@Dhakra is terribly picky with his dramas . So the cast , script etc has to be really good . Also makjang melodrama isn’t really his thing. He prefers like slice of life or a really good crime drama . It has to speak to him.

Ooo...thinking man. Thought as much.  :).  Have you watched Tunnel?  Or is that too dark for you?  The only drama @Dhakra has mentioned that I know of is Weightlifting Fairy?  What other dramas would you recommend?  I haven’t watched Signal but I have heard good things about it.  Might have to put it on my binge list.  But first I have to check out Vagabond to see what all the hype is about.  I need to see if I can watch at least one of LSG or Suzy’s dramas from start to finish without dropping it midway.  I couldn’t finish Hwayugi.  I tried Dream High but the cringe factor was just too much for me to continue.

kkkkkk. SSK & Bae Doona in Sense 8. I only saw a few episodes in season 1 many years back ...I should hv continued

No way...he speaketh good Anglais  ...although I never was a fan of Bae Doona, I will look up Sense8 to see if I need to binge watch (although lately I haven’t had much time :sweatingbullets: and been resorting to watching varieties and movies which are less time consuming).  I don’t know why she (Bae Doona) gets requests for catwalks/magazine covers...I wouldn’t have put her down as a classic Asian beauty?  Maybe it’s her angular androgynous which is the appeal.  I would’ve put Song HyeKyo as top of my list for aesthetics.  Sorry in advance to Bae Doona fans.

  3. So apparently this is more reason for Park2 couple shipping...their drama tv stations have aligned... it was definitely MEANT to be .  I wonder if the shippers will wander into their respective drama threads later on I like they did for Mr Gold (standard for kiss scenes).

KBS then TVN and then JTBC...

It's sure that ppc are destined to each other.

  4. @triplem gah...hubby and he (Lee JeHoon) are of one mind. .  At least LJH attempted a response.  Hubby didn’t even try to understand.  I had to break it down for him bit by bit (explain the whole thing) which naturally took all the romance out of the situation.

Reporting back on hubby’s reaction when I attempted to show him aegyeo... epic fail.  He gave me a blank stare in response.  Even when I explained the whole process and how he was supposed to “catch my kiss”, he shook his head and gave me a firm “no”.  .

But I was from the generation that filial piety is utmost in the Chinese culture. Our parents had it easy. We loved them no matter how little they loved us. That's not happening in my sons' generation. We have to earn their love, trust and respect. Guess that's why we're called the sandwich generation. My sons and I are very close tho.

Pros and cons.  The filial piety generation learnt the meaning of self sacrifice.  You sacrifice the “little me” to accomplish/complete the “big me” (Chinese saying).  The individualistic autonomous generation is all about me, myself, I.  They become very self absorbed.  Everything is about “me”, how I feel, how everything revolves around “me”.  Their world becomes very small.  It’s harder to get them to look outside of themselves for the greater good.  I think half the problem is that this autonomy whilst advocating self esteem and becoming your “best self” and finding meaning within “yourself” in reality does the opposite.  You can’t “find” meaning apart from giving of yourself to others.  The most self fulfilled people are actually those who have learnt to not take themselves too seriously and give of themselves for the betterment of others.  In the case of Wonder, the Sister Olivia who had to give up most of her time with her parents and grow up on her own in the shadow of her disabled Brother whose condition took up all of their energy?  She grew up self reliant, independent, with a great head on her shoulders.  I also loved how the movie emphasised the importance of a stable affirming family which is paramount to growing mature, thoughtful children who have the resilience to navigate the ugliness of life.  It was a beautiful film all round.  Warm.  Grounded in reality but hopeful.

O My Venus.  It’s surprisingly good.  I love both JiSub and Min-Ah.  I didn’t think I would like the story but it was really well done. Their characters are so cute together.

DS60 team still very close . And my homeboy with a mask there right in front :D

Why is he on the other escalator??  Like the one going up?  And the others going down??   Yeah I still see them posting meet ups (the girls).  Glad they all got along so well.  I miss DS60.  I have been in a slump since.  Started old dramas and binge watched.  SiWan’s new one is too gory for me... I get the feeling it’s all happening in his head?  Like probably the people and some of the situations are similar but he’s just extrapolated it in his head to include the gore... I saw stills of some of the episodes and just couldn’t watch...

  9. No way...I’ve been living in a hole.  So I see “Ask The Fellas” pop up on the hot topics panel and Lo and behold, our very own @Dhakra is like the Sensei there. RESPECT :D.  He even does private counselling sessions. .  Love a man who cares.  Mrs D-to-be is a lucky woman.

