Those are decent ratings, IMO.  I'm curious too, why LMH doesn't mention PT.  Maybe there wasn't a big splash afterwards like BOF, CH, Heirs etc?  I think SYJ was an established actress at that time.  Maybe @willenette, who was following LMH at that time can shed some light on this?  The soompi thread didn't even reach 200 pages.

CarolynH, ohhh.................do you think so? Sorry, IDK what to answer you on this - hahaha - What I can only remember in one of his interviews then was he said that "Personal Taste" was his first experience in doing a bed scene and he was very embarrassed because there were so many people see him (doing the bed scene). He was very thankful to Son Ye Jin because according to him she was very helpful during that scene. Most people/fans then thought all along that when he took to do this drama he would play as gay but he said - "i'm not a gay, and neither did my character, Jeon Jin Ho!" Ye, Son Ye Jin was already an established & experienced actress then that's why, LMH said that he respected her a lot. She rose to fame in romance-themed films and television series such as The Classic with Jo In Sung (2003), Summer Scent with Song Seung Hun (2003), A Moment to Remember (2004), and April Snow with Bae Yong Joon (2005) & still counting. She's tagged as the "Queen of Melodrama". After finishing the drama, Son Ye Jin said to public media that Lee Min Ho was a very good kisser and she was satisfied with his kiss.. Nikaa, PT was popular overseas. And based from the ratings that this drama got, it was a "strong" drama despite that it was underrated in Korea, my opinion. LMH got an Execellence Award for this series

What I liked about PT as LMH's 2nd drama was it being an unconventional choice for him  After BOF, offers naturally poured.  But PT was a low-key vehicle, far removed from his chaebol flower boy image in BOF.  I think it was smart move. You can surmise that he is more interested in developing his craft by working with veteran actors and starring on a novel-based drama that had an intriguing premise.

And now it is June 22 in my part of the globe. So --

Happy Blessed Birthday Lee Min Ho!

But, While HEIRS was one of my crack Drama, but lets Admit it, HEIRS wouldn't be on KES Drama list that is remember as "well written" or "critically acclaim" and when it's announce KES and KMH collaborating again, i was hoping this time around we would get critically acclaim, since this is KES after Mr. Sunshine, but yet again, While TKEM is a really good story and i have so much love towards TKEM, But, it seems that the story needs a lot more time to be develop. It will also be remember as another KES drama that i confusing, but it's really popular because it's LMH comeback Drama. So i would say, LMH actually save KES this time around.

And i explained all of that is to bring the point,  that LMH and KES collaboration will always be attached with "KES drama that is not well written" or with TKEM "KES drama with the lowest local ratings". This is not LMH's fault, i feel like KES was not giving LMH her best. So i hope not to see LMH collaborate with KES again for that reason.

Agree about HEIRS.  For some strange reason, the scene that I always remember with good feelings is the one with LMH meeting his brother in the almond grove.

    VfKH9eml.png

    8dw7py8l.png

LMH managed to look & sound young in this particular scene. I dunno how he did it.  He was boyish and successfully expressed longing for his older brother's love & affirmation. The inflection in LMH's voice tugged at my heart that's why I remember this scene with fondness & admiration. But there were too many cringe-worthy scenes before & after this, LOL.

About TKEM - soooooo much potential. SIGH. And yes the acting of the cast, esp LMH & KGE saved KES' material this time around. I love TKEM though and glad that LMH chose this as his come back vehicle.  A LOT of people took notice of him in the right way.

That's why his next project is crucial. (me whispery cheering - CH2! CH2! CH2! hehe)

Which reminds me, the PD of CH was also the PD for LOTBS.  He is really good. Fast, efficient - he does not like clutter in the story telling.  I hope LMH works with him again.

Another idea is he could be a gamer, he loves games and he plays against Kim Hee Chul. He could be a gamer addict and in a competition, and perhaps the gambling gangsters bet against him and want him to lose. Break his fingers or something. Suffers but finally  he gets back to his former glory in the end and win the world championship and the money jackpot.  Something along the lines. The trials and tribulations of a gamer in S Korea. He may like that and something like Memories of Alhambra. A little different perhaps.

