  1. Is that blue dress we saw on MiYeon in Mask?

    ooh, good eye!!! :D

but don't understand the twins plot thing... please don't tell me that the story is something on these lines -- both twins like hubby; but hubby ends up marrying twin #1 and having affair with twin #2. twin #1 gets mad and walks away and both sisters get into an accident where twin #2 dies. twin #1 who was pregnant loses baby and is spitting mad at hubby. then fast forward, time jump and then she has amnesia and forgets why she hates hubby....

the reason for hating hubby better not be this above scenario....  :phew:

  2. @irilight ~ you are totally right, even with shorter dramas, it is difficult to sustain the momentum and it is difficult to like every episode. with longer dramas, it can become more difficult and sometimes there are unnecessary fillers. it is easy to ignore the flaws when you watch them week after week because you are sort of hooked and want to know what is happening. but when you are doing a marathon of some of these shows, you start to notice stuff like how they wore the same shirt in another scene which means that even though the scene D is not in sequence to scene A, it was probably shot at the same time to save money and time!! hahahaha...

but didn't realize that this drama is 50 episodes. just hope that it gets subbed. think the only way to really enjoy longer dramas is to just laugh at the illogical and only analyze what is worth looking at. the long dramas can actually be a blast even when it makes no sense if the thread is a party -- a hundred years inheritance was like one of the dumbest dramas but we had so much fun laughing as a thread that it was loads of fun to watch.

@Lmangla, thank you too, for answering. I have not seen 18 to 29, but would like to. I like Ryu Soo-Young.

I have faith in this writer that she will come up with something original with wonderful twitsts. Am I nuts... I have been waiting for a new drama from her ever since Scandal ended....    happy leaf

yea scandal was an awesome drama and we had such a fun time on the thread. it was an experience to remember. :D

@hireshi - better for a passionate feedback than no feedback at all? :D It would be a lot more helpful if you could give specific reasons why you think it sucks though. The reason we moved to this forum is because there were so many broken things with the last forum, and I know that transition always takes time. We really are doing our best to create a better place for people to connect with each other, for what it's worth.

    -s

@soomp ~ would have to agree with hireshi's observation -- the activity does seem down even in the shipping threads which is shocking because people love to spazz. when I do a quick glance at the number of users logged in, it is always significantly lesser than it used to be in the old forum.

folks have already been giving their feedback here but perhaps, it needs to be more consolidated. am not a tech savvy person and so have no idea what makes this new forum better but from an user engagement point of view, this new forum has been extremely frustrating to the point where it is easier to simply lurk. why?

    • tagging someone seems to be this art -- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
    • logging in is iffy -- for the past week or so, I log in twice. the first time I give my ID and it still won't open my account. then I have to click on 'log in' again and it takes me to my account. if you are on the phone, sometimes, it just kicks you out.. if server is having upgrade, users in asia during day are kicked out for hours at a time.
    • mobile users have to lurk -- forget about posting, hitting like or even sending PMs; most of the time, mobile version is happy to let you lurk but doing anything more only if the server is happy
    • folks have already given some long feedback and issues related to quoting and posting and saving drafts etc -- yea, it is a pain to the point where you give up putting a post when it starts acting cranky....
    • the mood seems so ultra serious that if one has nothing to really say, everyone lurks -- this is because of the lack of reaction buttons. it feels like a lecture hall with few folks chatting while the rest of the class simply observes -- the liveliness is missing. even with ultra melodramatic dramas like fated to love you, we had so much fun because there were times when users were insightful, awesome and funny. so the mood would change and accordingly people would spazz. the like button is totally insufficient to inspire people to spazz. instead, you read the comments -- sometimes, hitting like also seems the wrong reaction and so people don't hit the like button either. [for example, if someone is sharing something slightly personal like this has been a terrible month as it is the one year anniversary of their father's death and now this happened on the ship, hitting like is grossly inappropriate for that post]
    • without the reaction buttons, the points and badges seem rather meaningless and so one is not validated enough to keep posting. even emoticon buttons are so few -- where is the fun?
    • it is so glaringly white and ugly which means that many users don't want to hang out for too long because it hurts their eyes. even the id profile which is the only spot of colour is so small and the posts seem to bleed into one another
    • there is no way to check how many unread posts are there which means you have no idea if you have to spend 10 minutes or half hour to catch up. so if you are short of time, you don't even bother to lurk. also, even if you click on that circle to take you to the last unread post, it is iffy -- sometimes, it will jump ahead to the next page and so one has to go back to the previous page to check if there were posts you missed.