  10. I had a Science teacher who named his son Hydrogen... .

I don’t get this teaser?  I thought it was all about con artists who are like Robin Hoods and scam the rich.  Why are they trudging through the countryside?  Shouldn’t it be set in the city where all the big scams are?

  11. @Ameera Ali SeungGi is cool.  There are some guys born to do action type movies/dramas.  When they run, they look cool (there’s a fluidity in their movements).  LSG is one of them.  Rain is another.  So JiSub, Ji JinHee and Ji ChangWook as well.  They even look cool running in suits.   Some seem out of their element for some reason.  I am not sure about brown eyes Oppa...I am assuming this is referencing Seo KangJoon?  This is him exercising (such a dork)... wait till the camera pans out in the end.  (HINT - his hair was defying gravity...)

I firmly believe there was more chemistry between Je Ha (JCW) and Yoo Jin (The older actress - Song Yoon Ah). The writers chose to please the majority audience. Had they worked on the Je Ha-Yoo Jin angle they could have created something classic and more engaging. What can I say we deserve the Ramyun dance!

Yeah...that scene of him saving her (YooJin) from the room and the sprinklers going with her voice over saying she can’t tame him coz he’s a wolf?  Then he stops her just at the cusp of her emerging into daylight with his hand on the small of her back as he growls, “stand up straight, your enemies are watching”...Gah...just as well they had the sprinklers on... to turn down the heat .

Melting me softly - Looks like i will get sucked in by the otp cuteness again! :w00t: What story? what plot!? Doesnt matter!

Apparently Yoon SeAh is playing his old flame from 20 years ago?  I hope I don’t start to ship him and her instead like I did the older YoonA and him in K2 .  K2 was like the battle of the Yoonas and Dances with Ramyeon just couldn’t hold her own against the sizzle of the older Yoona.

  14. Just started O My Venus (on Netflix).  Yes I am very behind with dramas coz I only started Kdrama in 2017. In the mood for light and fluffy.  1st episode is showing promise.  So JiSub and SungHoon together - eye candy. And Shin MinAh’s character is cute.  I haven’t watched her act before but I like that she’s stayed with WooBin despite his illness. I have always known her as his gf. Now I know her as a believable actress.  I like her.

The intro scene of ep 1 I felt there is a twist. Either he is writing a novel and he is imagining all these characters. Or he is already descended into insanity before he moved to Seoul. They haven't told us why he moved right?

I am keeping my options open.

I know its origins is a webtoon but there is a French play where the phrase “Hell Is Other People” originated. So you may not be far off. :D

I m losing interest in Moment at eighteen. 2 eps to go.

It started so well.  I loved the characters and then the drama sort of lost its way?  I felt like the friendship between the mothers was too contrived?  The romance between the leads was very sweet and innocent and I love OSW’s portrayal of his character.  HyangGi is good as well.  I really liked the atmosphere they created at the school and the girls’ friendships (the giggling and shared experiences during sleepovers) but somehow the drama lost me after the camp night.  It was the same for Doctor John.  Too many terminal illnesses for the characters.  The euthanasia debate was sidelined and muddied.  Subplots just added too many loose ends to tie.  I don’t think I could watch S2 even though I like the leads JiSung and Lee SeYoung.

So did I (finish it).  But I didn’t engage my brain whilst watching .  I stayed for BoYoung.  She was just the cutest thing.    Wasn’t completely sold on OTP...

Guess that means I need to deploy the same with Melting Me Softly.  Title reminds me of Frozen... Olaf... LET IT GOOOOO....

I organised an afternoon of fellowship with her where all of us friends (about 70) got together and told her the great impact she had on our lives and how much we love her. I believe love the living when they are alive. When they're gone, they're gone. No point doing an eulogy when the person is dead and can't hear it. She and her husband were so happy and found it so meaningful cos it was an afternoon of joy and laughter as we recounted those great memories. She said she didn't know she was so loved. So that was mission accomplished.

Such a great idea!   Kudos to you for thinking about it and organising it.

@angelangie yeah.. But im a bit curious, will the new Garlic have totally same personality with old Garlic?

 i know im insensitive a bit, but there are a lot of kittens look like that in the streets... no?

Nature Vs Nurture debate.  Identical twins have exactly same genes but would you say they were complete clones of each other?  So no.  They will have lots of similarities but will still be “different”.  Also some of these similarities would be heavily biased and “perceived” by the owner who obviously wants Old Garlic back so it may not be objective.

  20. @triplem I don’t understand that JCW drama.  Why 33C (the temp they can’t exceed) when the normal human body temperature is 36.5-37.5?  Unless the cryofreeze altered their biology somehow?  That’s not quite kosher with cryogenics?  Anything below 35C is hypothermia.
