  1. I wonder if they will cheat us by having a grey lead. Unless the child dies or she loses custody, she may not go fully villain. They might keep as a bit of a grey character who dabbles with darkness but does not cross over. She has two guys in love with her as well. So who knows if the writer will allow Hye Won to go fully dark... Or they might just continue to pretend that she is good. I was rolling my eyes when she told Chairman Romeo that she only took the CEO position to gain custody and then adds that she will keep her position for the sake of her son. The kid is five and she intends to sit in the chair for the next 20 years to keep the seat warm for him. Pleeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssseeeeeee... Writer-nim, no need to fool the audience. Just say Hye Won is on her way to being full on greedy.
  2. Either it is the craziness of rage or it is pure deflection. Am leaning towards the latter. As Hye Ji and chairman Romeo have noted -- Hye won acts like she is judge, she is most innocent and she is overconfident in her own beliefs. Hye Won stirred up the bee hive when she obsessed over art MIL's death. Even when Ji Chang asked her to let it go, she wouldn't. When he asked her not to use the recorder, she said she would anyway. So he had to step in and his way of controlling the situation was to off Hye Ji. So in some ways, she instigated Ji Chang to do something, anything -- that was the only she was going to accept him or their marriage or the company being uninvolved. If Hye Won thinks about it, she also had a hand to play in the steps Ji Chang took. She wouldn't let him grieve the way he wanted because she was obsessed over her own rage. She didn't care for his thoughts or opinions and pushed him to take action when he didn't want to. So Hye Ji is an easy target to get angry over. Otherwise, she would have to look in the mirror and see the role she played...
  3. the hardworking truck of doom -- that unites couples and repairs all sorts of broken relationships. the therapist that every kdrama character needs but no one appreciates. how sad for the truck and the unknown driver.
  4. I wondered if there was some scene missing -- just like Ji Chang's death, I wondered if there will be some additional scene revealed later that shows her actions more than indirect. Instead, like Ji Eun, she walked away and thus leaving her to die when she could have been saved..... re: @nohamahamoud2002
  5. no. I actively avoid noona romance if it is a short series. these are the main tropes I have seen and they annoy me so much.... #1 -- the lady is super immature twat who hasn't got her life together. so she goes for a younger guy because her peers aren't interested. she then gets frustrated that he is not mature till she realizes that she isn't any better. #2 -- the pseudo mom. he is supposed to be more mature for his age but really he is more like a kid. and she moves into mothering type role. yea, that sounds really romantic. face palm #3 -- the lady is domineering personality and therefore no one wants to be around her except the jolly immature kid. essentially the lady is a loser and she comes down to younger guy because she can't do better -- that is the implied message the only sensible noona romances I can think were in the weekend dramas where they were one of the couples. one had happy ending and other realistic ending #1 -- guy is his in 30s and she is in her 40s. his father owns the publishing company and guy is the lazy entitled son who doesn't have his life together. the lady is one of the top execs in the company and he has always known her. they have a drunken one night stand where she gets pregnant. she decides to keep the baby because this is her only chance of children and shows up unannounced at his house. the father has enough of the son's shenanigans and makes him into the housekeeper and cook to learn responsibilities. initially he is awful but eventually he starts to take pride. in the end, he realizes that he is just not cut out for corporate life and he is more happy to take a backseat to his wife who is ready to lead the company. while it was a 10 year age gap, the personalities meshed. so their pairing made sense. #2 -- guy is mid-20s and she is in her 40s. she is coming out of a divorce and is technically related to him through marriage of one of his brothers. the relationship would be something like aunt. so the family all have meltdowns when they find out these two are attracted to each other and kind of started dating. there is the age gap as well as the family relation. in the end, they break up not because of the opposition but because they realize that they are at different stages of life and they can't break that gap. he is trying to figure out his life and career while she is looking at middle age and what she would like to accomplish by herself. so that realization makes them say a mature goodbye and they leave it at that. 470
  6. 996 it was a hot hot hot day today.