Oooooh, I like this!  It could be a thriller

He once said that he would like to attract more male followers. Perhaps if his next project showcases him in action or thriller like this idea of yours he could achieve that.

    Or a movie with KGE - tee-hee!

Wait a sec, didn't the same site posted not so long ago a very discouraging article about the King?

A sudden about face don't you think?

    @mychoiyoung

I just noticed your pic is from the ending of Faith. Our Imja couple finally together. Though to be honest that wasn't the ending that I imagined for them.

Yes. That William Schwartz writer has another article about the June Week 3 ranking of TKEM.  Since it is already over he was surprised of its #1 rank in Wavve.  Just displayed his ignorance considering TKEM has been #1 in Wavve for 8 weeks straight now.

RE: Faith - yes I know a lot of Faithlings did not like the no-embrace/no-kiss ending. That's understandable, LOL

  6. Lee Min-ho's Maturity Stands Out in "The King: Eternal Monarch"

    photo1198994.jpg

"The King: Eternal Monarch" left a lingering affectionate impression until the end. It was possible because of Lee Min-ho's passionate performance, which he had been running for eight months without a break.

SBS Friday-Saturday drama "The King: Eternal Monarch" ended its sixteenth episode on the 12th. Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho), who killed Lee Rim (Lee Jung-jin) and kept the emperor's calling for the first time in 26 years, later shared his daily life with Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun), who was finally reunited with him and traveled through various parallel worlds.

"So we decide to love the fate that chose us. Just today, just today. Forever", with the narration by Lee Min-ho, the hands of two people warmly facing each other as they grow older, embellished the screens with long lingering imagery and emotion.

Lee Min-ho, who played the role of Emperor Lee Gon of the Korean Empire, has created a fantasy romance with a deep emotion that is different from the past, showing upgraded character analysis talent and inner workings with his elegant visuals and mature acting skills suitable for his role.

From the heart-warming, straight-forward romance to the cool charisma of the commander-in-chief, fantastic uniform figure and excellent action skills, Lee Min-ho, who captivated the imaginative Lee Gon character, proved the power of the irreplaceable title once again by successfully capturing the hearts of women around the world.

Above all, Lee Min-ho led the vast story with more mature acting skills. In addition to his delicate eye acting that attracts attention, his deep and clear voice and expression put more weight on the emperor's character and increased the level of immersion. The restrained performance, which heavily explodes with the complex and subtle emotions that stir inside of his character, has been praised as the best ever in each episode.

In addition, Lee Min-ho's appealing passionate performance in every monologue scene that changed the mood of the play, showed the power of amplifying the tension and emotion of the drama at every moment, further deepening the mournful melodrama sentiment. That's why the second half of "The King: Eternal Monarch" gained momentum.

Like this, Lee Gon, the emperor of the Korean Empire, was created by reflecting Lee Min-ho's many worries and efforts. The past eight months with "The King: Eternal Monarch" are bound to be a meaningful time for Lee Min-ho.

Lee Min-ho said, "This is the beginning of my career as an actor in my 30s and I think it will be remembered as nourishment for the future. Above all, it was good to be able to work with the writer, director and good actors again in the field after a long time and I think it will remain in my memory for a long time, because I worked harder than ever before", he said, expressing his special affection for the work and role.

Lee Min-ho then said, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the fans and viewers who have waited for a long time", and added, "I sincerely hope that you will stay healthy at this time of year and I hope you will walk the path of your choice well. I will also do my best at every moment and take firm steps forward", he said in a heartfelt greeting and in encouragement to the viewers, creating a touching impression.

  7. Hi everyone!  I have avoided this thread for SO LONG.  Cos I might never emerge from this rabbit hole, LOL.

But HIS bday is coming up so, why not join the party :)  Just until after the celebration, right?

I have to say that at 33, he is looking mighty fiiiine.  The best so far.  And he sounds so much mature now. Dang!

ps: I still dream of CH Season 2.  With his mature naughtiness now, he is ripe for the real Ryo Saeba :yaaa:

Wayve is owned by SBS right? Then they should have not broadcast it simultaneously. Even better just exclusively on Wayve and Netflix.

