On a curious note, is the name "Choi" is cursed in kdramaland??? Out of all the Kseries (maybe about 40-50) I have watched so far, if there is one character which made my heart wrench so badly even today its "Eugene Choi" of Mr.Sunshine.

Character Choi Young in Faith is inspired from the real historical figure General Choi Young. There are some real facts embedded in the drama as well like about the king and his love with his queen, like real-life Choi Young's wife has the same name as the doctor character, like how he was killed as the doctor predicted (but don't worry, that is when he is very old). Because he was killed by a Joseon king, the real-life Choi Young had a swear that grass wouldn't grow on his tomb; that is a true fact: grass only recently covered his tomb.

I was contemplating whether to watch faith or not but your description of LMN's character has certainly piqued my interest. Is the show really good?

It is very good in term of characters. It is one of my life favourite dramas. There are some production problems however the cast still did very well, especially LMH. I have become a fan of him (tbh, only him) after this drama because I know that he suffered a lot during the filming. There are some small flaws in writing towards the end of the production. As the writer wrote in one online interview on her blog about the drama, the production troubles prolonged the drama, increased the production fee, forced her to reduce the plot. However, the story is nice, meaningful, grand. The love story is...perfect.

My husband doesn't care about kdrama but he watched this one and this one was the only he watched. He even went overboard that he suggested a second season. I told him off that I don't want any more drama for the main couple. That said I love the drama characters very much. LMH did a great work that even nearly a decade after watching the show, I still remember most of his lines in the drama. OST of Faith... not to be biased: amazing.

Oddly, for me, it’s hard to replace Choi Young.

Choi Young is the type of character that I FEEL FEEL for. He has such a pitiful life. He lives according to his responsibilities but he’s really just waiting to be set free so he can die and reunite with his loved ones. Each unfinished task is a reason for him to live but not a desire for him to live. As a viewer, I wanted nothing more than to hug him and give him love. He’s endured a lot.

    Thumb up!!!!

As a hard core fan of Faith, watching Faith around 20-30 times, reading various writing about it, your view point still gives me some new insight into the character.

For those who DO NOT WANT TO FALL MORE MADLY IN LOVE WITH LMH's CHARACTER CHOI YOUNG, do not, I repeat DO NOT READ  the translations of excerpts of the novel where the drama was based on. https://breathlesssurvival.wordpress.com/faith-translations/#comments

    I warned you, ok? LOL

We are so thankful to the blogger cos the translation was quite a task. But she fed our hungry hearts after the drama ended and for those segments where the Show missed. The novel was written in a style that shows Choi Young's POV and Eun Soo's POV of the same scenes.  This is why you can clearly see why LMH's portrayal was SO on point.  That's why am super happy that more are appreciating LMH's turn in Faith and of the character.

ADDED: I also love Faith's OST.  Among all of LMH;s drama, it is the one that is in my library so I can play it whenever I want when am driving.  What's more, ALL the BGMs were released, unlike in TKEM.

I imagine their texts are something along the lines of:

    “How’s preparation for Hero’s premiere?”

    ”No rest at all. :bawling:
    ”Fighting”

    Or

“Let’s hang out. When are you free?.”
“I’m free this Saturday. Just name the time and place.”

    Or

    “Hey... I miss you.”

    ”I miss you too.”

    or

    ”I love you.”

    ”I love you too.”

    Your pick :D

All of the above. In that progressive manner :heart1:

Most Koreans online says it's a term used for married spouses and it's cringe if non married people use it. BF/GF uses jagiya more. Unless if ES was going for cringe and sap, I guess that could be the reason he used it.

Oh, am referring to the english word "honey" only, not its korean counterpart.  Languages have cultural nuances so since am not Korean, I only reacted to the english part.

Let me provide a little more insight on this. Yes, a hairpin is used to indicate a woman’s relationship status in the Joseon era. If you’ve watched enough saguek dramas, you will know this to be true. In conclusion, yes, they were already married in this scene. Can I say I am surprised we missed such a detail? All Koreans probably picked this up right away but we international viewers took more than a week to realize. I wish the translator would have put in parentheses the meaning of wearing a hairpin in the Joseon era. But hey, we all knew what we were watching since the beginning, every line should be analyzed

You can read more about the meaning behind wearing binyeo here.

    https://asiasociety.org/korea/binyeo-dazzling-korean-traditional-ornamental-hairpin

Yes I heard of this point. Am not Korean so who am I to question traditional ornaments and its use BUT one would think that being married and all - IF they were - that TE would be less hesitant or embarrassed with the leaves thingy. I am ambivalent of her awkwardness with LG if he was her husband already at that point. In fact I just kept quiet about this earlier finding her reaction funny cos am I to believe that they have not got it going after all those weekend pursuits?

