Two Strong Male Lead Actors Gong-Yoo and Lee Dong-Wook One Success Factor Of 'Goblin/Guardian' Drama

 

Two leading actors of the “Goblin/Guardian” Gong-Yoo and Lee Dong-Wook have become one key success factor of the drama. Their acting skills and stellar performance are able to win the audience around the world and also in Korea.

After gaining global recognition through his role as main character in “Train to Busan,” Gong-Yoo took the role in “Goblin/Guardian” as the titular character, the Goblin general Kim-Shin. The acting in the drama is quite challenging, because both script writer Kim Eun-Sook and director used special approach to the drama which is very different from their previos work”Descendants of the Sun.”

Their new approach combine the comedy, satire and tragedy into one fantasy drama. This requires both Gong-Yoo and Lee to play many spectrum of emotions. Both actors played excellent and Seoul Daily News took special note of their acting.

Lee who plays as the grim reaper encounter the Goblin when his job was interfered by the Goblin. The first time was during the accident when a car hit Ji Eun-Tak’s mother who was pregnant.

Goblin cancelled her death at that time when she called for deity to help. Goblin’s help making the baby in her womb, Eun-Tak to become his bride when she reached adulthood. Her destiny is to end Goblin’s immortality by pulling out the sword in his chest.

In the episode 13 aired on Friday, Jan. 13, Goblin ended his immortality and killing his arch enemy using the sword. The episode reached the highest ratings to gain 14.25 percent average ratings in the AGB Nielsen Korea as reported by Asia Today . In TnMs the ratings reached 15.3 percent.

For the drama aired on cable channel TV, its ratings is relatively four times lower than that of the public TV station.Therefore, ratings above 10 percent for the cable channel program is considered very high.

“Goblin/Guardian” Episode 13 ended with a major cliffhanger to the audience, which makes the production team have to postpone the Episode 14. They would not want to risk the ratings to go lower by making the bad decision.

Even a black mask cannot conceal Gong Yoo's beauty.

 

On January 16, the actor's agency, Management Soop, revealed behind-the-scenes photos of Gong Yoo in action.

In the still cuts, Gong Yoo emerges from the dark against the bright city lights of Seoul, his face hidden behind a black mask. Despite the cold weather and windy conditions, the mask clearly wasn't able to disguise the actor's 'handsomeness'.

 

Dressed in all black, Gong Yoo gave a sleek goblin pose, while wielding a sharp sword ready to strike at his opponent.

Suhyun wants Chanhyuk to stay away from her friends + her ideal type Gong Yoo to join YG

 

Akdong Musician's Suhyun expressed love for Gong Yoo and not so much love for her brother Chanhyuk on the January 17 airing of 'Tei's Dreaming Radio'. 

 

Suhyun first talked about her celebrity friends and revealed, "I bring my friends to my house often. I meet with Kim Sae Ron, Kim Yoo Jung, and also Kim Bora unnie frequently. My house is close to Hongdae so we go to noraebang and search for popular restaurants." She continued, "I don't like my oppa Chanhyuk hanging out with us together. Also, he usually doesn't but when my friends are over at our house, he knocks on the door and offers snacks." 

 

When asked if there are any friends she would like to introduce to Chanhyuk, she answered, "I never want to introduce them. I don't even like my oppa talking with my friends."

Next, Suhyun talked about her ideal type Gong Yoo and said she would like for him to join YG Entertainment. She then sent a message to Gong Yoo, saying, "I'm not sure if you know me, but I enjoy watching 'Goblin'. You look so good in a suit. I hope you visit YG one day. I want to eat a meal with you."
