seriously though, that "silly squid" again? lol i knew this kdrama would make an appearance here but this quick was unexpected. NOT my #1, absolutely NOT. in fact, i'm so sad for other more deserving kdramas that should have made it to the top or should have had more eyeballs because they were better, had better plotlines, messagings and cinematographies and so on... BUT okay, the world is changing, and much has changed.

Why not just lol? Watch it with a happy heart and just laugh it off. It's fictional anyway, although it's very true to life in many ways. I don't think it will extend beyond season 3.
It's true that there are many "unbelievable" and "laughable" aspects in the script, and even more "unbelievable" support for cheaters and mistresses. Still, everyone sees with their own lens and it's everyone's prerogative to believe in what they want to believe in.
As for the writer, whether she's good in her craft or not, it's still kudos to her for being able to "emote" or "provoke" so many viewers. And even "laugh all the way to the bank" with her writing.

With the way it ended season 2, in a lol mess, season 3 will be in the making. I can't believe TV Chosun or NF (or even Writernim Phebe, as good in makjang as she may be) will leave it at that.
I'm in LOVE AGAIN.

One is married until one goes through the divorce, legally. Not when either spouse thinks it's over and start claiming their freedom as if they are single again. SH slept with SW when he was still married. They committed adultery and they both knew they did. Why else would SW want to try to be holier-than-thou and not let SH divorce his wife, and instead opt to "bear the baby" alone? Why would SH asked his parents to buy mistress SW an apartment?
As for SH's parents, I love them as an older married loving couple, but when they started hovering over and pampering their son's mistress/grandkid-bearer and even go as far as to disregard their still legal DIL BHR, I started to dislike them. Writernim messed up big time here. How could any believer in Confucian teachings behave the way they did?

Yeah, why not? Let's see if anger management issue is worse than adultery and having an illegitimate child. Who knows, BHR could have acquired anger management issues because of SH and his behavior. As of now, no one knows. One thing's for sure though, neither BHR nor SH would emerge as the winner. In fact, they would both be losers. As of now, BHR is the only loser in this game of marriage and divorce. The stigma of being a divorcee still stinks badly where they are. Is it any wonder she would try to salvage her dignity and protect herself by doing what she did at the presscon?

I'm so jazzed up after watching Ep 14's BHR's presscon, her ex-in-laws reaction, SH and SW's reaction, and her call to her ex-FIL, that I had to chip in now lol: The BEST segment to me.
Random thoughts after watching thus far:
How could anyone, any sisterhood, any woman/man, be bashing BHR for betrayal?
After all, she was spilling the TRUTH. She is a celeb. Should anyone be surprised that she is as adept at playing the media as she is at role-playing?
If you are one of them, have you forgotten these:
Who stepped out of line first?
Who caused the hurt and heartache?
Who wrecked the union of their marriage?
Who was first against the adultery and divorce, and then was all for it?
Who had that holier-than-thou attitude yet was the one who coveted someone's husband and family?
Who continued to deceive despite having agreed to work on saving the marriage and trying for a baby?
I could go on and on...
And a reporter asked the perfect question:
Any married person who committed adultery stepped out of line. Period.
Any single, unmarried person who coveted someone's spouse committed adultery. Period.
Such irresponsible behavior MUST NOT be CONDONED.
It's NEVER the wife/spouse's fault to begin with.
It's NEVER about anything lacking in the wife/spouse.
It's NEVER about the wife/spouse's looks, disposition, skills, etc.
It's the adulterer's CHOICE to NOT UPHOLD their oath and the sanctity of their marriage.
It's the adulterer's CHOICE to NOT WAIT until the dissolution of marriage through divorce first.
It's the adulterer's CHOICE to KNOWINGLY DISREGARD the existence of a wife/spouse/family.
It's the adulterer's CHOICE to KNOWINGLY WRECK a marriage/family with/without kids.
It's as simple as that.
If you are married, don't step out of line, don't disregard the sanctity of your marriage.
If you are single, don't covet someone's spouse, don't wreck someone's marriage/family.
We should try to:
Watch each other's backs.
Wish each other well in life.
Win the World together.
(For ex. fight injustices, stop racial hate, etc.)

