel bad for Issei because he doesnt know how to trust anyone anymore, esp. women. But I'm happy that hes optimistic in love, that he has that thinking he'll find someone, fall in love, but its hard. knowing that there are chicks are out there, like the psycho one that cling to him. hahaha.

thanks aionooff! :)

wow i havent been here in a while but it only grew 2 pages!

Answering that random height question. xD

177 centimeters = 5.80708661 feet

170 centimeters = 5.57742782 feet

and for me!

158 centimeters = 5.18372703 feet

.... T____T

170cm = 5'7", its my height so i know. bleh.

ai0no0ff great minds think alike :D

man.. these hosts have perfect eyebrows, do they do it theirselves or get it done somewhere ?! i try tweezing my eyebrows to be pointy and semi-thin lik theirs (except theirs is extra thin, we all know that) but ugh, i fail!

Finally finished the documentary, thanks ai0no0ff! Yes, that woman is indeed crazy, dang she even left her fiance for Issei. Lol, even Issei said she's a freak. At the end, the all look so tired. I feel bad for them, I never knew being a host is all hard work. I respect and appreciate their profession more.

candydive.: Are you sure you're not taller than 170 cm? xD I usually don't trust my calculations much but in this case, it's totally different because I goggled it. @____@

I typed in on goggle "170 cm in ft" and I got 170 centimeters = 5.57742782 feet. xD But hey! This means you're taller in cm that you thought you were. xDD

Oh gawd... I just thought of something corny. When I heard Ryouma say he doesn't know how to fall in love anymore, I was like "I'LL TEACH YOU HOW TO LOVE AGAIN!!" Oh boy... xDDD

ryouma = teh secks :D

i think we'll all teach him how to love again!

yup yup, i'm 5'7". my doctor has even told me my height in both inches and centimeters.

2.54 cm = 1 in

5 feet = 60 inches

60 + 7 = 67 inches.

67 in * 2.54 cm = 170.18 cm

Just now noticed this thread... Seems that hosts are becoming more popular towards foreigners as of recent.

I have been living in Osaka, Japan for almost a year now and have been intrigued by these beautiful men that are often seeing working around the Minami area where I work as well (I am a bartender at a dance club). I was introduced to a manager of a host club in the area by one of my friends and we actually began dating (not a customer relationship). We are still technically together but it's becoming quite difficult because he is number 2 in his club and only has one day off a week which is when he usually goes to visit his family. Through knowing him, and also the dance club I used to work at attracted a lot of hosts as customers (we had para-para night, etc.) I was able to meet and make friends with hosts from various different clubs as well as this may sound incredibly concieted but winning the heart of the owner of Club Arakure.

Lets just say that I probably know a lot more about the business and clientel than I should as well as knowing the real names of certain hosts lol.

To clear up some confusion about costs of a club, etc. It really depends...

On your first time to the club, when you walk in you are greeted with a really loud "IRASSHAIMASSE!" or "WELCOME!" by all the boys in the club. You are taken to your seat, you may not choose your own. Typically you will be sat as far away from other clients as possible. Once seated, you will be handed an oshibori (wet towel) and asked what you would like to drink. A lot of clubs, for the first time entering one you will be offered nomihodai (all you can drink) for a certain amount of time often just being of shochu sometimes beer and cocktails. If you have not contacted with anyone from that club before going there then you will likely be given a boy menu which is like a photo album with pictures and information on all the boys working in that club. Most clubs will serve you what I like to call a "man buffet" where at your seat about every 10mins a the boys sitting with you will rotate so you can see a fresh face. It is often for a boy sitting with you to ask if he can drink. If you have the nomihodai policy then he will likely drink your shochu which will cost nothing, but if not then you will likely be paying 1000yen ($10.00) per drink he has. After your time is up, you will be asked to choose one of the boys that had sat with you and then he will become your host. After you choose him, he will bring you your bill and offer to carry your bag for you as he escorts you to the elevator and out on to the street. From there it is his job to exchange e-mails and phone calls with you encouraging you to come back to see him and have drinks with him, etc. Choose wisely, because a lot of clubs will NOT allow you to change your host EVER unless if something happens like he gets fired/quits, etc.