So am not convinced.  Like @acyellowsc said in another forum, she was probably thinking of using the hairpin so that people in that period would see she was already taken. Am also thinking it was more practical cos women really didn't go around during the Joseon era with their hair running wild with the wind, so to speak.

Again (yes am really sore about this), a ring on their aged hands would have been an easier universal symbol for what we desire about our OTP.

so they are really married in the drama. Happy ending for everyone. Even though i want them to show the wedding

Ahhh i love ur info. Aigooo. I actually noticed that it was mentioned several times. *i thought in hindsight that maybe LG gave it to her. Did not connect it to something i actually learned recently.
From another kdrama i am ff mystic pop up bar.just found out about the cultural significance of the hairpin there. Hahahah love it chingu!

    *sorry mentioned another kdrama.

    ship is still sailing!

That is just one of the uses of binyeo.  Even men use binyeo during Jeoson period. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binyeo

Why I do NOT subscribe to them being married - if they were why would TE be still embarrassed when they were talking about the leaves?  Shouldn't married couples be over that awkwardness already? Sorry to burst your bubbles.

MYM is telling to delete the video?????

    my question is whyyyyyyyy????

why is his mngmt doing these kinda things it’s so fishy......

it’s like are they going to messg all the ppl to put it down .....

Hmmmmmm maybe bc the fans are so close to figuring something out??? Like figuring out if KGE was there or not??? AHHHHHH I think I’m going to lose my mind!!!

It is highly probable that MYM was being careful about the public seeing LMH & friends frolicking while the pandemic has reached a 2nd wave in SK.

@Prerna thank you for the video. Yes, definitely want to see the TKEM version. Sorry, I just can't continue watching that video, because she's not KGE :(! But, I can see the difference, KGE & LMH enjoy their kisses, where as, JJH & LMH, have  -"I want to get this done and over with" written all over their faces!

To be fair we need to consider the context of the kissing scenes.  In LOTBS, they were saying goodbye and there was the onus of the issue that the kiss by the mermaid will erase his memory, should the mermaid decide on erasing.  I would compare this kissing with the crying goodbye kiss BUT STILL it will still compare in comparison.  TKEM was epic.

Meanwhile, the other kisses of our TKEM OTP are mostly playful so we us viewers enjoy them more.

I am shocked that Chinese fans spend such bomb money on there k-pop idols

LMH fans in China sponsored a 120-play LED/digital billboard in Shanghai PLUS a 1-page newspaper ad to greet LMH on his bday with a 100K++ purchase of the same newspaper.  You can just imagine how much that cost them.

Vietnam did the same LED/digital billboard display, aside from sending LMH a personal gift.

There are other fans who join the group gift of the Minoz Club in their country but still send individual personal gifts to LMH.

That's aside from the albums, DVDs, ticket for concerts, merchandising, Promiiz donations, etc... Some even bought TKEM props!

Believe me, even I hate reading that. I think Knetz are more critical towards KES bcause all KES prev dramas managed to hit double digit ratings. Some of them are really well written eg: Mr Sunshine. So ppl hv a really high expectation towards TKEM

I seriously think it is high time for media to shift their mindset on what good ratings mean in this day & age.  Terrestrial viewership has fallen considerably on all fronts primarily because of the available options online.  Aside from TV or cable --

    1. You have the legit streaming like Netflix, Wavve, Viu, Amazon,  Disney etc...

    2. And you have the unofficial sites (you know what they are, TOO MANY to cite!) that are already subbed

    3. Plus you even have those unofficial streamings w/o english subs.

    4. Then you also have the torrent sites.

And all most of these sources provide unlimited flexibility when to see the shows plus downloadable features of the show!

Only those with agenda or are myopic would insist on TV ratings as the be-all and end-all of how a drama performs.  Factor in the prejudices of some reporters. Then you have knetz's unfair coverage.

I hope those Hermes and givenchy are not by someone special........

just can  minoz please throw some light on this ?????

and I am craving to know wht the effing are those stack of boxes ????

Pardon me if this has been addressed cos am still backtracking

Yes, some celebrities receive expensive gifts from fans. The Hermes & Givenchy shopping bags are from groups of loyal fans. I think one is from TH.  The Hermes is a tray with design of horses. Very nice, noh?

    YocNgE8.png

The stacks of boxes to his left are boxes of minomi dolls from his fans, to be donated to LMH's former school.

I read that too, with PT, he has broken people's expectation of him taking yet another flower-boy role after BOF. It showed his potential as a versatile actor. And with the rather conservative stance of Korea, it was commendable for LMH to have taken on that role.

Exactly!  So am really excited what he will choose after TKEM.  He must be really scrutinizing all proposals.