It's an inspirational, women-centred drama, and so true to life! I love it and recommend it in a heartbeat!

@Sleepy Owl Thanks for tagging. The O games are truly special and spectacular. I could not watch as much as I would like during this current O games, but reading about the ups and downs of some of it is just as good an alternative for me. While I never dreamed of participating in any, knowing full well how hard that would be - yup, like winning a lottery, perhaps? lol - I do enjoy watching the spirit of competition being kept alive, over and over again. And when I feel that spirit, fond memories of watching the O games flow again, and the best part of it was that it would bring me back to my days of competitive sport. The only few competitive sports I participated in and was lucky enough to represent my schools were badminton, volleyball and air-rifle. Those wonderful competitive days made me want to ditch the workplace and go back to school again haha.
On that note (of O games and sports), one movie I'd recommend to everyone, if you haven't watched it and like sport-related show, is Leap. It's available at Viki.com (for a fee) and several other streaming sites. It was an interesting and exciting watch for me.

Loving this sisterhood drama laced with workplace and romance snippets. Reminds me of "Nothing But Thirty" or "Ode to Joy," though not as good as those were, at least not just yet.
*SPOILERS*
My brief random thoughts about the 5 FLs:
I love all of them!
SpoilerI was beginning to root for Xiaoyu and Liangzhou, and thought they look awesome together, but she went back to her ex-bf Peng Pai after his seemingly sincere pleas and offer of materialism. I don't feel good about this union. Let's see how they pan out.
I like housewife-blogger Si Meng, but thought she handled the husband/intern matter poorly. It did show her eagerness to get out of a marriage "damaged by infidelity" (proven otherwise later), though I wouldn't fault her for not trusting her husband when she saw what was shown to her. Her husband, Shijun, seemed honest and upright, but his attitude towards a working wife vs a full-time homemaker is so undesirable, yet that's quite the mindset of many traditional-minded men, even in this modern era. I hope the family will stay intact because there was no infidelity, and their kids are so cute. Btw, that shameless, scheming intern Wei Lan is simply a "POS!" who shouldn't be let off easily.
I did not feel good about the pairing of Bao Xue with designer Songyang when I saw how his adrenalin needed to be peaked in extreme sports. It really was not easy for Bao Xue to deal with the anxiety and I wouldn't blame her for giving him the ultimatum - quit extreme sports or her.
I guess the future coupledom of manager Feng Xi and chef Henan is the pairing I am most excited about right now. It was such a good riddance when Fengxi's bf asked for the breakup. I was seriously jumping up with joy when that happened. The minute that he did not factor Fengxi into his future plan was when I wished Fengxi would wake up from her dream. Yes, it was a decade-long dream, but it's better late than never to realize what would not work than to hang on and regret even more later.
Lastly, I can't say enough about Shanshan. I thought she is such a cool and level-headed sisterhood character, despite her own setback in marriage. I love how different (but still beautiful) she looks with her hair down or with her hair tied up. I wish there'd be a good man in the line up for her. That artist/craftsman (forgot his name) just felt more like a mentor to me but perhaps he meant more to Shanshan than I'd have preferred. I love that impromptu instrumental piece the whole group played in one of the scenes.
In essence, I'm enjoying another good project from renowned director Feng Xiaogang. The FLs featured are not from the regular working class per se, but are from a middle-upper stratum. Their struggle in life and love seems realistic. I love the movie-like cinematography. It's a good watch for sure.

I love ALL 3 wives! I love PY the most, except for her treatment of her mom; I love BHR, too, except for her inability to control her anger; and I love SE as well, except for her self-piteous, Confucius-era mindset (though not all bad, just the patriarchy ideology is undesirable to me), and god-righteous way of undermining herself. The latter two ladies are for another post or two some other time.
Back to PY. She's a victim of a cheater husband, a very smooth and sneaky one. Besides, how she treats her mother is not a marital issue, let alone that to her understanding, she has good (albeit mistaken) reasons to not like her mother. She is being punished for it now, since there was no opportunity for her to have a kumbaya session with her mother before her passing. I believe such a pain is incomparable and unbearable. But that's the "cross" she has to bear for the rest of her life. I, for one, have great sympathy for her, and in fact, for all 3 wives. Or for every wife (or husband) out there who is/was a victim.