  7. So it was one sided obsessive kind of love. Ah, now Hye Won's behaviour makes sense. Now she transfers that obsession to Ji Chang. I find it interesting that neither of these relationships had much depth. She is very much a solo person in terms of doing things on her own and never letting people in. She didn't value Ji Chang's opinion or his feelings. Similarly with art MIL, she was more offended than MIL on the divorce. She never involved the family to investigate or even shared her findings because this wasn't a two way relationship. Hye Won is someone who does not know how to love or truly have a relationship with anyone. So her going team bad degree by degree is the right path for her.
  8. kekekek... but I never wished for her to end up with Choi Jin Hyuk in that drama....
  9. I just wish they didn't make it like Hye Won was so brave for pursuing the art MIL's death when really it was just grief and rage. I didn't find her particularly brave -- more foolish and not thinking things through. That said, with the change in writer, I think the drama has done away with the pretense that she is good and now, showing her more as a regular flawed human.
  10. My guess is that she was hurt and full of rage over art MIL's death -- perhaps it was driven by grief though the drama didn't do a good job on selling me that these two women had such a deep relationship. I think a person truly driven by justice are far more dogmatic because they apply the need for justice in all situations and not when it is convenient for them. If she really believed in justice, then she would expose Ji Chang's crime but she hasn't. When others asked her to hold off because it would harm YJ and those who worked in the company, she acted like a self-righteous person. When her father asked her to let it go, she couldn't understand him but now she is hiding Ji Chang's action. So I don't buy her justice drive. Hye Won is just selfish -- everything is about her emotions and her needs.
  11. ..... and this shows how Hye Won is a hypocrite and her relentless obsession over art MIL's death was not a fight about justice like she claimed... who knows why she was obsessed... so strange that the station is being tight lipped. something certainly went down!
  12. kekeke... no dramas came to mind and I didn't watch any of the dramas in the poll. generally I drop dramas if I dislike the direction it is going.
  13. @LeftCoastOppa -- I think this will be a drama where everyone is good and bad. No one is truly team good. It will be more interesting if Hye Won leans into team bad because she sucks at being team good hahahaha. I can't figure her motivation out and she comes across selfish, self-centered rather than someone who wants justice. As Chase aptly said, she had no interest in anything besides her own problems. So I don't want the writers to try convince me this chick is good and we should cheer for her. Besides, she looks better in bad mode -- her dress style is sharper and the actress looks more happier acting. Chase would be fun if he is in team bad because he has got a certain edgy style. I find that he and Hye Won have far more chemistry in just a few scenes and have believably sold that they had a fling when they were younger. So if they fight against each other, there would be sparks and would be interesting to watch. If he is team good, it would be fun for a random character to take over the drama and beat the FL. Goofy lawyer is boring and he might be more interesting as a character if he leaned into team bad. So far, all he does is mope around and wait for Hye Won. Boring. I want chairman Romeo to come back into full team bad blazing mode with a huge violin background playing in the back. I think Hye Jin might end up accidentally being team good(ish) -- as in she is trying to change but no one gives her a chance and so she just fights back with just darker and darker tactics. As for the other side characters, I am waiting for all to drop dead because this drama is bent on killing off cast and Hye Won yelling in frustration.
  14. I seriously don't get where this drama is going. am still not sure what the plot is or what hye won is trying to achieve or why we are supposed to cheer for her. new addition jace is a pretty big actor and so I don't see him playing second male lead. he has been male lead in many dramas. is the drama topsy turvy because of a change in writers? I want to know what is the drama behind the scenes because something is off with the number of characters rotated out so fast...
  15. I don't either; not really a fan of the flavour. it tastes better during monsoon season though. I prefer ginger tea and it is something we have all year around. ginger is all good for the throat and clears your system. 864
  16. only in starbucks. what is latte? it is a milky drink with froth. chai more or less is milk tea with or without spices. so for reasons unknown, you are repeating the word tea twice and also indicating it is milk tea twice. why why why? 854
  17. there is no such thing as chai tea. .. chai means tea and so when you say chai tea, you are just saying tea in 2 different languages (hindi and english). I blame starbucks for being weird. instead of just calling it milk tea or masala tea like they do in other parts of the world, they have to confuse people. not really a coffee expert @partyon @rocat but I did get my fortune read in coffee cup many many many years ago. it was certainly interesting experience. 850
  18. he didn't survive. not sure why he survived 10 story drop only to die later in some forest. very strange.... at this stage, I won't be surprised if heruculena ends up being innocent lamb and MIL died because of ji chang or romeo chairman or someone else altogether...
