Did not know that they had a new song out and am listening to it right now. Sounds good, not too bad, and it is nice to hear Kyo's singing voice again. BUT OMG HIS HAIR!!! (or lack thereof!) :o

People are making such a big deal about Kyo shaving off his hair, lol.

LOTUS is amazing. I wish Kyo would take it easy on the super high notes though, it's like you can almost tell it's straining his voice a lot. Anyways, I REALLY hope they will announce US tour dates soon. I'm dying to see the boys live again.

I am so happy that they'll come to Netherlands! Even though they went to Heineken Music Hall (since I didn't realize that they went. :( ) But now I hope that my BF & I will go there!

Good news!

June 22nd, 2011 - New single.  Title - Different Senses.

http://toshivk.blogspot.com/2011/04/dir-en-grey-new-single-different-sense.html

Why has no one posted this yet?!  It's been news for almost a week!

The description is very interesting.  It sounds like it'll be a middle ground between Hageshisa and Lotus.

Also, given the release date records, I think it's pretty safe to say we'll see the whole new album around September 2011.  I really hope so!

when are they coming back to the US D;

It would be great to see them again;haven't seen them since 2008. Missed my chance when they toured with Apocalyptica last year.

I do wish they would bring with them some of their fellow J-Metal bands, though. There are a lot of good bands from Japan that could get some pretty decent exposure here in the U.S. if they toured with Diru. And I'm not talking about bands like D'espairsray, MUCC, Gazette, etc., but rather some possibly lesser-known bands - these ones come to mind:

Sex Machineguns (Speed Metal [think old-school X-Japan]. Would f**king kill to see Sex Machineguns with Diru. Their sense of humor would be a complete polar opposite to Diru's doom and gloom, lol)

Blood Stain Child (Out of all these bands I think these guys would be most warmly received by Diru fans....an interesting mix of Melodic Death Metal and Techno/Trance)

Galneryus (Power Metal. Actually I think these guys are fairly well-known, but it'd still be kickass to see them on tour)

Serpent (Another Melodic Death Metal band, but these guys stick closer to a more traditional Scandinavian sound)

Sigh (Advant-garde Black Metal. Might not be to most Diru fans' liking, but I'd sure as hell love it)

Gallhammer (Black/Doom Metal with Crust Punk elements. Also may not mesh well with Diru fans, lol. But hey, an all-girl Japanese band should draw in some attention)

Boris (Hard to categorize since they mix/switch things up so much. I'll just go with Experimental/Drone/Noise/Sludge Metal, lol)

Exist Trace (Alternative Metal with some Melodic Death Metal and Gothic Metal influences. An all-girl Visual Kei band.....rather ironic, eh?lol But not bad, tbh, I think the Diru crowd could get into them.)

Head Phones President (Experimental/Alternative/Nu Metal. Generally not a fan of Alternative Metal and Nu Metal, but they're not bad, I think Diru fans might dig 'em.The girl's gotta great voice, though.)

Taia (Heavy/Gothic Metal. Female-fronted, sounds pretty good; vocalist's got a nice, strong voice)

Midori (K, this ain't Metal, it's Jazz/Punk. Such a weird combination, but I like their sound and it'd be cool to see 'em here in the States. Probably not to the liking of most Diru fans, though, lol)

If not a Japanese band to tour with, then I'd absolutely LOVE to see Diru perform with Taiwanese Melodic Black Metal band ChthoniC. They've got quite a following here in the U.S. already, having toured in Ozzfest and headlining their own U.S. tour (with another one coming soon this year! :D ). I've already gotten two people into them in the Heavy Metal thread, lol. Plus I'd get to see their bassist, Doris, aka hottest chick in Metal right now.

ChthoniC (Gotta love that Freddy's erhu playing, and his vocals are pure wickedness)

Regardless of who they tour with, it'd just be great to see Diru again. :)

I don't want to cause a stir with anyone, but I'd like to leave this here for the folks who're going to the shows on the Paradox of Retaliation tour.

It's true that Dir en grey has headed in directions that are quite distant from what they were and did in the past and they're trying very hard to not be stereotyped as pretty boy Visual Kei and just be "normal rock guys", but wouldn't it still be nice if they'd throw out some "not necessarily VK" oldies when they did their shows and not just when it's their shows in Japan?

I received a random message on Myspace about this idea from another Diru fan, I honestly gave it thought, as I also miss the older songs and would enjoy being able to experience them live and in person.

The idea was to have sorta "print-out-sheets" with some old Dir song titles in both Japanese and Romaji/English and print these out and attach them to a piece of cardboard or posterboard and bring them to hold up briefly as the band takes the stage, just long enough for them to look out and see them and then put them down so as not to hinder the experience for other fans when the band starts playing.

I understand that doing something like this isn't going to magically make them play the song right then and there, I'm aware that it's highly unlikely for a band to play something they haven't already rehearsed and planned, but atleast doing this would get it into their head that it's okay to play these songs and that doing so wouldn't hurt their credibility with their more metal-minded fans. And even if they don't care, well... it's still trying something, right?

So anyway, here are the print-outs.

They're fitted for 8x11 paper and meant to be printed in black ink with the "scale to paper size" setting turned on. If you want to do something extra, you could find some luminescent printer paper to print on. I know of several places that have such paper for fairly cheap.

Please don't ask for print-outs with Garden, or Jealous, or I'll or Taiyo no Ao or something else deliberately poppy-sounding that you're only putting out there as some kind of joke to troll the band to generate "lulz." I'm not the one who made these and besides, what's here is still good and would not clash with the band's current image. If you think this is a good idea, pass it around to other fans... If not, then I'm sorry for bothering all of you.

Jesus, this place is so dead.

What do you guys think of the new single? ;D

I have to give it another listen...but until now I'm not too fond of it.

As for the tour...I'll only go if it's work, meaning I get press. I will see them at Wacken...and right now I have no real intention to go see one of the other concerts on the tour.

The new single is alright, i don't care much for the beginning of the song, but the instruments are amazing and when kyo sings softly it's really nice.

Also, I will be seeing Dir en grey in Chile on Nov 23 for Tour 2011 Age Quod Agis :3, i'm excited as it'll be the first time i've seen them live since 2007 and in a completely different country too :)

Somebody made print sheets with some of the band's songs in kanji/romaji/katakana/english. It would be neat if the VIP fans printed some of these out and held them up during their meet / Q&A with the band... and yes, their translator usually does ask the fans what their favorite songs are at some point in the backstage meet. So it's not "being rude" if you print out one of these and hold it up during the meet... Right click and save, locate file, right click and choose "print," set your options to "scale to fit media" and set color to "grayscale."

I went yesterday to Diru concert.

Dang it was AMAZED of how pure darkness it is with such heavy feel. To bad I had headache whole time before concert so I want to headbang out wild. :(

Kyo is such a masterpiece of his character. Toshiya is really active (and young of his inside the character), Die moved a lot but also a bit active. Kaoru is Kaoru. So as Shinya. xD

The sound is pretty good as for other, but because I was to much on the right side (where box at) that I barely hear them and to much bass because of Toshiya. xD

I'm really happy that I able to see them irl after whole year following since 2005.