Wavve is a premium content portal. Korea Times reported that it was "started by SK Telecom, the country’s largest wireless carrier, acquiring a 30 per cent stake in Content Alliance Platform (CAP), a joint-venture company of KBS, MBC, and SBS, Korea’s three largest TV networks. CAP will merge its online video service, Pooq, with SK Broadband’s Oksusu to create a new service called Wavve"  It was launched to compete with Netflix & Amazon.

What SBS should have done is promote the show that it is also available in Wavve and that it is doing very well there.  Why they did not is the mystery.

I couldn't stand noodle hair GuJunPyo in BOF and couldn't for the life of me get all the hype of that drama and him ( sacrilegious to me I know!)

I remember being in middle school when BOF aired. All my female classmates were gushing about this hot guy from Korea, and I was like "another member of SuJu?" lol. But everyone was urging me to watch it, so I did. And God, that experience was horrifying! The noodle hair.... I just can't! I was so traumatized that I refused to watch anything with LMH in it.

But then comes The Heirs and I just had to watch it bcs I'm a huge f(x) Krystal stan. Only then I realized... Wow, he is a great actor. And a hot one too... After that I just started to watch his other work. And now I have watched all his dramas.... except Faith and BOF :joy:

Dear Both, you do realize that the "noodle hair" was based on the image of the original manga, right? And if there is anyone who can rock that ridiculous hair, it is LMH, just sayin'...

I am wondering why KKN didn’t make it to this club though, is he more of a threat?

yeah I was wondering given that KKN was there in Faith too and now in tkem...I guess its about someone getting your vibe...like you meet someone and you instantly click and I think with WDH, LMH felt that 'my person' vibe .Hence he got inducted into the inner circle which is so heartwarming .

We also have to consider that LMH & WDH had more screen times together in TKEM.  So their bonding must have been faster & deeper. KKN had a very small role in Faith - not even a single screen time with LMH. So we could consider TKEM as their real 1st movie together.

My question is how did the Adult LeeGon went to save the young LeeGon if he were to be killed there and then? I can understand if the adult leegon went back to save another person say prevent his father fr being killed..but i cannot understand where he came fr the past if he was originally meant to be killed and fr ep 1 i can see that he wasn't because of the adult LeeGon? Wae??

@Miadee  Let me see if I can help you understand if nobody else has replied to you.

    1. Let me 1st address the one I highlighted above (in bold letters).  LG did not come from the past.  He came from the future (2020)  - which is actually our present and went back to the past (1994).

2, Young LG was not killed during the 1st loop of the 1994 Night of Treason (Epi 1).  This was re-shown with more footage when the flute was made whole when LR & LG were both in the InBetweenPlace at the same time (Epi 14). That's why we have Adult LG saving his young self.

    3. Young LG was also not killed during the 2nd loop of the 1994 Night of Treason (Epi 16) because LG & JY changed the setting where we see JY saving the young LG.

LG could not go back to save his Dad cos his Father was killed before the flute was broken in two.

    Hope this helps.

@mychoiyoung recently i started to watch faith. Leeminho is totally different. He is damant serious. Why didn't i notice this drama before. I regret it. At this rate i will eventually become minoz

Isn't LMH wonderful in Faith?  The actors & crew worked together to finish the drama despite production problems.  Actually I think this is the least rated drama of LMH before his military service and it surprised him why his fans find Choi Young his most beloved portrayal (he asked during several of his concert tours & online Q&A).

Two years after its 2012 airing in Korea, Faith received the Best Korean Drama in Japan. Another testament of LMH popularity.

If you become a full pledged Minoz - welcome to the club!

Should I watch it too?????  I really want to watch it, but his hair there is making me scared.......:fearful:

@goldenashes97 Don't be intimidated with the hair. It is a saeguk drama that's why his hair is like that.  We called it his mane of glory :) He has 3 hair transformations as his military rank goes higher or as his outlook in life changes.  It is a beautiful love story (there are two) wonderfully acted that you may regret not knowing.

  13. I could not go back to the previous pages so sorry to not tag you here.  But someone was asking for the clip of when LMH & KGE met at the BiFan awards.  So had to trim out other stuff and just focused on our OTP - here you go.

As mentioned previously, the camera man seems have come from the future ala TKEM for him to focus on LMH's reaction! (if anyone can provide english sub, that would be great to understand what made LMH laughed)