  19. yea, I hope she and her family gets complete privacy without people speculating further. at the same time, I do think the palace really bungled up. I have no idea why they would put out a photoshopped picture that would get rejected by mainstream wire agencies. either, they could have released a message without a photo or an old photo or they could have gone through a more creative option where you show a sense of home without showing faces. they could have just browsed through istock, getty or any of the photo studios for ideas. wow, that sounds like a nasty divorce. one of the comments in the article said she has not seen her son and is asking for info on him. +2
  20. kate middleton has announced that she is undergoing chemo after cancer diagnosis. well, now that it is open, hopefully people will stop with the conspiracy theories wondering what happened to her... @partyon +2
  21. I don't think the writer cares about cheating because in this drama pretty much everyone is cheating including the ML and FL
  22. I think hye won will end up losing custody of her baby because she doesn't listen to ji chang and is instead obsessed over her own rage. he does warn her that grandma will go ballistic but she thinks she is one step up from grandma. so when she loses custody, she will blame hye ji. she will also be face adultery charges. when ji chang tells her his boundaries and asks her not to hang out with the lawyer behind his back, she mocks him by calling him emotional. right, that will just inspire feelings of love. face palm. I don't think she was ever in love with ji chang to be honest as she seems to think that he has no opinion worth considering.... since the secrets are out, it will be a continuous "you hurt me" till the end. something will happen where hye ji gets upset with hye won and so on and on. this drama should be called two wolves because I think they will tear each other apart and only in the end, hye won will say with regret, "I should have stopped back then."
  23. thats why I think the two sisters are actually very similar. they both are driven by rage and whether or not it makes sense is not relevant. @maribella -- neither the drama or the actress convinced me she had a deeper bond with MIL that supersedes ji chang. I actually thought hye won was faking affection in order to get into the good books of MIL just like she pretends humility in front of grandma. hye won also does not come across as strong but more a refined version of unhinged compared to her sister. I don't see a kumbaya ending that @LeftCoastOppa hopes for. I think hye ji will end up in loony bin or ending up doing some self-harm. I won't be surprised if hye won will end up in jail because she herself won't stop kicking the hornet's nest.
  24. that makes sense but what I don't get is why hye won is absolutely disinterested in knowing what happened to hye ji in the 25 odd years or so. she literally has no interest and is very dismissal when hye ji hints about how mom is a leech. she gives off a "I don't care" vibe and her sole interest is in MIL's death. the drama hasn't given me any insight into why this woman is more obsessed than her own hubby on this matter and why she would keep going behind his back about it. the only people who asked, "what happened to her?" were the dad and aunt. dad is too guilty and heartbroken to relay some of the abuse hye ji endured. right now, hye won's reaction feels like deflection. if she had to know what happened to hye ji, then she would have to take accountability for what she did as a child. she doesn't want to know and would rather be blind. she comes off as very cold to me. re: @LeftCoastOppa
  25. I had dropped the drama but decided to check it out to see if it had gotten any better. it surprisingly has settled in more into an even tone. I still can't stand hye won and find her a weirdo for being so obsessed with her MIL's death so much. you would think ji chang would be more upset but he wants to move on. found it interesting that hye won is obsessed in some ways in this tug of war with hye ji even before knowing her identity. feels like these sisters are the type who really can't get along even if they tried. I find it interesting that hye won for all her wanting to find hye ji has not tried to find out what it was like for hye ji growing up and what were the battles she faced. instead, her focus is on MIL's death. weird. I like that they showed that the marriage was disintegrating piece by piece as they had bad communication where both really don't see eye to eye on key issues. maybe it is because hye won is a few years older than ji chang but the woman does not trust him to do anything. she always gives him info super late and then gives pikachu face when he gets upset. face palm. on his part, he was really struggling after his mother's death and he wasn't getting the support he wanted from hye won. so if it wasn't for the baby, this would have ended in divorce even earlier. ji chang having an affair was inevitable in some ways because they were very distant from each other and just missing communication signals completely.
