@yoeda -- that is one super cute dog.. in the original, there is a dog who is almost an important side character but it was rather ugly in my opinion.. wonder if they will use this one instead? -

@stuartjmz ~ bright girl is a happy series. even when there are sad scenes, it doesn't stay sad for too long and instead goes back into comedy. remember watching it with my mom and she said that if it was any other drama, we would be sitting in weepyland because of the storyline at that points. you might like it; in that drama, Jang Nara plays a girl who literally dreams of rescuing her prince, she has no intention of being rescued herself because she is just fine!!!!

being on this thread reminds me of my love for "bright girl's success" which was one of my early kdramas...
both of them were such spunky characters and it had the best unconventional meet between 2 leads -- he falls on her bathtub while he is paragliding! the drama also had a very different ending -- she joins the army to serve 2 years, while he waits for her. that is how it ends.
jang hyuk has done mostly serious stuff but he had fantastic comic timing in this and great chemistry with Jang Nara. keeping my fingers crossed that this drama is a fun watch. [-O<
not 100% sure but think he (or perhaps another Jang Hyuk) sang "love song" which was part of the OST. the MV below is made with that song.
part of the lyrics: "I again protect your smile while I'm not realizing it. Is it because the sorrow behind your smiles are similar to mine? Come to me. Love song, love song, love song to you who made me change...."

understand your point of view.. there were times while watching "fated to love you" made me want to hit her with a book and say "wake up woman!"... but I still enjoyed it despite its flaws and limitations. it felt different and refreshing to watch a character doing stupid things because she has low self-esteem and not because she is a noble idiot who is supposed to be this extreme goody and sacrifices herself for everyone. but as I said, it depends on your style and taste... they will have to customize the drama to suit the korean audience and it should be interesting to watch if Jang Nara also has low self esteem issues.

for those wondering what was the appeal of the original series, "fated to love you"...
here is my two cents.
think the appeal lies not in the guy's character but rather the girl's character. in the beginning, she is woefully used by everyone around her -- colleagues, family, boyfriend... but she is so desperate for love and acceptance that she is happy to do stuff for people even though she knows and is very much aware that they are using her. she knows that she is invisible but is not sure how to go about changing that. she changes because of situations, her willingness to tackle her insecurities and her career as a ceramic artist. there is no magic makeover that makes it happen and her change does not happen overnight. instead, it is a process over time. also she is not super confident by the end and she continues to struggle with her insecurities.
everyone has insecurities and so the appeal for the audience lay in her learning to tackle those emotionally. if you have ever noticed, dramas where women tackle change and evolve to become more confident are always ratings winners. (that is a discussion by itself!) a kdrama example would be the makjang drama "temptations of wife"
found the guy interesting because he is torn between wanting to protect her, being attracted to her and wanting to kick her out of his life because of her family and his girlfriend. so even when he is awful and trying to push her out of his life, he feels guilty and is drawn to her emotional warmth. unlike some dramas where she becomes attractive because of a makeover, the guy is drawn to her from the beginning even when she is frumpy post-it-girl and that is the girl he falls in love with. that was a nice refreshing change unlike lot of dramas where she changes and then he notices her.
the style of the drama may not be for everyone and there are portions which make zero sense and the only response is to just laugh. but even with some of the wacky plot holes, there were moments of emotional vulnerabilities which even the side characters acted out so well that made this drama quite charming.

looking at the first pics -- don't understand why heroines with glasses in dramas always have such awful ones... don't the glasses manufacturers ever want to jump in and show off their products? some of these branded frames can be really quite pricey.. also, not sure why the glasses are also invariably the wrong size ~ if you don't wear glasses, you wouldn't know but these glasses on Jang Nara's face are too big for her -- the perfect size glasses are when you smile and your cheeks have zero contact with them.... bu then again, the only people who notice such details are people who actually wear glasses...

I've been lurking here for a while, never intended to join the forum but some of the videos and screenshots that are out these couple of days got me so excited I just had to post! I've kinda forgotten how fun it was when they were together and how fun it was to watch them together, and now seeing the new footage I can't contain my inner fangirl anymore!

is this drama being supported by some shoe company because Jang Nara is rocking some seriously awesome heels in pretty much all the stills so far.. but really fun to see such happy stills where all the actors seem to be having fun...so with such positive energy, am looking forward to the drama...
@yoeda -- giggles...so are they purposely writing him such athletic comedy scenes to make use of his martial arts skills?...