so yea, if it wasn't for the fact that I am part of a ship and an active part of another show thread, I would simply stop hanging out here because the new changes have been that frustrating. the fun is not there. :tears:

  5. Hello!

We recently had server issues. They are expected at this stage of the migration. IPB is trying to adjust their resources to our traffic patterns and the process may take some weeks in order for the platform to stabilize. The administration will be sending reports to the server host on a regular basis to make sure we encounter less of these shutdowns.

Some technical issues appeared on the platform with IPB's newest platform patch and we are investigating the matter and bringing fixes.

For # new post indication, we would need to explore external plugins if they exist on IPB.

cool. I really do hope the technical team also explores some external plugins to mimic the reactions buttons. I know realistically that it may not be possible to get the same plugins but it would be great if we can get features that do the same function. In all the threads, people seem to be expressing that it doesn't feel like the same soompi that we used to love without the reaction buttons and so from user engagement, these buttons did make a huge difference in making users feel at home and build communities.

  6. hi ya! you probably know this but the forum was acting all strange today and wouldn't allow folks to log in at all today (asia day)....

the other bug that is weird and happens from time to time is when you click on the star/black dot to read the latest posts, it will jump ahead sometimes and not start from where you read last.. since there is no # of new posts indicated (like in the old forum), we don't realize that we haven't read some posts till you see some conversation referring to something and then have to go and back read.. have been trying to figure out when this exactly happens but it happens rather randomly.... can we have a # of new posts indication?

  7. @Lmangla Are you viewing it under Profile -> Activity Feed? On that page, all like (heart) indicators are shown as 0, though if clicked, it does show the people who did like a particular post. However, it does display correctly under "My Activity" page.

you are right @liddi... though am not sure why the points are still the same as from the old forums. guess it is not sure how to tally the new stuff? or will our points simply stay the same as there are no reaction buttons?

  8. sorry to sound like a broken record but I really do miss the reaction buttons. and so thought the new forum would have some creative plug in that would mimic the same function and create the mood where we can hear others laugh, nod awesome and think insightful... so can I make a suggestion instead ~ noticed that if there are a certain amount of likes, the post takes on a different colour -- think it took on this green background and had some sort of flag thing.. so can we use something like that? as in when we click like, it has a colour option which allows us to choose lol, awesome, and insightful and accordingly the post would take on a certain hue and maybe a flag with a smiley, star, brain shows up -- something like that. then, the background wouldn't be glaringly white (which really is a bother) and folks would have more fun as they can read the mood in the room...

  9. it finished on a good note and even wrapped up the side characters well.
+ really liked how they showed that Yong and Mama Yong are now firmly part of the family and loved the way grandma Wang came swooping in for lunch to give her grandson stature and her stamp as elder of the family -- it does not matter that they are not biologically related but he is still her grandson.
+ even SeRa's mom was so sweet -- she didn't get a brain transplant and all of a sudden say sappy lines. instead, she was in tune with how she was earlier. she was still firm that she was the mom and basically told SeRa to quit whining -- they were still family and it did not change; it was so like the both of them and you can tell that beneath the sweet and sour relationship they have, they love each other and very much a reflection of each other.
+ even the way they progressed Daniel-SeRa's relationship was lovely and logical -- there are no grand gestures and they show that it takes them time to process and accept each other. wish we had seen more scenes with the two of them but still all is well.
+ for a drama that had no little interest in the beginning and all sorts of comments that the two Jangs were way too old and the material was outdated, they have certainly proved the naysayers wrong, even if Fated to Love you may not be everyone's cup of tea. am sure the series will do splendidly overseas markets. thanks for being a cheerful happy bunch all of you -- fun hanging out. :)

  10. ep 19 was fun but felt so much like a filler except for a few good scenes. it would have been nice to see more Daniel-SeRa scenes and how they processed whether they are related to each other. Even a scene with SeRa's confusion would have been nice and instead, it felt like choppy editing. SeRa obviously had no clue that she was adopted and it would have interesting to watch her confusion on what it means to see that girl in the picture.

