SpoilerPardon the confusion, if I caused it.
The drama is actually an original screenplay based on factual historical figures, although Yu Zheng did say (in an interview) he aims to promote the pre-Qin to Qin dynasty, its culture and magnificence through this drama, and is taking reference from an encyclopedia of early Chinese literature, titled "Master Lü's Spring and Autumn Annals" 《吕氏春秋》.
Historically, there was a renowned triangular love entanglement, and this is what Yu Zheng is trying to present via Nie Yuan, Wei Yingluo and Mao Zijun. And, as history has it, we know who she ended up marrying, Mao Zijun's character, not Nie Yuan's, although that alone does not mean her true love is with Mao Zijun. I'm curious to see how Yu Zheng will fuse truth and fiction and present another drama of excellent entertainment value. Perhaps?
Also, we could already see the explosive chemistry (just from the teaser, and perhaps due to the aftermath of Yanxi) between Nie Yuan and Wei Yingluo. I hope there will be an equally, if not better, 'chemical reaction' lol between Wei Yingluo and Mao Zijun. I do wonder how it would be like if Yu Zheng has chosen Xu Kai (aka Fu Heng) instead of Mao Zijun for this role... haha.

True. No one knows Yu Zheng could offer a big hit after all that plagiarism mess he was in. He is really fortunate to emerge from it in good form, and more fortunate to achieve a hit in Yanxi which I don't think anyone had envisioned was forthcoming. But the acclaim is all duly earned, no less due to an excellent cast. My fave is still Empress Fucha
. Perhaps also due to the similarity and delayed broadcast of Ruyi. And, if they wanted to satisfy the public and fans, why not bring back Fu Heng with Wei Yingluo? Haha. Yup. My wishful thinking. >_<
Nie Yuan, Wei Yingluo and Mao Zijun (and a few others) are all main leads. We'll see how the drama will end for them. I'm keeping an open mind.

I tried to search the chinese articles but the one i read only mention which dramas would have their no of episodes extended. And there's no further details.
I don't even get the reason why this happened. I thought in the past the chinese tv dept prefer the dramas to be shorter. So puzzling.
The no of affected dramas are alot....around 10....even Ming Lan Story starring Zhao Liying is affected.
Without details...just based on gut feelings, i don't think all these actors would go back to film extra episodes and the sets would have been demolished by now.
Most probably is the dramas originally have extra scenes....by editing, they "create" extra episodes.
I scanned through some C-news and weibo accounts. I can't recall exactly where I read that bit. I barely remember it was from a crew member. If I can find it, I'll post here.
Btw, your theory sounds probable. That could be the case for the supporting cast, perhaps. I hope Yu Zheng isn't going to puff up with whatever he has. That would be quite disastrous, IMHO, since there are almost 20 eps of extension. Why should they film that much extra? Esp. with a budget in mind? I think some additional filming is perhaps needed and is not uncommon. It has happened before anyway.

No wonder there's a delay and a need to reschedule. There's an extension to the number of episodes - from 45 to 63. The whole crew and cast have gone back to filming! Whoa! :0

According to iQiyi, the delay is due to reshuffling of schedule. The new premiere date will be given separately, at another time.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's true and it's sad. So many rumors floating online. I find it hard to believe that the premiere could be officially released to be 11-15 and yet, just a day or two prior, it could be canceled and put on hold for a long time. It's rumored to be on hold till late 2019. Argh. I guess the truth will surface some day.

Yes, a very big con for this drama is the lack of star power. It's premiering 7-19 on iQiyi. There's also word that Ruyi will probably air in August, but aiming for satellite cable as well as online streaming. I think if Ruyi really airs in August, it may bury Yanxi. Hope not.

6. The hospital fight that seals PSH as a bonafide fighter. Smooth moves well done.

9. Their very first meeting in the park, after a separation of years. KRW patted PSH's head and she reacted with self-defense moves. KRW was prepared too. Btw, I love this character, Yoo Hye Jung, a lot. "One in a million. Once in a lifetime." indeed. Yoo Hye Jung was one of the rare portrayals of a gal and one of the limited brilliant writings thus far. So spunky, so uplifting, so surreal. And yes, so beautiful and capable too! PSH was indeed well-casted for the role. (So was KRW. And the other castings). Yoo Hye Jung seems to be calling out for a rewatch... perhaps? lol.
PS: I wonder why Oh Hae Young Again didn't make it pass the prelim round. I love Oh Hae Young a lot too

OMGoblin! It's been quite a while since I've been so excited about the premiere of any drama. Having watched it(ep1), I'm even more excited and enthralled! This is just too well-produced and well-performed! The script goes without saying since it's from a prolific writer I already love. The casting of the main leads is superb too! Wowee! How often does a drama fan get to watch 2 powerhouse hottie male actors(GY+LDW) and an uniquely superb and beautiful actress(KGE) in the same drama? All round brilliance! Team Goblin crew+cast, keep it up! JJANG! JJANG! JJANG! This is a MUST-WATCH
This drama is 'killing me' from ep 1, really! By the finale ep, I guess we'll see many 'stone dead' or 'deliriously happy' campers LOL
But perhaps not just because of the drama's development and ending, but because of the Lonely & Great God GY? Or the God of Death LDW? Also, I was at first quite hesitant about KGE being the female lead, but having seen ep 1, I'm sold! She's a perfect pick! YIN hasn't shown her face yet (ep 1). So, I'll leave my take on her for later.

OMG! So this pairing has become real? not surreal anymore! Wow! I could not have imagined it to be true, seeing how shy LSW is and also how reserved KSY is. I also did not know LSW is actually a year older than KSY. Funny that I thought KSY is the noona here.
Anyway, I really like them as a couple. They are so compatible in so many ways. They look and feel so good for each other. This couple is definitely looking like a synergistic couple in the making. I wish them well and hope they will end up as a married couple and love on forever. What a power couple they will make!

Hello Patients! Gosh... I'm so so so lost in these flying pages. I wanna surrender cos I can't catch up, but I can't let go either!
I'm so way behind, I won't talk about the eps. But I look forward to a good resolution between YD and SW, hopefully they can end up together. YD is so darn cute(this actor has slipped my radar, but not anymore, I'm gonna keep a tab on him hehe), growing on me ep by ep, and SW is getting saner and I won't be surprised if she'd be the one to protect HJ from her evil scheming dad. I would also love it if SH can end up with YG. So, YD and YG, you guys better wake up and go for the right flower girl in the field, rather than pining for that pretty flower who's already in someone else's vase or looking to end up there.
Most of all, this OTP still makes me as dizzy as when they started being at odds and sparring. Don't they just get better and better? I can't vouch for staying sane when they do give us a bed scene or another smexxy kiss scene.... dare we hope? Ohhh just thinking about the possibility is putting a smile on my face, and ermmm wild imagination, yeogiseo jeoleul seondo?