Interesting that you (and I believe some others) saw it from that perspective. In contrast, I (and I believe some others too) feel it's not despite his cheating... it's BECAUSE of it. I think you are putting the cart before the horse. He even named his mistress as "Manager Kim" on his cell.
Haven't you seen this scenario played out over and over again, where the so-called "guilty-conscience" of each cheater husband bearing, say, flowers or jewelleries to "assuage" their guilt by pampering their sig other? And their other familial loved ones? YS did all he has to do to remind himself, "I am the perfect husband that no wife can do without, that every wife/mistress would want/covet!" He is psychopathic in being the "dumper" like he did to A-mi, but not the other way around. See how he starts to scramble when PY tells him to be grateful for she is throwing him like a doggone dogbone to his mistress (so tempted to use the "b" word here lol)?

Sure, he takes care of his wife and daughter, and family, Dong-mi. I wouldn't stretch it as "all their needs" though. LOL we know how "needy" but unsatiated stepmom is, don't we? LOL. I just love the way she reacted (or overreacted) to A-mi, instead of PY being the rightful one to feel and behave that way. But for once, I applaud Dong-mi for being so passionate and expending her passion appropriately haha.
PY has a good life while it lasts? How could that be a valid reason for being a victim? Would anyone want to live a good life for a few years and suffer their husband's betrayal in such a secretive and sneaky fashion?
I think a victim of the YS-kind of cheater is the most pathetic and pitiful one of all. I feel so sad for PY, who tries so very hard to be "the best wife in the world."

This sounds ironical to me. Can a marriage still be termed "a good marriage" when there are affairs? And to add insult to injury, "still affairs"? To me (relatively, of course), once a marriage is tainted with an affair, past or ongoing affair, it is no longer a good marriage. Worse if the cheating is serial, i.e. not just once or with just one cheating partner.
No doubt a marriage can be salvaged and both parties can work toward sincerity and trust once again, but that is hardly "a good marriage" though a wrecked marriage can become almost good again: IF the cheating stops, IF the healing succeeds, IF the love remains, and IF mutual trust is upheld.
About PSH, to us viewers, he did make a mistake. A huge mistake. It was not a one-off mistake because he continues to run with it. He is repeating it, consciously and wholeheartedly repeating it. Even repeating it in a rebellious manner. But to he himself, it was not a mistake, it was and is a choice, a conscious and intentional choice. He had already written his wife off and had already shifted his affection and reliance onto SW and his baby.

Again, once there's infidelity, a marriage is no longer good, let alone wonderfully good. Yes, the marriage could have been wonderful, blissful, almost perfect, before the infidelity happened. But once infidelity has tainted the marriage, the "beautiful piece of glass" has already shattered into fragments. Would anyone consider fragments as anything wonderful other than broken? Again, the broken can be fixed and made almost whole with a lot of effort on both sides, if both sides are willing to make the effort.
PSH is not willingly making an effort. Worse, he is still cheating and still deceiving his wife and parents. What a common trait among cheaters!
But I agree. There are many couples crying at night because of infidelity, and many children and loved ones, too. Not forgetting the trauma and stigma that may or may not be permanent.

Hello everyone!
I binged through to the last available ep, and just love this drama to death! Especially love the characters of YH and SR. I'm so happy to see Eugene and Lee Ji Ah (Shin Eun Kyung too) back on the small screen. They are true actresses who can flesh out their roles in amazing ways. AJA! Nice to see Kim So Yeon, too. Another awesome actress, though I don't quite like her role here, it's a good change for her.
Back to the drama, I wish they, YH and SR, will really get their just revenge. That ending bit where YH walks into Hera Palace, whoa!CR: Justme09
It got me (and those watching with me) standing up and clapping for her! lol. That was so satisfying, even just as a viewer. Go YH! Go SR!

crying for JHW only...
The drama was superb though. LOVED IT!