[just aside: but childhood amnesia is apparently quite real. in another drama we had this whole discussion of how unrealistic plot device it was till one of the posters who was a psychiatrist told us about childhood amnesia and how childhood memories fade as you grow up and then challenged us to remember our earlier childhood memories. you will be surprised to realize how little you do remember and it is possible to not remember certain people/incidents. for example, I know I went to early elementary school with my cousins since my family told me but I actually have no memory of going together.]

the best scene for me was when Gun said thank you to Yong mama and her reaction -- stunned, happy that finally she was acknowledged and accepted -- she is his stepmother and he has completely accepted the choice that his father made.

  11. can I say this?... please don't give me OT!!
am really glad that the kisses in this drama are so tastefully done and the leads don't look they are being devoured by vampires... the whole sucking kisses looks awful on camera in my POV and some of the current dramas have used those to signal passion but here, the director is using the eyes, the character's emotions, the lighting and other factors that even their gentle kiss (like after the fireworks) show so much of passion and intensity.

  12. was away for a few days and too many posts to catch up.. so not sure if this was discussed earlier (so apologies if this is repeat).. but what did folks think of Yong and Mama Yong.. their arcs in the last two episodes were just as fascinating..

+ Mama Yong fascinates me in some ways; not sure about the timeline and how much time she got to spend with Appa (Gun's dad) but it makes more sense now how she really empathized with Mi Young; just like Mi Young fell in love with Gun's kindness but had no real place in the house, so Mama Yong fell in love with Appa for his kindness to her son and more. was she just his caretaker or his mistress? whatever she was, it was clear she had sentimental attachment to him that she kept his diary for years even though it may reveal the secret behind Yong. she perhaps, wanted so badly to be true -- that Appa was the father of Yong and that was what she was really fighting for...
+ it does not seem like a simple transaction where Mama Yong was the front for an affair that Appa hid behind because he felt apologetic to her -- why? because he could not return the attachment? was it the same way where Gun felt comfortable with SeRa and had a friendship where she knew about his disease and could forget his troubles for a while?  Appa could have chosen any number of women who would have been happy to playact for money. but he calls her his caretaker in his diary -- so it wasn't just a cover, he wanted something more? for if you are seriously ill, what kind of people do you want to be surrounded by? someone who shows some kindness? someone who is understanding?
+ it is interesting that Appa wanted to pass on his name to this child Yong even though he wasn't his. he wanted to show love to this child -- was it just kindness? was it love?
+ while she had nothing to gain from handing the diary to Gun, it was lovely that she did it on her free will and not as a ploy. she in a sense was returning his father to him, the way Gun returned the painting to Mi Young....
+ when Yong found out the truth, it was sad to watch. Yong never wanted money or position but was upset because he was losing his family -- grandmother and brother; yet, he takes action and hands his resignation with grace and dignity and his intention to move out. he is not expecting Gun to forgive him or pleads with him to be in the family. so it is lovely when Gun acknowledges Yong as his stepbrother -- was it just his Appa's wishes or that Yong had become the brother he never had?

As I said in another post today I think those divorce documents are laying somewhere and Gun, MY and the lawyer never realized they never signed the same document. MY and Gun both think the other one submitted the documents. I don't think Gun ever looked at the papers MY gave him because he would have known they were not his instructions to the lawyer. Also if there was a signature for Gun he would have also known it was not his signature. MY left the country so the correct documents probably never got to her. I think the wrong that Sera committed will turn out that Gun and MY are still married and what she tried to do didn't go any further then laying somewhere collecting dust.