Most clubs, for the first time fee it usually will run anywhere from 1yen to 2000yen for 1-2 hours, all you can drink and no tax.

If you visit that club again, most clubs run about 2500yen for 1 hour + 1000yen per drink + 20% tax.

Some clubs do offer a thing called "Free Time" which usually costs about 5000yen. Free Time basically means you can stay as long as you want. All drinks are still 1000yen and tax will remain the same.

You can buy a kept bottle that will cost anywhere from 5000yen to 10000yen which is basically a bottle of Hennessy, Shochu, etc. that they tag with your name and if you don't finish it, they save it for you for when you return again.

Most clubs will offer Cafe De Pari as their house champaign which costs about 1500yen ($15.00) in a regular store but they mark it up to 10000yen ($100.00) or more depending on the club. They also often carry different types of champange but the price will increase.

A champaign call can be done as well... Where you pay about $100.00 to have all the hosts in the club surround your table. The lights are usually turned off at the point and they play some oboxious tech-para music and turn on green lasers or a strobe light and kind of chant along as THEY drink your bottle. Yes, that is what you paid for. Before you know it, within about 5 minutes your bottle is empty. I guess it leaves some girls satisfied?

They do have V.I.P rooms which often cost more than a regular seat. A V.I.P room offers you privacy from other customers as well as karaoke, etc.

All clubs hold certain events. Birthday parties for boys that work at the club, christmas parties, valentines, parties, etc. Depending on the club and the event, some clubs will actually charge more for these events.

Something to keep in mind. A lot of the hosts that work for different clubs are friends, as well as the managers and owners of clubs keep close relations with managers and owners of other clubs. So keep in mind that if you frequent various different clubs that it may become noticed. It is also not uncommon to see a host from another club stopping into a different club to have a drink, but this usually happens during events.

You can go on dates with your host, this is called DOHAN. But the chance of him going on a date with you depends on how often you go to his club, how often you spend, etc. Likely a date with your host is an agreement, that he will take you out, say to dinner or karaoke or something. Once finished, then you are required to visit his club and spend either the same amount or more at his club.

Anyways... If anyone wants more information, feel free to ask.

^ lol, poor guy in the right is covered by logo.

They shave around their eyebrows to shape them and then they cut the hair really short, so it's actually just pokey hair.

DEEP no longer exists. I was friends with their Daihyou (face of their club) before Aiba Takahiro (a.k.a Mikami Kakeru). All the boys currently work for the sister club GENJI. The guy on the right, Misaki was fired a long time ago.

so how exactly do you become one of these host boy? is it just like any job, where you can go an apply or do you have to have the "look" and "charm"??? j/w

It's like any job that you can typically go and apply for and have an interview. Hosts also do "scouting" during the hours that their clubs are closed. Scouting is basically standing around on the streets and looking for decent looking guys and just randomly approaching them and trying to get them to work for your club. I believe that most hosts are scouted into the business.

Yay! Glad to see that a few of you have finished watching the documentary XD

taehyunjin: Whoa! That was a lot of info. Thanks so much for writing all of that. Ooh! You know Eren? (read that from the Hot Japanese Boys thread. Haha!)

So whatever happened to DEEP? Why did it close down? I was wondering why I couldn't find their club name at HOST ♥ HOST, but then I found out about Club GENJI.

I actually have a picture of Eren, Kakeru and my friend at a foreigner bar in Osaka... But it's on my old phone that is burried deep in some box since I moved.

DEEP closed after Oct. 31st. I don't believe that any of the customers were informed about it. The owner has always seemed to be more focused on GENJI and the daihyou (face of the club) Mitsurugi Rei, especially after he fired Mikami Kakeru in April of last year (he was the daihyou for DEEP). I am assuming that it's because DEEP's turnover was huge and they didn't do enough sales. Most customers were hoping for a renewall of DEEP and that the boys going over to GENJI would only be temporary, but instead he is using the same shop that DEEP was in and is turning it into a new club (according to his mixi).
